First time here. The BEST French toast in the world!! Great service too! And they have a full bar. We wish they would stay open later.

Benicia is open from 7am to 8pm for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's informal and conveniently located off the lobby. I only got to try it for breakfast. It was crowded and LOUD. Somehow the ceiling seems to amplify the sound. There were lots of servers and the ones we interacted with were quite nice but they were overwhelmed. Guacamole Toast: generous amount of avocado and a good kick from the chipotle cream and pickled shallots. The bread didn't quite work for me. Steel Cut Oats: quinoa with apples and cranberries. Benicia's Kitchen serves up some of the best hotel breakfast I've ever had. The highlights were the bread pudding french toast and smoked fish and bagel platter. My toddler and the adults who ate her leftovers enjoyed the oatmeal and açaí yogurt bowls. I would not get the chicken apple sausage again. For dinner, we ordered the chicken caesar salad, pork chop, and mushroom cavatelli. The chicken in the salad and the accompaniments for the pork chop were well seasoned. The pasta was bland. We had a nice relaxing afternoon yesterday. The vibes are upscale, the food was good. We both got the eggs Benedict and we shared a bottle of champagne. We also got the cheesecake for dessert. The service was good. It was a rainy Sunday and not busy so the bartender was taking care of the entire restaurant. He was attentive. The atmosphere is relaxed. I made a reservation on open table, but we didn't need it, there was plenty of seating. The total bill was $130 for two people. The restaurant is inside the Lodge at Sonoma Resort. I will come back! We had breakfast while staying the weekend to celebrate a couple of birthdays. I highly recommend the lodge breakfast with chicken apple sausage. Their Carneros bread pudding French toast was a hit at the table and we all agreed that the coffee was very tasty. 3.5 Stars. Benicia's Kitchen is a great place to grab breakfast. There is plenty of seating and we went during the slow season in Sonoma so it was not very packed. I loved the decor and the relaxed vibe. While it was not the most outstanding breakfast I have ever had, it did leave me satisfied. The waffles were a great texture and were accompanied with caramelized apples that were the perfect amount of sweetness. The side of bacon was a generous serving for a side. Arrived at the attached hotel starving on a Sunday late afternoon. As the restaurant is right off the lobby, sitting down for a meal was the clear choice. The space is airy and light, and I was seated promptly. Oddly, who let the hotel was busy, there was only one other table occupied in the dining area. I did order a cocktail, and the cherry gin sour was great. As I said I was starving, so I smacked on the truffle fries (crispy and light) and shishito pepper (tasty but a bit oily and heavy) before enjoying the farmer's salad for dinner. Loved the shaved vegetables in it, and the portion was generous so I had no hope of finishing. I look forward to trying break there in the next couple of days. read more

First off the hotel is WONDERFUL Our favorite hotel thus far Usually we're not a fan of hotel restaurants but we had to check them out. RAUL was VERY VERY nice. Great service, great convo, & a great vibe- Also gave us good recommendations which we appreciated Steak & eggs were a generous portion that came out fairly quickly- Love the chimichurri & the grilled onions Breakfast potatoes were PERFECT Steak & eggs were both not seasoned ): but that was the only bad thing we experienced! everything else made up for it. We ate at Benicia's three times while staying at the Lodge at Sonoma. The wait staff was excellent and kind. The food was well-prepared and delicious. Being there over Thanksgiving, some of the offerings were unique. It is a nice setting, but small and fills up quickly at times. Breakfast: They bring a complimentary little bowl of fruit, which is nice. Chilaquiles are fine, but come with carne in the sauce, which we didn't realize. The bread pudding French toast is very good, no complaints, except for maybe the calorie count. Eggs Benedict are okay, but I ordered it with the smoked salmon and it was way too salty. The English muffins are exceptional. The sourdough toast was also good and the French butter served with it is extraordinary. The omelette with spinach and goat cheese was large but not a stand out, a bit dry. Dinner: Excellent kale salad with butternut squash purée. Blistered shishito peppers were the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. Worth a visit if are the resort. read more

I don't know if it's because we came in during a rush or we were hungry but despite being seated quickly, service was a bit slow. Despite that, we really enjoyed our meal. I had steak and eggs (pictured) but I wasn't expecting so much meat! It was a little overwhelming but definitely filling. My mom had avocado toast with smoked salmon (an added cost) but she (and my sister) were fans. My biggest recommendation is read the menu thoroughly, my dad was expecting a lot of stuff to come with his meal but didn't realize that some things were optional and the waiter didn't clarify. Perhaps I was really hungry and wanted a good breakfast but I was pleasantly pleased with what we ordered. I grabbed takeout since we were staying at the lodge and ate at the comforts of our room. Although I think you can order through a QR code and they can deliver it straight up! (its okay, it was nice to get out and about.) We tried the guacamole toast - yummy! I got it with smoked salmon. great balance of textures and flavors. the corn flake french toast with a side of bacon - I was surprised it was good! Well cooked and not soggy. Been here a few times when staying at the Lodge. If you're Marriott Platinum the breakfast certificate is a very good value as you can basically get anything you want here at no charge except gratuity. The generous credit is a $60 value for two people. The breakfast food is actually really innovative and quite good. Only issue here is service which is spotty. This time we shared the Chillaquiles ($21) and the French Toast with Bacon ($24) The coffee at $8 seemed a bit high. If I was paying out of pocket we probably would have skipped coffee and the bacon which would have reduced the cost to under $40 which seems reasonable for a nice brunch place these days. read more

