We recently had the most wonderful visit here at the very family and dog friendly Larson Family Winery. We really enjoyed the outdoor partially covered fireplace heated outdoor dining space with beautiful seating and plenty of air flow despite 3/4 walls covering the area. We also enjoyed the generous and delicious wine flights. A bonus was being greeted at the car by the friendly family winery dog Rocky and the goats and how the menu items were brought to the table with helpful napkins, utensils and plates as unwrapped products (Mt Tam cheese wheel from Cowgirl Creamery and Truffle Brie from French Marin with a full charcuterie sampler, all in their original packaging as though we had just popped into a market) and we even got to enjoy a beautiful history of the winery and family. We are so looking forward to visiting this Covid Era Safety Considerate property again and only regret forgetting to buy bottles after having such a good time but plan to come back again to enjoy an afternoon and also buy some of your delicious wine again soon. read more

Such a cute family owned place and the workers were even cuter. They have pups walking around and it seemed children friendly. We sat outdoors and just enjoyed the smells and happy people chatter. We had cheese, crackers, and wine which were both delightful. Oh we tried some chocolate that is a must. read more

We walked in around 3pm on a Saturday. It was a little bit busy. Only outdoor seating. Our male staff who helped pour our wine flights was nice. The flights were on the pricey side, but the wines weren't very good. Flights were $35 or $45 depending which one you choose. They were either bland, earthy, or tannic. If you like those kind of wines, then this place is for you. The 2 chardonnays and gewürztraminer were passable. Dog friendly. They also charge $40 extra to sit in those cabana, couch, and the moving table thing. No thanks lol. read more

We had fun, it is a quiet place with a lot of seating spaces and a nice place to hang out with the family, kids had fun playing with the games outside, service was nice & the lady was very welcoming with a smile :) , no pressure to order right away like other places, we had 2 bottles of their super sweet white cold wine & we all loved it. We went on Monday & it was quiet, not sure how it looks on a weekend. But worth the visit & prices are so affordable. read more

This place is amazing and family, friendly! Which is exactly what I was looking for after taking our toddlers to train down. We were able to bring our own food and have enough space for the kids to run and hang out. The wine was tasty and very reasonably priced with plenty of shade and good ambience. Off the beaten path and would definitely go back. read more

This is such a great little winery. We've been here a couple of time the past couple of years and always have a good time. The first time we visited we joined their wine club. Yesterday was our second visit and our host was a funny and informative guy. The wines here are well made, whether it's their Sauv Blanc, Chard, or Cab. Great winery! We came here after being disappointed by Anaba, right down the street, and the 4 of us were so much happier with our experience at Larson. We had so much cheese and crackers that we couldn't even eat it all, and the wines were all very good. The service was excellent, and it's pet friendly too. Everything was priced pretty darn cheap too! Would definitely recommend it here. read more

I plan on returning to Larson Family Winery often! Such a relaxed beautiful place to sit and enjoy wine, the view, cheese and bread, and a great playlist in comfortable seating with your favorite humans and fur kids!! They have a wide variety of wine so you can easily find a varietal that you like and the tastings are very reasoanbly priced (most $35). Who charge's site fees? THIS WINERY DOES. This is ludicrous. At $32.55 per person, you typically get 4-6 pours of wine. But here, you get charged cover fees for stepping foot. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. There are over 400 wineries in Napa & Sonoma. Take your business elsewhere. Learn from OUR mistake. At a nice seated winery like Duckhorn - you pay $65 for a seated pour of 5-7 high quality wine along with crackers and cheese. In comparison to Larson, you literally have to holler and FIND or locate your wine server. They don't even educate you about each bottle. I am very upset to be charged $67 per person with POOR SERVICE. We had to ask for multiple bottles of water (2 was served) for 16 people. Be proactive! read more

I was in the area so came here for a walk-in tasting. I enjoyed their wines and the Chardonnay blew me away. I bought a few bottles for Thanksgiving. Service was quite slow, I couldn't even finish my tasting, and the guy was new so it was a bit difficulty to pick wines, etc. Never the less, I saw lots of dogs and kids there, so it seamed an amazing place to bring the family, and I definitely would go again. Plus, I was happy they allowed walk-ins obviously, so appreciated that. Come by if you're in the area. read more

Recently came here on a Saturday for a little birthday celebration and this wonders was seriously so relaxing. I came here with my husband and my toddler and infant and it seemed like every table there had a kid in the party. It's always so great whenever I find a kid friendly winery. That feels like a rarity in Napa Valley. I am happy to have found this winery. It is a laid back atmosphere and has great drinks and a variety of snacks. The winery had a small farm of animals which was great for kids to check out as well as space for yard games. I would recommend this winery to anyone in the Sonoma area! read more

A pretty laid back winery that is great for kids as well as dogs. Can't go wrong with a winery that is dog friendly. The wine was pretty tasty, but the service was a bit on the slower side, but this place was actually pretty busy. I was surprised as to how busy it was to be honest. COVID seems to be a thing of the past it seems. Overall, a family friendly spot if you like wine and would suggest it for the more laid back experience. read more

