The downtown layout reminds me of some other small teams I've visited in Northern California and it's just incredibly charming. I opted for the chicken curry soup and the fall risotto. I really enjoyed the soup. The portion of the fall risotto was unexpectedly large, which was a lot of bang for my buck. However, the risotto was a bit too heavy on the cream for me, so it wasn't really to my taste. I tried some of the rib eye steak and thought that was delicious. Came here on a Saturday for our wedding anniversary dinner date. Place was packed, very busy. We had a reservation, waited 5 minutes to be seated. Our server was polite and kind. We ordered fried calamari for appetizer, then the YBC burger with butternut squash soup and the Birria Bucatini. The calamari was delicious and squid tasted so fresh. The angus burger for the YBC was so soft, juicy and delicious. The butternut squash soup was so tasty. Giving it 2 stars because the Birria Bucatini was very salty. Tasted like someone was angry and poured a teaspoon of salt on it. Kind of destroyed our mood, because it was our anniversary date and we went there for the food. My husband didn't finish the food, we asked for hot sauce to fix the taste a bit but it was really too salty. I usually give high reviews unless something annoyed me and my tolerance is usually high. Since I live down the street, Kin is our go to place. My husband loves to go watch football at the bar and has made a few friends. I'm a vegetarian, the menu is limited but I like what I order. This is one of the few restaurants open after 9pm on a Friday in Windsor and we had just checked in to our Airbnb looking for a place to eat. The restaurant was not too busy and the waitress sat us down in the back area. I was more hopeful that the food would be good looking at previous reviews and the menu. However, the food taste and quality did not measure up to my expectations. We had asked the waitress for recommendations and if certain dishes were good. For starters we had the Crab dip and Truffalo Wings (a spin on buffalo and truffle oil sauced wings). The wings honestly the best thing we ate here. The crab dip barely tasted like crab. I didn't see any chunks of crab. The cream cheese and sriracha overpowered it. I could have skipped this dish and ordered double wings instead. I ordered the Braised short Rib for entree. The description said red wine Demi-glacé, which sounded good. I was expecting a rich red sauce. The dish was more like a pot roast with brown gravy. Had I known it would come like that, I would not have ordered it. My partner said the fish tacos were ok. We told the waitress how we felt about the food and it was kind of shrugged off at first. Her statement was "that's how it comes, sorry." And walked away. She did however, wind up giving us a discount when she brought the check since we were not happy with the food. I would say that this time I was deceived by the Yelp Sort function. Had I sorted it by most recent I would have seen the food was not as good. She was friendly, and made us feel welcomed. She was super attentive and engaged with us. They also worked as teams; so so had some help from others. The food was also incredible. For my meal, I chose the Mac-Daddy Pizza with a side of ranch & Caesar Salad with added Grilled Shrimp. - The Caesar Salad had crisp romaine lettuce, crispy house made croutons, & perfectly grilled shrimp. Seasoning was flavorful. - The 'Mac-Daddy' Pizza had a crispy & slightly crunchy crust. Which I enjoyed! The paired texture, with the topping of cheesy-creamy corkscrew Mac'n'Cheese had me craving more with every bite. This dish is very rich, & I did order the smallest size, to which I only enjoyed half of the pizza. This pizza is a red sauce based pie & is topped with crumbled applewood smoked bacon. DROOL! I needed a stop for refueling with my pup on our road trip and found this gem. They have a nice little covered patio that we sat at. I had the Cobb salad and fries pickles...yum! Our server Sky was fantastic (5/5 service) in being welcoming, fun, and informative. We happened upon KIN walking in Windsor. We were able to eat outside in a covered patio, it was very relaxing. My husband and I shared the most delicious Mac & Cheese and grilled pesto chicken sandwich. An added surprise were the tasty sweet potato tater tots. Are server, was super friendly. We always get take out here and the food is consistently delicious. The pesto chicken and dip sandwiches were perfect - the meat was melt in your mouth good on the dip, I didn't try the pesto chicken as I filled up on everything else, but everyone else said it was just as good as the rest of the food. Perfect bread that is chewy but not too soft or hard and isn't soggy even if it takes us a bit to get it home. Good portions of the Mac and cheese and Frickles, varied choice of things as sides for the sandwich was a huge bonus, and the ranch that came with the Frickles was clearly house-made and went perfectly with them. The thing that I always look forward to though is the fried Brie salad. Go for the extra Brie - it makes it. This is the only place I'll order a salad over everything else, but it's that good and more than enough no matter how hungry I am. We've ordered online and over the phone, staff are polite, friendly, and always get our special requests right (sauce on the side, food sensitivities). Tasty and affordable lunch! Popped in for a quick bite after hiking nearby at Foothills Regional Park. It was my first time here - conveniently located in downtown Windsor across from the Town Green. The casual and warm bar & grille setting was perfect post-hike. The festively-decorated restaurant was busy the day after Christmas, with lots of families and folks sitting at the bar. The American comfort food