Giving The Publican another try after a disappointing visit last year, and unfortunately things have not improved. I ordered the crab benedict with a side of potatoes. The potatoes and crab were dark and gummy, and everything had that unmistakable taste of being cooked in old, overused grease. The egg was supposed to be poached but was actually a medium hard-boiled egg with hollandaise on top -- not even close to what a benedict should be. To add to the frustration, I was overcharged for my mimosa. Another server confirmed the overcharge and said it was "probably just a mistake," but dining alone as a POC, I couldn't help but feel like it may not have been accidental. Last Father's Day, my husband ordered an omelet here and it came with canned mushrooms -- always a sign that a restaurant is cutting corners. Two visits and the same story both times: the quality just isn't there. I won't be returning. read more

Amazing pretzel bites, frickles, sliders, and burgers. It is a normal bar and it definitely has great staff that are very friendly. It is sometimes noisy and sometimes loud and I definitely recommend to go on game days. Amazing Arnold Palmers!! read more

What a great local bar in the cute town of Windsor. Came in on a Sunday morning and boy was it packed. Unfortunately we had to sit out on the patio on a rainy day. If only they had more heat lamps to keep customers warm. BUT, the staff was super nice and accommodating in helping to keep us warm. One even went as far to provide a warm jacket. The bar and restaurant was as one would expect during football season! It was hopping and the staff was doing their best to tend to the customers! Unfortunately the food took longer than expected (the waitress was very apologetic) but once it came....OMG, it was absolutely delicious. We oredered the chicken waffle sliders. The chicken was tender and simply amazing. The loco moco was perfect...as were the huevos rancheros and the tacos!! We'll definitely be back when we're back in town in a couple of months! read more

The drinks are strong, good service and it smells like fish and chips as you walk in the door. Very much traditional pub in that way. We also got some wings, freckles and green beans. Pretty much tasted a lot like Cisco stuff... I think it goes a long ways if you do your own beer, batter and fry. I love a good pub so I would definitely be back. read more

Guess what? It's a PUB! :) Old school, traditional, nothing fancy - just a cool little pub with some solid drink options and good service. We stopped in for a drink before our dinner reservation and got our orders in quickly and without issue. They were pretty busy and I was pleasantly surprised. Second time here and much better time, took smart train in and town green is right there! The place is decorated nicely with sports memorabilia and decent size bar and tables. The bartender (older gentleman) was super nice and a Giants fan, a plus! We sat at bar again and ordered nachos (great chips), great prices on everyday happy hour, deducted a star because bar seating was comfy and all, but wish they had more high back barstools and one single bathroom is not enough for us females haha, maybe if they turned both bathrooms into shared? read more

Service and food was good. I know it is a pub but it is a small restaurant so the noise level is high.

Called in an order on my lunch break a male answered and put me on hold, or simply just put the phone down because I could hear people talking. After waiting 15 minutes, my co worker actually drove down and put in the order. Guess what?? I was still on hold and heard him put in the order. So we finally get the food the fish and chips was ok, and I'm not sure about the chips part being that I only received a hand full of chips. I took one whiff of the coleslaw and it smelt rancid. The burger that ordered had no condiments on it and was obviously bland. I will absolutely never order from here again. read more

Good happy hour bar and casual pub food type restaurant. We only had happy hour snacks so can't really rate the food but it looked pretty good from what I saw. The prices for the happy hour were very good and I would recommend it. The only downside to our visit is that it gets very noisy inside and conversation is very difficult. Our six pack of friends had the best time ever at this pub. Service was great, food was exceptional, and nobody was disappointed. The Thursday Night Football crowd was enthusiastic but never rowdy, and views of the multitude of TVs surrounded us everywhere. We highly recommend this fine establishment! read more

This place is very pubby. We got there an hour before the weekly trivia game and it was already so loud people were screaming at each other. We had a sourdough burger with the optional very good curry chicken soup, one beer and a BBQ chicken salad. $ 45.98 plus tax and tip. The trivia game was fun and the MC and his music were loud. We came here for "dessert" after a great lunch nearby, and just wanted a cool draft and some quality chillaxin' time! The outdoor seating called to us, but it was rather noisy - actually, a lot of "big &@%#$" trucks driving up and down the street were the noise!! Many more than I expected . . . However, it was nicer outside than inside on this very warm day. The service was prompt and professional, and friendly (cashier was "Megatron"! If this IS really you, thanks for the great service! ) We ordered a couple of the Citrus Wheat, and I opted for a beer with - wait for it - FLAVOR!! It came in the form of a dark brew, the Barrel Brothers. It was thick, chocolatey and bitter - the way I love it! We also ordered some Frickles - fried pickle slices, which came with Ranch on side and were deliciously hot and perfectly breaded and fried. And a good serving size as well (went alllll the way to the bottom of the basket!). Overall, a great dessert - who needs milkshakes when you have drafts and frickles! LOL read more

