For our little birthday celebration vacation, we stayed at the Calderwood Inn in Healdsburg. With that we were entitled to stop by any winery under the Wilson wineries heading which includes about 12 different wineries. This is the only one we took advantage of for this pleasure and boy are we glad we did. The other 3 wineries we went to where we prepaid for tasting, tried so hard to sell us wine or club membership, Wilson Winery did no such thing. I wish I could remember the gentleman's name who was serving wine. He was a treat. Knowledgeable about the wines, but not rote. Engaged in conversation about wine (my wife and I are pretty knowledgeable ourselves about wines as we have not only been going to wineries for almost 40 years, but we've also volunteered at a couple) He was lively, on point, and, dare I say, fun! We both love Zinfandel wine. It is my favorite. Since Wilson produces over 30 different, you'll definitely find one you like. We sure did; we ended up buying multiple bottles. We wanted glasses too, but they were out (Wilson Winery, if you're reading this and you got a new shipment of glasses in, hit me back and I'll order some). Quaint grounds that overlook a sea of vineyards. It was a wonderful experience. read more

We just a t tried to have a tasting at Wilson. We were greeted warmly, seated and then... ignored! At least three other tables were seated, served waters, and got their first pour and we waited. And waited. Finally we agreed that if they didn't acknowledge us after they finished at the most recent table we would leave. The server, who seated us, finished up, looked me in the eye and walked into the building. I was frankly, offended! So we left! Wilson has good wines but if this is how they treat either clients I don't need to ever go back! Fortunately, we stopped at another winery on our way out of the valley and had a great experience to counter balance the bad taste Wilson left us with. read more

Wilson winery is one of my favorite wineries of the Wilson artisan wineries group. The zinfandels here are outstanding as is the view out into the vineyard from the back deck. I always enjoy meeting the dogs, both belonging to the winery and belonging to guests. This is a very dog friendly winery! read more

Paul my pourer was rude, pompous and condescending. I have been a wine club member for years. If the wines weren't so good, I would have dropped the club instantly. As it is now. Really enjoyed our morning tasting at Wilson! It is a beautiful property with expansive vineyard views, a tree covered outdoor deck, lots of zins, and even a sculpture from burning man that you an climb on! Paul our tasting room associate was a wonderful host full of knowledge. He also had the sweetest dog that wondered the tasting deck in search of pets. The tasting menu consisted of 4 wines, but we were lucky enough to get some off menu pours to try out some more of their zins. They had over 30 zins which was the most I've ever seen at a winery before. I enjoyed the wines here and ended up going home with two bottles, one zin and one summer white. Such a beautiful tasting room. I got excited when I pulled up to the parking lot because I realized I had already visited Wilson Winery a few years back. (My first time was pre covid during the warm summer months.) Fast forward to 2023, I stopped by with one of my fellow Yelp girlfriends for some girl chat and wine during Winter. Wilson is undeniably a beautiful tasting room with some of the best valley vineyard views I've seen. We opted to sit outdoors since the weather wasn't too cold. Heaters and blankets were offered which came in handy as the weather cooled down. The outdoor deck seating area showcases the beautiful property grounds, it was the perfect ambiance and setting while we caught up and chatted. I am not one to really opt for outdoor seating anywhere because I'm usually cold. I didn't have that problem at this tasting room thanks to the blankets, heaters, and of course loads of WINE. lol. My girlfriend is a member and after our first few wines, I realized why she is a member. Our host treated us to some delicious wine, the Petite Sirah and the Three Dog Zinfindel were my favorites. I enjoyed learning about the winemakers and almost walked out a member myself. Wilson Winery is a beautiful tasting room and a must-try if you're ever in the area. 10/10. read more

