We popped in to chase down a bottle of their rare Apple Brandy, and we scored on this. This is one of the best cideries around and now they have added the Apple Brandy to the lineup. Not "cheap" for sure, but well worth the price. It can easily be sipped over ice or added to many a cocktail with delicious outcomes. Look forward to hanging out here over the summer months. It is in the Barlow Center and there is always something to see and do around the area. Great job on the

I don't write reviews for adult libations, so this will focus on the food. Anyway, a day trip with my Pop led us to Golden State Cider. Cider is something we both enjoy. My friends and coworkers like this place, and having recently returned from Europe, where there's plenty of cider, we both wanted to check it out! First off, the vibes were great--a super low-key, open, and airy space with a pleasant atmosphere. You feel welcomed whether a visitor or a local. There are games to play, merchandise to buy, fun little posters and events posted, making it all in all a fun gathering place. There's plenty of seating, bar seating, plus communal tables. There's also a decent amount of outdoor seating. The woman who helped us was lovely to chat with and so helpful. Ordering is a breeze, as you can order at the bar and receive your drink immediately. They're also dog-friendly inside and outside! As of September 2025, Golden State Cider partners with three restaurants. You view the menu they have, then place your order with the bartender. Workers from the restaurant you order from will deliver the food. Then you can enjoy it with your drink! My Pop and I shared the Belly and Jelly and Truffle Fries. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft inside. The truffle oil didn't overpower it and came with yummy dipping sauces. The sandwich was good, quite heavy, and had a variety of flavors from fruits and proteins. I wouldn't get it again, but it was good to try. I highly recommend Golden State Cider if you're a cider enthusiast. I already have plans to come back. I haven't met someone who hasn't liked it. They're off Morris Street in a cute neighborhood with free street parking around.
Bri was amazing. My daughter and I got a dazzling smile the minute we hit the door. Bri was very patient and had all the answers for all our questions about the products. I know cider for well I've even made cider and she had the answers for all my questions which was really impressive. Approaching the place, she noticed the size of it. It's pretty big. It's well marked so you'll be easily able to spot it on the side of the street. They have plenty of outdoor seating and they offer food inside of a menu with the shared restaurant in the area the thread they bring the food over. So you get it while it's hot and you order off a menu and it's Absolutely delicious. I had the bacon apricot cheese sandwich that was grilled and the garlic fries which were perfect. My daughter and I shared them. We both started off with two different types of flights of cider to get an idea of the range of things that they do with the cider. One of the things I realized is I tasted it is that they put great thought into every step of what they're doing. When something has a name like a fruit in front of it or something sometimes it can have a tendency to be too powerful or too much sugar this had beautiful balance, and I gave you that hint of something that you wanted to have in your beverage. Everyone has their own favorites. My fave was the Pippin. My daughter likes the pog. They also do an amazingly beautiful, elegant apple brandy. And it's true to the nature of a good apple brandy too. It has none of the astringent bitterness that you get from some that are processed cheaply. It has all the qualities of a fine liquor. Of course I had to take a bottle home. It was bragging rights on that one for sure. The excellent five star customer service applied for our entire visit. Our food was exceptional. Everything that we tasted was perfectly thawed out. I really can't think of another way to describe the experience except for coming and enjoy yourself. The