Walking down to the picnic table from the parking
Sheila S.

I booked months in advance because I already knew that we were coming through Sebastopol on our way to bodega Bay in March and David emailed me back upon my inquiry. I did have to call in with my credit card to reserve the spot. Fast forward several months and it is Wednesday at 11 AM. We arrive at Moondance cellars gate but it is closed and there is just a keypad we don't know what to press. I called the number listed on Google maps, but get the machine. Luckily David calls back a few minutes later as he was running a little bit late. He electronically opened the gates for us, and we parked to the left side and walked down to the pond/picnic table. We had two greyhounds with us, and they were thrilled with the horses. David's little dog Mike wasn't so thrilled with the greyhounds, but they all were fine together. There were six of us, but only five of us were doing the tastings. We tasted two whites and two reds at the picnic table, and then we got a revisit our favorite wine as we walked down to the garage area to see the hot rods. We also saw a family of deer in the next winery over. Moondance does not have its own grapes, but there are some vineyards around the property. David was here on his own today as his wife was out and he was happy to hear we had nowhere else to be so we didn't have to rush. He said pared down in life to the things he loves doing, like these tastings. Upon payment time, we went inside to the store/tasting bar/shed and paid for our $25 tastings and the bottles we were taking home. The toilet is in the front of the house. There was a laminated sheet with tasting notes and prices, but David told us to ignore the tasting notes as everybody has individual tastes.

We had a great time wine tasting here for a birthday. We tried several delicious wines and one of our friends became a member. I loved that it was an intimate experience and we were allowed to bring food. They had a great property and even showed us their horses and hot rods. They only take 3 reservations a day and only accept reservations over the phone.

An absolutely wonderful wine tasting experience! We needed a place that was family friendly, outside, and with great wine, and, boy, did we find it. David encouraged us to bring a picnic spread, then poured some delicious wines for us, while our children played with the dog, looked at the horses with Priscilla, and peered into the pond. We spent the afternoon tasting wine and listening to David's fantastic tales. I'm not going to pretend that I am a fancy wine expert, but I have consumed plenty, and I do know what I like. My favorites of the day were the Sauvignon blanc and the Merlot. We were so delighted by the offerings at Moondance Cellars, we bought a case. Thank you again, Priscilla and David, for a fantastic afternoon!

I recently took a trip to the Bodega Bay area with my family. I have been there before but my family had never been there. As part of the trip we wanted to visit a winery/vineyard that was family-friendly and low-key. My wife found Moondance Cellars in the Sebastopol area online and based on the amazing reviews, we decided to give it a shot. It literally felt as if we were visiting a family member and we're hanging out and drinking wine. David and Priscilla were amazing host and my entire family was entertained in some way shape or form. Our ages ranged from my 4 year old daughter to my 68 year old mom. It was great wine, great atmosphere, great conversation and overall great people. Just a truly genuine experience. Thank you for hosting us. Looking forward to getting our shipment of wine!!! Chris Mosquera

This hidden gem was a delightful hour-and-a-half appointment with Dave and Priscilla. The staff (owners Dave and Priscilla ) wore masks and practiced the proper COVID-19 PPE and distancing protocol. Once we got to the tasting our masks came off of course. The tasting was delightful. Dave is an awesome storyteller with many insights about the wine, wine making process and the local area. I enjoyed every single wine on the flight. The standout for me was the 2020 Sauvignon Blanc. We were taken on a quick tour of their property, accompanied by Mike the dog - awesome views, horses, vintage cars. If you are looking for a pleasant, slow paced wine tasting experience with a view, I would recommend Moondance.

Another day in Paradise

The whole world has changed over the past few years but an afternoon spent with David and Priscilla at their ranch, tasting wonderful wines and sharing stories of their lives and yours remains a Sonoma experience not soon forgotten. If you are like my wife and me, I bet you will want to be a Moondance wine club member and become part of the Moondance family. We look forward to our visit to Sebastapol every summer and we relive those precious moments each time our Moondance wine shipments arrive!

This winery was the cutest, most laid back tasting with the best wine! I booked a private shuttle for 11 people for my birthday and David (the owner) graciously let us all crash his winery. Him and his wife were so welcoming and inviting. We tasted his delicious, award-winning wines then toured the property before snapping some pics and heading on our way after a couple hours but we would've been perfectly happy lounging around there all day. Thanks for a great birthday, David!

Sooooooo, guys. This winery is AWESOME! As I write this I'm enjoying a glass of the 2016 Chardonnay. I've literally been saving it since March (when I visited) because I knew once I drank it it would be a long while before I could get a replacement. My girls and I discovered this charming winery during my bachelorette weekend. We fell in love with it. We were treated like family and had such an amazing time. Once we're allowed to roam California again we WILL be back. Until then, CHEERS!