I've always liked it here! This visit only confirmed that! This was the first place we went on our second day of tastings. We had been to their sister property (Mazzocco) the day before and had a rather poor experience there with the wine and their staff. That all came up in conversation as we were talking to the gentleman pouring in the tasting room here. We decided to just buy two glasses of wine and sit out and enjoyed the view for a bit. I don't remember the man's name, but he was excellent with Customers and seemed to really care about what he did! I appreciate that a lot in any place I go. We asked about a few wines for a glass (I love that they do by the glass now!), and he offered his suggestion and a splash to see if it fit the bill! We both loved his suggestions and ordered a glass. We went to pay and he says to us... it's ok. It's on us. Just outside and enjoy. We were a little shocked and didn't quite know what to say. I still offered to pay but he assured us it was ok. Maybe he was trying to make up for their sister property or maybe he was just being nice. Either way... I'm a loyal customer now and I'll sing their praises to everyone I know that loves wine! We really enjoyed the wines here and they honestly made our trip! Thank you Wilson's!!!!! My mother and I went to Wilson Winery from recommendations from our timeshare and we loved it. The patio has an amazing view of the vineyards and the winery is very relaxing and inviting. We had Miranda as our guide through the tasting and she was very knowledgeable about everything. She gave us the right amount of time to enjoy our wine and answered all of our questions! Wilson is a fun place to visit with great views of the valley and ample space to spread out and enjoy a nice tasting with a cheese and charcuterie board. It's close proximity to the city of Healdsburg makes it an easy trek for visitors as well along with visiting other prominent wineries in the area. The winery itself is nice and quaint, but nothing over the top. Staff has always been very respectful and knowledgeable the multiple times I've visited over the years. Now, why three stars you may ask? While I do enjoy some of their lighter body wines, most of their reds run too hot for me in terms of high alcohol. I know some may not notice, but for me it's apparent. Not a hit on them as many consumer enjoy this, but I tend to prefer a bit of balance in my reds. This is not to say I will not return, but that is my only gripe. I will say their wines are quite affordable, so three cheers to them on that note as many others in the area have gotten out of control over the last few years. I will say take a gander at their sister wineries as some are quite good! read more

Part of the Wilson Artisan Winery family, we enjoyed a great view from the deck as we toured the personalized tasting menu of Scott. He connected with us immediately and customized our experience to meet our group's preferences. An added treat was that during August Wilson Winery served amazing tri tip sandwiches that are marinaded with one of the wines. Our tri tip was marinated in Coyote Sonoma Zin, Tombstone! Wilson Winery is on our return to list because even though we did not have reservations, we were treated as honored guests, unlike the previous 3 places along the route. We were looking forward to this winery but it was a major disappointment. We are members of a sister wine club and have found the staff at other Wilson Artisan wineries to be very informative and pleasant. However we were not treated well here. Zero tasting notes or comments until the 3rd tasting was poured. The first two were simply full the glass and walk away. I think this experience reflects poorly on the Wilson family brand. This winery is charming and a bit rustic, Wilson's is a Zin house and they only have Zin! Normally I would say with absolute conviction that I am not a fan of Zinfandel's that being said, I am here, and I will taste, that is what I do! Lol The tasting room was cozy with all these darling trinkets for sale, that were all about wine and doggies! We did a full tasting and to my shock and awe! I loved them and I have never said that about a Zinfandel. My friends that love Zinfandel always say a good Zin has a peppery flavor, I have never been a fan of of that. Coming here changed all that! I bought a beautiful bottle, then we all sat outside on this huge wooden deck overlooking the vineyards. We had an amazing experience at this winery. We started with a wine tasting, that grew into a membership and peaked at a case of wine (12 bottles) coming home with us! Wilson, Wilson, Wilson! The mothership of all of the Wilson family wineries, and rightfully so. Amazing wines, stunning views, and standup service. What more could you really ask for? Some friends and I stopped by Wilson on Independence Day for a tasting and we had an absolute BLAST! First of all, how many other wineries in the Dry Creek Valley do you know of that are open on the 4th of July? Not too many. So for that alone, I'm so grateful. Because, who wouldn't want to spend a day celebrating American independence by sipping on delicious wine?! Let's first start off by mentioning how gorgeous Wilson's Estate is. Just immaculate! It's also one of the largest Wilson family winery estates. When you arrive, you'll be greeted by a large wolf-like sculpture. The tasting room is housed in a large tin barn that's over 100 years old. It's obviously been renovated since then, but is still considered one of the oldest buildings in all of Dry Creek Valley. The interior of the tasting room is also quite admirable as it's filled with French and American Oak and stainless steel barrels. It's spacious with a very inviting horseshoe style tasting bar. There's also a small room filled with many of their award winning wines as well as their actual awards. But perhaps what's most attractive about Wilson's estate is the heartwarming view from their patio. Talk about vines! Views for DAYS! You'll feel like you're on top of the world as you admire the sweeping vineyard views of Dry Creek Valley from atop of their deck. I could literally just sit there all day and stare into space. It's just that beautiful. Their patio is shaded and comfortable. The red and black sofas are stylish and relaxing all in one. Dogs and babies are allowed here at the winery, so don't be afraid to make it a family affair. For all of you red wine lovers out there, Wilson's red wines will definitely impress. It's all about the Zinfandel at Wilson, and they have a delicious Zin for just about every kind of palate. Fell in love with their delightfully juicy 2016 Terraces Zinfandel. It was the perfect balance of mineral, floral, and fruity. Also impressive was their 2015 Petite Sirah which was bold, jammy, and filled with delicious dark berries. Their Summertime White Blend was so refreshing to sip on in the heat. I brought a homemade meat and cheese board, and their wines paired perfectly with this. I've gotta say, Wilson has been one of my favorite Wilson family wineries to visit. It even had me contemplating a switch a from Matrix Winery to here (sssshhhh!!). It's so wonderful to get benefits to Wilson Winery. The wine club perks are truly amazing. I'm excited to make a return visit to Wilson! read more

