As a local Quail & Condor patron I find them to be a great addition to the Healdsburg community. However, time & time again I find there to be inefficiency with service at the selection area when staff walks away to deal with other issues. Quail and Condor was one of our favorite spots when visiting Healdsburg for the first time. One of the first distinctive notes we found with Quail and Condor was that it was located in a pretty big warehouse-like structure. There are tall ceilings and a good number of tables/seats indoor and some smaller tables outside. On a Saturday late morning while we were there, we did notice that there was pretty constantly a line. However, it is pretty fast moving and took us about 10 minutes to get through ourselves. You'll start by seeing some merchandise and online orders before getting to the baked goods, drinks/cakes, and the cashier. The staff was super friendly and helpful in answering our questions and offering suggestions. Once you order, you get a number if you're eating in and can grab cutlery, water cups/water, and look for a seat. There is also a good restroom that was clean. We sat on one of the bigger tables/benches and our order came in about 7 minutes. Here's what we ordered: +Veggie quiche: One of the best items we had. Loved the flaky pie crust and how big it was. The quiche was delicious and came with a small side salad. +Ham and cheese croissant: A good croissant. Loved the everything bagel-like seasoning on top. I think this being warmed up would go the extra mile. +/-Ricotta and jam toast: The toast was good here. But the ricotta/jam were a little bland. Would have benefitted from a little more of a bold flavor to help give it a distinctive taste. -Iced matcha latte: We also ordered the iced matcha latte. They didn't have almond milk so opted for oat milk. Unfortunately this was the weakest item we had personally. The oat milk was a bit too strong and combined with the matcha used, it left with a bit of a strange aftertaste. Parking wasn't too hard as it was in a pretty big parking lot. I was staying nearby Quail and Condor and had breakfast there two days in a row! I ordered the same thing both days, the Turkish breakfast, since it was so amazing the first day. When you walk into this breakfast and brunch spot, you see display cases filled with pastries! It would be hard to choose just one. They also have loaves of bread. We ordered off the breakfast menu, and I also got a latte. The service was really good both days. They bring your food out to your table. This is also a nice place to hang out, with a mellow vibe and high ceilings. The outside seating looked nice as well. I think if I lived nearby, I'd come here weekly! read more

Came to Healdsburg for the first time and did some ezploring around town and this place is thr most modern one with delciious pastries. The line was not too bad.. Maybe a 10 min wait. I got their giant cinnomon roll and their berry scone. Cinnamon roll was great but the berry scone was a suprise because it had berry between the scone but when I bit into it, it had a layer of almond paste as well. You couldn't see it by lookinh at the scone. Sssssssooo gggooood and different. The texture of the scone was perfect. I would be back for this one for sure. read more