Went in to celebrate my birthday with about six other people. Meghan was the waitress who walked by several times, looked at us, but ignored us. My husband tried to wave her down and she kept walking, my daughter who had gotten their prior to us, said she walked right past her, but went to her husband and took his order who was at a different table. Not cool and when I asked for a menu when she was standing right in front of them pointed so I could grab it. At one point stated she was getting ready to leave, but yet two other tables came in and she got their drinks. No problem. My husband had to go up to the bar to ask for an order of nachos which she then told us they didn't have any. She helped somebody for about another 30 minutes. If it wasn't for Tammy, we would've never got our drinks. Not to mention she was tending a full bar. She is always attentive no matter how busy she always helps. I asked Megan for a soda for my mom and really she asked what kind. Honestly, I feel like she didn't think we were gonna tip, or if it is a race issue and with that type of service no matter how big my bill was I would've gave her a flat 0 you don't treat people like that picking and choosing who you wanna serve rude and disrespectful. I'm sure I'm not the first person she's treated that way because I did speak to someone who was there very often and he said that she does the same thing to them. read more

Ah the Publican. Gotta love this place. We usually go for trivia. The food is great! We rotate between burgers soups and trying all the apps. The only one we haven't liked so far were the pretzel bites. Everything was salty. But overall their fries are always great! I think they make their own ranch too which is always delicious! I've gone to brunch a few times as well and enjoyed the food. A place like this you'd expect good gravy and it did not disappoint. Servers are always nice and attentive. I have eaten here many times and have been very pleased every time. The manager, Barry, is fantastic and always aims to please. Tami is also very friendly and always greets her guests with a smile. I am particularly fond of their fish and chips and always ask to swap the chips for their house made chips, which are amazing. We used to love this place and have been coming here for years. We moved out of the area a few years ago and were super excited to come back here. This was our first time back in a while. What happened?? Unfortunately it's not what it once was. The food was honestly some of the worst we've ever had. My husband and I were starving and ordered the nachos and taquitos. The nachos were ok, but we're covered in jalapeños and had hardly any cheese. The taquitos tasted burnt. Hubby ordered the sourdough burger with waffle fries and I had the pub burger with half garlic fries and half frickles. We ordered our burgers medium and medium rare. Extra well done would have been an understatement for how they arrived. My garlic fries were literally coated in oil, as were frickles. I used my napkin to try and soak up some of the grease and oil on my plate from the frickles because I was starving. The garlic fries are just regular fries with a dab of Parmesan cheese and then covered in garlic oil. I tried a couple but I couldn't even eat them. Both burgers were awful. Way over cooked, super thin, super greasy. My husband said the waffle fries tasted like Carl's Jr. and the bottom of his burger was so soaked through with grease he didn't even eat half of it. Mine wasn't any better. Personally I would have preferred a burger from McDonalds - and this is coming from someone who has eaten at McDonalds in the past 20 years because I'd rather go hungry. The beer selection was also disappointing. We're not IPA or hoppy people. The only dark beer or ale they had that wasn't hoppy was a Guinness. My husband and really should have just walked out, but we were so hungry we ate our burgers, paid our $80 tab and left feeling hungry and slightly sick. We both had severe heartburn all night from the grease. Also, what about this pub makes it Irish? The only Irish beer is Guinness. None of the food is Irish anymore. We keep wanting the food to get better. Please please you are so close. We will keep trying. Service is great and drinks are good. Food is good but a few adjustments and we will be coming more often as we did under the previous name. Wife and I both ordered the fish and chips. They were ok. My fiance and I come here to treat ourselves every now and then by indulging in their Chicken and Waffles! Absolutely DELICIOUS. The chicken has the perfect crunchy shell with tender meat on the inside. They use some spices in their dredge for the chicken and it's not too hot or too spicy, just has a nice warmth to it. They also include a little bit of gravy on the side which is absolutely tasty. The waffles are also well executed, crispy edges with a fluffy center. I personally like to put some hot sauce on this dish but otherwise it is very yummy on it's own and very filling. With our work schedules we usually go on weekends, typically a Sunday morning. They also have discounted mimosas! (About $5 I believe.) We try to get there pretty early around 10am, because it being the weekend/brunch hours, it gets crowded pretty fast. That being said, the reason I am only giving this place 4 stars is the service. Waitresses are great; they're sweet, friendly, and accommodating, but when that brunch crowd hits service gets really slow. It's not the waitress' fault, there is sadly only 1-2 girls working at this time and they just cannot keep up with a crowd like that. So this turns into waiting for the check for several minutes, then waiting another several for them to pick up your payment, and yet another for getting your receipt. It has been like this during each time we've been in, so hopefully management can hire another server during this busy time. Will however be back again! read more

Only gets two stars because they have Guinness on tap. The meat patty on the sliders was so thin and overcooked that you couldn't even taste the meat. Overcooked frickles and only 7 of them with the sliders and they charge an up charge for them. Pretty weak. This place needs a complete makeover. I had such high hopes being that the owners of Kin and KinSmoke bought this place. Great beer selection. Solid happy hour. BAD food. They had Born Yesterday on tap, which is my favorite lagunitas beer. That accounts for two of the given stars. The service, from an effort standpoint, was great. I can't for the life of me remember her name, but she was working very hard, by herself. She had the entire floor, at 6pm. This is the other star. The food we had was just not good. I had the Cali club sandwich, which was ok. My wife had the fajita salad. It was soggy and blah. We both left disappointed. I will return for beers, but probably not food.
