Put group had such a wonderful time at Freeman! I mixed up the schedule and showed up unannounced but David took care of us! I would recommend calling in advance though. David was very knowledgeable about the wines and told us so many interesting facts about how the owner makes the wines. The setting is beautiful and it's so fun to go into the cave where they keep all the wines. I will definitely be coming back!!!

Superb cool climate Pinot noirs and Chardonnay crafted by this minority/woman-owned winery! Freeman winery has been on my list for a while now, and it definitely met my high expectations! I visited with a friend who is a wine club member, and we sampled a broad portfolio of wines before leaving with half a case to bring home! Our favorites include: Yuki 2016, Chardonnay 2011 and 2016 (magnum), Akiko's Cuvee 2019 and 2021. Perhaps the most magical part of our tasting was the pairing of Japanese bites with the wines. A wasabi-corn chowder with their Chardonnay, Tatsuta Age (lightly seared chicken) with Akiko's Cuvee... we were in heaven! The entire experience was made memorable by their incredible staff. We had the good fortune to chat briefly with Akiko (the winemaker), as well as Dar and Eiji, all of whom were friendly and only too happy to share their wine knowledge with us! Would definitely recommend.

Our group did the $30 pp cave tour with tasting but it turned out to be just a cave tasting. Not really worth the price. There wasn't much of a tour and much information. The lady owner told us when the tasting room and cave was built in the beginning of the tasting. We felt awkward since it was quiet and not much talking so we talked amongst ourselves but the lady was just there. We tried asking some questions. The wines were quite good. There was only Chardonnay and Pinot noirs. We left with a bottle of Pinot noir around $75. There's areas where you can take some nice photos outside.

We had a fantastic tasting experience and tour here with our host, Nick. We were the last tour of the day, and we benefited greatly from Nick's incredible knowledge about the wine and about the history of the winery. The pinot noir here was amazing, especially the KR Ranch Pinot. Overall the whole tasting experience blew us away because we were treated like VIPs when we scheduled a regular tasting. The cave is incredibly unique and the whole place was charming and quaint. And of course, the wine was the best part.

I'd be hard-pressed to think of a better experience I had at a winery. I arranged in advance a tour/tasting with the propietor, Ken Freeman, for myself and about 15 friends when we were renting a house in nearby Guerneville. He was very accomodating, especially since a lot of my party ended up being late! Ken walked us through the crushing/fermenting house at the front of the property (the first thing you see when you drive up the private driveway), then took us into the BEAUTIFUL wine cave where he led us through a very nice tasting of all of their wines (a wonderful Chardonnay and four amazing Pinot Noirs). The winery only makes a few wines, which really allows them to focus on quality--and boy, does it show. It's no wonder that some of the best restaurants in the country carry these wines (French Laundry, Per Se, Michael Mina, Gary Danko, etc.). It's all the more special given that the wines are priced in the $40-$50 range; they are great deals considering how delicious they are. Everyone in my party was equally as impressed as I was. You need to make an appointment as it's not open for drop-ins, but it is well worth it!

Every single bottle is special! Wine made with passion!

Fantastic winery with great wines and awesome people behind it!!! I'm Very impressed!!! Continue success Akiko!

This business does not care about it's customers and is so impossible to reach it's almost comical…read more I was a long-term customer of Fog Crest. In 2024 we received a shipment of wine where all the wine in the shipment was broken. In typical situations, wineries offer replacement of broken bottles, but Fog Crest was impossible to reach in spite of (literally) 50 phone calls and emails. Since I couldn't reach them, I canceled my subscription to their wine club. Flash forward a few months, they charge me another ~$500 on my credit card for wine, but never ship me any wine (in spite of the fact that I had already canceled online). Again, dozens of calls and emails, no answer and no response. Still trying. A few months after that, they charge me ANOTHER ~$500 on my credit card for wine, but don't ship that wine to me either. After probably 100 calls and emails, I finally talk to the wine club coordinator on the phone. She of course acknowledges my dozens of messages, and acknowledges my situation. She says she will replace the wine that was broken and figure out why they've been charging me for wine I haven't been receiving and make it right. But that she can't talk right now and she'd call me back with more information. That was a month ago. I've now called again dozens of times, and emailed. No response. Called and emailed the owner, no response. This is borderline criminal: $1,500 in charges for undelivered product, a non-existent customer service experience, and an online system so archaic that it doesn't process your cancelation and continues to charge you for product.

Zero Accountability and Terrible Customer Service - Avoid Fog Crest!…read more I'm absolutely appalled by my experience with Fog Crest Winery. We joined their wine club in 2023 and was charged $420 all of 2024/25 for wine that they NEVER shipped. When I called to inquire about where the wine was, I was met with complete silence--multiple calls and messages went unanswered. After finally getting a call back, the person said they only called me back because "she saw we had called a lot in one day." That was the first red flag. She promised to credit my account and look into another charge that had been applied. It's been SEVEN days since that conversation, and STILL no credit, no updates, and no resolution. I've followed up with multiple calls, messages, and emails... NOTHING. At this point, it's clear that they don't care about their customers. I highly recommend staying far away from Fog Crest if you value your time and money. Total waste of both

I always come to listen to music- specifically jazz, which they feature quite a bit. The outdoor setting at this location is very nice. I could see it conducive for events or group reservations. I came with a friend to hear the music and there's plenty of seating. There's a huge redwood tree near the table which offers shade and there are also umbrellas in the sunnier locations. They were making pizza in their own pizza oven today- however for a 10 inch pizza I thought $22 was a little bit much. There are definitely a nice variety of Pinot's offered. However, I was in the mood for something chilled and I opted for their Rose of Pinot. I was pleased with the size of the pour but not sure I would order that variety again. I tasted here with a friend a few months ago during the Route 116 club member appreciation weekend, and we enjoyed our very peaceful tasting. Char Vale is a small but quaint winery that's located off the beaten path in Sebastopol. If you're a lover of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, then you will definitely enjoy the wines here. The majority of their wines are single vineyard and small production, so you'll really be able to taste the difference in quality. We enjoyed a tasting of 5 of their wines; Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Rose of Pinot Noir, and 2 of their Pinot Noirs. My absolute favorites were their Single Vineyard Chardonnay and both of their Estate Pinot Noirs. Their Pinots are simply amazing here. Smooth, silky, and easy drinking. These are the types of Pinots that can be enjoyed on a warm day alongside your favorite white wines. Their estate is quite charming. Parking is extremely tight, but they have a nice bocce ball court in the front and a really beautiful garden area near the entrance. Their indoor tasting space is small but still very inviting and bright. From the front, it doesn't look like they'd have much of a back patio. But once you walk through the tasting room and onto their patio deck, those vineyard views will hit you like a ton of bricks! They have some gorgeous views tucked back there on their patio! The best part about tasting here is that it's not crazy crowded like some of the other nearby tasting rooms. It's a super peaceful experience even with other parties around. The patio tables are nicely spread out, and each one gives you an incredible view of their vineyards right below. The tables are shaded too, so no need to burn up in the sun. Although the wine and atmosphere were enjoyable, the service was lacking. Valerie was really sweet and did explain a few details about the wines, but we felt like she could have done a lot more. She was the only one manning the tasting room, but there were only 2 other parties there during our visit. We just wished that she would have been a little more present during our tasting. Aside from this, we still had a nice time. This is a great choice for anyone who is looking for a more peaceful and relaxing tasting experience.
