This was our first stop on a wine tour and it was our least favorite. I'm all about the experience and unfortunately on this day the experience was missing. We were seated poured wine told the name of the wine and that was it. I would have loved the story about the wine history and taste. I also don't want to have to use a stinky porta potty either. For our quick weekend in Napa & Sonoma, I was looking for a couple new places to visit in addition to our club wineries. Because we were staying in Windsor overnight and had a wine club release party at Martin Ray starting at noon, I looked for small places off the beaten path but still close to where we needed to be. I happened upon Campana Ranch thanks to Yelp. Reading the reviews, I thought that this winery fit everything I was looking for - mom-and-pop style, good atmosphere, kind staff. I sent an email to inquire about a visit, and Sher responded quickly. We arrived a few minutes early and were content to sit outside the gate until 10AM rolled around (yes, we're those people). Steve was outside working to set up the tasting area and saw us waiting. He came to let us in (still a couple minutes before 10) and greeted us with a handshake and smile. We were off to a great start! He explained how Campana Ranch came to be and pointed out some of his barrels-in-progress. He gave us the option of sitting outside on the little patio or inside with a heater - we opted for the inside of his small, quaint, work space. He sat with us for almost 2 hours and guided his through his fantastic wine. Steve knows his art (and his grapes) and provides a bit of magic in each bottle, showcasing the grapes, the terroir, and his craft. We joined the club - how could we not?! He is such a personable and welcoming gentleman, and let's be honest, his wine is excellent. If you like non-commercial, quaint, bold reds, and truly feeling welcomed and then educated, Campana Ranch is the place for you. Thank you, Steve, for being such a great teacher and host! read more

We did a virtual wine tasting with Campana for a friend's birthday and it was the best wine tasting any of us have ever experienced. Friends from all over the country were able to tune in via zoom. Steve was not only kind and knowledge but also very responsive to our various questions. The winery ships you the wines and tells you what types of cheese and such you'll need to fully participate in the tasting. They then guide you through through various pairings explaining the different effects of each food on the wine. The virtual wine tasting was better than any of us could have expected. Definitely recommend to anyone remotely interested in wine and will repeat the experience in the future. We truly loved Steve and will visit the winery in person ASAP! read more

Steve is the kind of incredibly intelligent, not-at-all pretentious, and humbly skilled man that you wish was your uncle or godfather. His filtered natural wines are delicious, he can answer any question about winemaking, metallurgy (he teaches blacksmithing in his "spare" time!), and is overall a great guy with a fabulous wine. By far my most favorite winery I have been to! The owner Steve took care of my family and I and we had a blast! The property is also his wife's horse farm, and it is fully operating. Which was so neat to see the animals. Such a casual, fun tasting! And the wines...oh my gosh! AMAZING. I wish we could have stayed longer and talked with Steve more, but we had another appointment we had to get to. That tasting ended up being awful and we all regretted leaving Campana Ranch Winery! You have to make an appointment to come and taste because it is so small, but they are so accommodating with it. I highly recommend this winery to everyone! My husband and I had a blast at Campana Ranch several months ago, after calling them on a lark to see if they were open, since we were hiking nearby. They responded by telling us that they were pressing their last grapes for wine, and to come on over and help them! Witnessing and aiding in the wine making process like that was such a treat. Their tasting room is a very simple shed/barn, and the "ranch" has horses. A very rustic feel, and we were literally the only people there, meaning no annoying tasting room hustle and bustle. But most importantly, their wines were delicious. We bought several bottles and consumed them almost immediately! Of note, they have a petit verdot which is pretty unique. We'll definitely be back to re-stock the next time we are in Healdsburg. read more
