We've never been to a Portuguese restaurant before so this place stood out to me as I was looking for a place to have dinner in Sonoma. The place was quaint and rustic, small but felt homey. Our server and server assistant were honestly amazing. So friendly and attentive to our needs, promptly clearing dishes throughout our courses. They brought out an amuse Bouche for us to start which was a quick tasty bite. I had to try the braised pork belly. Best thing I had all night. Fork tender and so delicious with the apple lardons. I wish they kept the skin or made it crispy to give it a little crunch. But it was still an amazing dish, I could've eaten 20 more. Fisherman stew, Feijoada and Fish casserole cake were all so flavorful. Classic Portuguese dishes that we thoroughly enjoyed. For me I had the catch of the day that came with a bed of grilled corn, collard greens and something like a pico on top. Everything tasted fresh and went very well together. It was a great experience for our first time having Portuguese food! Would definitely come back!

The food was very good, the ambiance was cozy, and the service set it apart. The pork belly we started with was so flavorful. My fish of the day was well seasoned and very delicious!

We wanted to get out of SF to enjoy some nicer weather and found ourselves enjoying a beautiful day in Sonoma. After checking out the restaurants around the main square, we decided to try La Salette, as its Portuguese menu stood out with its unique offerings and tasty options. Shortly after ordering, we were provided with a free amuse bouche from the chef, shrimp croquettes with a slightly tangy sauce and salsa brava. The shrimp croquettes were crispy, yet also light and zesty; a beautiful start to the meal. I also ordered a caipirinha, my go-to cocktail when I lived in Brazil. La Salette's caipirinha was extremely delicious, with a healthy dose of lime and mint that washed down nicely with the cachaça. For starters, we began with the grilled octopus and tomato salad. The grilled octopus was cooked perfectly and paired nicely with the red wine vinegar, fingerling potatoes, and pickled seaweed. The heirloom tomato salad was absolutely fantastic, as the tomatoes were perfectly ripe and were complemented nicely with the chickpea puree and feta cheese. This was my favorite bite of the night. For entrees, we tried the bacalhau no forno, the caldeirada, and the açorda de Trigo. My mom loved the bacalhau no forno, which was a bit lighter than she was expecting but had a great punch of flavor between the salted cod, potatoes, onions and olives. My dad and I also really enjoyed the caldeirada, which had a generous portion of sea bass, scallops, clams, mussels, potatoes, shrimp, and linguiça in a flavorful broth. This reminded me a little bit of cioppino given the copious amount of seafood, although it had more of a velvety tasting broth without the flavor of tomatoes. Finally, my partner really enjoyed the açorda de Trigo, which had a perfectly poached egg that created a velvety sauce over the farro, mushrooms, and pine nuts. For dessert, we all split the fruit plate, which was the highlight of the meal. We really loved how the dessert was more of an assortment of tasty dishes that complemented each other nicely, rather than one single dish. All of the components of the dessert were fantastic: the poached pear had a nice spiced taste, the macerated mango was super sweet and tangy, and the pineapple semifreddo was velvety and tangy. But, the passion fruit cannoli was truly unreal. The tang of the passion fruit and light crisp of the cannoli shell were incredible. Would highly recommend trying this or their other desserts, as they all looked incredible. All in all, given the fantastic restaurants in Sonoma, La Salette is a great choice if you're looking for something unique that highlights local fruit and produce, as well as meat and seafood options. We would definitely come back here the next time we're in Sonoma! EDIT: Forgot to mention that the service was incredible and very attentive. Everyone was super nice, friendly and helpful, and made sure every part of our meal was enjoyable and to our liking. Thank you!

    Bacalhau No Forno

This restaurant was the highlight of our Sonoma weekend getaway! We sat on the cozy patio which smelled amazing thanks to the star jasmine shrubs that surrounded us. Our 2 small dogs were also welcomed with a bowl of water. It was hard to narrow down what to order as there are so many enticing choices! The baked oysters were amazing and we loved the complimentary chef's amuse bouche shrimp croquettes which were crispy and rich in flavor. The Bacalhau no Forno was unlike any dish I've ever had before and would definitely order again ! My husband loved the Pork and clams dish - the pork was so tender and flavorful . We are still talking about how amazing this tasted ! The "caramel " dish was also a highlight - I especially loved the crunchiness of the almond brittle . The service was also attentive . We can't wait to come back again to try more dishes and will recommend to anyone looking for a unique culinary delight in Sonoma !!

Everything the service was impeccable its was our anniversary so they start us off with a couple of glasses of sparkling wine very nice . The dinner wow I had the clam and pork belly you talking about flavor man or man its was heaven in a bowl . My wife had the catch of the day sea bass melted in your mouth. You get surprise appetizers shrimp thing it was great . You definitely need bread for my dish it's drip city . They have a homemade bread it was to die for . This place is presentation is everything and the food taste as good as it looks the corn spinach was excellent. It's been there 20 something years for a restaurant you got to no good try it prices aren't all that bad

    Caldeirada - Portuguese Fisherman's Stew

Ive been to a bunch of the local restaurants and they're all great, but I was looking for over the top. I believe we found it. All of the flavors, this had to be the best food I've eaten in a long time! We got the day boat scallops, with the chorizo crust and the octopus to start, phenomenal! Finishing with the branzino and Caldeirada - Portuguese Fisherman's Stew. The branzino was succulent! The service was excellent (forgive me, I can't remember her name) everyone who worked there were engaging while being professional. The ambiance was cozy and relaxing. We're going to try their sister restaurant Tasca Tasca, for lunch.

This was a really lovely experience. It is a very cozy and warm restaurant and the staff is also warm and friendly. Not pretentious like it can be at "nice" restaurants. We really enjoyed the food and there were definitely more items on the menu that we were interested in trying. If we are back in the area, I would definitely return.

