Caviar with crispy leeks, cured egg yolk, and crème fraiche
    Nicole N.

This restaurant was one of our favorites on the entire trip to Napa. We were able to find parking with no problem on the street and got seated for our reservation right away. We started with drinks and it was one of the best martinis we have had in a long time. The caviar dish was so special because the crispy leeks really helped the caviar shine. Second favorite was the scallop dish. They were so tender and cooked beautifully. Our entree wasn't quite right because the cut we had was too tough to cut. But, the staff made it right and fired us up a new one that was much better. 10/10 service!

A great dinner option for Mon-Wed in Healdsburg! We had a nice dinner at Valette in April '26 on a Tuesday evening, when tourism hasn't picked-up yet, and Healdsburg is mostly a ghost town in the evenings. The restaurant, one of a few owned by the same family/company, prides itself on highlighting local ingredients. As can be seen on the attached photo of my pork entree, the ingredients don't disappoint. Just take a look at the two adorable turnips; possibly the cutest vegetable I've even been served. The proteins were tasty (pork, sole, duck), although my pork was a little overdone. Entree sides were pretty good and healthy, although pairings weren't perfect. Possibly because of rotating local produce. For example, my pork was said to be served with charred cabbage, and I was expecting some crunch / seasoning. Valette excelled at sweet sides and deserts, all of which were delicious. They had a vegan entree option and a great selection of starters and apps. We had the charcuterie which was excellent. Service was good, although our server seemed always rushed. It's admirable that Valette offers benefits to its employees, as listed on the menu. The ambiance on the patio was very nice; possibly the nicest parklette I've eaten in. Overall Valette is a good option for New California / Stakehouse fare, and is located right off the park in downtown; perfect location for walking or window shopping.

We came here on our honeymoon and it truly made the night feel so special. They even printed a custom menu for us with "Congratulations" at the top, which was such a thoughtful touch. They were incredibly accommodating with my vegan diet and allium allergy, creating a special cauliflower steak and vegetable dish just for me. Everything felt so attentive and personalized--such a wonderful experience!

Burratta and focaccia. Bread had a grocery store feeling.

Ok.....we wanted to try this restaurant because it had great reviews/stars. However, the food was very disappointing. But, first....the ambiance was trendy, chic country, and on point. The gentleman that seated us was nice and even opened the door when we left. The service was good and friendly, but could have stepped it up a little. The food.....the flavors were horrible and bland. We each had the same salad. The dressing was a smeared sour cream (sure it was called something else) on the bottom with goddess dressing droplets on the side. The salad was pretty, but dressing had no taste. The burratta and focaccia was tangy and bland. The focaccia was white bread from a grocery store that was barely toasted. The lamb ribs were ok, but greasy and the sauce had no flavor. The Japanese sweet potatoes were a pile of fried potatoes with another bland creamy sauce. The wine was excellent.

Celebrating the start of January. Jacob, our attentive server, welcomed us and provided wonderful service throughout the evening. We sat outside on the cozy beautiful patio. The atmosphere was charming and inviting--perfect for a relaxed yet refined meal. Loved the menu. Every dish we ordered showcased incredible attention to detail. The flavors, presentation, and quality truly exceeded our expectations. I was personally impressed with the way my steak was prepared. It was perfect. We will be back. Thank you for a special dining experience.

I felt it was a 5 star experience from my end but my moms duck was very tough. We had a lovely server, on pinpoint and friendly. The atmosphere is lively and in the small space not too loud. Ordered cocktails which everyone was happy with and a few glasses of wine. My salad was very nice, fresh veg and a creamy dressing. Also had a steak tartare which I loved. My partner had the "best mussels he's ever had". The scallops and steak were also delish and a fun presentation on the scallop. Duck breast - tough, mom couldn't cut it, I tried to help thinking smaller pieces would help but unfortunately it just wasn't good. Definitely pricey but if I'm back in Healdsburg for an occasion I definitely go again.

