Quinoa salad and Salmon
Cliff N.

Service was top shelf a the food was outstanding! I had the Quinoa salad with butternut squash, cranberries and salmon , which was a large serving and enough for two people. It's one of the best salads I've had recently! The outdoor seating is costed now for winter a not too to cold but sunny and easy pleasantly relaxing, the bar was not too loud for quiet conversations on the patio. The entrance an parking are in the back and not on Broadway aka Hiway 12 that leads you to the town square in Sonoma. The only needed improvement to become a 5 star eatery and pub is to expand the bathroom beyond a single stall and toilet for a location of this size. Great menu and beer selection, to include Death and Taxes !

Really impressed with this place! On my last day in Sonoma I took a walk towards the square and passed HopMonk along the way so decided to stop by for a late lunch! Grabbed a table on their outside patio and although it was warm, there was plenty of shade! Service was fast and friendly and it turned out it was happy hour so enjoyed $10 fish tacos that were pretty great and very fresh! Incredible deal for the serving! Also enjoyed a fantastic grilled artichoke! Washed it all down with a Pliny because I cannot get that back home and it was a great meal before heading back to SFO! Very impressed!

Stopped in for an afternoon drink and snack with some family. The space is somewhat beer garden-esque. Most of the patio is covered, with a hodgepodge of umbrellas and canopies. The grilled artichoke I ate was just ok. Good flavor, but a bit overcooked and I didn't love the dipping sauce. I had a glass of wine and it too was just ok- I was with beer drinkers and they didn't love their selections either. Service was prompt and for the area nothing seemed to be ridiculously expensive, so that's a plus.

We took a day trip to Sonoma to take our little to Train town. We stopped in for a late lunch before we headed back home. We sat on the deck in the patio area since the weather was nice. The outdoor is beautiful and they have a ton of shade options. My little of course picked the Mac and cheese. My husband and I chose an item off of the special menu. With our entrees we had the chose of 3 different types of fries or salad. My husband picked garlic fries and I did sweet potato. When my plate arrived I was surprised to find sweet potato waffle fries. They were perfectly seasoned and fried. My grilled chicken sandwich had fresh mozzarella and pesto mayo. The service was great and we didn't wait too long for our food to be served. I highly recommend stopping here. I know we will next time we are I. The area.

Well..I had hoped for the best and acquired worse. Parking ..they have a parking lot or street parking We were seated inside...and our wooden table top was grimy and blah. The waitress was kind... unfortunately, she would ask a question, start to receive an answer from us and walk away quickly. I felt like I was I an SNL skit. It was very odd. Our food was okay ..my fish and chips were actually good, crisp, fresh and tasty.( thus the two star rating--otherwise maybe a one star) My wife's chicken sandwich...was advertised with cheese and dressing of which there were none and sweet potato fries were overdone and almost burnt. It was late and were not in the mood to re-order or wait for a correction . My cocktail tasted watered down and the wine was okay. Anyways ..appetizers with friends is probably okay, anything else beware. We would probably not go back .

We dined in and were seated outside. Our service was very slow and sporadic but the grilled cheese was absolutely incredible.

Penne Pasta special

Stopped by on our way home for a beer. Very good selection. The helpful bartender let me taste a couple to decide what to have. As we comfortably watched the NLDS at the bar, we decided to have dinner. I ordered the seared salmon on thin linguine in a cream sauce with (too many) sun-dried tomatoes and Kalamata olives (would skip these) from the menu. Delicious with a capital D. The salmon was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this dish. Hubby ordered the penne pasta with chicken, cherry tomato, shallot, pesto and parm from the special menu. Hearty but nothing special. Chicken was a tad dry. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty but really doesn't match the price. He said he enjoyed it tho. The couple next to us had the quinoa salad and thought it was amazing. Her guy had the curry dinner and said it was OK. Bartender was attentive and cheerful. We enjoyed ourselves, good vibe. We'll be back.

Chicken Philly on Naan

It's funny how I chose this spot again while visiting Sonoma, having completely forgotten I'd eaten here before. When I sat down at the restaurant, I had pulled up Yelp and saw my past review. I'm happy to saw this place is still as good as it was when I visited 5 years ago! We were coming from a day of wine tastings and needed something bready to fill us up. We split the chicken cheesesteak that was served on a naan type bread and pickle fries. Both were really good, but the pickle fries were little fried spears. They were delicious and I'd definitely order them again. We were seated outside and it was a chilly afternoon, but they did have ample heaters. I'd definitely recommend this spot for some solid food while in Sonoma.

Smash Burger

After our tour of the winery, we'd worked up an appetite and stopped in here to grab a bite to eat. We were able to be seated in the outside eating area. We opted to order multiple items to share: Chicken Wings, Loaded Tavern Fries and the Smash Burger with Field Greens. Everything was fresh and flavorful! Our server was very pleasant and provided excellent service. Highly recommended if in the area!

