The tasting room is beautiful - pristine, well-decorated, intimate, and great music playing at just the right volume. Lloyd walked us through his journey as a winemaker and his wines. I love it here. The wine is wonderful. The tasting experience is so good. They literally teach you how to drink wine. And that's basically all the time. When I was there, they served this little roasted duck in a graham cracker bite. And then with the wine. It's so good. Lloyd and Brent have been excelling in the tasting room experience for a while now. Shaemus is such a great addition to the team. The ambiance feels comfortable and upscale. 3.5/5 Came to visit as part of my birthday celebration on Saturday March 2nd. This is located right off the Sonoma downtown square which is nice because there are so many shops and boutiques to explore. My group selected the food and wine pairing tasting option, and since I reserved a table and prepaid for the reservation, upon arrival, our table was already partially set up which allowed us to be immediately seated, loved that. Séamas (James in Irish) was our taste guide - a really nice fella who was fully engaged and not at all intimidated by me and my girlfriends' jokes and giggles -- overall, the ambience in the room seemed more serious -- no music and very soft talking, kind of felt like we were in a library with booze, and at first, it felt odd to speak at all, I found myself whispering. Food pairings were wonderful - the winery works with a local caterer so the food items change periodically. We left with a bottle of cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, and malbec. Sounds good right? The reason why this isn't rated higher is because the owner was there and spoke to EVERYONE in the room except our table. There were 3 of us ladies, then I counted literally 4 other couples -- the taste room is small so it's not like we were tucked away, and we were there for at least an hour and a half. Since there are so many wineries in this area, part of how I dwindled down the long list of options was by choosing to have my first wine tasting experience at a black owned business (the list really does dwindle down), so to know that Lloyd Davis was in the room but didn't make it a point to say hello was extremely disheartening. We didn't expect anything extra than what we were seeing others experience, which was a conversation or greeting by the owner. Even Seamus mentioned that he'd go get Lloyd to say hello to us (we didn't ask), so clearly, this is something Lloyd usually does. Lisa and I both took leave from work today to support this Black Owned business. We called in advance to make our reservation and they were kind enough to give us a courtesy call the day before our appointment to alert us to the air quality, as a result of wind carrying ash from the wildfires. Since the Sonoma Wine Tasting was going to be seated outside, per covid rules, we were given the option to reschedule. We were both excited so we kept the reservation and wouldn't you know it, the skies were clear and it wasn't dusty at all :) We were warmly greeted by the owner, Lloyd Davis and he escorted us to our table. Lloyd explained everything we needed to know about the five selections. It was helpful to hear the food items he enjoys pairing them with. They are ALL award winning wines and it was such a wonderful experience. Hands down, our favorite was the Signature Corner Cuvee :) Each of us took one home! He shared his story of how he started in the wine industry​ and eventually opened Corner 103. Throughout the whole tasting experience,​ Lloyd was very passionate about his work, business and of course the wine too. A new glass was used for each tasting and was the correct type of glass for the wine we were trying. Lloyd insisted that to properly enjoy the wine you must have a fresh glass and the correct type of glass. It's very rare that I go to a wine tasting and love each wine I taste and I can absolutely​ say that I enjoyed every wine at Corner 103. Wow!! What a great wine tasting experience! First of all the tasting room is gorgeous and clean. I can't believe that I live a couple blocks from the tasting room and haven't been here before. Lloyd the owner was so nice and he sure does know what he is doing with his wines. We tasted 6 wines. Everything we tasted was so balanced. No heavy tannins, which is a big plus! My favorites were the Sparkling Rose, 2019 Corner Cuvée and the 2020 Pinot but honestly we loved everything so much that we joined the membership. 4 bottles 4 times a year and you are able to customize your selections if you don't want what is suggested for your pickup. This is my favorite tasting room in all of California. Not only are the wines fantastic, with an amazingly wide selection, but the service and attention are second to none. Lloyd and Brent put so much thought and time into not just the wines they make, but also into your experience there. The tasting room is never crowded like so many other places, and this allows them to provide meaningful attention during your tasting. They know the wines so well, and can suggest excellent pairings for each varietal. Corner 103 wines are a go-to for many of my friends' gatherings. Every time I think I have a favorite, they come up with a new blend or varietal. If you like red blends, they always do an excellent job of putting together the perfect combination of grapes to come up with a smooth, delicious bottle. You will never have a wine tasting experience quite like this. After grabbing some lunch in the square, a couple friends suggested we go to Corner 103 which they have previously raved about. Luckily, Lloyd was able to accommodate our party of 7 spontaneously. What a wonderful educator. He picks his own grapes and creates all of his wines meticulously. It was interesting to learn his story being in the hedge fund business for many years and transitioning into the wine industry. He explained to our group why he uses different glasses for every wine he serves and never reuses the same ones during the tastings. Every wine I tried had its own character, they were all devine. My favorites were the 2014 Corner Cuvée which is a nice bubbly, 2014 Grenache, 2013 Cabernet Franc, and the 2014 Petit Sarah. Enjoyable tasting room experience. Husband and I chose this as one of our picks for tasting rooms during our California wine country honeymoon. This is a great place to stop after leisurely perusing the stores and sights in the picturesque downtown Sonoma square. We booked a tasting online and were greeted by Brent, who guided our tasting experience. Bonus points for being a Black-founded company, which I had no idea until we learned about the history of Corner 103. I appreciate that the philosophy behind the wines is to create an approachable, drinkable, versatile wine journey. We found each of the wines so enjoyable, from a fun bubbly to a deep red- and the room was so beautiful, with panes of glass all the way around. Would visit again! read more

What sets Corner 103 apart from the rest is that this tasting room is beautiful. The wine is served in the glass that is designed for each specific varietal. And the service is spectacular. We made an appointment for a tasting, but got more than just a tasting (that's your best bet here, because they are in demand). We got a wondrous tour of the wine country from the comfort of our leather chairs. Corner 103 manages to be, at once, fine wine in a nicely appointed setting, coupled with a knowledgeable yet unpretentious wine education. There are many things to see here with your taste buds. At Corner 103 we felt comfortable, un-rushed, and encouraged to appreciate what it was that we tasted in the wine. Close your eyes as you are tasting and see the colors of the world. Both Lloyd and Brent are so very well versed in their craft that you are amazed at how much more that you can experience than you have ever experienced before just standing at a wine bar, somewhere else, being steered by some wine sales person. Each selection was unique, the wine varietals are, well, varied and the craftsmanship quite palpable. If you want to experience high-quality wines in a focussed environment where you can ask questions and learn what it is that goes into the wines you love then come to Corner 103. My favorites are their sparking wines, especially their sparkling rose'. We share it at get-togethers with special friends and they never let us open just one bottle. The wines here are truly unique. My best advise: Put together a group of 6 or 8 and have a private food/wine pairing event. We did this one day, in the mid-afternoon, as a precursor for dinner on the Sonoma Square. It was huge hit. Our friends shipped their wines home and we took ours then and there. We even took a couple to dinner. What a day! At Corner 103 every year is a new adventure in wine, so you do not always see the same varietals year to year, and that's just one of the things that make Corner 103 special. If you love a wine, then get it while you can. Their productions are limited and, as we found out, they often sell out quickly, (many times they sell out with the club release). read more
