My husband and I wanted to visit Santa Rosa for a cheese shop and we looked for a wine tasting experience nearby. We found D'Argenzio through Yelp. We had a nice relaxing tasting on their patio. The hostess was very sweet and I wish I remembered her name. She added a lot to the experience. We enjoyed a red tasting and an Italian variety tasting. We liked both tastings and couldn't really pick a favorite. Each had their special qualities. The option for food made for a nice relaxing atmosphere.

After a morning wine tasting experience at Castello di Amorosa, our group of 10 were warmed up and ready to keep the festivities going. Fortunately, my wife had found D'Argenzio Winery (based on their stellar Yelp reviews) and booked a wine tasting reservation for our party (please note that she booked the reservation a week in advance). Upon entering the winery, our group was told to wait in the backyard area while the young woman (unfortunately I do not recall her name), moved what would turn out to be some very uncomfortable chairs from the outside to accommodate us sitting inside. We stood in the hot backyard for roughly eight minutes before being summed inside. Considering that this reservation was booked well in advance, the lack of preparation was the first red flag. As we settled in at the table, the young woman (employee #1) appeared to be disinterested in serving our group (maybe not in the mood to work that day?), and did not engage our table to try and get to know us (a little nicety that one generally experiences when wine tasting). Since we were transitioning from the morning to the afternoon, everyone in our party was hungry and wanted to place food orders before proceeding to wine tasting. My wife and I placed an order the Italian Sausage pizza, while other folks in our party ordered items ranging from the pizzas to the meatballs. After all orders were placed, each couple in our party began providing employee #1 with their preferred wine tasting flights. Since my wife and I like to make the most of our tastings, we ordered two separate flights (Sonoma Co. Wine & the Italian Wine). While we awaited the delivery of our food orders, employee #1 began pouring everyone a complimentary glass of the 2022 Vermentino. Now I am in no way trying to be disrespectful to the owners, I totally understand the hard work that goes into making wine. However, the 2022 Vermentino was not a favorite amongst our group, and left us questioning if this was an indication that we should abort our mission to explore the options on the tasting menu. Shortly after the complimentary tasting, our food arrived. Our friends that ordered salad and meatballs were pleased with their orders; however, the folks that ordered pizza (including my wife and I), were disappointed. Our Italian Sausage pizza was dry and flavorless (very sparse application of pizza sauce), so flavorless that we had to add red peppers to add some form of taste. A member of our group asked a second employee who stepped in to assist our table, if they could have ranch for the pizza. The employee briefly left to look for ranch and returned to tell us that she could not find ranch, no problem. However, she then followed this up by telling the member of our group that he could go to Round Table if he wants ranch...wow...I wish that I could say that I was making this up! As the experience concluded, employee #2 asked our table if anyone was interested in purchasing a bottle. Since we are all respectful professionals, we kindly declined her request. However, this was a perfect indication that the lack of attentiveness (customer service) provided to our group, led her to believe that our table was impressed by the wine offerings. As we closed five tabs, one of the couples realized that they had two separate identical receipts...signaling that the winery double charged them. On average, each couple (five couples) spent close to $100 (each tasting is $30+), so we definitely did not see any return on investment. Our group left this experience definitely wanting more (we ended up making our own wine tasting experience at our Airbnb later that evening) and my wife was embarrassed that she booked this reservation for our group. Based on the near perfect Yelp reviews, I can only assume that maybe our group caught the restaurant on a rare "off day." To end on a positive note, I found the award winning 2018 Pinot Noir to be delicious.

Cheers to a refreshing 2019 Chardonnay at D'Argenzio Winery in Santa Rosa.