Veggie Sandwich

This is our go to restaurant whenever we're in Sonoma. The Korean cauliflower appetizer is my favorite. So crispy and succulent. We ordered the fish and chips, grilled veggie sandwich, and smash burger. Enjoyed our food outdoors on a beautiful June day. Must try!

Nashville hot chicken sandwich

Good food and good service! The Nashville hot chicken sandwich is definitely worth trying, crispy, hot and spicy! The fish and chips are also a good choice....

Tried to avoid writing this review since Hopmonk was probably my favorite local spots of all time. I used to come almost every week, the food was and still is amazing quality. The main difference I have seen is the quality of the service. The last 4-5 times I have come here service is lacking. They always miss something- food or a drink and it always takes them FOREVER to take your order now. After the food is dropped off you're lucky if you're checked on- recently I have had to find someone to help me pay my bill. The last time I went was the final straw. We were there for 1.5 hours after ordering one drink, two appetizers, and an entree due to how slow the service was. I don't know if they're under new ownership or what happened, it's really disappointing but I probably won't be returning.... at least for a while.

Sparkling wine was nice

Chicken sandwich is off the charts! Perfectly seasoned and crispy, this sandwich sets the standard. Worth it to come here just for this!

Awkward entrance and menu. Pulled up but couldn't get in. Knocked on the door but they apparently don't care. I'd say, not recommended.

Have had many meals a the Sonoma location as a guest of my niece. It was consistently mediocre and pricey, imho.

Sure I was interested in some food but it was also a football Sunday and I wanted a cold frosty beer to celebrate my hike and the start of my roadtrip. I don't do strict planning when it comes to eating and drinking. I often find it more intriguing when serendipity plays a hand. I'm walking down this town's main retail square, insured something was within reach. I pass by this unassuming dive bar with no signage but very well laid out inside. It was surprisingly quiet for a weekend afternoon in a touristy spot. Friendly bartender asked me what I wanted. But I ask first if I could get our local football game on and if they served food. Game yes said it would be on within minutes. Food unfortunately no but there were tons of options outside the door. Ordered a cold lager on tap from the east coast. The lager was light cold and refreshing. I think I finished it within minutes. Tender was quick to ask for a refill, love that. I next get a beer refill, and a Jameson on the rocks to quietly sip on, as I was now committed to watching the first half there. Very impressive glass and pour on the Irish whisky. I take a few sips but finish my beer, but this time much longer to down as I wasn't so parched now. I sip the rest of the whisky but now well diluted from the cold ice, which makes it so much more smooth to me. It opens the spirit, takes away the heat and blooms the flavors. My second round took over an hour. Then halftime hits in the game with a close score, even though my team did not look good. I tell the bartender that I'll close out to look for some lunch. By this time the bar was filling up. 3 perfectly timed drinks for well under $10 bucks a pop just sent me on my long weekend on a sweet note. I found food around the corner where they had a tv and I was able to watch the remaining of the game there. If no TVs were found, I would have gone back to the bar to finish the game. I was still pleased with my short experience there. Small town watering hole encapsulated.

Don't laugh but after I wrote this we went back in the morning, yes morning. They open at 6:30am! We made it there more like 9:00am and had Irish Coffee and Lagunitas Willellised Coffee (13.1%!). Watched a bit of the Drew Barrymore Show and chatted with the locals sitting alongside us at the bar.

My goto dinner spot in Sonoma…read more I actually have been here multiple times and I don't know what has taken me so long to post a review but the Girl and the Fig is definitely the truth. When you enter you'll notice a more homey decor to the place. Warm colors all around and even warmer service once you sit down. Every single experience Ive had here is been nothing less of 110%. Theres always this good balance professionalism with lightheartedness that pair so well for the atmosphere. Because at its core this restaurant is high scale. It definitely has that higher scale vibe but if never comes off as pretentious though. This particular I took my wifey here for our 10th year anniversary together. And we were greeting by a nice little card from the "Fig Family." We ended up trying the Seared Halloumi and I was shocked at how much I liked it. Very light flavors but still enough variety with the crispy spigarello and pine nuts to keep things fun. The lemon never feels too overwhelming. For mains my wife got the Mushroom RisottoI think? Or maybe it was Butternut Squash Risotto? I got the Fig Burger and both were amazing. The only reason I didn't get her Risotto was simply because I already had it at lunch time, but that still didn't stop me from taking a bite. Each rice like grain had a perfect chew and flavor to each bite. Even being the picky person that I am with veggies, I appreciated the veggies addition to the dish. I still think though that the sure winner was my Fig Burger. This burger is everything we wish our local breweries burger was. A harmonic balance between salty and sweet. Im down to get a little crazy with burgers but if it's too sweet, it kinda loses the appeal for me. It takes away too much from the burgers roots. So yea. Go here. Make reservations too. I know for myself I made mine about a month in advance so it's hard to say how hard it is to get a table here. But hopefully it's not too bad. Parking by the way is just street parking. Despite that Ive always been able to get a park on W Spain St right before I pull up to the restaurant. OH! And thanks again Girl and the Fig family! You made the end to our anniversary quite magical!