Glad my husband and I found Wilson's winery. We came to it once before and had fun joking with the wine sommeliers. The winery was sold out of the award winning Zins we wanted to try so we joked about that. My husband and I still left with some good bottles of wines! This last time, we had Paul! He was ready and very knowledgeable as our sommelier. He was also quick at receiving and giving out the jokes! We expressed an interest in the Zins and Paul let us taste some that were not on the tasting menu. My husband says Wilson's winery has the best Zins he has ever had! There were six of us here, and we all had a good experience. Everyone liked the wines and the service was extra good. We were seated on the patio (COVID protocols) and it was kind of chilly (early January), so they moved us to a slightly smaller table in the sun, which was great and totally doable. They were very friendly and more than willing to accomodate our requests. The young man pouring our wine was helpful and informative. Wilson is very Zin -heavy, which I like becasue I find Zinfandel a good wine for both red and white drinkers. read more

You can see how this property has an amazing view during spring and summer. During winter I think you noticed the property itself more. Visited during the barrel tasing weekend. Parking and approah to the tasting room isn't that appealing, you kinda walk thru a side parking lot with porta potties for the guest up to the deck with temporary tents covering have of the back patio. The barrel zins we tasted were great, the bottles zins not to much. I mean they were okay but tasted average. The staff was very nice and friendly. We tasted a few of the reserves but honestly some of the cheaper ones tasted so much better. I know if you join this wine club you get a lot of benefits at their sister wineries but I thought I expected a bit more from the flagship winery. read more

I suppose it is time that I update my review of Wilson Winery. It is still a lovely place to visit and I am still annoyed that I must go inside to get my next glass of wine, instead of being served outside. Alas, it truly is a beautiful place to spend a Saturday afternoon. Or, a Thursday afternoon if you're fancy! T'was the 4th of July and my friends planned an afternoon of wine, charcuterie and laughs. We spent 3 hours here enjoying our platter of cheese and meats, fruits and wines. We watched people come and go, giving love to the dogs that passed us by. The homes in the hills beyond the vines sparked a conversation of who lived there and how we could get invited to their retreat! Or event better to eventually be the owner of our own manor-in-the-hills-above-the-vines one day. You never know! Can I truly comment on the service? I can't really say that I was being served. I was being poured a glass of wine, that I had to walk to get. I don't know. But the staff were friendly. They aren't very generous with the pouring though. It's literally 2 sips. I was thirsty every 5 minutes! Pouring outside would move them to a 5 in my book. read more

Great wines and a lovely stop on a wine tasting day. As a member of one of their sister wineries, Mazzocco - I've wanted to stop here for some time - finally made it. What a lovely spot - bring a picnic for sure. We had an excellent tasting experience with help from Lynn and Ryan. We tasted many of their offerings and particularly liked the Molly's Zinfandel and Ellie's Zin. It was a hot day though so we purchased a bottle of their Dry Creek Vally 2015 Sau Blanc to have with our lunch - it was perfect. They have a super cool huge outdoor sculpture that was once at Burning Man. They also donate a portion of their sales from one of their wines to a local animal shelter - good for them! On my drive up Dry Creek Rd, this little gem stuck out to me. I was able to sit down and enjoy a glass, with a phenomenal view, without any reservation of a beautiful Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Paul had a packed patio, but he maintained a great service, and kept myself and the others enthralled. I plan to return with my girls and enjoy a day of festivities here. We just had a family reunion here that happened to land on the day of their pickup party which is most likely the busiest day of the year at Wilson and they handled it brilliantly! Shane , Gneen and the complete Wilson staff were amazing and friendly providing excellent service with a smile on what had to be a hard day managing such a large crowd. You would never know it as these employees were all excellent knowledgeable hosts. Wilson is making some excellent Zins for sure but I must say our group of 11 were pleasantly surprised when tasting the Chards and Petite Syrah's and walked out with a fair share of all 3 varietals which were all at a excellent price point. The grounds are beautiful also, so between the excellent wine the beautiful ambience and great leaders such as Shane and Geneen I think I know why the employees are providing such great hospitality.
