Expertly prepared char burger with all the right trimmings and fries.

Schnitzel the last time wasn't as good. More bland sauce. Spaetzle over done. Chicken battered and not totally cooked through had a mealy mouthfeel instead of crispy. 5 out of 10. So much potential for true greatness when it's done well. I've gained enough confidence that I would come back. I will send it back next time if it's a repeat performance.

Went for a late afternoon snack at the Plaza Bistro Bar. Ordered the bruschetta (really good), a mixed green salad (also good), and an old-fashioned--which was unfortunately not good. Anytime a bartender adds soda water to an old-fashioned, it completely ruins it. I drank it anyway, but I never thought I'd have to ask whether they put soda water in an old-fashioned ‍. Service was slow. After finishing my meal, I asked for the check. Instead of bringing it, the bartender made drinks for guests who weren't even at the bar (they were outside smoking), then took another order from a different table. I had to ask again before finally getting my bill, at least 15 minutes later. At the time, there were only a couple outside and one other couple at the bar, so it wasn't busy. Forgot to grab a picture of the bruschetta and salad, but both were worth ordering.

It had been awhile since we had gone out in the Sonoma Square and the Plaza Bistro was the only place that had openings. It was still quite warm outside in the evening, so we sat inside with the AC. Our waiter gave us some time to peruse the menu before ordering. For starters we got the fried calamari and the caprese salad. The breading for the calamari was a little thick, however the sauce was delicious. The caprese salad was chilled and no complaints. For mains, we got the Schnitzel, Seared Scallops, and Chicken Picatta. The schnitzel was fried in the same oil as the calamari, so the seafood flavor came out. The meat was tender and the mushroom sauce was amazing. The scallops were a tad overcooked so they were a little chewy. The chicken picatta was the best dish, with a lovely sauce, but the mashed potatoes could have used some salt. This was a good restaurant for tourists coming in town and may need a meal after a few winery tastings, but there are better options for food on the Square for locals. Hopefully this was an off night for the kitchen.

I came here with friends and one of them has a service dog. As soon as we arrived, we were approached by the owner saying " you can't bring the dog and asked for id". We told him that he was not supposed to ask for an id". He rudely disagreed. They charge $5 for a soft drink with lots of ice with no refills. Flies flying all over our food as they had the front door wide open so they don't have to turn on their AC. On top of it they charge an admin fee . I asked what this was for? They said it was for cc fee. I would not recommend this place to anyone Not worth it Please see the pic of my spaghetti . It was more like soup than spaghetti. Very little spaghetti with lots of sauce. The owner is very greedy and do not care about anything other than his pocket

The food was unbelievably delicious for a Bistro. I was amazingly surprised by the menu and options for any palette. The ambiance is Italian cafe. Thank you for the sweet and honest service.

Our server was amazing! She was very attentive and constantly checked in on us. She also gave suggestions that were honest. Place is mellow, we sat outside, nice vice of the park. The food was pretty good and decently priced. I wish I would've tried more of the foods. I got the steak, and it was a good size and surprisingly good, loved the sauce. Oh get the bruschetta, pretty good as well. I'd probably come back again to try new items. Definitely cool little spot, recommend going here and giving it a chance.

Great food. Bob the bartender was great (I ate at the bar). Gritty de Mar pasta was excellent. Great looking space. Classic wood bar.

We loved everything from the food, chic ambiance to the charm of the place that makes it seem like a special place. The restaurant hearing upon my little one celebrated her fourth birthday last week, whipped up a hand written birthday card welcoming her to the restaurant (pic for reference). The staff was so friendly and patient with my chatty elder one too. Overall, it was a great experience and opened up our Sonoma trip well. Gave us a great impression on the hotel too. Oh, the food. I almost forgot. We had a little bit of everything. But two things I wanted to point out - contrary to what is out there, they DO have a kids' menu and do give you one as a part of their coloring book. Second, the steak was great. Being an aspiring vegetarian, I don't say this too often, but the steak was darn good. Our server made him feel like an adult and waited on him as well. He was very proud of himself - thank you for that touch!

