This looks like an unassuming, neighborhood restaurant, but it was truly fantastic! Would definitely go back if I'm in the area again. My boyfriend and I ordered wine, the artichoke dip, mussels, tagliatelle, 1/2 chicken, and bread pudding. There was a good variety of wine to choose from and the waitress was nice enough to give me a couple samples before ordering a full glass. We were surprised by the lemon / tangy flavor in the artichoke dip but really enjoyed it! We LOVED the mussels--this was a generous serving, and this was a great combination with the broth and sausage. The tagliatelle was clearly homemade and fresh, and the sauce was flavorful but light; the only thing I would change is the amount of peas / pea flavor. The chicken skin was perfectly crispy! Lastly, the bread pudding was literally baked fresh to the point where we almost couldn't order it. The staff told us it would be a bit of a wait, but when it took a little longer than expected, they continued to check in on us and whether we still wanted to wait. It was definitely worth it! It wasn't as sweet / cinnamon-y as other bread puddings that I've had, but was moist without being soggy and felt like a true homemade recipe. A cute farm to table place in Santa Rosa. Had to wait about 30-40 min for a group on a Saturday night so would recommend a reservation especially for larger groups. They have a frequently changing menu, with limited vegetarian or pescatarian options. We ended up getting the scallops, which I think were too salty, but otherwise had interesting textures. Focaccia was warm, crisp on the outside, and quite flavorful and nicely chewy and fluffy on the inside, so I'd recommend that. Service was good at refilling water but in general was quite slow with bringing out food and the check. Cute space, it is relatively loud inside, but we did not feel rushed throughout the meal. I'd say definitely on the pricey side, especially for small portions. I wouldn't return if I were in the area but maybe with a different menu we'd have a better experience. read more

I came here for Valentine's Day dinner and was worried this restaurant was all hype but was glad to report it was amazing! The staff was very attentive even though they were extremely busy. We started with the burrata and house made focaccia, both tasted so fresh melted in your mouth. For entrees we got the lamb shoulder with polenta and the butternut squash gnocchi pasta dish. WOW. The lamb was so delicious and the pasta complimented it perfectly. As you can tell by the pictures it was so good we couldn't wait to way it. Loved this restaurant! The backstory is fun, the vibe is warm, the bathrooms are wallpapered in old sewing patterns, and the food surpassed my expectations. Saturday May 9, the day before Mothers Day was the perfect way to avoid the hordes. Served weekends, brunch hours are from 9:30 am to 2 pm. Set in a residential area near Juilliard Park, the ambiance is that of a neighborhood haunt. At 10:30 am, we were given an inside table (the outside area will be open later). Drink portions are huge. My caffe latte was served in a quasi bowl--enough for two of us. My wife had the Dutch baby pancake, while I had the Old fashioned eggs your way. These were served with a healthy hash (diced veggies and potatoes pan roasted) and toast with house made mixed berry jam. The pancake was served with an egg, fruit, and lemon curd spread (on the side). We ordered the house made focaccia cinnamon roll to go. I must mention the extraordinary service. "No request too great," seemed to be our server's motto. Requests for splitting the latte, serving some items on the side, or inquiring about additional matters were handled with professionalism and kindness. The timing of the meal was perfect. We made a dinner reservation for 6:30pm on a Friday. It's a small place and seemed pretty full when we arrived, so I'd definitely recommend reserving online beforehand. The interior is cozy and cute, nice and warm compared to the chill outdoors. We were greeted upon entry and service continued to be friendly and attentive throughout the meal. My boyfriend ordered the Scottish steelhead and I ordered the butternut squash gnocchi. We also ordered the focaccia to start, which was very tasty! The gnocchi had a pretty mild flavor and I wouldn't have minded a little bit of salt, but overall it was pretty good. I enjoyed the pieces of squash and the hazelnuts. The steelhead was tasty as well, though my boyfriend noted the portion was a bit smaller than expected. Overall this was a nice dining experience and a cute date night spot. Service Notes Service was prompt but rushed. Courses arrived immediately after clearing the previous one with no breathing room. The server brought the anniversary dessert with a candle while I was in the restroom. Water wasn't consistently refilled. The server was kind but seemed shy and eager to close up for the evening. Value Total: $191.40 before tip. I suppose the pricing feels on par for Santa Rosa in 2025, but wow. Definitely the most we have ever paid for an anniversary