What a wonderful spot! I've been meaning to try this place for a long time now and have driven by it countless times and finally made it in for a visit. Starling Bar Sonoma is located just a couple minutes from the Sonoma Square and is off Highway 12 and W. Spain Street. From the moment you walk in you get a quintessential Sonoma experience and the atmosphere is very warm and relaxing all in one. They have a pretty large bar and a decent amount of indoor seating and they also have an outdoor area too. They even have some games you can play too and a giant jenga. The bartenders make fantastic cocktails and use local ingredients! You can tell they care about quality and it shows with their drink lineup and flavors. In addition to cocktails they also have beer and wine too. On Mondays and Wednesdays they have locals night with a cocktail on special each of those nights. They also have live music events often. I have to come back for one of those events sometime soon!

Nice bar. Good selection of liquors and a lot of house-made ingredients used. Love that. Didn't get the bartender's name, but he was very friendly and patient while it took a while to decide on drinks. We didn't play any games, but they have a lot there to hang out and play. Ordered the bacon bourbon sour and pieces of eight punch to drink, and two bourbon cookies. We both very much preferred the bacon drink. Not the best of fancy cocktails, but a very nice flavor that is something different from a lot of other cocktail places. The punch was just okay. Not entirely balanced, but a decent flavor. Not something we would order again. Those cookies were spectacular though. Honestly went back and forth about purchasing them (they cost more than $6 for two) and I'm so glad I did. Any time I'm driving through Sonoma I'll have to stop back by to get more.

I thoroughly enjoyed my evening here, nourished by tasty cocktails and tended to by a caring bartender and friendly locals. Excited by a unique menu that had several house originals listed throughout, I opted for a pica pepper margarita to start. I appreciated that the bartender asked me what my spice tolerance was before making it, which was evidence of them wanting to make sure I enjoyed myself. I'm a spice wimp (ask my local Indian restaurants) and I was happy that it came out middle-of the-road spice wise. They quickly shut me down when I asked after the pizza, which apparently stops being served at 7 PM. The bartender and locals talked me into a classic Chicago-style hot dog, which they assured me would be first-rate. It was fine. The pepinos on top were a nice touch, but the lack of a ketchup or sauce kept it from reaching the next level. They also have a Korean version with gochujang mayo available after hours, which I suppose I should opt for the next time I'm there. I also sampled a Brooklyn cocktail and an old fashioned. The Brooklyn was just a little sweet while also being bitter, which made it a nice bridge cocktail to the old fashioned, which was sweet and spicy. It did the work of highlighting the whiskey (Old Forester), a new one to me. I'd totally recommend this place as an alternative to the rampant Sonoma wine scene.

This is a fine bar - friendly and welcoming with a dark polished wooden bar, and a variety of seating options throughout the space, a small stage (for live entertainment), and fine craft cocktails (they even make their own ginger beer for their Starling Mules - which are really good). There's a strong draft coming through the front door on cold nights, so move to the sides or back and you'll be fine. They offer wood-fired pizzas and some creative and very good bar snacks. Recommended.

Starlight is amazing! Excellent customer service; drinks are delicious. I happen to go on a Wednesday, and they have Costa tacos outside the parking lot. Friendly people too. They have a variety of Mexican food options. Quesabirria Tacos Quesadillas Tortas Please stop by. They are delicious. My friend said that their pizza is delicious I would come back. They only have them on Friday and Saturday.

Indoor bar and stage, featuring comedy shows, local singers/bands, etc.

