visited lately with a group of about 10 ladies. it was a lovely experience. thanks to Devon our server and educator. he was charming. there were several of their wines. we liked a lot- the Chardonnay and the red blend. we were treated to a few bonus wines as well. we brought our own snacks. had a beautiful view of The vineyards and had a fabulous experience
This was a special event that had the author speak about their newest book. It sounds so interesting I bought a copy. We also tasted wine. I loved the Zin. Everyone was helpful and friendly. The picnic area was beautiful and comfortable.
Been wine club members here for a while now. They not only have some amazing wines at a great price point they also have an amazing staff. Swing by and let Devin, Maureen and Tyler take care of you while enjoying their beautiful grounds. They have been doing a variety of event in the evenings which are worth checking out. There's something for everyone. From book clubs to music to comedy. Definitely a place to go and enjoy a glass of wine with friends.
The experience for the tasting is always amazing. Attention to detail, great stories and always attentive customer service. The outside area is beautiful and comfortable for a great tasting experience. Kaitlin made it so much fun. Wine is always spot on .. amazing taste. Always appreciate the quality Hook and Ladder focuses on. Nothing is bad... Love it. Highly recommend...doesn't matter if you are just starting your wine experience or a " wine snob"... Lol It's a great place to relax, unwind and taste amazing wine. Their wine club is a great way to stay hooked on as well
Love our hidden gem Great service Great place to come and chill with great wines Come out and play a little bocce and e joy the rays of the sun with a glass of Chardonnay
I can't thank the staff at Hook and Ladder Winery enough for making my friend's bachelorette party so memorable! Everyone was very kind and accommodating - so much so that they put us in their barrel room because of the unexpected rain. While we wish it could have been outside, the barrel room was very cozy and actually turned out pretty great. The sun even came out later, and we were able to get a few pics with the vineyards in the background :) Hook and Ladder was just about the only winery I could find that allowed us to bring our own food and decorations. This was important to us to make my friend's "tying the knot" theme happen. I'm so glad we did it here. Thank you Hook and Ladder for helping to make this day so special for our friend!
This was actually our second time visiting this location! What originally brought us here is we found there tillerman wine at our local Safeway and then we couldn't find anymore and found out they had a winery that wasn't too far away! My husband is a firefighter and he is actually the tillerman on the truck at his station so it works out great as gifts for all the guys! Not only is the wine delicious but come on firefighters get discounts that's a great bonus!! The land is beautiful and they have plenty of seats everywhere. One of the ladies told us that they even have events like this Friday they are having a movie night!! They don't serve food but you can bring your own! Next time we come I'm gonna make a little picnic basket!
This winery was started by a firefighter. If you get the pleasure of having Taylor help and educate you and this amazing winery you will be in great hands! She was amazing for our tasting the wines were all excellent. Yes we had a few we really enjoyed. You need to try for your self! The grounds were so cool to relax and enjoy the great wines. They also have snacks you could purchase. Corn hole and bocce ball are there to play. Make the effort to visit this great winery. You probably will be taking a bottle or 2 home. Thanks Taylor!!!
I've been here countless times over the years and every time has been a great experience. Things changed a bit post pandemic, but the wines here are delicious. The wines here are fairly priced for the area and they have something for everybody. We spent an afternoon here with Randy and it was hands down the most fun I've EVER had in a day at ANY winery in Sonoma/Napa. We all had an absolute blast and he was the consummate host. We walked out with a s*** ton of wine to take home. Devin is an AWESOME manager. He does a great job making customers feel welcome. If you've never been to Hook and Ladder, it's a must top for the area. Unpretentious, chill, super fun.
This was one of the most fun, laid-back wine tastings I've experienced in Sonoma County. Delicious wines, a lovely patio, and friendly and knowledgeable staff made this a wonderful experience. It was easy to make a reservation for my party of 3 online. When we arrived, we were seated on the charming patio where tables were spaced nicely apart. Our pourer was a damn delight -- I couldn't decide between the red or white flight, so she poured me some of both! She answered all of our questions about wine and even gave us some bonus pours. It was quite a generous wine tasting! Hook and Ladder lets you bring in your own food, so it was fun to pack a picnic to accompany the wine tasting. The zinfandel was my favorite, but I was pleasantly surprised at their white wines. Their chardonnay and sauvignon blanc were fantastic. My only criticism is that the 1.5 hour reservation window flew by so fast! I could have easily enjoyed the patio for another hour (or several!). I'll definitely be back. :)
On a whim, we decided to go wine tasting today. While Hook & Ladder is 5 minutes away from us, we have never been. Huge mistake on our part. While under COVID rules, we started our tasting outside. They have beautiful grounds, with bistro and picnic tables set up. There is an old fire truck to check out. There is also a bocce ball court. We were told, it can be used if we bring our own balls. We started with a separate wine and red flight. My wife and daughter whites, me red. Eventually they kind of blended together. A bizarre storm, with thunder and lightning, rolled through. So plans quickly changed and staff moved a few tasters into an area where the wine tanks were. Tables and chairs were set up for us. The tasting continued. Their Pinot Noir's were amazing. So was one of their aged chardonnay's. Randy helped us throughout and was a great host. Wine seemingly kept flowing. The whole atmosphere was unpretentious and totally casual. I honestly can't wait to go back. Yes, we also joined ANOTHER wine club. We have one we want to stop. Sounds like a fun experience to be had once we rid ourselves of this pandemic.
Loved this place. We kicked off our day of wine tasting here. The vibe is super cool and the estate was fun, spacious and love all of the red. All of the wines we tasted from chardonnay to Pinot noir to Cabernet were delicious. Our host was friendly, funny and informative. I walked away with three bottles of bubbly although only tasted one of them. Band was setting up when we left. Wish we stayed longer. Could've spent all day here. Bocce court, corn hole available.
We were visiting (during a bike tour) from NC. It's a really cool winery, and the service was outstanding. We enjoyed a tasting, and I ended up joining the wine club b/c the wines were good, and reasonably priced. Especially loved the sparkling wine. Taylor was pouring for us, and she patiently answered our many questions and also told us many interesting things about the wines, from the time the grapes grow on the vines until they are bottled. Great experience!