location is really nice and upscale too. And last, but not least for Bri ...Congratulations on that wonderful news about your marriage and your great trip up to the state of Washington. Walked around downtown and made a loop in Barlow on a Sunday, Golden State Cider is the place to take a break before heading to more excursion or stay for the live music. We chose this place mostly because we are in Sebastopol, the city of apple, and finding a place that serves cider is pretty much a no brainer. Also, I do not drink alcohol but they offer non-alcoholic options (canned or mocktail). Even they do not serve food, patrons can order food from neighboring business at the table (see pic with the QR code). There were two choices of flights that day: dry or fruity. And who said you can only order one flight?
Apple of My Eye Locally made, owned, and grown cider that comes straight from the apple orchards of Sebastopol's Devoto Orchards. They've been making their cider using 100% fresh-pressed apples since 2012, and have grown tremendously since. You can find their beverages across the state at bars, liquor stores, and restaurants, but this Barlow taproom is their only one, and features exclusive brews you can only find here. The Good: *Located at The Barlow, which is awesome. *Free parking *They've merged with Seismic Brewing, so you can get a beer instead if that's your jam. *Cider is naturally gluten-free and never feels as heavy as beer. *Huge outdoor dog-friendly patio *Friendly service *More than cider and beer, as they also have cider-infused cocktails. The Meh: *No food, but you can pickup food to-go from any of the local restaurants here at The Barlow, and bring it with you. *Interior gets really cramped, really fast. The Ugly: *Parking might be difficult during the busier summer season and on weekends, but we didn't have any issues. Conclusion: Great place to get your apple a day.
Stopped by here to try their two cider flights and was not disappointed! Staff were friendly and walked us through the difference between the two flights as well as some highlights about a featured drink on the sweeter flight. Overall, a great pit stop before having dinner. I also learned that they now make their own apple brandy. If I had more time, I would've tried one of their cocktails with the brandy. I guess I will just have to save that for next time!
I've had their ciders before but never been to this location. Since it was my first time here, we decided to order a flight. I think we got pineapple, guava, Jamaica, and one other flavor. We really liked the guava and pineapple, so later, we ordered a couple of those. The ciders are good, and I love that they have board games to play while you hang out. The tables were clean, and there was a decent amount of seating. The only issue was the service. The lady at the bar seemed distant and not very friendly. She didn't give us any reccomendation and barely spoke to us. I do like ciders. They are one of my favorite drinks, if not my favorite, so I will definitely be back. But from now on, I won't expect good/friendly service. If anything changes, it will just be a nice surprise.
Really fun atmosphere. Good seating. Many varieties. Very tasty! Some food options to order from nearby restaurants or bags of chips, popcorn type munchies. Great outdoor seating as well. Staff friendly and enjoyed all flavors. Only ding would be that it would be nice to choose your own flight, tho outside of can pours, they cover most options with the two pre-selected flights.
This place was awesome. We visiting Santa Rosa and was told about this place from a bookstore clerk. It did not disappoint. We don't drink alcohol so we ordered the two varieties that are alcohol free. The ginger one was so good. It pars great with the truffle fries. I wish we had something like this in Monterey. Staff were so nice. They let my wife pick apples off the tree in the courtyard. That made our trip.
We sat at the bar and had fantastic drinks. Comfortable, relaxed, and the service was prompt and friendly. Could easily have stayed longer but had other places to be. Would definitely return.

