Horse & Plow is a charming place, with the barn style tasting room and outdoor seating surrounded by lots of trees. This was my first time visiting, as well as my first cider tasting. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it. My table did the cider / wine tasting and liked the variety. There were explanations about the cider making process, the area where the grapes and apples were grown as well as recommended food pairings. The tasting was 2 different ciders (heirloom & farmhouse) Sauvignon Blanc and a Pinot. We were fortunate and got a pour of their rosé. We were celebrating a 21st birthday, so brought sandwiches and birthday cake with us, this is allowed for a small fee. They have music Sunday afternoons thru October, but our tasting was a little too early to catch it. I purchased the heirloom cider- it was the table favorite. I Plan on coming back again, great experience and friendly staff.

Had such a nice tasting at Horse and Plow! We had our choice to sit anywhere we liked. While the outside is GORGEOUS, it was a little cold so we sat in the back room where they had couches and a table for larger groups! For $25 you get to taste 4 wines, and for $18 we added on a cheese plate. It was on the pricier side for a tasting (and no fee waived if you buy bottles), but it was really nice and a great location. There was also no offer to "revisit" anything to help us make up our mind about what we wanted to buy like other wineries. I loved everything, but I don't know if I think their wine club would be worth it. Again, their wine was on the pricier side and the club discount was only 10% per shipment. I know there are MANY more expensive wines in our area but this was my experience and out of my price range. That being said, I went home with a bottle of Pinot and I'll definitely be back because the outside area is so beautiful and it's nice having somewhere local to bring people from out of town.

Great Ciders & Wines paired with delicious cheese and charcuterie platters.

We have been enjoying Horse & Plow delicious Ciders and Wines for a few years now and absolutely love going there for the afternoon for tastings. Chris, Suzanne and their staff are always welcoming to us and our guests that we bring to introduce them to their fantastic Ciders and Wines and the hospitality is awesome. We've enjoyed both Cider and Wine tastings and always pair the tastings with cheese and charcuterie plates. The outdoor seating with picnic tables and umbrellas makes for the perfect relaxing day in beautiful Sebastopol. Thank you for providing a great atmosphere with delicious food and wonderful Cider and Wine.

My review of Horse & Plow is long overdue. H&P has become our favorite Sunday hangout! We love everything about this winery from the staff, the beautiful property with a big shady oak tree, their wines, snacks and selection of local artists for entertainment!! Thank you Suzanne and staff for always making us feel special when we visit!

Such a lovely peaceful ambience, warm and wonderf staff, well-selected cheese platter, excellent cider- not too sweet. Would love to come back.

Horse & Plow was a breath of fresh air with more of a picnic-at-a-barn feel rather than an ultra-manicured stone-and-stucco tasting room. We were seated same-day, without a reservation, even though we came on a busy live music weekend day. Technically we weren't supposed to be served flights but the super kind folks here allowed us to try their cider AND their wine flights. All of them were solid, and everything was really carefully explained to us. I wonder if it was the owner himself doing the explaining, because he was really doing it with a passion that you don't always see in your average winery server. I enjoyed trying a number of apple cider varieties that I'd never even heard of before, while also enjoying some good music in that nice picnic setting. And as I understood it, there's even a chicken garden for kids, but don't quote me on that! We liked the ciders plenty. But, we were in town from the East Cost and not able to take a lot with us. So I asked how much it would cost us to ship bottles home. If the shipping price was reasonable I might have gotten around 6-8 bottles of cider (which doesn't exactly make me a high roller, but it's something). I was told to speak with a lady, who I assume is a co-owner, who could help me with shipping. But once I explained that I wanted to know the price for shipping before going ahead with a purchase, it felt like this lady decided to be rude thenceforth. It was as if she realized she wasn't making a sale, or decided that I was a "difficult customer," and decided to just be mentally done with me. She walked away from the ordering spot back to the bar and kept giving me a sort of mean look while her co-owner or colleague came out, patiently explained my shipping options, and then sold me 3 bottles to carry out. During that entire exchange she shot me icy glares. What did I do to deserve that? Look at the other reviews and you'll see that many of them talk about "a lady" who mistreated or was rude to H&P customers for a variety of reasons. Hey, all I got was a mean look, but some other folks were treated pretty badly. It's still worth coming here. The ciders are solid, the wines are decent, the atmosphere is great, people are cool, and the weekend music is lots of fun. Just be aware that you may interact with this lady and she may give you an experience like some of these other reviewers have had.

Amazing classic European style ciders and wine too. They have a great backyard with both covered (in case of rain (we wish!) and sunny. They have some cheese and charcuterie plates available but the star of the show is the ciders. I want to begin by saying that I love cider but most domestic ones are waaaaaay too sweet, more soda than cider. These had bracing acidity and appropriate amount of funkiness. They we're all great but the heirloom really captured my heart with the perfect balance of fruit and funk. When we were there they had a DJ which made our experience even more fun.

Boutique winery small selection During covid - wine selection are six including cider. Purchase a glass of wine, cheese plate or charcuterie. Wine - one was flawed oxidation over all marginal at best This is a Beautiful casual relaxed outside space off busy road. This winery was dog friendly and that's is why we chose it. Overall...over priced. Sonoma County has over 400 wineries, keep looking.

Super cute place on a nice, sunny day. Wine & cider flight was refreshing, and the olives were DIVINE. All staff was friendly and you could hear the passion for their craft in their explanations of the wines, ciders, and process.

