Tasting
Elizabeth A.

Never thought vintage wines would have a difference in taste! They specialize in Cabernet's and I must say they do it very well. However, even their other varietals were tasty - I actually enjoyed their Sparkling Wine. Laurel Glen is definitely worth a visit if you're in the Glen Ellen area. Be sure to make reservations. The tasting room is small and modern, perfect for an intimate wine tasting experience. The team at Laurel Glen are welcoming and SO personable! They do such a wonderful job explaining the wines and their heritage. Can't wait to return!

Call and make an appointment. Came in with a party of 6. We did a tasting of whites and cabs. I personally am a Cab guy. I enjoyed their LGV 2010 Estate. But u did ended up trying the 2007 Estate and that was better imo. There are many different options of wine, from whites to reds, to sparkling whine. Prices range from $55-250 +. Plenty of street parking in lovely Glenn Elen.

Brian the owner was very friendly. Even though he was busy and the only one he was aware of every table. The wine was very good. Came with my brother-in-law and sister so we didn't have to pay for the tasting but the price is not bad starting at $40 to $60 having their library wines. I enjoyed the Blanc Slate Savignon blanc so much that we took a bottle home. Their Sonoma cabs were also very tasty and easy to sip on. Will definetly be back.

After a very quiet day with a very little crowds in Napa's Wine country, my friend and I crossed the Mayacamas via Oakville grade and landed in Glenallen. I saw the sign for Laurel Glen Vineyard tasting room and we decided to drop in and check it out. Though the sign says they are open by appointment only, they were open this evening and we're happy to receive us. The pair of us were half of the customers tasting that evening. We both did a full tasting, and had the full attention of a very nice man who explained the wise and answered all of our questions. My friend and I especially enjoyed the white wine, Sauvignon Blanc, and then didn't bring home a couple of bottles. It was not in an expensive tasting but it was well worth it to not be in a crowded room (looking at you Prager Port works!) With plenty of elbow room and a relaxed atmosphere.

Excellent Cab based wine!! for only $40

Brought my cousins and some friends in here for a tasting and Brian took care of us. There were more wines than I thought to taste here - we did some vertical tasting (different vintages of the same wine) and everything was excellent. I carried Laurel Glen in different restaurants over the years and it's always been a well structured, rich layered wine with good mature berry fruit. And tasting these different vintages, plus a more pocket friendly wine named, Counterpoint, was Outstanding. Highly Recommend! Call for an appointment - Brian or Alex will be your host/hostess, their knowledge is excellent, and it's a truly classy experience. I scheduled the appointment with Jacqueline on the phone and she made recommendations for MacLaren https://www.maclarenwine.com/ and La Rochelle http://www.lrwine.com/ to which both had Exquisite wine and wonderful people.

Happy as a clam, wine tasting at Laurel Glen :-)

What a great tasting room with great wines and friendly people. No appointments necessary, we walked right in on a Friday afternoon and was warmly welcomed by the tasting room team. The atmosphere was very relaxed and laid back. We sat outside under their lovely shaded tables and taste some amazing wines! Our host was incredibly knowledgable and affable. She gave us generous pours and never made us feel pressured to make a purchase. She even gave us recommendations of other wineries to check out. She told us a lot about the Sonoma/Napa areas and was even familiar with WA wineries (told her I hailed from Seattle). Their rose was so delicious and refreshing. Their cabs were amazing as well, I especially enjoyed their counterpoint cab. Such big fruit and great body. I love big cabs, and they do them just right. They gave us a two for one tasting deal and waived the fee with a purchase. More than worth it! Definitely check this place out if you are in the Sonoma area!

Their vineyards on the wall look great.

