In the area for work and was treated to KIN by colleagues for lunch. This gem was recommended highly by locals and I can see why. We were seated right away and drink orders were taken timely. The table ordered shareable fried pickles and Brussel sprouts for appetizers. Both were crispy and seasoned well. Sprouts can have a bitter aftertaste if done incorrectly but Kin's were crispy yet tender inside. It was dressed with bacon and grated Parmesan. I ordered the Chicken Pesto sandwich. I would have loved a much thinner bread for the sandwich or it being panini style. My only pickle about this sandwich was the bread top was too thick and the chicken got lost in the sandwich. A stronger basil flavor in the pesto would have also done the sandwich justice. Overall, seems a good spot for lunch and dinner. read more

I'm a solo diner and like to sit at the bar. Nicole is usually the bartender when I come in, she's awesome and I love chatting with her. Tonight I had great service from JC. I usually get the Tuscan Chicken or Shrimp and Polenta. Tonight I had the Bourbon Glazed Pork Chop and it was wonderful but the Tuscan Chicken has my heart.. We stopped into Kin on the Windsor Town Green and, even though it was a full house, sitting at the bar ended up being the best decision. My boyfriend and I wanted to try something different, and everything--from the cocktails to the salad and the main course was absolutely spectacular. Don't be a dummy like me if you go to Kin. Don't order a full Wedge Salad as it is beyond huge using a full half head of iceberg lettuce which is three times what I'm used to order the half wedge instead as it is still 1/4 of a head of iceberg and still bigger than most more expensive wedge salads out there in Sonoma County. It was indeed good though but unless you want to only eat salad, order their salads as halves. The half beet salad was also pronounce as good though my friend opined the dressing was a bit overdone so order it on the side. Kin is an interesting "all in one' place. As you enter on a Friday night, you are hit with a cacophonous sports bar feel in the echoey space. We were led through the first much quieter separated dining room, through the second and into the the third which is designed it seems for private large groups to reserve; the four of us sat next to a boisterous party of 7 couples seated at a long table arrangement. So the space was loud and the restaurant could use some sound deadening materials as the concrete floors reflect a lot of sound off the unadorned spaces. Kin can serve as s sports bar, a pizza joint or a burger joint though half of us wanted to try some of their more "fine dining" offerings; the Short Rib, recommended by the waitress, were very good as was the Shrimp and Polenta entree. Larger portions. The waitress steered my friend away from the fish tacos towards the burger when he asked which to order and he said it was good. I had the Roast Beef Dip and it was very good as were the garlic fries and though I didn't dip the sandwich in the large bowl of dip it did taste nice and savory without too much salt. The Frickles were the only appetizer we ordered to share and they were ok; perfect for bar food. So Kin has been wise to offer a lot of options to different customer tasted but be prepared for a loud space designed for the under 50 crowd though we are older. A good choice for many and if three or four of you want the same salad just order one and share; it will be plenty. We are local and try to support our local businesses which is why we held my son's engagement dinner at Kin. However we were quickly disappointed. For starters when ordering drinks most of the drinks were out of stock, basic drinks that all other restaurants always have in stock. We ordered our salads and entrees. Once again disappointed when we received our entrees before our salads. Steaks were ordered medium rare and medium but they were well done and overcooked, chicken was dry. We asked for extra pesto with our chicken instead received no pesto. We were never asked if we wanted another drink after our initial order. It was very obvious that our server was overloaded as we sparenly saw him and probably why we didnt get out salads in order before our entrees. I asked for the manager and one of the servers came to the table and indicated that he was in charge. I immediately identified the problem. We chose this restaurant for its vegetarian friendly menu and healthy options for omnivores. Our food was fresh, delicious, and the service was great. On a side note, as a new vegetarian, I was pleased to experience creativity and a rich, fulfilling meal. The cream of mushroom soup didn't look appetizing but it was so good that I wanted to lick my cup clean. And pairing pear with Brie and caramelized onions was genius. My friend did, and it blew my order away. The sauce with the calamari was terrible, like what?! Maybe offer two kinds or at least check in with your customer after the food is delivered. Appetizers came out within minutes of