We came here for the Xmas lunch buffet. Was so surprised they have unlimited supply of fresh opened oysters that tasted fantastic. Other than that the fresh mushrooms farm to table style and the mushroom soup were really good. Other things on the menu wasn't as good but they did have roast beef, seafood cold plate, salad bar and dessert. Not bad for the price. The chilaquiles was excellent. We had it 2 consecutive mornings. Most staff was attentive, except for one rude employee who talked on his phone while serving patrons. Well we needed to take a drive today and buy some patio furniture we saw online and you know what that means? YUP! Going to have to find a new place to try..lol..Any good opportunity.. We were immediately greeted and seated at a comfy table. The restaurant is really nice..We got some water and coffee, yay! I needed it...My food was Birria breakfast tacos.. My guy had Chilequiles... Everyone was nice, the restaurant was about to transition to lunch so it was pretty quiet. I think mostly hotel guests eat here as they thought we were guests from the hotel.. So our food came and it looked really really good! I took a bite of my taco, loaded with meat and pickled onions also the best green sauce, and goodies like that scrambled eggs, I busted out loud with a OMG THAT IS SOOO GOOD!!!! I didn't mean to..It was just a reaction and we laughed about it but serious..I wanted to jump around and dance and sing about it..There was a party in my mouth..My guys Chilequiles were super good too..But if I come back I'm eating those tacos again.. The food is not bad, a typical hotel menu with typical hotel quality. The service is very slow on weekends. There seemed to be only one server, and everything took very long to get like water and condiments. they served our foods on top of each other's so the plate had food on the bottom.... Because we're staying at the Marriott's The Lodge at Sonoma, we went to breakfast at Benicia's Kitchen which is the hotel's restaurant and so convenient. The dining room is beautifully decorated with a modern yet comfortable ambiance. We had a wonderful meal to start our day. I ordered the grilled artichoke eggs Benedict, which was excellent and I'm so glad I chose it! Each element was ideally delicious, from the grilled artichoke, the lemony truffle hollandaise sauce, well prepared spinach and the most amazing English muffin I've ever had (from Sweet Pea's Bakery). The breakfast potatoes (steak-cut wedges) were addicting. My hubby ordered the traditional eggs Benedict with added spinach, and he loved it as well for the same reasons. The service from Liz was very pleasant and kind. She was perfectly attentive and helpful! Doris the hostess was also very nice and an asset to the restaurant staff. We look forward to our next visit and will definitely explore more breakfast menu items. read more

While staying at the Lodge at Sonoma, our reservation included a daily breakfast at Benicia's Kitchen. The place is small so on weekends it can be a wait to get a table but during the week you can walk right in. The menu for breakfast is basically Mexican with the exception of an American Breakfast and French Toast entrees. Each morning I ordered the All American and was very pleased with it. Eggs, bacon, ham, potatoes and toast. My husband tried a few different things such as French Toast and steak/eggs. Food was good. Now the service is a different story. Although the servers are very nice, they are extremely slow. They are not attentive to their customers and you literally have to find them for coffee refills or anything else you may need and this is even when the place isn't crowded. The servers were however accommodating once you hailed them down. Also, special thanks to Edward who is one of the bartenders/servers. He was the best!!! Edward was so friendly and helpful with drink selections and making our stay warm and welcoming. Overall, this is a great place to grab breakfast! Wow! Authentic surprise! First meal (Lunch) upon arrival to The Lodge at Sonoma. The Street Tacos Choose 3 (we chose Flank Steak, Al Pastor, and Chicken) and Loaded Nachos with Flank Steak were on point-so delicious and juicy! Next day (Dinner) Fried Chicken and Platanos Fritos on our patio Al Fresco style. I had to share our feedback with Doug (he worked in the restaurant, served and recommended wine at the Lodge's Daily Wine Tasting, and delivered dinner). Great hospitality and sense of humor! Raul was the Chef for both meals he informed me. ATTN Management: Hold on to this Chef!!! He needs recognition and salary increase if you haven't already. We had our breakfast & dinner here. Everything was amazing! It's a cozy place and super kid-friendly. We brought 2 toddlers and 1 infant here, and thought we might not have time to eat food properly. However, we were able to enjoy food a lot and to take a break as the staff gave us a hand to watch our baby when it wasn't so busy. It gets busy on the weekends, so we actually decided to get it as takeout to enjoy on the patio in front of the pool, which was beautiful. - Latte: actually hand pulled - Fruta Fresca: a mix of topical fruits - pineapple, papaya, watermelon, strawberries, watermelon, etc - French toast: good texture, lots of berries, not overtly sweet. The angus beef was well done despite requesting medium. The hotel is lovely and the restaurant space itself is a pretty farmhouse atmosphere. Except for 1-2 salads and the cheese fajitas, there were no other fish or veggie options. All the dishes (tacos, fajitas, etc) were either chicken, chorizo, pork, steak or shrimp. Get: steak fajitas - veggies and steaks are well marinated, very tender and flavorful. Avoid: cheese quesadillas - tasted dry and bland.