You'll give it five when you can sit and relax in the easy comfort of this modern style space. I'm biased as I was there for an industry happening as opposed to a "tasting." Plus, if I give it 5 stars that's cheating- Look, wine is a subjective thing....why do Yelp peeps rate the wine based on their own made up whimsy----look I'm not Gary V or Bob Parker, I love not to define the wine-- that's your privilege --- and I'm quite certain that's OK. I digress--- Very nice Rosé...hmmm it's best pairing would be poolside methinks! Oh the cabs...the cabs...*eyes gaze towards the heavens* I'd do them over and over again. (Sigh!) If I were you, I'd get off hwy 12 and call for an appointment. Get out of the car and loose the lines of people. I hate to say it but Glen Ellen is where it's at, but please, we don't want the rest of those people to know so only tell your cool friends, alright? What's in it for YOU??? You'll want to take all three wines home, you'll learn a little something new, and you'll probably leave Laurel Glen Winery feeling much better about yourself as a person...I'm kidding.... But you will leave happy and more importantly, you'll be happy to come back! Cheers!

Last week I removed a bottle of 2012 Laurel Glen Cabernet Sauvignon from my wine cellar which the winemaker (Randall Watkins) had gifted to me earlier in the year.

Our server, Patrick, was personable, knowledgeable, and truly went above and beyond. He gave us a great understanding of the history of the family winery as well as the nuances of the various wines. He never made us feel rushed, and we enjoyed sitting outside, taking in the beautiful views--and watching the tractor tours pass by--while we tasted. Patrick even shared side-by-side trios of Chardonnays and Cabernet Sauvignons to highlight differences in winemaking methods, vineyard sites, and soils, which made for a particularly interesting and educational tasting experience. In fact, it was every bit as informative and enjoyable as other tasting experiences we've had that were far more expensive, more formal, and required advance reservations.    The tasting room also features a wonderful selection of gifts and specialty items. By the end of our visit, we left with three bottles of wine (2025 Frank Johnson Sauv Blanc and two 2022 Three Blocks Cab Sauvs) along with several gifts and mementos. Benziger has a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere and is both kid and pet-friendly. We also stopped by their sister winery, Imagery, afterward and found it to be another Sonoma gem. We wouldn't hesitate to return to either.

Ok. Noted. Now we are with Gerardo... He tells us we "get to" taste these wines and we ask for the white burgundy skipping the viognier. Other clients are tasting the sparkling which we just got an email about so we ask and he says we are getting an extra pour. Ummm we'd like to try before we buy is that a crazy expectation? And so we continue on. Meanwhile the other bartenderis offering other people side by side of the barbera and the upper ridge barbera to taste what they like...not us. When I commented that I do enjoy French champagne he said it's made in the same style and he has a bottle at home that he might drink for New Year's. Ok cool. He had zero wine knowledge. Didn't tell us much about the wines. And wanted us to purchase but was limiting our tastes and experience. Another couple arrived who noticed an error on their invoice and he could t figure out how to correct it and had to enlist the help of someone else. The final straw was we asked to taste the rose and he said it's not open today but then we saw other folks try it from the same fridge. Very odd. Didn't feel like there was a benefit to being in the club. He closed with telling us he needs to go to lunch so what are we buying? I've been here many times before and enjoyed the patio and the inside table with the fireplace and cute gift options. Today he made me question whether I would return. I don't think that the wine industry is doing really well so an experience like this is very off putting.

I appreciated the personal attention, but it became a bit uncomfortable as the staff member sat with us between pourings. I would have liked the option to take our time drinking the wines, but I felt uncomfortable and slightly rushed as this person sat with us and did not always speak te whole time. We did arrive 30 minutes late due to the Tock app (reservation app) guiding us to the wrong location. We called Hamel to notify them and the person said they would wait for us, but I detected a bit of a tone. I also emailed Tock, which they responded quickly but basically said that they investigated it and it was basically an issue on Apple's side of things. No acknowledge of the inconvenience this had on me and my husband. We did receive a very tasty appetizer made by their world-renowned chef, but the wine fell short in my opinion. It seemed a bit watered down with little flavor overall. The wine is very expensive along with the wine tasting. Ultimately, I think you're paying for the view, experience and the cost of those new buildings.