A family-owned winery that serves as both a wine tasting room and full scale restaurant? I'm saying Mamma Mia to the hybrid that is D'Argenzio Winery! Located in a rather industrial area of Santa Rosa, California, just slightly north of the downtown area, D'Argenzio Winery has been making wines for over twenty-seven years thanks to founder Alfonso D'Argenzio who began as a cabinetmaker, and turned his winemaking hobby into his legacy. In a tribute to their Italian heritage, they turned the grapes surrounding their cabinet shop into the winery of their dreams, as after all these years the cabinetmaking may have discontinued as all of the winemaking is now done right here on this site, from the pressing of the grapes to the affixing their wine labels. What brought a friend and I here for lunch on a recent weekend afternoon, was ironically not wine tasting at least originally, it was actually the fact that D'Argenzio Winery was participating in Santa Rosa Restaurant Week, in which local restaurants offer a multi-course pre-fix menu set at an affordable price, so diners can get a real sense of what their menu has to offer. What made D'Argenzio Winery food offerings unique was that their kitchen is actually located in their sister restaurant Cibo Rustico Pizzeria, which is located across the parking lot where D'Argenzio Winery is located, and for their lunchtime pre-fix menu, D'Argenzio Winery was offering a two-course menu with four options from their regular appetizer menu, and four options from their pizza menu, priced at a very affordable 15 dollars a person, with one option of tiramisu from their dessert menu for an additional 5 dollars. We did have to make reservations to make sure that they could in fact take us on the day we wanted to go, and Breanna, whose family owns D'Argenzio Winery served as both our main server and tasting room associate. We actually had just come from a wine tasting and had originally just planned to try the food offered at D'Argenzio Winery, but when we saw that their wine tasting flights were both reasonably priced and shareable, then we were all in for their Casa Wine Tasting, which offered four pours of their signature wine. We began with their 2019 Chardonnay soured from Sonoma and it was a nice crisp start to our tasting. We then tried their 2016 Falanghina which is from their sister label Anthesis Wines, and had a bold orange hue to match its bold taste on the palette. For our third and four pours were their red wines, and paired perfectly with our menu items that we ordered, as their 2019 Sangiovese, which was sourced from the DeNatale Vineyard in the Russian River Valley was a lovely red wine that pairs well with any meat, and their 2018 Pinot Noir from their Anthesis label was sourced from open top fermentation barrels from the Karah Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap, and had very little tannins, which made for a nice finish. For our meal, for my first course, I opted to order their Mama Rosa's Meatballs, which were handmade meatballs made with beef and pork, and were simmered and baked in a delectable marinara sauce and topped with parmesan and basil. My friend ordered their Wood-Roasted Seasonal Vegetables, which were a combination of carrots, cauliflower, asparagus, broccoli, and green onions, topped with parmesan, olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper. For my entree, I ordered their Luciano Pizza which was topped with parmesan cheese sauce, prosciutto, Calabrian chilis, onions, garlic, basil, cracked pepper and parmesan; and my friend ordered their Italian Sausage Mushroom Pizza that was topped with marinara, Italian fennel sausage, mushrooms, oregano and parmesan. Both the meatballs and vegetables were cooked to perfection, and the pizzas were technically supposed to be eight inches in size but they actually gave us their twelve in pizzas, which only added to the abundance of food we feasted on this afternoon. It was honestly one of the best pizzas that I have ever had, and we needed sodas, an Italian soda for my friend and a root beer for myself to get our equilibrium back because of all of the great food and wine we enjoyed on this visit. Our total bill was $57.77, which was very affordable thanks to the restaurant week-priced pre-fix meal plan, but their tasting is priced so well every day of the week, so why wouldn't a return visit be in order for me? At D'Argenzio Winery, they are a hidden gem that needs to be celebrated for what it is, a family owned winery with great service, producing some of the best Italian cuisine and handcrafted wine in all of Santa Rosa!

    Caprese, Mama Rosa's Meatballs

Went for Sonoma County Restaurant Week Lunch Food - 5/5. Caprese was fresh and I enjoyed how the tomato had the same level of firmness as the mozzarella. The amount of dressing was fantastic as the balsamic glaze gave it a strong sweet flavor and the vinegar doused everything in a light tartness. The meatballs were tender, and the tomato sauce had a perfect blend of sour and umami. There was a little burnt mark on them, but it did not affect the flavor. Margherita pizza had great bite on the dough, same delicious marinara sauce as the meatballs and plenty of rich cheese. Luciano's parmesan cheese sauce was very rich which paired perfectly with the spice of the Calabrian chilis. Bits of prosciutto gave it that meaty salty kick and the vegetables added texture. Tiramisu was excellent: fluffy, not too sweet, and creamy. Service - 4/5. Attentive and the food came out relatively fast considering that it came from the kitchen across the lot. Value - 5/5. The Sonoma County Restaurant Week deals are absolutely fantastic with the lunch course only being $15 and $5 extra for the sweet deal dessert. Food here was delicious and more than worth the price paid. Their wine tasting is of great value too with an option having four wine tastings for only $15. Fantastic experience. Parking - Mall Lot (Free)

FOOD: did not really enjoy the pizzas :/ the wine variety is great though! SERVICE: kirk was such a great server. we got to eat and wine taste outside in their cute patio. we were able to get a reservation the night before. verdict: would probably go to another place in the future as it didn't feel as outdoorsy as other wine tasting places. very affordable though!

