I haven't heard or had anything from ACE cider until very recently. I always love discovering this when it comes to trying out new cideries or breweries. It's what definitely keeps my interest going. For ACE I had their Joker dry cider. What makes up this cider is double fermented apple juice made with champagne yeast. This creates a sparkling cider with a dry, clean taste. They let you mix and match a 6pk for $10 too if you want to take some home. The place isn't extremely big, but there weren't many people when I went anyway. ACE, I finally found you! Ignore your GPS, for it tells lies. The address listed here on yelp is correct. My GPS tried for 3000 something Gravenstein Hwy N, and that was quite incorrect. Luckily my companion was seasoned traveler and fellow cider lover Regina W., who was able to re-route us successfully. This place is open 1-5 pm Fridays only, from the horse's mouth, not their website, which still needs to be updated from 2-5. They're hoping to expand soon, so that is very exciting news to fans here in Sacramento. I first heard about Ace from a good friend that used to go to the first Ace in the Hole while he was at Sonoma State University. I became hooked on the perry cider and the Joker soon after, and the rest is history. It's still one of my favorite cider brands. Try the sampler! We got to try 10 ciders for $10 on our last trip here, including some seasonals. I had never even heard of Space before, aka the Bloody Orange Cider. Yum! Such a great experience! A group of 6 went to celebrate my husbands birthday as part of a ciderie tour. The owner was hanging out and greeted us with open arms. We got samples of all 11 the ciders and had fun trying them all. Outside is partially covered with pool tables, and a live pianist playing inside that can be heard from outside. Great hard cider! The tasting for $12 includes 9 tastings of cider on draft. They are served on a tray with the names of each one. They also offer cider by the glass, growler, keg, or for purchase. Cons: Only open Friday. The service was mediocre. She was friendly if asked questions, but it was not the normal tasting experience. She was also not too knowledgeable. It was very hot inside and they didn't offer fans. I would sit outside but then you can't talk to the server. There is no tasting room sign once you enter the parking lot. The facility is actually production for many other wineries. Please install a sign with an arrow. The tasting room is hidden on the far back side of the facility. You will see lots of cars, but 95% are employees. So you will have to park further away. read more

Was super excited to try this place, in Sebastopol for the weekend celebrating my Bestie's birthday and decided to stop here on the way to our air bnb. We got the taster of everything and it was awesome, the ciders were delicious. However, I have awful allergies and we were sitting inside a tent with three members of the staff who were smoking cigarettes. The lack of air flow with the cigarette smoke really messed with me and when I mentioned it I just didn't get he response I was hoping for. The third star is for the handsome employee you originally helped us and moved a table so that we didn't have to be near the smoke. read more

Saw a bottle of this pear-flavored hard cider on the shelf of my local Whole Foods market and decided to give it a try. Very nice ambience. Like a nice pub. -Pay attention to the hours they are open, as these are not always what you might expect. - They are one of the early cider makers. So they have a lot of experience. Gravenstein apples have been a major crop in this area for over 100 years. I'd like to see them branch out into different types of cider. In particular, the ciders which have a vinegar note (sounds odd but they are delicious). The Basques do a great job at this. read more