meal. It has been a while since we have been to Spinster Sisters but very much reminded of why we like this place so much. The food is top notch and very flavorful and uses the current fresh harvests that are available. If you want to go plant based that is very easy to do as well. There is some connection between the motel and the restaurant and it was just a short pleasant walk. We did make reservations as we prefer a table to sitting at the bar counter, a thought that would have given us a good view of the lively process. The dining room is very attractive, stylish but not fussy. Fabric napkins but not overly starched or polyester...nice soft cotton. We had a few oysters on the half shell, a tomillio chicken soup, interesting salad and steamed mussels with sausage in a killer broth. We each had two glasses of wine, very nice. I'm sure the server could have given us details of each dish and wine but we were sure anything they'd serve would be delish. This restaurant has been our annual tradition every time we come to Santa Rosa. Overall, flavors have always been solid, albeit a bit pricey. I tend to prefer their smaller dishes, as I think it's a better value. We got their pork tenderloin, which was a bit disappointing. Their chard artichoke and cauliflower steak were good though. One of our favorite Santa Rosa restaurants. They are very community oriented and serve what is preached in Sonoma County's Farm to Table ethic. Weds., early eve, we five ate outside in their beautiful setting and we were graciously and efficiently served a fine array of nourishing food/delicious cuisine. My husband and I both agreed: The Spinster Sisters alone is worth the two-hour drive. It's that special. I only took the one photo because I was fully immersed in the moment enjoying our meal, but when the crème puff was placed the lighting was undeniable. The crème puffed texture reminded me of amaretti cookie, which was moist and sponge dense, filled with a rhubarb compote, topped with an orange blossom chantilly, in a base of, what I'm calling, a marzipan gazpacho. Every element was divine and perfect with an espresso to finish the evening wonderfully. Thanks for an amazing Mother's Day meal, especially when we got a night out without the little one! We like to sit at the right side of the bar to watch the kitchen prepare and deliver meals. We started with a plate of braised Romano beans with tomato, pancetta and basil. Delicious and a great start. Entrees were halibut with fava and pea hummus, fragola, pea tendrils, mint and spicy oil. The other entree was roast chicken with fingerling potatoes, spring onions, salsa verde and roasted jus. Also ordered the Mac and Cheese as a side. Both entrees and the Mac were a big yum, very well prepared. Service here is always exceptional, friendly and helpful. For beverages my wife had a Pinot Blanc and I went with a dark lager beer. Attempted to eat here with my 89-year old father who got the recommendation from his neighbor. He actually drove there prior to the day of the dinner to ensure he knew the directions. We arrived 10min before the reservation. The restaurant uses "resy" which I've definitely experienced problems with in the past. The server couldn't find our reservation and instead of accommodating us- proceeded to tell us she could do nothing without seeing our confirmation email. My Dad had made the reservation but couldn't find the confirmation email - so we were offered to sit at the bar. Gee thanks. I was able to make a reservation online right then to be seated shortly after. Why wouldn't the server have offered that instead of relegating us to the bar!!! Not accommodating and too rigid in their response. Ladies- let's think creatively instead of using a half-arse reservation system to dictate how you communicate to guests. Lack of experience in restaurant management seems to be the issue. Another woman was less than accommodating as well. Learn manners, learn hospitality and for goodness sakes, turn the lights up. They probably could have been more attentive, I'm saying this because I had to ask for my water to be refilled. Maybe it's because we were sitting outside, I'm really not sure. Food itself was very tasty. It was burger night, so we had to try that & it was very good considering it was $28 served with fries & a pickle. We ordered a variety of foods to taste & they were all good. My favorite was the substitute Lemon Tart for dessert. It replaced their mousse on the menu & I'm glad we tried it because it was delicious. Parking can be difficult because it's only street parking. The restaurant is warm, the service friendly and the food excellent all around-- fresh local oysters, pickled vegetables, a tasty squash salad and more. I had dinner at the Spinster Sisters with relatives I haven't seen in 15 years. We all had a great time. The Spinster Sisters is a pleasant restaurant. Service was kind and the food was good. It wasn't Michelin gourmet, but the cooking tasted fine. I did enjoy my baccala fritters. They were great. My tuna entree was good, and was prepared well.