    Birthday celebration

If you ever find yourself in Healdsburg, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Valette -- this place is truly a five-star experience every single time. I've been a few times, but my most recent visit back in August for my birthday was on a whole different level. From the moment we sat down, everything felt so thoughtfully curated. They surprised me with a personalized menu that had a birthday message printed on it -- such a small detail, but it made the whole evening feel extra special, like the experience was crafted just for us. And the food... wow. Saying the chef did their thing is honestly an understatement. Every dish was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and just absolutely phenomenal. The cocktails, appetizers, entrées -- everything was perfectly on point. Since they knew it was our birthday celebration, they brought out a complimentary dessert with a little candle, and the three of us had the cutest moment together. It was the sweetest touch to end an already unforgettable night. Valette never disappoints. If you're looking for incredible food, top-tier service, and an elevated dining experience that still feels warm and personal -- this is the place to go in Healdsburg. Highly, highly recommend.

From the moment we arrived, Valette had us. The restaurant is stunning -- a beautifully designed interior that flows seamlessly into a gorgeous outdoor dining area. We knew immediately this was going to be a special night. We went all in with the chef's prix fixe menu, and it delivered from the very first bite. Warm, homemade dinner rolls -- fragrant with thyme, garlic, and chili flakes, served alongside pillowy whipped butter -- set the tone perfectly. We loved them so much we asked for a second basket without a moment's hesitation. The Sonoma County Organic Salad that followed was nothing short of a revelation: crisp Little Gem lettuce, Pioneer Micro Herbs and edible flowers, beautifully shaved vegetables, whipped fromage blanc, and a Green Goddess dressing that tied it all together with effortless elegance. Perfection is the only word for it. For our entrées, the Petrale Sole Meunière was a masterclass in refined, soulful cooking -- the Costeaux sourdough croutons, potato fondant, haricot verts, and caper beurre noisette working in perfect harmony. And the pork porchetta with nduja? Cooked flawlessly, bold, deeply satisfying, and utterly memorable. We paired the meal with the Valette Rosé of Pinot Noir, which has instantly earned a place among the finest rosés we've ever tasted -- vibrant, nuanced, and a dream with every course. Dessert brought the ItsNotA 'Snickers Bar' and the Almond Frangipane, both executed brilliantly and the ideal sweet finale to an extraordinary meal. Valette isn't just a great restaurant -- it's our new favorite dining destination, full stop. We'll be back, again and again.

Valette Walked into a beautiful restaurant with sleek style and cool ambiance. I had the restaurant staff have 2 glasses of champagne reserve brut something Monthuy's Reserve Brut set up for when we arrived and it was good & Toasty Brioche and citrus notes champagne which was perfect way to start the event. And there was a birthday card for Mike on the table which was sweet! Isaac came over to the table and gave us the specials for the night and I was all about the chefs menu of 5 courses with wine pairings! And what was great was they let me choose all of our wines from the wine list because I'm an advanced certified sommelier!. But this definitely had me excited so for the dinner that awaited us. And the 5 course menu cost $135 X 2 = $270.00 Plus reserve wines pairing. $75 X 2 = $150.00 Plus. 2 glasses of the reserve Champagne $46.00 = $466.00 + 14+ for the staff added + 479 + 46 for tax = 525.80 + 150 cash tip. 1st course we had the Oeaetra Caviar - with cured egg, smoked white sturgeon, and buttermilk brioche toast and I chose the Sancerre for Mike and the Matanzas Creek Dry Chenin Blanc for myself and the wines paired beautifully with the caviar. 2nd Course - Scallop encroute- Squid Ink - Melted Leek & Fennel Caviar Beurre Blanc and I paired the David Ramey Chardonnay for Valette with this and the nuanced tropical fruit and apple flavors into the brioche notes of buttered toast with oak! 3rd Course- Porchetta' Tortellini en Brodo: Prosciutto - Parmesan, Crispy Pork Skin. Paired with Pinot Noirs, mine was the savory styled Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley named Chev for $35/glass and wow it was exquisite along with the prosciutto in tortellinis made for plate presentation and lightly delicate with soul and vigor at the same time! Mike had the Lando Pinot Noir which is from Sonoma Coast and is a more juicy styled Pinot Noir 4th Course- Brown Butter Poached Filet Braised Short Rib - Sauce Bordelaise Heirloom Carrot Puree - Cipollini onion and wow the entree was rich, dense and full of flavor which went spectacularly with the Aperture Cabernet Sauvignon at. $36/ glass and drinking really well that evening and paired well to the big rich filet mignon and short ribs 5th Course- Smoked Volo Chocolate Pave Mousse Cake - Graham Cracker Crumbles Toasted Meringue - Oven Roasted Cherries was delicious and was paired with a Juracon dessert wine and I had a 10 year old Malmsey Madeira and it was a great meal- one of the best all time!! Meals on this Earth!!!

