My notes about Marine Layer was "highest wine tasting room rating on Yelp in Healdsberg." And that rating is 100% deserved. We walked in on a Saturday around noon, and we didn't have a reservation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They were able to seat us on a comfy couch, and also mentioned there was space at the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I think if you were a large group, you probably would want to set up a reservation ahead of time. Trevor, who helped us, was extremely knowledgeable about wines and wine-making. He was very flexible with letting my friend who doesn't like red wines do a tasting of different whites, including a chardonnay that wasn't on the tasting menu. Also one friend came in a little later and they were very good at letting her "catch up" with us. There was no sense of being hurried or pushed into a purchase. I did get a bottle of one of their seasonal white wines. I really liked the pinot noir the best!

We came to check out this tasting room after a friend's recommendation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is beautiful, and they offer two different types of tasting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We went for the Pinot flight (Sonoma coast Vineyard series) and really enjoyed the Bohemian and Whistler. Staff was great in explaining each pour and giving us space to just relax.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cute tasting room downtown on the square.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's big, super clean and modern decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]it can be very loud in there due to the acoustics.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They didn't rush us. Several wines to choose from and taste. The sav blanc and red blend were our favorites.

It was our first time exploring the downtown Healdsburg area and came across multiple tasting rooms. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We happen to find Marine Layer Wines tasting room that had some kids inside and a full seating area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Since we had our 11 yr old son, we thought it would be a good place to try. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated in a comfy sofa area behind the Christmas tree.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They were only offering wines by the glass. So we got the 2023 Aries Chardonnay and 2022 Lyra Pinot Noir. It was such a relaxing time to enjoy the delicious wine and relax after exploring the downtown area. Will definitely come back for some wine tasting

Peter took great care of us and provided an abundance of information on the wines he poured including lots of background on their growing regions. We had a greet visit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibes were immaculate![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We came here on a recommendation from Jordan Winery and it did not disappoint. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is spacious, airy, and full of natural light.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were knowledgeable about the wines and were clearly passionate about it. We didn't have any food, not even sure if they have any, but this is a great place for casual 1:1 drinks and also for small groups.

Nice tasting room located on the square in Healdsburg. Employees are very nice, outgoing and knowledgeable about the wine. The wine is good, with the Chardonnay as the standout for us. Tastings are $30 for 4 of their wines and $40 for 5 of their single vineyard wines. We opted to taste all wines and therefore did both tastings between the two of us. Our wine educator also poured us a splash of their cool climate Syrah and a splash of their Sparkling wine. My reason for not awarding 5 stars is their policy for not comping tastings with the purchase of wine. For those that have no problem with that, it might be a five star winery. Since I have visited literally 100's of wineries and would say only about 2% have implemented a policy like this it warrants a reduction of at least 1 star. It was our anniversary, we made a memory and that concludes my review.

Had an amazing tasting with Mikayla. She was so knowledgeable about the wines and had such a warm approach. We will be back to taste more delicious wines! The Brut Rosé and Syrah were the highlights!

We made a reservation and had an excellent tasting! We really loved their Chardonnays. All three we had were excellent. They're all great examples of Sonoma coastal style Chardonnay. Neither my wife, nor I are vegetarians, however, we had the Mezze platter provided by Little Saint. It was outstanding! (they usually need a 24 hour advance notice if you're going to order it.)

Marine Layer is a new tasting room on the Healdsburg Plaza. Wow! The setting is stunning! They transformed the previously dark space into one that's light, coastal-feeling, and inviting. I love all the textures! Went when they opened in the fall for an indoor tasting and food pairing and loved both! The Wine: the Marine Layer flight is five limited production cool climate wines (Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the rugged Sonoma Coast) - $35pp The Food: a mezze plate from nearby/soon-to-open Little Saint (in the former Shed space). The plate features seasonal ingredients from Little Saint farms in Healdsburg. Delicious! - $15pp We've since been back to enjoy wines by the glass (or bottle) at the bar. Our favorite, the Lyra Pinot, is on the by-the-glass menu. I think tasting flights finish around 5:00pm but the bar remains open until around 6:30pm, so this is a great spot for a pre-dinner drink in town. Highly recommend that you stop here for the delicious wines! And when you do, don't miss a visit to their beautiful bathrooms! The green tiles are dreamy!