offering-piping hot wings and calamari---both didn't disappoint. The calamari was crispy and fresh. The wings were supe crispy. The truffle sauce was good as was the dipping sauce . The beet salad was good too. The Mac n cheese portion size was massive. I like the Smokey flavor: The pear sandwich was just ok. The onions overpowered the flavors of the Brie and the pear. The burger was really good, the patty was a tad salty but still really good. The locally made soda pop was hella good. I love KIN! I've been here a handful of times and was more recently here this past Monday for happy hour with my grandma. They have such a great happy hour and every time I go I'm shocked that there aren't more people there for it. Their happy hour is M-F 3-5:30. We got the crab dip to share and iykyk. Their crab dip is SO good and I have to get it every time I come. I got the purist pizza (with a side of ranch of course) and my grandma got the chicken taquitos, each off the happy hour menu and we were both more than happy with our food and such a great value. I've also gotten the loaded focaccia off the happy hour menu and the frickles off the regular menu before and they're both delicious. The service is always fast and friendly here as well. Not our first time here; not even fifth! But, although we can't keep track, it will not be the last time. Here with a small group for lunch, and we used the patio, which is well-decorated, shady, and a nice place to relax. We ordered a lot, but will focus on those items for which there are photos. For an appetizer, I ordered the hot crab dip (Dungeness crab, creamy sriracha & melted brie dip, served hot with toasted French bread), and the Frickles (tempura-battered dill pickles, dredged in panko breadcrumbs, served crispy with house-made ranch dressing). For entrees, there were Wedge salads (Two iceberg wedges, applewood smoked bacon, sliced pear, Pt. Reyes bleu cheese dressing, and two of these were half, and one full; Grilled chicken pesto sandwich (Grilled chicken breast, shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, melted mozzarella, pesto aioli, toasted telera bread); Roasted pear and Brie sandwich (Sliced roasted D'Anjou pears, caramelized onions, mixed greens dressed in balsamic vinaigrette, melted brie, toasted telera bread); and a crispy chicken sandwich (Panko Breaded chicken Breast, Hot Honey, Sesame Granny smith apple slaw, with Spicy Mayo on a toasted brioche bun). The Frickles are always popular, and if it weren't for the large size of the entrees and salads, I would have to order one of these just for myself! They were hot and not greasy, and the ranch side is tasty. The crab dip is also a favorite, accompanied by plenty of toasted bread to share with everyone. The sandwiches were all well-liked, and the one I had, the pear and brie, was amazing. I have had pears and brie in salads before, but on a sandwich, these two different and complementary flavors, along with the caramelized onions, are perfect. The light bread was good for this as well, as the focus was on the fillings. A new favorite for me. As for the salads, the "wedge" is not a small one! If you order the full wedge salad, you may be requesting a to-go box. Fair warning! There are plenty of toppings, and the dressing is amazingly rich. Of the six of us four ordered burgers, one ordered meatloaf sandwich, and one ordered the shrimp and polenta entree with a wedge salad. We ordered the calamari to start with. It came temperature hot. It had a great batter. It was strips of calamari. Very good. On this visit I had the Kin burger with garlic fries and a cola. The 1/2 lb burger was more than what I eat. Immediately I cut it in half knowing I was going to eat half only. I ordered medium well and it was cooked that way. Also choice of fries or tots. I went with garlic fries. The minced garlic cooled my fries. I'd probably skip that option next time. Everyone enjoyed what they had. First time here, was a spur of the moment dinner. Ordered a glass of Pinot noir (banshee) and that was a great start! Appetizers, we ordered fried pickles (my wife said these were best she has had) and we had Brussels sprouts, which had some nice bacon pieces and were cooked to perfection with a nice crispness. We ordered half salads (which is something a lot of restaurants do not offer, I got the Caesar and she got the wedge, my Caesar was perfect... loved it. This charming New American gastropub is nestled in a quaint downtown area with a very inviting ambiance. The nearby park is perfect for a leisurely stroll after your meal. The downtown layout reminds me of some other small teams I've visited in Northern California and it's just incredibly charming. I opted for the chicken curry soup and the fall risotto. I really enjoyed the soup. The portion of the fall risotto was unexpectedly large, which was a lot of bang for my buck. However, the risotto was a bit too heavy on the cream for me, so it wasn't really to my taste. I tried some of the rib eye steak and thought that was delicious.