While the coffee drinks aren't my favorite and the service can be slow, the friendly staff makes up for the pace. This is a delayed review for Quail and Condor due to a pause. Some friends recommended Quail and Condor. The baked goods were phenomenal, and we can see why this is a popular spot! Being a well-known bakery in the area, my companion chose to pre-order our items. When we arrived, the pickup was easy, and we enjoyed our treats outside with the pup. The bakery is cute, charming, open, and airy. The staff who helped us were great. There are some tables inside for working, as well as benches outside. All items are on display for easy viewing. Companion bought us the Parmesan Onion Biscuit, Chocolate Croissant, Fruit and Marzipan Scone, and Salted Egg Morning Bun. I'd say everything was delicious. My favorite was the morning bun. The texture, taste, and portion size were all there. Everything was buttery and flaky, and the fillings weren't skimped. I can understand why this is a go-to spot for baked goods! There are a variety of bakeries in the area, but Quail and Condor seem to be beloved by locals and visitors alike. Find them off Mill Street in a little complex with free parking. My favorites are the Kouign Amann which has an excellent flake and caramel flavor and the chocolate croissant which uses high quality dandelion chocolate. Tried the "twice baked" croissant today. Was excellent, with a super buttery and flakey croissant with a nice creamy gruyere spinach filling. The bread is also fantastic. Has a nice seating area with plenty of seats. First time visiting this bakery and coffee shop. Super popular tiny little place with many options. They have a packed parking lot but also street parking. They have a few picnic tables outside in the parking lot to enjoy your treats. I went a little wild cuz who knows when I'll be back up in Healdsburg and in case you didn't know, baked goods freeze very well and taste like new when thawed a warmed. This is an almost cafeteria style bakery/restaurant. You stand in line while viewing the gorgeous breads and pastries available. Tge staff puts your requests on a tray and they bring it, along with a number sign, to your table. They bring the rest of your orders and drinks once they are prepared. I chose the gluten-free chocolate chip cookies and gluten-free cheese roll from the pastries section, then the veggie quiche for my entree, along with a cold brew. The cookies have a crispy edge with slightly chewy center and just a hint of salt to balance out the sweet. If my friends and I didn't have a whole day planned out, I would have bought all of the cheese rolls. OMG, were those divine. Crispy outside, with a perfect, cheesy inside. So good. If this spot is good enough for the NY Times to name it one of the best bakeries in the nation, it's good enough for you. All the pastries we had were A+ and worth it. Everything we ordered was exceptional. The Veggie Quiche was thicker than a textbook, custardy and light. I ordered a Marzipan Berry Scone for a friend that I took home and they loved it. There's plenty of seating and four of us chatted forever. The acoustics are great, there are water pitchers to stay hydrated, and if I lived here this would be a favorite spot no contest. My only regret is that I didn't leave with a Challah. Tip these beautiful beloved bakers well. And stop complaining about excellence. read more

NEW LOCATION!!! 44 Mill Street. Just around the corner from their old location but with a big parking lot and lots of indoor seating. The new space is still lacking personality and needs some art on the walls or something, but I'm so glad we can now get our food here and eat indoors! The options for pastries are basically the same but they seem to have a few more cooked options like a Turkish Breakfast and Baked eggs. I don't recall that on the menu before. This morning, I tried their Onion Parmesan biscuit. It was delicious! I have to admit that I was disappointed they had sold out of their Lox Toast this morning, but it's just too popular! The Pumpkin Passionfruit cake was delightfully light and moist, although the passionfruit seeds on top burst in a way that I wasn't thrilled by. The Kouinn Amman is always the best one you can find. Finally tried Quail and Condor, and it didn't disappoint! We went on a Monday morning and the line was already at the door. Service was friend and fast. Our favorite pastry was the marzipan and blueberry scone. I've never had anything like it! Loved the biscuit too, it was flaky on the inside and crisp on the outside. I love a good chocolate chip cookie and it didn't disappoint. For breakfast we had the avocado toast. I thought it was okay. The bread was really good, but the avocado was just plain. I know they're known for the bread and pastries, but don't sleep on the quiche. That was by far my favorite item - so soft and jiggly (almost like steamed egg), and not too cheesy. So so so good. Lox toast was fine, I liked the rye bread but fish was a bit fishy for my taste. The biscuit (red miso, caramelized onion, parmesan) and crème brûlée tart were just fine imo, but my friend seemed to like the biscuit. Initially my partner didn't love the cinnamon roll because of the texture, but he liked it the more he ate it, and ended up declaring he really liked it, especially the flavor and the frosting. Super seed bread was fine too, it's a pretty moist bread and a bit more dense than my preferred style, but it might be because of the shape. I've been wanting to visit Quail & Condor for what feels like forever, and I finally made it this past weekend! I'd heard so much about their legendary pastries, especially after it was named one of the 22 best bakeries in the U.S. by The New York Times last year. We got there early enough so that we were not disappointed with items selling out. While the line was fairly long as we anticipated, it moved surprisingly quickly, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. It was hard to make a selection from all the decadent options, but everything we selected was simply exquisite. The Parmesan & Onion Biscuit was a rich, buttery, and flaky delight. The Feta, Tomato, and Tzatziki pastry was a refreshing and unique twist on a classic Mediterranean flavor. The Ham and Cheese Croissant had a delightful light and flaky exterior, complemented by a rich and salty interior filling. On the sweet side, the Marzipan and Huckleberry scone was a resounding hit. The stacked scone provided ample space for generous amounts of jam and marzipan filling, which shone through. The Fig Jam, Rosemary & Creme Brulée Danish is an interesting twist of flavors & not overly sweet. I bought a butter popcorn morning bun. Strawberry Basque cheesecake twice-baked, Sarah's Canele, Ham & Cheese croissant, and Quiche. Yesterday I bought the morning bun, and it was filled with amazing cream. Today it was missing the cream. I was disappointed that the canele had no custard, and it seemed unevenly baked, even though it stated it had custard with a rum flavor. The amount of ham and cheese could be more, but maybe the large croissant wrap is very generous. The quiche was good. I went to the bakery before they moved down the street. The quality has gone down since my last visit. Next time, I will check the $5 canele to see if it has custard. read more