menu includes various salads, sandwiches, burgers, and pizzas (including gluten-free), as well as beer and wine. Hungry from the hike but still full from all the holiday feasting, my friend and I both ordered salads...both the fried Brie, raspberry, and grilled chicken salad. My gluten-free/celiac friend can't eat panko-crusted Brie so added goat cheese instead. She got a craft Root Beer and I chose a Cola. The salads came out so quickly and we really enjoyed them. Fresh, hearty, and satisfying! Loved the red onion zing and the light coating of dressing. The fried Brie added a little crunch and a lot of oozy, cheesy deliciousness...life is all about balance, right?! And sharing! I took home half of the chicken from my salad and my pup loved it! Have eaten here twice. Both times the customer service has been consistently good. Both times I have ordered the KIN Burger. The flavor and presentation has been consistent and uniform. The ambiance can get a little crazy when it's busy. Seating outdoors is nice even on a chilly evening with the heaters going. We decided to come in and have lunch on Tuesday at 12pm. We were greeted by one of the servers. She brought over some bottled water and asked if we'd like anything else to drink. We never really got a proper introduction so I am not sure what her name was. I chose to go with the frickles and chicken sandwhich. My boyfriend chose the Mac n and cheese with a side of fries. The frickles came out quickly. They were fresh and tasty. The burger and mac and cheese came out shortly after that. The Mac and cheese was HUGE! The presentation was the only thing that was impressive. It was a little on the salty side and overall was not very good. The side of fries was small but typical. The chicken sandwich was very good. I was impressed with how good it was. The Granny Smith apple coleslaw that came on it was delicious. The one downside of the sandwich was the bread it came on, you must eat it quick so the bread doesn't get soggy. The chicken breast came panko crusted and was cooked perfectly. Now the restaurant setting itself is pretty big. The restaurant was clean. There was a bar to sit at as well with an okay size of liquor selection. Overall,the service was just okay. The server did offer a refill which is important but other than that she didn't spend much time at the table. She was running around everywhere and we kind of waited around for her to bring a box and our bill. It was not very busy either. It didn't win so much for me in terms of flavor and sauce, but the pork chop was nicely cooked. The dip meat was on the dry side. Couldn't taste the horseradish much. Au jus was a generous portion and definitely served well for dipping and helped with the dry meat. Roasted beet salad was good. It had a couple of green leafs that were a bit fading to the yellow side. Butternut squash soup was pleasant for soup. Chicken wings were on the dry side and a bit salty. We visit Windsor several times a year and, lately KIN each trip. It has grown into our favorite restaurant. This time it was a late lunch --- usually dinner. It was quieter this time. Appreciated. This time, we had the warm crab dip (huge and delicious) appetizer and two tasty 1/2 salads (beet and caesar). With our senior appetites, they were plenty large enough to stuff us, as the crab dip/bread almost did that alone. So good. I also had a draft 805, which is becoming my standard in all our visits to KIN so far. Our server was Emily, who was busy all over but took the time to converse with us. She was very friendly, so we got a fun picture with her. She took the time to help us find a different brew and helped us get the right appetizer (partially due to dietary issues). In addition, we had an extended talk with the owner as we sat on the bar side this time, as opposed to the back room. Delightful man. Pictures of him with supporters when he opened, in the back area on the way to the restrooms. Also, for everyone's treat, the back room has some colorful art pieces of renderings. The restaurant is family owned and right across from the large Town Green, where people-watching is a delight! We'll be back soon. KIN Windsor really needs a better sign out front: it's easy to overlook it when driving past. That's a shame. because it's definitely worth noticing. The menu has a great variety of dishes without seeming overwhelming. Everything we had was delicious - in fact, when my mother and I ate there, she liked the Hawaiian BBQ wings so much that she insisted we go again for lunch the next day. I had the lasagna, which seemed like it was assembled to order rather than cut from a pan - the beef and pork Bolognese was delicious. Our only nitpick was that the restaurant seemed a little short-staffed, so our wait was a bit longer than we would have liked. We were a party of 12 and we were able to make a reservation in which they put us in the back where it was semi private and we were the only customers in there. Everything looked amazing on the menu and on Yelp so it was difficult to decide. Luckily my family let me try some of their things so here's everything I tried. KIN BURGER: this is what I ordered and I was not disappointed. I ordered it without cheese and with the sauce on the side and I imagine if you got it as is it'd be much better than my version. The bacon was my favorite part, it was crunchy and flavorful and the burger was cooked perfectly to medium rare. The sweet potato toes were VERY good and the perfect balance of sweet and salty AHI SALAD: this looked amazing, but the flavor was underwhelming FRUIT CRUMBLE (LEMON BLUEBERRY): this was actually really good, especially with the scoop of vanilla on top BAKED HOT CHOCOLATE: so my step sister admitted that this is the reason she comes to this place so we ordered 4 to