So crispy and garlicky! And, the kitchen (plus our amazing server Gustavo!!) was kind enough to make a custom pesto cavatelli for me because I didn't want the cavatelli with morel mushrooms! I will be thinking about the texture of this pasta + the pistachio pesto for a long time. They kept the corn pudding of the original dish at the bottom and it was such a good combination of flavors. I got chicken added on top. I got an espresso martini with gin; pretty good, just wished there was a bit more espresso flavor. Probably would order one of their house cocktails instead next time. Lastly we had the stone fruit cobbler with ice cream and a pine nut/pistachio brittle. Unlike any other cobbler I've ever had. Perfection of different textures. Also, we had the duck fat fries on another day; they were delightfully crispy and lightly seasoned with garlic. The ranch it came with was so yummy and definitely dill-forward. I'd definitely come back! Thank you for your hospitality.

We ordered oysters, deviled eggs, and a ceasar salad to start, then got the steak and broccoli for a main course. I loved the oysters, steak, chimichurri that came on it, crispy potatoes, and deviled eggs. These might have actually been some of the best crispy potatoes I've ever had, they did them pretty perfectly. The Caesar salad was a little mayo heavy in some bites and anchovy heavy in others, dressing could have been mixed a little better, but it was still good for the most part and a good portion too. I was glad we got the broccoli to have another vegetable, but didn't love the sauce on it. It didn't really go with what we were eating, and just felt like it could've been rounded out a little more. We lucked out, didn't have a reservation but they had a spot for us on the outdoor patio, which ended up being the perfect spot to dine on a nice warm evening. It was quaint and felt like someone's backyard, highly recommend sitting back here when the weather is good.

Sure I was interested in some food but it was also a football Sunday and I wanted a cold frosty beer to celebrate my hike and the start of my roadtrip. I don't do strict planning when it comes to eating and drinking. I often find it more intriguing when serendipity plays a hand. I'm walking down this town's main retail square, insured something was within reach. I pass by this unassuming dive bar with no signage but very well laid out inside. It was surprisingly quiet for a weekend afternoon in a touristy spot. Friendly bartender asked me what I wanted. But I ask first if I could get our local football game on and if they served food. Game yes said it would be on within minutes. Food unfortunately no but there were tons of options outside the door. Ordered a cold lager on tap from the east coast. The lager was light cold and refreshing. I think I finished it within minutes. Tender was quick to ask for a refill, love that. I next get a beer refill, and a Jameson on the rocks to quietly sip on, as I was now committed to watching the first half there. Very impressive glass and pour on the Irish whisky. I take a few sips but finish my beer, but this time much longer to down as I wasn't so parched now. I sip the rest of the whisky but now well diluted from the cold ice, which makes it so much more smooth to me. It opens the spirit, takes away the heat and blooms the flavors. My second round took over an hour. Then halftime hits in the game with a close score, even though my team did not look good. I tell the bartender that I'll close out to look for some lunch. By this time the bar was filling up. 3 perfectly timed drinks for well under $10 bucks a pop just sent me on my long weekend on a sweet note. I found food around the corner where they had a tv and I was able to watch the remaining of the game there. If no TVs were found, I would have gone back to the bar to finish the game. I was still pleased with my short experience there. Small town watering hole encapsulated.

We stopped by on a Saturday for lunch and it was BUSY. There is limited parking so definitely keep that in mind. The line moves pretty quickly and you place your order inside. They have a large patio in the back with plenty of seating. We ordered the chips and guac, enchiladas de mole, and enchiladas suizas. The chips and guac came out first. The chips are SO GOOD. They fry their homemade tortillas into a large chip. The tortillas are very flavorful and the guacamole is rich and creamy. I think they grate their jalapeño/serrano into the avocado which allows for the flavor to be spread out across the bite. My only complaint is regarding the guac: I wish it had lime! Or if it did have lime, it didn't have enough. The food took a while to come out but the wait was worth it. The portions are huge! The enchiladas suizas were scrumptious. The chicken is stewed which makes it very moist and full of flavor. The pickled veggies weren't my favorite but I'm not generally a pickled veggies fanatic. My partner enjoyed his enchiladas con mole (which I obviously stole a bite from). The mole was very rich and decadent. Overall, we had an excellent experience and look forward to a trip back!