    Loved the wine.

Lovely winery and back patio close to downtown. Don't be deceived by location. Ambience is perfect. Family owned with the vintner having learned his trade both from his grandfather growing-up in northern Italy and from the UC Davis wine program Breena provides friendly, attentive and knowledgeable service. And the relationship with the next door Italian restaurant provides great and a plethora of food choices. We loved it so much we joined to free wine club. Our son lives at and attends SRJC nearby so we will visit every time we come to see him.

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here in August for about 38 people . The space outside was perfect for our group & there also is a bocce court. The food and service were excellent. The cost seemed very reasonable as well. We enjoyed our time at the venue and working with Breanna was so easy! If you are looking to have an event or even a wedding in the Santa Rosa area you should check them out!

I had such a good meal here! The servers were very attentive even though they had a big event happening in back. This review is a little delayed. I thought I did this like a year ago. Still I am planning on going back this weekend and i have heard everything is just as it was: great! Clean bathroom. Not great parking.

WOW! That was quite the experience! Rachel and her amazing customer service, combined with the fabulous wines and tasty food, made for a fabulous Sunday afternoon! Cherry on the top was being made to feel like we were old friends by the casual, caring nature of the owner, Ray. I'm almost embarrassed to say a Groupon deal is what brought us here but am glad it did as I may have missed this little gem! Situated off the freeway frontage road was this adorable, family-owned, rustic winery and tasting room. I was immediately in love with the casual and festive atmosphere. Rat Pack music quietly filled the room. Mismatched tables and chairs, harvest decorations, little white lights hanging to create ambiance - it all worked together beautifully. They were preparing for a private event and I briefly contemplated crashing the party just to be a part of the fun. (Kidding. I think.) Back patio had chairs and bocce ball court and I could just envision a fun time being had back there! Wine tasting: Each new wine brought excellent explanation. Rachel was not pretentious in her definitions and gave enough to create an anticipation for the first sips. I fell in love with several but the standouts were the 2018 Marcucci Pinot Noir, 2018 Tocai Friulano (light white) and the finale, a Sangiovese. Food: We ordered a piccolo antipasti board and a margherita pizza and were very happy with both! The antipasti was simple and comforting and hubby loved the char on the crust from the wood-fired oven. His favorite was the prosciutto-wrapped asparagus and we contemplated ordering a full plate of them. :) Before our time was over, we had already set in motion plans to bring a group of friends. I look forward to returning and am definitely looking into the wine club...

Always the most outstanding service! The servers are beyond attentive, kind, and personable. I just came for wine tasting Sunday and really enjoyed their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. They also have a beautiful outdoors and I enjoy having my sorority dances here. Cheers to their amazing winery!

My favorites were the brie, carrot, and rhubarb spreads. Not really sure if I concluded on which spread paired the best with which wine, but they were nice snacks to munch on. If you're seated outdoors, you get a nice view of the vineyard as well as some mountains. There also looked to be some pedal powered trolley, which we saw a group doing but didn't do it ourselves.

In short I can review their wines and their online events…read more If there's any justice, soon I'll be able to review their new Sonoma space, too. In long These guys are low-key in their packaging and low-key in their approach to self-promotion, but their craft is exceptionally good, especially at the price points they occupy. I've been a club member for most of the last 10+ years and the worst problem is I keep opening stuff even when I should save a bottle or two to try with more age on it. They source mostly (if not entirely) local fruit to produce a nice variety of reds, a couple whites, and the occasional pink. I've enjoyed everything I've tried, some tremendously. They pride themselves on their pinots, which have some heft to them, with tons of flavor, all perfectly in balance. And while they don't make cabs as far as I know, they make wonderfully hearty zins and syrahs. I've purchased aged examples of their syrahs and opened them right away...which is also the schedule I follow for their new-release syrahs I could be aging. They often release a white (with a companion white blend) under the name Winter Sun, which is usually a very small batch. It's one of the best whites I've had. They have made a rosé (I think from syrah grapes?) that's definitely the best rosé I've had. They hosted online tastings with blending sessions during the lockdown. They made it fun to see how combining single-grape samples into a blend could make something average change instantly into a delicious and interesting wine, just by finding the right proportions to meld together. I've been a fan practically since the beginning and expect to keep enjoying their wines for as long as they care to make them.