share among the table. I immediately felt overwhelmed with chocolate and all though I thought it was too much I kept going back for more lol, I think I would have preferred vanilla Icecream on the side to balance the deep chocolate flavor CINNAMON SUGAR CHURROS: this was honestly my favorite dessert and I had no intention of trying it but there was leftover so I went for it. I chose to dip it in raspberry sauce since I already had so much chocolate. The sauce was yummy but the churro was nice and warm and gooey on the inside. It probably was undercooked but I loved it lol COSMO: I drank some of my step mom's blood orange cosmo and it was really bitter and citrusy , not my fav but not bad. Overall we had a good experience. We were able to have our own space to be as loud as we wanted and we hung out for a bit after and they did not rush us to leave which was very kind. While staying at a timeshare with my Sis, we discovered this great spot for dinner in the town square. Since we can be snooty foodies at times, finding a good restaurant in a small town can be dicey. But we were pleasantly surprised by the quality/variety of their menu . We owe a lot to our waitress who let us sample several wines before deciding. She really took good care of us. We started with two types of chicken wings-- bbq and truffled infused -- both were excellent. We almost sampled some nice fried calamari that wasn't greasy. For an entree the short ribs with polenta was prepared well and very satisfying. Everyone on our enjoyed their meals-- including a hefty juicy burger with quality fries and a unique fried Brie salad with chicken- yum! I have lived in Windsor for 25 years. We dine at Kin once a week, be it dinner with a friend, family members or just lunch with my grandson and daughter. I've also recommended this to many of my customers heading to Windsor inquiring- where to dine. I brought my mother here for dinner. We ordered a glass of wine each, I ordered a Cobb salad - my mom ordered a dinner salad and entree. The wine never came - my Cobb salad showed up, but mom's salad never arrived. About 20 minutes into my salad, I asked about the wine? It was poured and sitting at the bar. The server forgot to bring it. I then asked a food runner about my mom's dinner salad? The server forgot it! Once it arrived she ate her salad, but the entree never made it. I was now finished with my Cobb salad. I asked and the server about the missing entree, the server said she didn't know she ordered one? It was a Teriyaki chicken dish. It came out so fast thereafter that it looked like it was floating in teriyaki sauce. Mom didn't eat it. I called the manager 2 days later, but she said she wasn't there and I should have reported it that night. Also that it is possible the server was having a bad night. It's been 8 months, and we never returned. I post this because I'm a local and we do not have many Windsor restaurants to choose from. Sometimes, like on a Friday or Saturday, when they are the busiest, there may be a wait, but overall, the service and food have been pretty consistent. Not a place I would rush back to. The service was okay, the food was okay but overall the experience wasn't worth what it cost. We split a pizza and salad and both were meh, even though the description made them sound great. We discovered the parmesan cheese shaker had moldy cheese in it. I get it, things happen like this at times. However, when we brought it to the attention to the server, it was a 'oh that happened again' kind of response. If a restaurant is just refilling food containers that go directly to the patrons without checking them, or cleaning them, then I will conclude it's worse in the kitchen where patrons are not allowed. I've hesitated to write this because I don't like to be negative but I must be honest. We visited with a small party of 3 on a Sunday evening in November, they were busy but appeared to be well staffed. A young women took our orders, I asked about the corkage fee which she quoted $10 then disappeared for some time. We waited for the other beverages inordinately long and over a full 20 minutes or more before opening our wine. We ordered a number of dishes, crab dip, wings, wedge salads and a pizza. The bread pudding was delicious. I was not impressed with the dining area beside the bar room, felt crowded, noisy and not suited for intimate conversations with our party. Now the food was good, no complaints, however they completely forgot one salad. So my review is mainly regarding service, it wasn't good, and I feel with the amount of staff we should have received better service. This was our first visit and impressions are everything. We strive to support local businesses and we feel this was not reciprocated knowing all of the choices we have in this vast county. In paying the tab, I was presented with an electronic signature device where I could not review the itemized bill until after running the card. I saw afterwards receiving my receipt by text I was overcharged for the corkage fee by $5, a $15 fee. The staff is in need of courtesy training. I can't see myself returning. read more

I didn't have high expectations going in--I was just looking for a quick dinner for our family of four. My teen is notoriously picky and usually only enjoys either Chipotle or upscale dining, so I wasn't sure how this would go. To my surprise, the food was great! Everyone found something they liked. While the options weren't the healthiest, everything was delicious and satisfying. What really stood out was the service. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. I even managed to forget my purse, but one of the waiters ran outside to return it to me--such a kind gesture! In the future, whenever we visit Windsor, KIN will definitely be our go-to spot.
