Bottle of Pinot Noir bought at BloodRoot

Great little tasting room. The hosts were friendly and the pinot noir we tried was very good and incredibly reasonable. We bought two bottles and drank them on our hotel balcony to bookend our dinner that evening.

What a fun and great discovery. Off the north east corner of the Healdsburg square, almost hiding in the back of a parking is Blood Root. Again without a reservation, we were able to snag an open table on the patio in the parking lot. Zach was fabulous. Neither Jeremy or I had ever heard of this winery. So Zach filled us in on the owner and his philosophy. The $25 flight included these 6 tastings- 2016 Blanc de Gris $42, crisp, not tart for the summer 2018 Reserve Chardonnay $42 not your usual oaky Chardonnay, enjoyed it 2019 Reserve Pinot Noir $48 2019 Carignan $36 a new one to me 2018 Undertow Red Blend $38 great blend for this winter 2018 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon $65 Along with the flight, a bowl of locally made spiced nuts were served. Mmmm. Highly recommend a reservation on the patio. Ask for Zack and have him tell you all about these fabulous tastings wines.

This is an awesome little spot tucked away in Downtown Healdsburg. I was out wine tasting for my birthday and a friend had recommended checking out this newer place. It was very clean with a large deck patio which gives it a back yard vibe. The server Lucienne took care of my group with attentive service and enthusiasm for her wines. She has a friendly personality which made our visit well worth it. I look forward to stop in again. The flights were $25 each so you can prepare for the cost. I don't know if they serve any food items. I had just eaten lunch, so I did not bother asking about an appetizer menu

GREAT place. We found this place by chance since many of the other wineries were either not dog friendly or fully booked. The inside is gorgeous. I think the tasting is worth $25 since you got 5 different types. All the wines were very solid- we ended up getting 2 bottles. Jess was amazing!! Great service and incredibly knowledgeable about the wines. They were friendly and poured well ;D 10/10 would come back. ps: DONT SLEEEP ON THE NUTS! Amazballs.

    yum!

You don't need a reservation however we were visiting in the off season and you'd probably want one during season. We were quickly seated in a comfortable area and our tasting began. A big reason for the 5 star review was our host Wolfgang. He was an incredible host, perceptive, kind, knows his wine and really cares. Throughout our tasting we learned about the wines on offer as well as background into the area which really adds to the experience. The wines, albeit subjective to individual palate were really good. I enjoyed them all and we left with a few bottles to try later. They have quite the range in their vineyards from Oregon down to Santa Barbara that really express the climates they grow in. The tasting room is very relaxing and inviting which leads to a really good experience. I really enjoyed Siduri and would recommend.

They also have a beautiful map showing where their grapes come from. Siduri specializes in cool-climate Pinot Noirs from vineyards along the California coast all the way up to Washington and Oregon.  During the tasting I enjoyed: - 2023 Sonoma County Chardonnay - 2021 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir - 2020 Sealift Vineyard Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast AVA The RRV Pinot Noir was hands down my favorite and a great price point too.  Chris was our host and he was wonderful and very knowledgeable about all the wines and answered all our questions throughout the visit. If you had told me two years ago that I would confidently navigate a wine list or casually discuss soil types and native fermentation, I would have laughed. When I first walked into Lioco Tasting Room, I genuinely could not tell you whether I preferred white or red. Joining their wine club has since become one of the best investments I have made, not only in my wine knowledge, but in my social life. Lioco is the definition of thoughtful, terroir driven winemaking. Their wines lean fresh, vibrant, and balanced, with a restraint that feels very intentional. Nothing feels over extracted or manipulated. There is a purity to the fruit and a transparency to the vineyard sites that makes every tasting feel educational without ever feeling pretentious. The price point is also remarkably accessible for the level of quality they are pouring, which makes exploring their lineup feel exciting rather than intimidating. What sets this tasting room apart, though, is the people. Michael has been instrumental in helping me understand the why behind the wine, from farming practices and harvest decisions to fermentation and élevage. There is a genuine openness to sharing knowledge here. Questions are welcomed. Curiosity is encouraged. You never feel talked down to, only invited deeper. Over the past year as a member, I have watched myself grow up in my palate. I have learned what I gravitate toward and why. I have discovered that I love a coastal Chardonnay with tension and minerality, and that a light bodied Pinot with vibrant acidity can be more compelling than something heavy and oaky. That confidence now follows me everywhere. Any restaurant wine list feels approachable. Beyond the wine, Lioco is building something rare, real community. Their pickup parties feel more like gatherings of friends than transactional club events. Their Metiche pop up was a creative and intimate experience that remains one of my favorites. I have walked into events knowing only one person and left with new friends. That says everything. The space itself matches the vibe. In warmer months, there is nothing better than enjoying a glass of Estero on the patio. When it is raining, the bar becomes cozy and warm, often with records spinning in the background. It feels equal parts refined and relaxed, serious about wine but never judgmental. I have brought countless friends here for comprehensive tastings, and more than a few have ended up joining the club themselves. That, to me, is the strongest endorsement.

The high winds really changed the trajectory of our plans. PG&E turned off the power when we were in the coffee shop. Apparently, it affected everyone. It's not too bad wandering around downtown Healdsburg early Sunday morning actually. We knew we would find someone with some wine out. That's when we rounded the corner from Matheson St. down Center and saw Xzavier smiling on the patio after setting the leaf blower to the side. We lamented the high winds and power turned off by PG&E to him, and he welcomed us exclaiming he had wine he could pour. We gladly entered the beautiful patio surrounded by lush foliage. We both took a seat - partial shade and bright rays of sunshine on my back. He brought out whatever our little hearts desired and was very descriptive about the wines. The varietals here are a bit different than most. They had Carignan, Grenache, Petite Verdot and a couple different Zinfandels in addition to the other familiar types such as Chardonnay, Rose, Savignon Blanc, Cabernet and Pinto Noir. I was impressed with the arsenal of wines here! I am usually a fan of the lighter reds which generally translates to Pinot Noir. However, I loved the Grenache! The Old Vine Zinfandel and Azevedo Cabernet I had to take home also. This Cabernet was different than any other I'd ever tasted though. The grapes grow amongst Eucalyptus trees, and that flavor profile carried over into the wine. The smell and the taste was most unique and lovely. When you think there's not much difference out there, Selby will prove you wrong. This is an exceptional tasting room complete with patio full of flowers and greenery.
