My first outing in a long time, and this place attracted us while strolling downtown. Wonderful street front presence, with 2 great patios available (one on side is pre-COVID, on street is COVID era). The inside looked great as well, but being a beautiful day we opted for the smaller side patio. We were quickly greeted in a most friendly manner, and provided menus. Water was brought out as well (but ambient temperature, not chilled or iced). We took a moment to order some drinks first (priorities!) and we decided to "share" a KIN house margarita and a Blood Orange Cosmo. Glad we shared, although it was still one drink per drinking person, but it was nice to experience the differences in flavor. And only one was enough - they do not water down anything! (Except the water . . . bahhrump pump!) By the time the drinks arrived we had settled on some appetizers, trying the Frickles and a 1/2 wedge salad. The Frickles arrived nice and hot, and were fried pickle chips (not spears) with Ranch on the side. The wedge was enormous for "only" a 1/2 portion, and had sliced pears, applewood smoked bacon, candied walnuts and Pt. Reyes blue cheese crumbles with blue cheese dressing. It was presented quite well! The Frickles were good, well coated in breading and not greasy at all. Very nice app, would get again. And the salad was almost too much, especially if you order an entrée. But quite delicious as well. For entrees (and yes, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs!) we ordered the FULL wedge salad (TWO 1/2s!), the large Mac Daddy pizza (bacon on half only) and the Turkey Parm Burger, with yam tots as the side. I ordered extra dressing for the wedge salad, and I am glad I did! The amount of lettuce was overwhelming - definitely the largest wedge salad I have had in a long time, and well worth the $11. It is truly a meal in itself. So good I forgot a photo of the full wedge salad, but just double the 1/2 salad and you got it! The Mac Daddy pizza we just had to try, as I have never seen a macaroni and cheese pizza before. It was piled deep with creamy mac and cheese, and was so dense it was impossible to eat as finger food - a fork and knife pizza if there ever was one made! Very filling, lots left to take home. And that smoked bacon smell - decadent! The mac and cheese can also be had as an entrée by itself, and I may just try that next time. The Turkey Parm burger is a parmesan and panko breaded turkey patty, with house marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese, along with some pesto, and fresh arugula. Wow. And we added yam tater tots on the side. The burger was big and very tasty, and the chicken was well seasoned and cooked perfectly - not dry at all. The yam tots were a treat, and were very sweet with a nice consistency. Good change from the usual fries or potato tots. Too much though - half went home! Amazingly, despite to-go boxes cluttering our table, we decided to try the Berry Crumble. And glad we did! Hot, sweet, crumbly with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, it was just enough for the three of us. The only thing better than all this good food and drink was the service. Emily is a jewel in this industry. She is friendly, and social, but not at the expense of getting orders in and food out; a great balance of customer care and efficiency. I've been to Kin Restaurant a few times over the years & I thought it was time for a review. I've always have had excellent service here. Staff is knowledgeable & always smiling. The food has been delicious on every visit. My favorite appetizers are the Calamari & Dungeness Crab Dip, outstanding! You can't go wrong with the huge Burgers or French Dip. They also have a excellent NY Strip with a Coffee Rub & the Mac & Cheese bowl is incredible, creamery & loaded with cheese. Kin's also have a nice Salads available, my favorite is the Wedge Salad. They also have a excellent bar & covered outside dining if you have a furry pet along for the ride. I haven't tried their Desserts but my friends have & they all recommend the Banana Bread Pudding. Sometimes the seating in the Bar area can get loud with TV's on, so I would recommend going to a table outside of the Bar area if your looking for less noise. Give Kin's a try I'm sure you'll be pleased with the delicious food, the large portions, Fantastic wait staff & the overall good time you'll experience here. read more

On our recent visit to Windsor we selected KIN for dinner on two evening. The atmosphere was attractive, the service attentive and the food delicious. We split a wedge salad and hamburger one night. On our second visit we ordered the wedge salad again with a purist pizza. The salad was fresh with bacon bits, tomatoes, walnuts and tasty bleu cheese. The owners of KIN certainly have a winning combination of great food and service! Will certainly be back on our next visit! read more