::gasp:: I am SHOCKED there are no reviews for the best cider company in the USA. I LOVE ACE. Ace makes a variety of amazing ciders that are all smooth to drink. You can make your own combo flavors too by mixing them together. My favorite is mixing the perry cider with the apple. NOM. Ace is a fun place to visit when they're open (only on Fridays from 2-5pm) with plenty of cool stuff on the walls to admire and friendly employees to talk to. Ace is also the reason why I love to go to Lagunitas Brewery Skunk Train event every September because they have their cider at the picnic grounds the day of the train. Honestly... I only drank about an ounce of Lagunitas and focused my attention on ACE. I also am a big fan of their staff they have at beer festivals, they're always so awesome! I wish they were open more often but hey, three hours is better than none! Plus, you can make a day trip out of Sebastopol, there are plenty of cool things to visit in that awesome town! I met Jeffrey House, the visionary of Ace Hard Ciders, back in the early 2000s when Ace was no more than a simple cider pub -- the very first American cider pub -- at the corner of Graton Rd. and Hwy 116. I just happened to be in Stadium Thriftway this afternoon picking up a six pack of Ace pineapple hard cider and was extolling its virtues to an employee when I just happened to run into two very pleasant employees from Ace itself. A truly happy accident/coincidence. They were pleased, as they stated, to run into somebody just happening to be buying their product and overhear me commenting on what a great beverage it is. They were pleased, I was pleased and I was even more pleased when I got home and cracked open a bottle and poured it over ice. Sought out the tucked away pub and was pretty surprised at what we found. I imagined a sort of pop up patio behind the cidery, and while there is a patio, this place is a lot more than that. The inside bar is dark and cozy, with a stage and quite a set up for music - we were treated to someone performing for a portion of our stay. The outside areas (including pool table) were larger than I had imagined as well. Overall, the vibe is kind of like if you were to notice that your neighbor had set up a full pub in his garage, and you sauntered in to try to get a drink hoping it's okay and no one will kick you out. I'm sure "first timers" like us stand out like sore thumbs, and we didn't feel exactly welcomed - I'm sure this is one of those places that the people who already know about, don't want anyone else finding out about. The bartender was friendly though, and I suppose she's the only one that matters. No mind - we nabbed a seat outside in the shade, and each had a flight of ciders (so much fun for the bartender to have to wash that many tiny glasses all the time, I'm sure), and I was quite surprised. Some of the ciders I thought I would not be interested in at all were my favorites; while some of the old stand bys (looking at you pear), reminded me of my (legal drinking age) youth. What a fun little place! Sad for working stiffs they are only open Fridays 2 - 5. Tried to go Weds because Yelp said they were open, also, if your GPS brings you in from the north entrance, you have to drive around a little to find it. That said - great variety of ciders. Do the sampler. Ones you think you won't like (pumpkin) are surprisingly good. Pear, pineapple, sweet, tart - there is something for everyone. I have always liked cider. Back in the mid eighties, I used to buy Woodpecker Cider at a local liquor store in Concord, CA, but the store closed and Woodpecker, now owned by Bulmers, is no longer available in this area. I have drunk many ciders, lots locally from Liquor stores and at bars, as well as in numerous pubs in England, and several different Cidres in France. I even tried Stella Artois' offering recently (not all that great), in my years long search for the perfect (for me) hard cider. Finally, I have found it. Even though it may seem a bit pompous when they advertise themselves as "America's Best" on their web page, in reality, it is absolutely true. Ace Cider is simply the best Cider I have ever tasted, anywhere, anytime, any place. It is perfect. Period. My own favorite is their basic apple cider, followed by Joker, which is their dry version of apple cider. I find the others, Pumpkin, Pear and Berry all delicious, but a little too sweet for my own taste. The Ace Apple Cider is exactly what I have been looking for in a Hard Cider. It has some sweetness, but not too much. It has some bitterness to the aftertaste, but pretty much exactly the right amount. The color is divine.... it is truly beautiful to contemplate the look of the stuff before you take that first mouthful... a lovely pale gold color, not the horse piss yellow color of your typical British Cider. Ace Cider seems to me to be about subtlety and finesse. Even the carbonation is subtle, just enough to tickle your palate and no more. After having discovered this nectar, I felt compelled to visit the place where it is made, and an opportunity presented itself a couple Fridays ago when I was going to be heading to a Blacksmithing Conference in an obscure part of California between Cazadero and Gualala. With just a bit of side tracking, Ace Cidery was on the route. I had contacted the place via email in advance to make sure it was going to be open, and someone named Jeffery assured me that if I showed up at noon (normally open at 2:00 p.m. which was too late for my schedule) that he would serve me personally. As it turned out, someone-named-Jeffery was actually Jeffery House, the President and owner of Ace and he did indeed serve me personally and spent an hour with me talking about his ciders, the history of himself and his business and whatever else came up in conversation. It was a truly wonderful experience. If you like cider, I would highly recommend visiting Jeff's facility, even though there is not really a great deal to look at there. Aside from the pleasure of meeting Jeffery himself, it is worth a visit just for the smell of the place. The cidery smells wonderful, even when sitting in the tap room. Out in the huge room where the cider is fermented, the fragrance is heavenly, apple and yeast and alcohol.... I'd go back just for the smell. I was able to try the full range of his ciders and to purchase a case to take with me to the conference, where I used it to turn others on to this fantastic drink. As it turned out, one of the experts demonstrating at the conference was British and I made sure I game him a bottle too. I love this stuff. I just bought another case at my local liquor store this evening. I hope you readers will give it a try and enjoy it as much as I do. I can assure you, you will not find any other cider that tastes like this stuff. It is unique. read more

Everyone was very friendly, despite us getting there late because of traffic. My fiancé and I both got a flight; we loved it. We sat on the patio with our dog and baby. It was a great experience. I was here for the 1st time in years last month. It hasn't changed too much, but now there are 8 ciders on tap, & 1 overpriced wine for the wino's. $5 pints or a glass, for the 1 all- Gravenstein 9%. The piano player couldn't sing, & smoked cigarettes in the next room on his break, instead of sitting outside on the patio, so the smoke blew into the barroom. The British background music from the radio {classic rock] was much better than the pseudo entertainment. I don't like fruit flavored beers or ciders, so I stuck with the dry ones. They used to have draft beer here years ago, but not now. There was complimentary cheddar cheese & saltines on a cheeseboard, which was nice. Altogether, this place is just fine for what it is, if that's all you want. I do miss the old Ace Cider Pub. This place doesn't hold a candle to the original one at 116 & Graton Rd, there for 10 years. Too bad this tasting room isn't open from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon instead. read more

All of my girlfriends refuse to go here because the owner assaults them. I continued to go myself for some time, but was not only assaulted by the owner but then asked not to come by his wife. Another friend tells me she had the same experience here, where she was ostracized for his inappropriate behavior. Nobody in the place will protect you. Don't go, but if you must, bring your own bodyguard. I affectionately have deemed it, ' The Misogyny Club.' I don't recommend supporting this business in any way.
