We were staying at the quaint Lodge for our family Sonoma trip, and arrived late so we thought it was a good idea to stick to a place close by the hotel. We loved everything from the food, chic ambiance to the charm of the place that makes it seem like a special place. The restaurant hearing upon my little one celebrated her fourth birthday last week, whipped up a hand written birthday card welcoming her to the restaurant (pic for reference). The staff was so friendly and patient with my chatty elder one too. Overall, it was a great experience and opened up our Sonoma trip well. Gave us a great impression on the hotel too. Oh, the food. I almost forgot. We had a little bit of everything. But two things I wanted to point out - contrary to what is out there, they DO have a kids' menu and do give you one as a part of their coloring book. Second, the steak was great. Being an aspiring vegetarian, I don't say this too often, but the steak was darn good. Our server made him feel like an adult and waited on him as well. Had a very disappointing Valentine's dinner at Wit and Wisdom. First of all, we had a reservation but were brought to a table all the way in the back in front of the bathrooms when there were plenty of tables open in the main dining area. I don't understand why but we asked to move and ended up sitting elsewhere. Food was not good. Steak was practically raw when we asked for medium rare and took a long time to recook. Great find in Sonoma. Loved the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. Bonus points for being dog friendly. The covered patio was a great place to dine. We enjoyed the Parker Rolls, brick chicken, salmon, sticky toffee pudding and Wit & Wisdom chocolate bar. Everything was great and flavorful. The first batch of Parker Rolls we got had chilled areas like they hadn't been heated enough from the freezer. When I brought it to our server's attention, she immediately brought us new ones that were properly heated. I appreciated that they took them off the bill but wasn't expecting it because they made it right. We will return again when we are wine tasting in the area. read more

Came here for the first time with a party of 8 after wine tasting. Upon entering the restaurant the aroma from the kitchen was amazing. Our server Christian was personable and very attentive during our meal. We had the following dishes, salmon, cauliflower, seafood boil, wedge salad, gnocchi, bomba pizza, 16 oz prime ribeye with whipped potatoes and an order of the rolls, along with some cocktails. The food reviews are as follows, the wedge salad was a good portion and was delicious, the cauliflower, salmon and seafood boil were tasty as well. The gnocchi was described as too dense and tasting like fried mash potatoes. The bomba pizza was described as not too spicy but very good. My wife and I had the ribeye ( medium rare)and whipped potatoes. The steak was cooked to perfection and the potatoes were very buttery and incredible. Let's not forget the rolls, they had a nice butter/ pepper topping and came out piping hot with honey butter. Returned to Wit & Wisdom for my birthday weekend this year and it did not disappoint. We ordered a mix of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. The Parker House rolls, duck fat fries, pizzas, and candy bar dessert stood out the most. We also ordered a couple of tequilas that paired nicely with dinner. I absolutely loved my experience at Wit & Wisdom. My fiance and I had dinner here the night we got engaged so I might be slightly biased, but everything about this place was FABULOUS. Every member of the staff that we interacted with was extremely kind and attentive. The restaurant itself featured and open kitchen and tons of seating. The lights are dim and create an intimate feel. The food was excellent. We enjoyed and array of items with a wine tasting menu featuring local wines from Sangiacomo as well. My favorite dish by far was the chef special duck bolognese. I had never had duck before this, but the bolognese made it so approachable and the basil ricotta was perfectly creamy. What a pleasant surprise this restaurant was fantastic. Prime ribeye steak: 5/5 this piece of art/food could not have been cooked any better. It was perfection. At first we thought it was a little steep in price, but then we took a few bites and it was totally worth ~$100 Aged Burger: 5/5 insanely delicious. All the veggies were so fresh. The patty was cooked perfectly at medium buns were toasted and not too buttery or greasy. duck fat garlic fries were also delicious crispy and really fluffy on the inside. I am a huge fan of Micheal Mina restaurants and having been to several, was excited to try this! It did not disappoint! First we had an amazing dining experience thanks to our server Matt! He had great recommendations, great pace and was fantastic throughout our meal! Our group enjoyed wine but I had to go with the Pliny the Elder as it's a fantastic IPA that I cannot get easily at home We began with the insanely amazing bread rolls which wrote delicious then some appetizers. The beet ravioli which was a curious but very tasty dish and the dish that for me was the standout of the night - the crab and endive Caesar which was spectacular! I went with two appetizers rather than main - the Hamachi crudo; it was good but I have had better. The prices were a little too big and too thick and it just needed a little something to make it pop! The octopus was however great! The service here was impeccable. I came with a party of five for my birthday. When we arrived they had a handwritten card for me for my birthday. We started with the Parker rolls and ricotta spread and were OBSESSED 10/10 on the rolls. We also got duck fat fries: delish! For the table we enjoyed two pizzas, the salmon entrees, two salads and multiple cocktails. We were stuffed and skipped dessert which in hind sight might have been a tragic mistake! The kicker to the entire experience was the email from the manager thanking me for coming in. Wonderful place. My one and only critique is the soda is not refillable and cost 6$ which I think is absurd. We are tourists. We booked this place on open table. When we arrived, we were surprised this restaurant was part of the autograph hotel and that it was a Michael Mina concept. He has like 30 different concepts! The entrance is really cute and there's a nice fire pit seating area in their patio section. We were helped immediately and taken to our reserved table which had a nice card from the staff, congratulating us on our anniversary. We were also offered celebratory glasses of champagne, which we declined. It was still a nice offer, but we were kinda done drinking after our wine tastings all day. We almost got the set menu, but instead, we went with appetizers and would have gotten the lobster pot pie if we were still hungry. But the duck wings, Parker house rolls, octopus and lamb pasta were so filling!!!! We loved all of our dishes. I was surprise the duck wings were 6 instead of 4. What a great serving size. The lamb pasta had a ton of meat. And I believe the pasta is hand made, as I've never seen that style of pasta before? The octopus was perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious. The bread was as heavenly as one would expect. We did end up splurging on dessert. We got the "candy bar" which is as described! It was fantastic. My husband said he wishes it had a side of ice cream. So, I recommend you order that on the side if you get the candy bar. Service was great. Our leftovers were packed up neatly. Parking is tricky. They don't really have a lot. The lot is for hotel guests? There is a valet- maybe they validate? We parked illegally and thankfully the car was not towed. Wonderful restaurant. Would recommend. Our family of four came up to Sonoma for a few days before Christmas and hit the longest stretch of rainy weather. Our first night there, we went to Wit&Wisdom, which was right there at our hotel, and we had a lovely meal together. Standouts were the hamachi crudo; the Parker House rolls; the smoked fish dip; and the mashed potato side. The drinks and wine selection were wonderful. The staff were so hospitable and warmly welcoming to us, and we appreciated the service and the ambiance, although I'm sorry, I will never understand parents who let their small kids roam freely in a restaurant. It is a very kid-friendly restaurant, and I understand how difficult it can be to dine out with small children, but staying there forever while the kids run around screaming and the parents guzzle alcohol is, IMHO, Not Cool. read more

