$20 tastings but reasonable glass pours. :)

On the way back from a rugged 3 day backpacking trip at Lost Coast, my friends and I showed up with matted hair and 3 day old clothes only to be greeted by the kindest woman working behind the counter! Needless to say, we weren't dressed for a Healdsburg outing but we were treated with the warmest hospitality and kindness. I really appreciate that. This is a cute little spot tucked away from the main square, which I liked! The wines are Italian varietals so it's a little off the beaten track of the Cali pinots and cabs. I really enjoyed their "Bird" wine. It was $10/glass so very reasonable for such a generous pour! Their tastings are $20 for 5 decent pours. Would recommend for their low-key culture!

Fun, cool, younger wine culture in a hip, Brooklyn-like tasting room. 6-7 wines were poured with a charcuterie board including three stellar Italian cheeses. We were more impressed with their whites than reds, but will try both with food after this introduction.

Idlewild is probably my second favourite winery in the area behind Unti. I walked out of this tasting with 9 bottles. They are located just off the main plaza. Walking in I was warmly greeted and was allowed to sit wherever. I ended up sitting at the bar, which is more like a bar to a small kitchen. It's cute! They offer 2 different flights, and I opted for both. They do NOT offer to waive the tastings regardless of how many bottles you buy. There are also no bulk discounts. The thing that got me the most was that these flavourful wines were quite unique. I haven't really experienced whites that tasted super floral, earthy, and honey like; but to be fair, I haven't tried Africa's honey wine either. The reds were definitely tasty, slightly tannic, but fairly soft; It sits softly on the tongue, which is nice. One or two of them Reminded me of a nice Chianti, or the Directors cut of Merlot. Let me end it with the people there are quite upbeat with great personalities. They make you feel instantly like friends. Highly recommended - This is one of the places I definitely want to come back for.

My husband and I stumbled upon this cute wine bar on accident because we were trying to find a spot with small bites to snack on before dinner. We were greeted by the owner, Sam, who gave us a rundown of his business and how he makes small batch wines using grapes traditionally grown in Italy. We ended up having a 5 selection meat and cheese plate which was absolutely divine. The cheeses chosen were unique and delicious. The salami and prosciutto were freshly sliced and top notch. Ordered a glass of Dolcetto and ended up purchasing a bottle of Barbera. Truly a hidden gem in Healdsburg!

    The receipt with the overcharge

I came in hoping to enjoy a birthday week tasting. I came in and requested a tasting. It seemed to be disappointing to the owner that it was for one as my husband is my designated driver. He stated that the tasting would be $40 per person including cheese and salumi. I had high hopes to have a great experience but it was far from that. We were seated outside and were inundated by flies! Literally to the point of being offered a screen to place over our cheese. The attendants were changed mid tasting which I thought was strange and unprofessional. I was actually charged $65.40 for 1 tasting.. Honestly this felt like a bait and switch. I would absolutely NOT recommend this winery. I am so upset to have been treated this way. Not to mention the WEBSITE even states that the tasting is $40. What gives? The winemaker was upstairs on his computer the whole time and took time to say happy birthday when I was on the way out But it was hollow and meaningless. Be honest. If you are charging additional for your cheese plate fine. I would love to receive honest information upfront.

We chose to drop in Marine Layer Wines. The tasting room is located in a very nice area in beautiful downtown Healdsburg across Healdsburg square. Parking is accessible all around the street and Healdsburg square. The modern decor was beautiful and bright. There were plenty of tables and couches to accommodate all different size parties. The vibe was inviting and family friendly. There was a cozy fireplace in the front as well. We ordered a glass of Lyra Pinot Noir and a glass of Aries Chardonnay. My Pinot Noir was smooth while the wifey's Chardonnay was crisp and refreshing. The wine was great quality. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Marine Layer Wines. The staff was nice and helpful. Our server Akayla was super patient and fun, she explained the history of the winery and told fun stories about the owners. The place was clean and organized. They knew exactly what they were doing and I am so impressed with the hospitality! The quantity of food you get with the food + pairings option is not enough for a meal, but perfect for a snack. We were told the lunch dishes are the same but bigger portions. My favorite dishes from the tasting was the Brick Cooked Chicken and the Chocolate Lamington Dessert. My favorite wine was not one that paired with those two, but it was called Elate Grange Cuvée which was a red blend. I was considering the wine membership but what attracted me the most was not the wine but the food + wine pairing experience. So although I didn't sign up to be a member, I will definitely come back as a customer! I want to bring my parents next time for either lunch with pairings or the food with pairings option.