Headline: An Unforgettable Birthday Celebration at a Healdsburg Gem We chose Valette for a birthday celebration, and it was, hands down, the best decision we could have made. From the moment we sat down at the best seats in the house, the personal touches were everywhere--even the menu was personalized with the birthday girl's name. The service was impeccable. Our server, Jacob, was a delight; his deep knowledge of the menu helped us navigate our choices, and his expertise in decanting our 2006 Hewitt Cabernet was much appreciated. We started with the only French Champagne offered by the glass, which paired beautifully with the Tsar Nicoulai Osetra Caviar. While the bowl's design made the caviar slightly hard to reach, the flavors were so stunning we found ourselves pining for more. For entrees, the Liberty Farms Duck Breast was a standout--perfectly medium-rare and easily some of the best duck I've ever had. The Prime New York Strip was equally impressive; the meat was so flavorful on its own that the side of sauce Raifort wasn't even necessary. We finished with two delicate cakes and a lovely visit from the owner, who shared some of the restaurant's multi-generational history. We left feeling truly special.

TLDR: Lovely nighttime ambiance paired with refined and delicious food. Scallops like I've never had them before. Fantastic experience with great service -- will definitely be back. ------ FOOD: 1. Scallop (5/5) Tasty, fun, and unique. The scallop is served in a small pot covered by a beautiful puff pastry that you break through and eat with the scallop. Wish there was more than one scallop, but for an appetizer, this was probably the perfect portion. 2. Trout (5/5) Fantastic trout dish with well-seasoned, buttery layers. Not dry. 3. Salad (4.5/5) Great salad, would definitely order again. 4. Snickers Dessert (4/5) Essentially a homemade Snickers bar. Was delicious, but as a dessert lover, I will say that this didn't fully satisfy my sweet tooth craving. ------ SERVICE: * No notes, I thought it was a lovely experience and the waiters checked in on us consistently throughout the night without feeling overbearing. They were very kind to us ------ AMBIANCE / ENVIRONMENT: * Loved the ambiance here. Dark, romantic, cozy. Perfect for a date night!

Valette does not disappoint. It is a must stop in Healdsburg always! Food, service and ambiance are perfect.

I spent weeks searching for a new to me restaurant to celebrate my 40th and Valette couldn't have been any better of a choice. From start to finish it checked every box. First I want to say how amazing the service was. We waited not wanted for nothing an it was such a pleasure to be waited on by such a crew. Then dinner. I go to very high end restaurants regularly and eat out every day of the week. This meal was in the top class. Every course was executed perfectly. They also gave my wife and I separate courses for our "trust us" dinner so we ended up having 11 courses instead of 6. There is no. Better value around as far as that option goes. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and in a beautiful part of town. Please do yourself a favor and have a dinner here.

Does this place have a bar with seatings?

Yes, at least as of March 2025!

Does the tasting menu include a dessert?

    Yes!

How is outdoor seating for Winter?

They have heaters out there so it's not a problem.

Do they have a gluten free menu?

All that said, there were a few service touchpoints that felt out of step with a Michelin three-star and #1 La Liste experience. My husband and I were hosting local friends to celebrate a major milestone of theirs. I had pre-ordered and pre-authorized Champagne to be ready on the terrace upon arrival. Instead, we were led to our seats, handed beverage menus, and asked for our order -- I shouldn't have had to remind the restaurant of an arrangement I'd made in advance. Worse, after we'd already taken our first sips, a server tried to top off my glass from another table's bottle of Champagne. These things happen, but it reads as sloppy and unprepared for an establishment of this level. Once we moved into the dining room, things were looking up -- until the wine glasses arrived. Two of the four had to be sent back for a soapy smell. That's simply not acceptable at a three-star establishment. It's a shame these lapses colored the experience this way because at this price point and with these accolades, I expected more. Instead I'm left thinking back to the Charlie Trotter's two stars and wondering what kind of curve Michelin might be using.