Love the aesthetics, love the wine. I only wish they had a 12 bottle/year wine club option (because I would love to join)! Have been wanting to try this place for awhile now. I'm a huge fan of Sonoma Coast pinots, and Marine Layer definitely delivers! Made a reservation for 2 tastings (plus a Little Saint food plate) on Tock for President's Day weekend. The price is fairly steep for the area ($35 per tasting and no waiver for bottle purchase), but their wines are legit worth it if you're wanting to try a little of everything. Their Chardonnay is the embodiment of a "typical CA Chardonnay." Not my go-to for whites, but if you like buttery and oaky chards, it's a solid option. Their cold climate pinots (cultivated by their namesake marine layer) are absolutely scrumptious. Ended up purchasing a bottle of their 2019 Lyra and Walala Pinots. The Little Saint food platter was a fun, non-traditional spin on typical charcuterie spreads. It was entirely vegan and featured za'atar dusted chips, hummus, and pickled and fresh vegetables to dip. The flavors were "good," but I would am curious to try their pinots with a nice pulled pork or mushroom-infused goat cheese to see how it brings out the earth-notes in the wine. All in all, would definitely return for a glass of wine in their beautiful tasting space, but do not need to repeat the full tasting. Let me know if you decide to create a 12 bottle/year wine club option ;) Cheers!

Blown away by the level of attentiveness and knowledge of Trevor, who walked us through each wine in the tasting. We were planning on coming here based on the ambiance and basically everyone at singlethread recommended we come here as well. Couldn't have been more impressed. Really enjoyed the gaps crown Chardonnay.

If you had told me two years ago that I would confidently navigate a wine list or casually discuss soil types and native fermentation, I would have laughed. When I first walked into Lioco Tasting Room, I genuinely could not tell you whether I preferred white or red. Joining their wine club has since become one of the best investments I have made, not only in my wine knowledge, but in my social life. Lioco is the definition of thoughtful, terroir driven winemaking. Their wines lean fresh, vibrant, and balanced, with a restraint that feels very intentional. Nothing feels over extracted or manipulated. There is a purity to the fruit and a transparency to the vineyard sites that makes every tasting feel educational without ever feeling pretentious. The price point is also remarkably accessible for the level of quality they are pouring, which makes exploring their lineup feel exciting rather than intimidating. What sets this tasting room apart, though, is the people. Michael has been instrumental in helping me understand the why behind the wine, from farming practices and harvest decisions to fermentation and élevage. There is a genuine openness to sharing knowledge here. Questions are welcomed. Curiosity is encouraged. You never feel talked down to, only invited deeper. Over the past year as a member, I have watched myself grow up in my palate. I have learned what I gravitate toward and why. I have discovered that I love a coastal Chardonnay with tension and minerality, and that a light bodied Pinot with vibrant acidity can be more compelling than something heavy and oaky. That confidence now follows me everywhere. Any restaurant wine list feels approachable. Beyond the wine, Lioco is building something rare, real community. Their pickup parties feel more like gatherings of friends than transactional club events. Their Metiche pop up was a creative and intimate experience that remains one of my favorites. I have walked into events knowing only one person and left with new friends. That says everything. The space itself matches the vibe. In warmer months, there is nothing better than enjoying a glass of Estero on the patio. When it is raining, the bar becomes cozy and warm, often with records spinning in the background. It feels equal parts refined and relaxed, serious about wine but never judgmental. I have brought countless friends here for comprehensive tastings, and more than a few have ended up joining the club themselves. That, to me, is the strongest endorsement.

The high winds really changed the trajectory of our plans. PG&E turned off the power when we were in the coffee shop. Apparently, it affected everyone. It's not too bad wandering around downtown Healdsburg early Sunday morning actually. We knew we would find someone with some wine out. That's when we rounded the corner from Matheson St. down Center and saw Xzavier smiling on the patio after setting the leaf blower to the side. We lamented the high winds and power turned off by PG&E to him, and he welcomed us exclaiming he had wine he could pour. We gladly entered the beautiful patio surrounded by lush foliage. We both took a seat - partial shade and bright rays of sunshine on my back. He brought out whatever our little hearts desired and was very descriptive about the wines. The varietals here are a bit different than most. They had Carignan, Grenache, Petite Verdot and a couple different Zinfandels in addition to the other familiar types such as Chardonnay, Rose, Savignon Blanc, Cabernet and Pinto Noir. I was impressed with the arsenal of wines here! I am usually a fan of the lighter reds which generally translates to Pinot Noir. However, I loved the Grenache! The Old Vine Zinfandel and Azevedo Cabernet I had to take home also. This Cabernet was different than any other I'd ever tasted though.