If you had told me two years ago that I would confidently navigate a wine list or casually discuss soil types and native fermentation, I would have laughed. When I first walked into Lioco Tasting Room, I genuinely could not tell you whether I preferred white or red. Joining their wine club has since become one of the best investments I have made, not only in my wine knowledge, but in my social life. Lioco is the definition of thoughtful, terroir driven winemaking. Their wines lean fresh, vibrant, and balanced, with a restraint that feels very intentional. Nothing feels over extracted or manipulated. There is a purity to the fruit and a transparency to the vineyard sites that makes every tasting feel educational without ever feeling pretentious. The price point is also remarkably accessible for the level of quality they are pouring, which makes exploring their lineup feel exciting rather than intimidating. What sets this tasting room apart, though, is the people. Michael has been instrumental in helping me understand the why behind the wine, from farming practices and harvest decisions to fermentation and élevage. There is a genuine openness to sharing knowledge here. Questions are welcomed. Curiosity is encouraged. You never feel talked down to, only invited deeper. Over the past year as a member, I have watched myself grow up in my palate. I have learned what I gravitate toward and why. I have discovered that I love a coastal Chardonnay with tension and minerality, and that a light bodied Pinot with vibrant acidity can be more compelling than something heavy and oaky. That confidence now follows me everywhere. Any restaurant wine list feels approachable. Beyond the wine, Lioco is building something rare, real community. Their pickup parties feel more like gatherings of friends than transactional club events. Their Metiche pop up was a creative and intimate experience that remains one of my favorites. I have walked into events knowing only one person and left with new friends. That says everything. The space itself matches the vibe. In warmer months, there is nothing better than enjoying a glass of Estero on the patio. When it is raining, the bar becomes cozy and warm, often with records spinning in the background. It feels equal parts refined and relaxed, serious about wine but never judgmental. I have brought countless friends here for comprehensive tastings, and more than a few have ended up joining the club themselves. That, to me, is the strongest endorsement.

The high winds really changed the trajectory of our plans. PG&E turned off the power when we were in the coffee shop. Apparently, it affected everyone. It's not too bad wandering around downtown Healdsburg early Sunday morning actually. We knew we would find someone with some wine out. That's when we rounded the corner from Matheson St. down Center and saw Xzavier smiling on the patio after setting the leaf blower to the side. We lamented the high winds and power turned off by PG&E to him, and he welcomed us exclaiming he had wine he could pour. We gladly entered the beautiful patio surrounded by lush foliage. We both took a seat - partial shade and bright rays of sunshine on my back. He brought out whatever our little hearts desired and was very descriptive about the wines. The varietals here are a bit different than most. They had Carignan, Grenache, Petite Verdot and a couple different Zinfandels in addition to the other familiar types such as Chardonnay, Rose, Savignon Blanc, Cabernet and Pinto Noir. I was impressed with the arsenal of wines here! I am usually a fan of the lighter reds which generally translates to Pinot Noir. However, I loved the Grenache! The Old Vine Zinfandel and Azevedo Cabernet I had to take home also. This Cabernet was different than any other I'd ever tasted though. The grapes grow amongst Eucalyptus trees, and that flavor profile carried over into the wine. The smell and the taste was most unique and lovely. When you think there's not much difference out there, Selby will prove you wrong. This is an exceptional tasting room complete with patio full of flowers and greenery. I will gladly repeat this experience.