I think this was my 3rd time visiting LaSalette. Have always loved the food here. This was the first restaurant where I tried authentic Portugese food. And, then I also went to Portugal a couple of years ago, and loved the baked casserole with salt cod and potatoes i had there. Had been trying to find that at a few other Portugese places but none came close until I tried that at LaSalette. So yum! Service was great as always, even though it was super crowded for Mother's day. We had arrived a little earlier than our reservation time, but they were able to find us a table quickly. Their sardines are a must have! And, if you have sweet tooth, do try the traditional rice pudding with cinnamon, braised fig, and ice cream sandwich combo in dessert. So yum!

    Scallops are to die for.

Best food in all of Sonoma. Service, food presentation and flavor is fine dining experience at Bistro prices. This is an amazing hidden gem. If it was on the Main Street you couldn't get a seat. But it is tucked away and so it is worth looking for it. We've so far tried the tomato soup, octopus, sardines, pulled pork, scallops and chicken salad and of course the pear desert. Absolutely 10 out of 10!!!! All I would improve is that its location be closer to my home!! I would eat here every other day!! Thanks again for a perfect lunch yet again. No pictures of our first visit but it was equally impressive.

great meal from apps to dinner to dessert, and the restaurant had really top notch service. we weren't very enchanted by the location (at the end of a short street with views of a parking lot and neighboring stores) but we would definitely return for the food and service!

Delicious! We came here for dinner with our pup and it was everything we were expecting! A friend had recommended this place and specifically told us to order the octopus and the branzino. The branzino was amazing! Delicate, flavorful and just perfect! I also appreciated their flights of wines specifically from Portugal. The restaurant is quaint and has plenty of outdoor seating. Will def make a point of returning!

Lovely, quiet, and private spot for a formal lunch before wine tasting in Sonoma. Husband was underwhelmed by the feijoada, but I enjoyed the fisherman's stew (beautiful presentation). Wish we hadn't been in a rush - would've liked to have tried their dessert menu.

Two desserts..the Traditional and the Caramel.

We came from out of town to Sonoma for our 50 th anniversary dinner here. The food was excellent. The octopus appetizer was cooked to perfection, not overdone. The wine selection is fairly extensive. Recommend getting one of the flights. One star off for two reasons: The place was extremely crowded being valentines day but it looked like they brought extra tables in. It was cramped Secondly, we had informed them it was our 50 th anniversary dinner. Aside from a quick mention by the host, there was nothing else. I appreciate that they were busy but a tiny complimentary something as other restaurants have done would have made it special. Don't ask if the diner is celebrating an occasion If you are not going to add a little extra.

The fish and chips is described as "cassava floured". Anyone know if it's gluten free?

That's what's amazing about the "cassava floured" fish and chips. It makes the fish gluten free with their flour.

    Do they have vegan ootions?

I know they had vegetarian but not sure about the vegan.

    Are there Gluten-free options?

No. There were none when we were there in August 2017. That said, there are some gluten-light items, such as seafood and rice dishes.

Located just steps from Sonoma Plaza, there is street parking all around, but we took the complimentary shuttle from our hotel which is very convenient for a day of sipping bubbles. Morgynne was our server and super knowledgeable, giving detailed descriptions of wines we tried, and was patient with us, taking our sweet time enjoying our glasses and documenting our visit. I had the Champagne Flight ($35) and the #YEShusband had the Rosé Flight ($25). The Champagne flight included pours of: Champagne G.H. Mumm Grand Cordon Brut, Champagne Monthuys Brut, and Champagne Château de Bligny Grande Réserve. The Rosé flight included pours of: Cuvée Françoise, Langlois Brut Rosé, and Lucien Albrecht Brut Rosé. We also ordered some additional post-flight glasses of the Schramsberg Mirabelle Blanc de Blancs and Lucien Albrecht Brut Rosé to cap off our time at SIGH. Everything about SIGH is top notch: from the selection of bubbles ranging from California noteables to European standouts, to the curated decor and vibes, this is a must stop when you're in Sonoma. When you enter you'll notice a more homey decor to the place. Warm colors all around and even warmer service once you sit down. Every single experience Ive had here is been nothing less of 110%. Theres always this good balance professionalism with lightheartedness that pair so well for the atmosphere. Because at its core this restaurant is high scale. It definitely has that higher scale vibe but if never comes off as pretentious though. This particular I took my wifey here for our 10th year anniversary together. And we were greeting by a nice little card from the "Fig Family." We ended up trying the Seared Halloumi and I was shocked at how much I liked it. Very light flavors but still enough variety with the crispy spigarello and pine nuts to keep things fun. The lemon never feels too overwhelming. For mains my wife got the Mushroom RisottoI think? Or maybe it was Butternut Squash Risotto? I got the Fig Burger and both were amazing. The only reason I didn't get her Risotto was simply because I already had it at lunch time, but that still didn't stop me from taking a bite. Each rice like grain had a perfect chew and flavor to each bite. Even being the picky person that I am with veggies, I appreciated the veggies addition to the dish. I still think though that the sure winner was my Fig Burger. This burger is everything we wish our local breweries burger was. A harmonic balance between salty and sweet. Im down to get a little crazy with burgers but if it's too sweet, it kinda loses the appeal for me. It takes away too much from the burgers roots. So yea. Go here. Make reservations too. I know for myself I made mine about a month in advance so it's hard to say how hard it is to get a table here. But hopefully it's not too bad. Parking by the way is just street parking. Despite that Ive always been able to get a park on W Spain St right before I pull up to the restaurant. OH! And thanks again Girl and the Fig family!