Great Saturday night dinner! We didn't have reservations and were seated within 5 minutes, and our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, suggesting several items that were her favorites. Our group had the mushroom burger with garlic fries, the shrimp and cheesy grits? The beet salad, and the lemon gnocchi. We also ordered the brussel sprouts. Let's just say that nothing was left on our plates...except the brussel sprouts, and I believe that was because it all came out at once. Our food came out in around 10 minutes, and everything was delicious--the gnocchi was not as lemony as we had anticipated and had a creamy mushroom sauce that was sooo good! The beet salad had a light, dressing and lots of gold and red beet pieces. There was a slight licorice flavor on the backside of the dressing, but definitely not overpowering. Our friends had the burger and fries and the shrimp and grits, and they loved every bit of their meals...though if you order a burger medium rare, be prepared for it to be closer to the rare than medium. I don't mind that, but some may. The restaurant was busy, but not too busy, and while people were nicely dressed, there was a casual vibe as well. We met some friends here so we had a party of six. We had reservations and were seated promptly. We had a variety of servers seemed like they were tag teaming our table. Service wasn't overly friendly, but was expedient. The noise level was very loud. We had to almost shout to hear each other in our booth. We started with the prosciutto and burrata appetizer, which also had deep-fried almond slices which were delicious. For my main I had the chicken fajita salad, which was good. Everyone else seem to enjoy their food too. This place has the upscale, modern vibe of the new Windsor. Ok the wife and I have been here a few times now. This review is way past due. It's in walking distance from our house. They always have great beer on tap and good drinks. The last few times we have been there we have got the same waitress Katie. She Rock super friendly and helpful. Last night went on a date with the wife. She doesn't eat that much so we ordered braised short ribs dinner to split. It was so nice of them to put it on 2 different plates for us and didn't even ask them. A strong 3 stars! Great service, the staff was very friendly, polite and attentive. Also really enjoyed their outdoor dining experience, especially in the midst of COVID. The heat lamps and canopy was a very nice touch. To start it off, I enjoyed their version of a whiskey sour. And let me say, oh they poor it strong. The crab dip appetizer was very filling. However it seemed more like a cheese/artichoke dip than actual crab. The Brie salad was tasty and had an interesting touch with the fried Brie balls. They give a nice hearty portion for their braised pork rib w/ polenta and yam crisps. However the food was luke warm at best and the gravy it comes with was very salty. This place has been here for years. I'm not sure why I haven't stopped by. We were doing some wine tasting down the street and needed a bite. Sat at the bar, great service and unique cocktails. They had a shrimp pizza special a must try. The chicken wings were good. It was a late Sunday so the place was a little empty inside. This place has been a favorite over the years!! Food is consistently good. Recently went and tried happy hour menu, got the flatbread with burrata, toasted almonds, honey and arugula which was my fav. Also tried the short rib tacos and had to get garlic fries. Other times, our go to app is usually crab dip & toasted bread, truffalo wings or calamari. The house & wedge salads, so good. My friend loves the beet salad. Mains- shrimp and polenta is a perfect comfort meal! Used to always get fish tacos but they changed them and they're a little too plain for my liking now. My husband is obsessed with the dip sandwich here. Service is always good, sometimes a little slow but understandably because they're busy. I wish they could have kept the front outdoor space with heaters open for dining (best part of covid) but at least they still have the little outdoor seating on the side. If it's nice weather, I always prefer eating outside anywhere we go. Another plus is being able to bring our dog too :) We'll def be back to try other stuff on the menu! read more

Kin, in Windsor was October's food destination for our Windsor SIRs foodies. A convenient location, as at this time of year, night-time driving can be an issue for us "seasoned" adults. 20 of us gathered in the back dining room, having it all to ourselves. Kin was accommodating to our group and the food offerings were diverse, ranging from pizza to main courses of braised short ribs and polenta or a hearty pork chop, comfort food for this time of year and excellent salads for those choosing lighter fare. They treated us well and we had a good time. Kin in Windsor was a good choice for us to gather and to try out a new place or return to an old standby, and have great/interesting conversations in addition to giving our partners a night off in the kitchen. They were just perfect on a hot day, and were absolutely delicious despite the lack of cheese (on both according to the menu) or chicken (supposed to come on the kale). Let's see. I probably only have a few go-tos that I stick to when I come here. The fried brie salad, fried pickles, and chicken taquitos. The food and service is absolutely great. The bar is really nice too. Outdoor seating is beautiful across the Windsor park. They are always busy. For future orders I would probably prefer to dine in only because sometimes take out is on point or a complete miss. I've had an amazing plate of fresh taquitos dining in and have had an awful plate of dry taquitos with old brown guacamole. The fried Brie salad is pretty spectacular. I usually order extra Brie because 3 pieces is not enough. Oh and I forgot to mention their chicken wings. It's a pretty good appetizer. KIN Windsor is a great little neighborhood restaurant. It fills up quickly with locals, so reservations are strongly recommended. Five of us met there for lunch (four from San Diego and one local) last week (2/14/25). We were immediately greeted and seated quickly. Our fifth person was a little delayed, but staff were very accommodating. Most had burgers. I had the Tum Tum burger which was delicious and huge - I gave up picking it up and resorted to carving it into manageable bites. The Caesar side salad was also delicious and the right size - not too large or small. Others had the Bacon and Gorgonzola burger, which would have been my other choice, a KIN Burger, and the YBC Burger, plus one had the Lasagna. All really enjoyed the burgers and especially the fries that came with most of the burgers. I was driving, so I stuck to lemonade (which was refilled whenever it got low), and the others had a nice Balletto Pinot Noir to accompany the burgers. We finished off with a couple of the fruit crumbles (which were a lot like big apple pie pieces, with large slices of apple in a rich filling with a crumble crust), plus a large and tasty Cheesecake. Whenever we are up around Santa Rosa, we try to drop in to KIN Windsor for a meal. They never disappoint and we highly recommend KIN Windsor. read more