Service was friendly, but not overly attentive. The space is open and welcoming. We sat here for several hours, enjoying our cider, meal and catching up with an old friend.
Bucket list check off for us. Came here for our birthday weekend and we were not disappointed. They had select ciders that you can't get in the store. We also ordered pizza as well. The ciders were good, the pizza ok (but that's not on them). The ambiance was pleasant and the staff was informative and helpful. Definitely will return. Highly recommend. We had the Mutsu, new town pippin, radical pineapple, and one named something Dub after golden state warriors. We took a 4 pack home.

Great vibe throughout this whole place. Nice outdoor patio with the umbrellas and apple trees. When it got too hot, we moved inside which got a nice breeze through the door. Family friendly, including having plenty of board and card games available to play. My husband got the dry flight and I got the sweet flight, we both enjoyed them. They had water cups and a pitcher available as well. There are also plenty of cans to purchase that aren't available elsewhere! read more
We live out of town and every time we are in the area we make it a point to visit GSC. Their cider is by far some of my favorite! And with the tajin rim... get outta heree!! Delicious!!!! The vibe is always super chillC people catching a sporting event on their TV's, pups hanging out... board games are available as well... it's just a place that you would love to be at! read more

This was a cool spot to visit. As someone who enjoys cider, it was nice to see a beautiful spot such as this. The ciders are delicious, the bartenders are attentive. And the ambiance was very chill and relaxed. We played the board games they have to offer which also made for a relaxing time. I enjoyed a sample flight of their ciders and I also got to customize it, if the ones on their list wasn't ones I wanted to try. I'll be back! read more

Many festive options but the Hot toddy chai drink is my go to and never fails to be exactly what you need on a cold day shopping around the Barlow. Familiarity with the excellent Golden State Cider brand lived up to my expectations of their tap room. Faced with choosing from between the many outstanding ciders on tap, I gave up and focused on a relatively short list of GSC brandy-based cocktails on offer. I went with the La Pomme, an alchemistic combination of GSC's own pommeau, concord grape-lime shrub, fresh lime, and their epic Unfiltered cider on ice. All about Apple Cider! Did you know that the first recorded references to cider go back to Julius Caesar's time? That's right! Julius Caesar saw the Celtic Britons use crabapples to ferment cider. Apple cider made its way to America a few years after the European colonists landed in Plymouth in 1620. They even gave diluted cider to their kids! But then came the Industrial Revolution, which made people abandon their farms and move to the cities. Prohibition in the early 1900s helped wipe cider from American memories. Fortunately, the tradition was kept alive by a few local farmers and enthusiasts. However, there has been a resurgent interest in cider-making in the last couple of decades. In fact, cider is now one of the fastest-growing areas of the liquor industry. One of the most popular cideries in California is Golden State Cider. It was founded in 2012 by Jolie Devoto and Hunter Wade at Devoto Orchards in Sebastopol (north of San Francisco). In 2022, they sold the company to Chris Jackson. The Golden State Cider Taproom is located on Morris Street in The Barlow. It's a nice open space with indoor and outdoor seating. They offer a good variety of cider and food choices. We recently visited the Taproom and tried various cider flights. I'm a rookie in apple cider, but I liked Gingergras and Arkansas Black more than others. They were all delicious, however! Just be warned that these ciders are not for the faint of heart. They contain about 7% alcohol. So, if you're planning on driving, keep going. And if you do, take a nice long walk around The Barlow before you get behind the wheel! read more

My boyfriend and I decided to come here randomly while driving down from our getaway. I've always enjoyed drinking golden state cider but never have I gone to one of their locations. This one in Sebastianpol was nice, there was live music, pie competitions and free popcorn. We sat outside since it was a nice day. The waitresses here are very try polite. I ordered 2 drinks and she remembered my face as I went to get my second drink. My boyfriend got a cider smoothie and I ordered 2 different ciders to try. They even sell ciders in packs at this location. It does get busy but it's a nice experience. There's plenty of food spots around. We grabbed pizza from right across golden state cider. They do have food trucks but I'm not sure how often it comes. read more
Been here a few times and have enjoyed each visit. Great indoor and outdoor space. Had a musician singing when we came this time. You can order food from the area eateries from the table via QR code. Love many of their codes and went home with a 6 pack of the pineapple (tropical paradise) one. Yum! Service is friendly. read more
For someone that doesn't like cider this place is pretty good. I ordered the cidermosa which is their take on a mimosa and it tasted exactly like a mimosa. The atmosphere is really good. They were playing the 49ers game on the Sunday that we were there and the staff was very welcoming and nice. An extra plus is that they allow you to order food from the Barlow which we ordered acre pizza and they bring it to you. I'll definitely be back to try their other flavors. read more

There is seating both inside and outside. They are right next to a sushi place which looked tempting. Trying hard to stay near my keto diet, I chose the "Brut" cider which was quite dry and almost champagne-like. Zero grams of sugar so it was tasty and I enjoyed it. 4/29/23 Saturday: loved talking to the staff. I got to learn that two of the main ones are in New York/ east coast, the harvest ones are in California. I recommend talking to them and learning about this popular canned cider. I got the one with a hint of pineapple. I tasted it before choosing this one. I like hanging here but for a quick stop like 30 mins before moving along elsewhere. read more