They have a massive deck in front, and on a beautiful day, as we had, we got to sit out there and enjoy some delicious wines. I thought the wines were good, but I liked the space more. It has a bit of a retro vibe and many shaded areas to relax. We had a good time sipping and chatting. If you're in the area, I would say stop, get a few glasses, and enjoy that oversized patio. For some reason, the servicer was busy doing other things, although I think we were the only people there. I'll assume she was setting up or cleaning. The service was mediocre at best. We enjoyed the big patio/deck sipping with friends a perfect way to spend your Saturday afternoon. Cheers to you and SYOY

So after we hit Paul Matthew's Winery I had scheduled a visit with Bowman Cellars around the corner…read moreand was greeted by the energetic Flynn. She was attentive for awhile but then lost us because she stopped coming out and pouring more wine. I was booked for a one hour appointment that took 2 plus hours because Flynn seemed out of it or something was up. But idk what it was perhaps she was keeping herself busy with something inside! Hmmm ?! So she started us with a predominant gooseberry Sauvignon Blanc and then we had the Rose of Pinot Noir from Mendocino because the fruit is less expensive than the fruit in the Russian River Valley okay so it was decent with flavors of ripe red fruits such as strawberry and raspberry and a textured finish! Then we had the Chardonnay which was decent quality for a Chardonnay it had seen 20^ new oak gave it flavor and then we had the Russian River Valley Pinot Noir which was okay not great it had complexity but not much after hitting Paul Mathew's Pinot dense winery this Pinot seemed to be just okay and then we got to the final wine a red Zinfandel from the Sierra Foothills area and it was big and bold but lacking distinctive flavors. I didn't love it! . Then since they're not especially friendly towards those in the business because it's a 15% discount on wines purchased where I usually get a 30% discount and a comped tasting to which they usually will offer the rose' and Sauvignon Blanc to anyone in the industry!! Only I mean who is in the wine industry and wants to drink those wines, not me!! But I stand corrected because she did comp 2 of the tastings!! And that's good or required because I asked to be comped and was given some goofy answer as to they decide at the end of the tasting who gets comped or not but the fee is only $25 bones so not bad. Further, I requested to taste their Cabs to which theirs 1 from Alexander Valley and 1 from Oakville, Napa area and Flynn said yes, but warned me they had been opened on Thursday and it's Saturday so taken that point in I really liked the Cab from Alexander Valley because it had a light tone to it with a richness of blackberry fruit and savory spices it was superb while the one from Napa tasted dead on arrival!! Oh well but I could taste the potential of the wine within it!! And we left after tipping $40 bones!!

This business does not care about it's customers and is so impossible to reach it's almost comical…read more I was a long-term customer of Fog Crest. In 2024 we received a shipment of wine where all the wine in the shipment was broken. In typical situations, wineries offer replacement of broken bottles, but Fog Crest was impossible to reach in spite of (literally) 50 phone calls and emails. Since I couldn't reach them, I canceled my subscription to their wine club. Flash forward a few months, they charge me another ~$500 on my credit card for wine, but never ship me any wine (in spite of the fact that I had already canceled online). Again, dozens of calls and emails, no answer and no response. Still trying. A few months after that, they charge me ANOTHER ~$500 on my credit card for wine, but don't ship that wine to me either. After probably 100 calls and emails, I finally talk to the wine club coordinator on the phone. She of course acknowledges my dozens of messages, and acknowledges my situation. She says she will replace the wine that was broken and figure out why they've been charging me for wine I haven't been receiving and make it right. But that she can't talk right now and she'd call me back with more information. That was a month ago. I've now called again dozens of times, and emailed. No response. Called and emailed the owner, no response. This is borderline criminal: $1,500 in charges for undelivered product, a non-existent customer service experience, and an online system so archaic that it doesn't process your cancelation and continues to charge you for product.

Place was empty aside from one other party so they were able to accommodate the walk in. The tasting room itself is nicely decorated, clean, spacious, with a more private room in the back and several tables outside. Reason from giving this place a 5 stars is we felt this place was very transactional and not personable like many other wineries in the Sonoma area. Once the tasting flight is done they ask you to either join the club for the comp, buy two bottles, or pay the $35 tasting fee - no offer to revisit any wines or pour something extra they have in inventory. I was curious to try their Sonoma cost Syrah but they didn't have any bottles open. Wines themselves were fine - enjoyed the Pinot rose and Chardonnay (made in Chablis style so more minerality), but their Pinot noirs were quite different from the typical Sonoma coast ones I've had (e.g Williams seylem, Kosta browne, Rochiolli, Arista, etc). These were much darker and less aromatic, no tannins and fuller bodied with some spice notes but short finish. The gentleman pouring for us said these are good to pair with foods, which I could imagine is true. Their estate syrah is similar in style, so similar to their Pinot noir actually, a lighter bodies and ABV Syrah that doesn't have the depth and complexity as syrahs from Paso region that I personally enjoy. But anyways, these are personal preference - when I mentioned a specific tasting note, our host basically said I was wrong. I laughed it off and went along with it, but it didn't sit well.

I did enjoy the seating experience, the charcuterie box, and the mini impromptu tour everyone was given of the production. The wine itself was underwhelming for the price and as nothing stood out to us, we finished our tasting and didn't grab anything to go. As we weren't wine club members here, the host didn't pay us much attention. Worth trying once, maybe, to see if their wines are to your liking.