I had a wonderful experience at Kin, the ambiance and atmosphere was very friendly. Our waitress was awesome! However one things I would note was the food. It is a little overrated along with a bit over priced for the portion size they gave me. I ordered a pesto chicken sandwich, the chicken was a tad under seasoned and there simply wasn't enough pesto throughout the sandwich. I could barely taste the pesto at all! The side house salad was good! But again back to the actual sandwich, I wouldn't say it was the best. I would probably rather eat a sandwich at Bjs or even Apple bees which even those are slightly better. I heard the pizza was good though(according to my friend) Anyways 3.0 stars, wouldn't recommend coming back! But I'll be back to try their food once again. read more

I have been coming to KIN for at least 5 years and it is quite literally one of my favorite places in Sonoma County. Sending my best regards to the chef's kitchen, because the food quality is out of this world; fully immersing the pallet with every single bite as if the background of every dish was present. The service is nothing but amazing. The staff that has been there for a while are beyond talented in hospitality and clearly demonstrate their skills through the very first moment you enter. KIN can easily work for meetings, family dinners, and friendly celebrations. Nothing to write home about but I love pizza though it wasn't the best, I would go back and order it again. Same with my salad. This review is about the service. The service did not exist. I think it was that weird transition where our server was almost off and we were her last table because the moment we sat down she came up, asked if we were ready to order and we were not -she looked annoyed. She never came by to refill our water, never asked if she could get us anything or another round of drinks. My boyfriend had to go up and order at the bar even though we were at a table. I had a club soda and a coffee and those sat empty the ENTIRE time. It was a rainy monday and there were hardly any other customers there. It's annoying but obviously we survived. This restaurant has a lot of potential but sadly the service didn't hold up to the expectation. The owner should prioritize better training before trying to open more restaurants. read more

We ordered the ribeye dinner and the salmon dinner. They served bread before the meal which was stale. Butternut squash soup was good. The mashed potatoes were not tasty at all. The steak was cooked perfectly and the salmon was not dry. Vegetables were not soggy. We asked for bread when the soup came and was shocked when we received our bill and we're charged $1 for it. $1 isn't a lot, but we have never paid for bread at a restaurant Our service was very slow. read more

My wife and I were visiting beautiful and quant Windsor for a couple of days. We wanted to eat in town and not head north to Healdsburg or south to Santa Rosa. We checked out some reviews and decided on KIN's. We arrived a little after five and there was already a good amount of people seated. The table arrangement is curious and random feeling. The few nice tables anchored to the windows or walls were all for larger parties and our hostess would not seat us in them. She did offer us a really poor table in the back corner next to a large coiled up garden hose. I was surprised she would have even consider such a horrid spot. I politely declined and said we would take the small table in the middle of the room. Our waiter was quick, attentive, and polite. We really enjoyed his service and can't really compliment him enough. I wished that I would have written down his name so you could ask for him if you visit...but I'm bad with remembering names and a dork for not writing it down. :) We ordered the Brussel Sprouts for the appetizer along with an Old Fashion with Basil Hayden and a local Cab for my wife. The Old Fashion was excellent and made perfectly. My wife enjoyed the wine. The appetizer was a different story. The sprouts were well roasted but a tad dry. Adding the shredded cheese and bacon bits didn't help with the lack of moisture. It really could have used a sauce to bring in a little more flavor and prevent it from being so dry. The Brussel Sprouts tasted fine but if we return to KIN's, we'll get the deep fried pickles next time. My wife had the French Dip and I the Bacon Shroom Burger. Her French Dip was good but the smoked horseradish spread was lacking any heat. When she asked for raw horseradish, she just received another side of the same thing on the French Dip. Trying to find real horseradish is oddly a difficult thing. :) The Au Jus was smoked which I think distracted from its flavor. It was alright but she would have preferred a more traditional dip. My burger was good and flavorful. The burger was average in my opinion. That's not a bad thing. The Tater Sweet Tots were, however, amazing and the highlight of the night. Out of everything we had, these were the best. I highly recommend them. KIN's is an interesting place to dine and I mean that in a particular way. The seating arrangement needs to be better thought out. I saw pictures here in Yelp of table cloths and when we ate, there wasn't a single table covered. I think that would have helped with the dynamics of the place. The food was average with one bright spot. I'm not sure if I will return to KIN's but if you are in town and you're looking for some good food, then give KIN's a try. read more