This review is for Hook and Ladder's private events, and in particular giving them kudos for hosting our Welcome Party for our wedding weekend in June. We have been wine club members for awhile, and have visited H&L countless times over the years, so we knew that hosting our rehearsal event here was the perfect choice! Devin, who helped us book, plan and host the event, went above and beyond for us in every way. He could not have made this event more stress-free for us, and he's also just an amazing guy who provided an awesome energy during our event (our guests loved talking to him and learning about the winery). Our ~70ish guests fit perfectly on the lawn and the team made the space feel intimate and beautifully arranged for our group. They let us not only arrive early to set up, but they graciously let us stay a little later when we lost track of time from having too much fun. We love Hook and Ladder even more now than we already did, and highly recommend hosting your next event in your beautiful space!!! read more

Another beautiful day winetasting at Hook And Ladder with my girlfriend's! It was a cool sunny day we took advantage of sitting in their Adirondack chairs facing the sun and the vineyards. Kaitlyn always takes special care of her clients and we enjoyed chatting with her. All four of us found the Pinot and Zin our favorites of the pours. read more

This adorable winery has a firefighter theme yet caters to all that love good wines! They got a recently remodeled interior but it's the beautifully landscaped exterior that grabs my attention; it's great for an afternoon wine taste and snack!. They have a little vending machine for snacks, but welcome bringing your own picnic (we once had pizza delivered). I enjoyed this place so much I became a member! They have a great staff that serve some of my favorite wine the Russian River Valley has to offer. read more

Thank you Maureen, Caitlin, and Devon for another great time of fun and wine tasting. This group is truly the best. Very casual ambiance yet with amazing wines. Our favorites, right now, is the Rose' and Rose' Sparkling. Absolutely delicious. Thanks so much for taking such good care of us. We will see you again next summer. read more
Hook and Ladder will definitely get you "hooked" on their delicious white wines! I'm a red wine drinker at heart, but the Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer that I had here just simply blew me away. This adorable winery is located along the Olivet road wine trail in a quaint little area of Santa Rosa. This was the first stop during our Russian River Valley wine tour and it definitely set the bar for all of the other wineries that we visited in the area. The exterior has a rustic barn-like feel with gorgeous views of their vineyards and the surrounding Russian River Valley. We started our tasting indoors in their tasting room. We loved the vibe here! It was very relaxed and completely unpretentious. The sommeliers were personable and informative. The crowd was really fun too! There was so much infectious energy in the room that we couldn't believe that this was our first stop of the day! We began our tasting with their 2014 Chardonnay and worked our way down to their luscious Cab Sauv. I enjoyed practically every wine that I tried, but I was thoroughly impressed with their white wines! The Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer tasted simply amazing! Red wines are my usual go-to's, but the white wines were killer here! Very light and refreshing and can be paired with practically anything! We also really adored their Zinfandel. They have a cute covered patio next to their indoor tasting room where we ended up spending the rest of our time. I loved the cute little altar! This place would make a beautiful setting for a wedding. The bocce ball court was really fun as well. All in all, we had a wonderful time at Hook and Ladder and we can't wait to come back again in the future. read more

Great place to go wine tasting. Big plus for us is that it's dog friendly. The grounds are pretty. It was nice to sit outside under the trees and walk up for our next pour. Our pup also loved the treats she got. Everyone is so friendly. Everything we tasted was nice. We bought a couple of bottles to take home, sauv blanc and Pinot noir. Will definitely return when back in the area. read more

Hook and Ladder is owned by a former firefighter. He was the Tillerman that controlled the rear end of the firetruck ladder. They served us what seemed an endless selection of wines, from multiple whites, a Rose and then at least six reds. The tasting room is decorated with firefighter shirts donated by firemen from around the world. read more

I was excited to try out Hook and Ladders as it sounded like a fun place with a fire theme! It didn't let us down in that regard... very cute and decorated with Tshirts & badges from Fire Departments all over the world. It was fun to go around and look at them all. I wasn't quite as impressed with the wines unfortunately - they were good but not on par with some of the others we tried that weekend. It didn't help our tasting experience that a large portion of the people in the winery were part of what looked like a bachelor/ette party and were so loud (as in yelling from one end of tasting room to the other constantly) and obviously inebriated that it made us want to finish our tasting and leave quickly. It also didn't help that the bathroom was unusable after a one of them got sick in it. I know this isn't necessarily the winery's fault but they didn't seem too bothered by any of it and made no attempt to quiet or remove them - which surprised me cuz most of the customers also seemed as annoyed as we were. On a good note, the pouring staff was very well educated on the wines/winery which was nice. If you want to visit I suggest you go during the week in case this is a normal weekend occurrence here. read more