I don't understand why but we asked to move and ended up sitting elsewhere. Food was not good. Steak was practically raw when we asked for medium rare and took a long time to recook. The short rib tasted like airplane food. Had high expectations as we do like his other restaurants. Will not be returning.

My goto dinner spot in Sonoma…read more I actually have been here multiple times and I don't know what has taken me so long to post a review but the Girl and the Fig is definitely the truth. When you enter you'll notice a more homey decor to the place. Warm colors all around and even warmer service once you sit down. Every single experience Ive had here is been nothing less of 110%. Theres always this good balance professionalism with lightheartedness that pair so well for the atmosphere. Because at its core this restaurant is high scale. It definitely has that higher scale vibe but if never comes off as pretentious though. This particular I took my wifey here for our 10th year anniversary together. And we were greeting by a nice little card from the "Fig Family." We ended up trying the Seared Halloumi and I was shocked at how much I liked it. Very light flavors but still enough variety with the crispy spigarello and pine nuts to keep things fun. The lemon never feels too overwhelming. For mains my wife got the Mushroom RisottoI think? Or maybe it was Butternut Squash Risotto? I got the Fig Burger and both were amazing. The only reason I didn't get her Risotto was simply because I already had it at lunch time, but that still didn't stop me from taking a bite. Each rice like grain had a perfect chew and flavor to each bite. Even being the picky person that I am with veggies, I appreciated the veggies addition to the dish. I still think though that the sure winner was my Fig Burger. This burger is everything we wish our local breweries burger was. A harmonic balance between salty and sweet. Im down to get a little crazy with burgers but if it's too sweet, it kinda loses the appeal for me. It takes away too much from the burgers roots. So yea. Go here. Make reservations too. I know for myself I made mine about a month in advance so it's hard to say how hard it is to get a table here. But hopefully it's not too bad. Parking by the way is just street parking. Despite that Ive always been able to get a park on W Spain St right before I pull up to the restaurant. OH! And thanks again Girl and the Fig family! You made the end to our anniversary quite magical!

The staff were super attentive even though they were very busy and they were also very friendly. The food was delicious, my wife and I got a large Sonoma Pizza and a mixed green salad to share. Before we even got to the pizza, that was the best green salad I've ever had. Simple, yummy, especially the cucumbers and cherry tomatoes. I am a pizza snob, and with the exception of Mountain Mike's, I can't stand any of the big chains. The Sonoma pizza had the perfect balance of pepperoni, salami, mushrooms, onions and garlic. The restaurant was also impeccably decorated, with a splash of Italy and Sonoma Wine country represented. Every dish they walked by made my mouth water. We definitely be going back again and again, especially when we head out that way for wine tasting.

The look on my wife's face, said it before the boxes were even on the Kitchen Table. To begin with the Greek Salad was nothing but greens with little or nothing extra, barely Artichoke Hearts, Cucumbers and any Pepper Slices, no olives or Feta... enter dressing was lacking any true flavor, nothing of what I expected for the money. Next came my expectations......gone, we paid extra for Feta and Cheese, neither could be bee seen evenly through the whole pie. The sauce and cheese inconsistency was baffling... why would anyone claim that this was anything that Little Ceasars couldn't easily beat, seemed that quality had been replaced with "Just get it out the door". The final two pies were so substandard that I could Hardly compare them to anything worthy of Jacobs name. I'd give this places 1/2 Star if I could. The owners should be ashamed of selling this.

The evening kicked off with Oysters on the Half Shell--each one a little oceanic gem--paired with a Champagne Mignonette that whispered sophistication and a Cocktail Sauce that thankfully didn't scream spice. For the main event, I tackled the Cioppino, a seafood stew that felt like a warm hug from the ocean. The Tomato Ragu was rich and comforting, while the Mussels and Clams were so good I half-expected them to thank me for eating them. The Calamari? Eh, not their finest hour. Scallops were impressively plump, but the Crab was playing hard to get. The Prawns, however, were unapologetically large, and the Bruschetta on top was the culinary equivalent of a mic drop. The service and vibe? Perfectly chill, with just the right amount of nostalgia. Honestly, I was amazed this gem of a location is still standing tall.