A burger is one of the simplest dishes to get right, yet this one was completely forgettable--worse than In-N-Out, and somehow over $30. The duck fries had a fancy name but tasted overly salty and very basic. The oysters were fresh but overpriced, which is understandable given the setting. The duck wings had an interesting flavor, but leaned way too much toward Panda Express-style orange chicken for my taste. We also ordered the butter rolls, and honestly, many places that offer free bread do it better. Overall, don't be fooled by the brand name--it's extremely average. That said, I was dressed for a dinner in, and while I feel like I rate a lot of places on their welcomeness to my relaxed when not at work style; here I go again saying the same. Not an issue! May have well as been dressed to the nines. We had a wonderful engaging service from Matt, got to chat with some folks at the table next door, and enjoyed a delightful tasting menu and amazing wines. Highlights were definitely the olives, the oysters, the wagyu, and the spinach. The spinach was phenomenal! This was our 2nd visit to Wit & Wisdom, and we enjoyed it just as much as our first visit. We were greeted warmly by Trisha who set the tone perfectly with her friendly demeanor, scoring us a great table where we could see all of the action but still have quiet conversation as well. Our drinks were on point. We went with a couple of the house signature cocktails, which there are a good selection of. Our server Dylan pointed out a few of the best dishes as we looked over the menu. We went with the crab and endive Caesar, bomba pizza, and the salmon. All were good but the Cesar was excellent. I had high hopes for Wit & Wisdom, but the experience was disappointing. From reception to service, not a single person seemed happy to be there--no smiles, no warmth, and no real hospitality. The only person who showed any positivity was a young man from the back of house. The manager mentioned they were trying new things with a new menu, and to be fair, the food itself was good. Unfortunately, the lack of energy and genuine hospitality from the staff really overshadowed the meal. After an incredible day in Sonoma topped off with wonderful massages at the hotel, we were looking forward to finishing the night with a special dinner. Instead, the atmosphere here felt flat and unwelcoming. Good food alone isn't enough; it's the service and the people that make guests want to return. This restaurant really fell short in that aspect. You can have average food and excellent service, and people will come back. However, great food paired with poor service will never encourage return visits. read more

Right off the bat, parking here is a pain, you have to park somewhat far from the restaurant and the valet was absent from their post for most of the time. The staff was friendly but the food hit-and-miss. Salad was bland, but the oysters were great. The presentation was excellent but the portions felt very small for the price. The steak was very good but steak takes very little skill to prepare properly. Salmon was dry and bland - fish is the true test of protein preparation proficiency. I lean closer to three stars but the friendly staff, warm and spacious interior, and strong plating just barely boost wit & wisdom to a four. There are better options for less in Sonoma and this establishment is best suited for the monied but unsophisticated crowd. read more

If I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars I would. My husband and I went in Friday evening for an anniversary celebration and they did not disappoint... Sweet, hand written card, glass of bubbly to celebrate... Plus they sat us at a corner booth table so it gave us the opportunity to sit close and enjoy our dinner together. Stone fruit salad. AMAZING!! Crudo. AMAZING!! New York steak. AMAZING!! Truffle Mac & cheese. AMAZING!!! Everything was incredible. A wonderful place with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We went with a large group and got a variety of dishes and desserts (not all pictured). The best starter that we had was the cazuela and best entree was the Dungeness crab pasta. You can't go wrong with the desserts! The chocolate bar was rich and decadent.