After watching the owner of this shop compete on a Food Network TV show, I knew I had to make a trip to her bakery! The line was surprisingly short for a Saturday around 10am. I ordered a variety of pastries and a loaf of the olive bread. My favorite pastry was probably the cheddar and chive biscuit - it had a delicious, crispy exterior while the interior remained soft and moist. My favorite pastry shop in Sonoma! There's usually a line out the door on weekends so I like to order ahead and pick up at the window. Not everything is available as preorder though. Their laminated pastries are fantastic! Really enjoy the creativity of some of their pastries! The creme brûlée danish, and the squash blossom potato danish have been some of our favorites! Of note, the prices here are not cheap... most of their pastries are more expensive than some of my fav SF shops. The parking lot is super small and narrow, so often parking on the street is easiest! read more

Quail and Condor drew my attention to the radiant reviews they bring in. I finally was able to make my way over there to see what this place was all about. When you walk in, there is a lot of open space and the inside felt comfortable. There was an open and flowing environment. That was great! So, where did it go wrong? The prices were just sky rocketed into another dimension. $7 a muffin and $7 a scone. I seem to have much better luck at the Farmers Market for less. I get it, there is a fancy building that needs to be paid for. Don't come here for dairy free option if you're looking for something in the sweet and savory department. There are GF options but those are still rittled and laced with butter and dairy. Like, bread is your only choice if you're dairy free. The gentlemen that helped me told me to get a loaf of bread. So I did. $12. I went with the Rosemary, olive oil and sea salt focaccia bread. The good news is, it was nice and soft like an Air b n b pillow. The bad news is, it had more salt than the ocean. With copious amounts of olive oil saturated the bag before I left the parking lot (see attached pic). My husband was not a fan either and we left the loaf of bread out for the pigeons. read more

So... my husband and I both have lived in SF and had their pastries, gone to Paris to have their pastries, and we want to say..... Quail and Condor is the best we've ever had. Period..!!! Quiche-- it was jiggly!! Like when you moved the plate, the thing jiggled!! I hate when quiches are too eggy like they have a scrambled egg texture, or when they're too creamy and feels like you're eating just cream. This one was PERFECTly in the middle. Super well done, flaky crust, and great flavors. Pistachio Knot-- so good. Had light pistachio flavors and there was a good amount of crispy textures as well as moist and buttery bread that pulled apart beautifully Onion and Parm Biscuit-- also incredible. I ordered a black coffee with a pain chocolat and from the first bite I was transported to France, reminiscing of eating pain chocolat with espresso while exploring the city. Their savory options are equally incredible. Nice variety of coffee options. Small parking lot. Few bistro style eating areas right around the bakery and some picnic tables scattered at the edges of the parking lot. Easy walk from Healdsburg Plaza. Definitely recommend getting there super early if going on a weekend day since they get slammed with hour long wait being typical.
