We were exploring Sonoma and saw a sign for a brewery, so we headed on over. An indoor/outdoor tasting room with wine and beer makes this a great stop! Some street parking available, but also off the main drag in Sonoma, so it's very walkable from wherever you find parking. We chose to hangout on the patio, so we didn't really see inside. The patio is spacious, well-decorated, and has a bit of shade to escape the California sun. The staff was really friendly and conversational during our visit! They have a few beers and plenty of wine available to sample! We tried a few of their brews during our visit! They were refreshing and crisp. Absolutely fantastic winery. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Brenden who was incredibly hospitable. He also might've turned me out into a Chardonnay drinker. I usually lean towards Pinot. Which they also have is wonderful. But I was super surprised by how good their Chardonnay is. Fruit forward and absolutely delicious.. The winery itself is very cool and super fun to hang out at. The even serve beer for the non-wine drinkers. I'm not sure how to leave photos but I wish I could. I highly recommend checking this place out. These are the kind of wineries that make me like Sonoma over Napa. Ended up buying a case and will be back very soon for more. read more

Absolutely terrible experience at Roche Winery Downtown on July 25 around 2 pm. We were told we could sit anywhere, and the employee who checked us in said he would come by with water. He never did. No one ever came to our table to take our order, check on us, or even acknowledge us. What made it even more frustrating was watching the same employee stop by to change and refill a dog's water bowl while we were still sitting there waiting for service. A dog received attention before we did lol. Meanwhile, we watched other guests who arrived after us get greeted, given water, and served immediately. As an Asian couple, the difference in treatment was hard not to notice and left us feeling singled out and unwelcome. We eventually left without ever being served. Regardless of intent, this was unacceptable service and not the level of hospitality anyone should expect. read more

Roche Winery is a little house located just off of the Sonoma Plaza, the historic square in downtown Sonoma. They have a small indoor tasting room and gift shop, as well as the "Tap Room", but what we really liked was the outdoor space in front, along the street. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch, overlooking the front patio area with fire pit. Very nice ambiance, and you get to watch all the people milling around town. We enjoyed a relaxing, midweek tasting experience with Sandy, who poured our wines and gave us a nice explanation of each. We shared a Select and Reserve tasting, so we could try more of their offerings, and found several that we really liked, including the '21 American Oaked Chardonnay, the '21 Tamarix (a sweet Pinot Rosé), the '18 Longford Pinot Noir, and the '21 El Nino (a Bordeaux blend), and we purchased bottles of each. We stopped in just before closing, and had dinner plans, so we weren't able to try anything from their food menu. They do offer a Cheese & Fruit Tray ($26), an Artisan Charcuterie Board ($32), and deli case items such as crackers, charcuterie meats, cheeses, tapenade, olives, fig jam, and chocolates, all provided by Aunt Momo's, wine country ranch cooking. Now that they have a tap room, we've been enjoying their family-brewed beer on tap - the blonde ale is the most refreshing, however, their seasonal brew, which is a dark lager, is surprisingly crisp and delicious! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always providing great service. The downtown tasting room is located in a great spot, with easy access to the square. We stopped by Roche since it was open later than most spots and were very happy we did! They have a huge outdoor patio that's dog friendly and lots of cute tables throughout. The main building is the tasting room which also has lots of fun signs and trinkets for purchase. At the back house they also have beer on tap. Since it was about an hour until close, we could only get a glass. The rosé was a bit sweet for my taste but we enjoyed the Unoakes Chardonnay. We'll be back on our next trip to Sonoma! read more

We sat outside because it was a nice cool day and sitting by the fire with some red wine sounded right up our alley. We were strolling through the Square in Sonoma on a Saturday afternoon when we saw Roche and decided to drop in. Spur of the moment was no problem as we were quickly seated at a table in the yard by helpful staff. Preferring reds, we did a tasting of Roche's Estate selection and were not disappointed. My personal favorite was the Estate Merlot, but their Pinot was excellent! Though not a white wine fan, Roche had a good selection in that area as well.