David and Pricilla were so kind and gracious! The wine was delicious and their hospitality was unbeatable. The horses are so sweet and the fun you have with the personal tasting is what you will get from this visit!

What a hidden gem off the beaten path! As I was searching for wineries in Sonoma, I came across the website for Moondance Cellars. I was intrigued by the idea of tasting wine while visiting with horses and dogs. My partner was equally excited by the opportunity to explore a few stellar classic cars. Our expectations were met and exceeded! David and Priscilla are a husband/wife duo who have been making wine on their own terms, using both standard and innovative techniques. They have a variety of whites (chardonnay) and reds (pinot noir, merlot, cabernet sauvignon). There was not a single wine that I did not enjoy. My two favorites were the pinot and cab. During the tasting, David explained his whole process to us, including the history of Moondance. While he was speaking with us, it was clear that his sole focus was on us, and he wanted to get to know us. After the wine tasting, David gave us an extra pour and gave us a tour of the property. We were able to say hello to Teddy (a horse) and explore several classic cars. It felt like a home away from home. Visiting Moondance Cellars was spectacular. I cannot recommend it more highly. We are going home members of Moondance's Wine Club so that we can enjoy David and Priscilla's wine year round. Moondance is absolutely worth a visit. Thank you to David and Priscilla!

This small batch winery is so lovely. The owners are amazing with their one on one intimate experience and the wines are beautifully unique. The cab is exceptionally special - it is done in unique fashion that you can learn about when you visit ;) have fun!

This business does not care about it's customers and is so impossible to reach it's almost comical…read more I was a long-term customer of Fog Crest. In 2024 we received a shipment of wine where all the wine in the shipment was broken. In typical situations, wineries offer replacement of broken bottles, but Fog Crest was impossible to reach in spite of (literally) 50 phone calls and emails. Since I couldn't reach them, I canceled my subscription to their wine club. Flash forward a few months, they charge me another ~$500 on my credit card for wine, but never ship me any wine (in spite of the fact that I had already canceled online). Again, dozens of calls and emails, no answer and no response. Still trying. A few months after that, they charge me ANOTHER ~$500 on my credit card for wine, but don't ship that wine to me either. After probably 100 calls and emails, I finally talk to the wine club coordinator on the phone. She of course acknowledges my dozens of messages, and acknowledges my situation. She says she will replace the wine that was broken and figure out why they've been charging me for wine I haven't been receiving and make it right. But that she can't talk right now and she'd call me back with more information. That was a month ago. I've now called again dozens of times, and emailed. No response. Called and emailed the owner, no response. This is borderline criminal: $1,500 in charges for undelivered product, a non-existent customer service experience, and an online system so archaic that it doesn't process your cancelation and continues to charge you for product.

Zero Accountability and Terrible Customer Service - Avoid Fog Crest!…read more I'm absolutely appalled by my experience with Fog Crest Winery. We joined their wine club in 2023 and was charged $420 all of 2024/25 for wine that they NEVER shipped. When I called to inquire about where the wine was, I was met with complete silence--multiple calls and messages went unanswered. After finally getting a call back, the person said they only called me back because "she saw we had called a lot in one day." That was the first red flag. She promised to credit my account and look into another charge that had been applied. It's been SEVEN days since that conversation, and STILL no credit, no updates, and no resolution. I've followed up with multiple calls, messages, and emails... NOTHING. At this point, it's clear that they don't care about their customers. I highly recommend staying far away from Fog Crest if you value your time and money. Total waste of both

I always come to listen to music- specifically jazz, which they feature quite a bit. The outdoor setting at this location is very nice. I could see it conducive for events or group reservations. I came with a friend to hear the music and there's plenty of seating. There's a huge redwood tree near the table which offers shade and there are also umbrellas in the sunnier locations. They were making pizza in their own pizza oven today- however for a 10 inch pizza I thought $22 was a little bit much. There are definitely a nice variety of Pinot's offered. However, I was in the mood for something chilled and I opted for their Rose of Pinot. I was pleased with the size of the pour but not sure I would order that variety again. We all loved the wines so much that everyone bought at least 1 bottle, and two of us signed up for their wine club. In fact, we had such a good time, that our group came BACK to share a bottle of wine in between our reservations. Dave took care of us and we were happy to spend some more time with him. It is such a great place -- the wine is incredible, service is excellent, views are gorgeous, and you feel you are right where you belong. Cheers!