More than a decade ago, we started to go to Larson Family Winery for Friday afternoon wine tastings. It was always a fun and down to earth experience. Over time we started to see some business changes that were not very friendly and inviting. However, today we decided to give our old fav another try and we're so glad that we did! Once we walked up to the tasting counter we felt at home. We bought some wine and started a pleasant conversation with Hayden. What a great guy. He's so friendly and welcoming. Our local family had a wonderful experience and we plan to start bringing our extended family and friends. It's always so sweet to give our business to a family owned winery! Perfect spot to take kids! This very laidback winery was the perfect place to bring our kids to enjoy wine tasting. They have a few goats and sheep out front, as well as a big tractor that was a big hit with the kids. They have nice picnic table outdoor seating that is shaded. We reserved a table in advance but it wasn't too crowded right at opening on a Saturday. There was also cornhole and plenty of room for kids to run around. They also have a few friendly dogs. The wine was delicious and we went home with a few bottles. They had snacks to buy for us to munch on as well. Could have spent all day here! read more

Was first introduced to this place for a corporate outing and fell in love with the place because of their 3 cute adorable labs! Having our own lab - we of course had to come back. The following time we visited with some friends visiting from out of town, the experience was just as great. Our lab loved Ollie, Louie and Roscoe! And had a great time frolicking with them in the yard area. The namesake - 3 lab cab is a definite winner and since signing up for their wine club, have found that we really like the regular cab as well! read more

I love this winery. We stopped by the Friday before Christmas; so it was a little quiet, but I loved it. The staff was knowledgeable + had great recommendation based on our preference. We have been members at Larson for several years. What a wonderful winery for families! With kids unwelcome at so many other wineries, it's great to walk onto the patio at Larson and see an open turf area for kids -- often with toys -- and a giant open field where kids can run around, explore, or play with toys/balls if you brought your gear (yes I keep a "bag 'o balls" in my car for moments like this!). The wine is delicious and the prices are reasonable, especially with the club member discount. Another big plus is proximity to SF. It's one of the closest wineries to the city, making for a super easy day trip. They allow outside food, so book a table and a tasting and have yourself a wonderful picnic while the kids (if any) run amuck. Pro tip: if you're looking for a place to take your kids for photos with Santa, skip the long wait at the mall. Go to Larson instead! read more

I definitely appreciated how unpretentious this winery is compared to others we've tried so far in the area. We came because it was on a list of recommended wineries to visit and I'm glad we came! It was a Sunday and we didn't need reservations for a tasting but it could also be due to the fires/recent air quality. While it was just my husband and I there was a steady stream of families of all sizes. Although we didn't play any, kids definitely seemed to enjoy the games and the two dogs in site. We found out from our host that one of the Labs passed away and that the family is still grieving before they get another. As for the wines themselves, the samples I had were all good. They were running a special so I ended up buying two bottles to have shipped back home and we look forward to enjoying them for the holidays. read more

Nice spot! Dog friendly. There's 3 pups that are part of the winery.. sometimes you'll see one of them laying in the bathroom - so sweet!! I walked in and nearly had a heart attack thinking it was a little bear lol The wine is nice. The overall vibe is very casual which is our style. I wish they played music but other than that, it's a decent spot. read more

We have been coming to Larson Winery off and on for several years and have always enjoyed it...until today! Stopped in today during our return from Bodega Bay, I was beyond disappointed by the experience...to the point that this will be my last time coming here. I feel like I just got robbed...like they put their hands in my wallet and just stole cash from me. $35 tasting fee for 3 small pours of decent, but definitely not amazing wine. For my wife and I, with one bottle to go...$113!!! Ambiance: Felt so depressing. The place suffered a fire of the main tasting room a couple of years ago and seems to still be reeling from the effects. This whole vibe was just off from what we remembered in the past. As others have said, it seems like this place is going downhill. Service: Used to be a smaller tasting fee, and you got 3 tokens, but they were always generous with additional pours so you could try all their wines, and then some. Now it's 3 small pours for $35 or $45 depending on the tasting. Supposed to be 5 pours, but because I only like reds...I just got the 3 with no offer to double up on something to make up for the sparkling and white that I didn't want to partake in. All this served by some fella who just seems depressed and tired of life as well. Everything just felt so humdrum. TL;DR - place in decline after fire, depressing, overpriced, crappy ambiance, feels like they are grasping for straws to survive and they are doing it all WRONG!!! Hopefully management sees this and realizes that they are engineering their own demise if they don't get their heads out of the depression clouds. read more

My family and I use to go to this winery on weekends for a quick getaway from SF Bay. They offer two options of tasting flights with 5 wine options, each; in the past, for each wine they would bring a new wine glass or a tasting flight tray with 5 distinct wine glasses. Last time we visited them, December/2022, they offered us one wine glass to drink all wines of the tasting flight. They did not suggest to "prime" the wine glass, just poured the new wine over the prior one... My assessment now is that they are going downhill in quality and customer service for tasting wine. However, the place is beautiful, the pasture is well maintained, and they are kids & pet friendly, so may worth a visit for those looking for a place to distract kids in an afternoon. read more

I didn't have a good experience at this winery. We started off with a complimentary sparkling wine before bringing us to our table. Once we got there, we all ordered different wine tasting flights, each having 4 or 5 types of wines. After getting the first round, we had to ask for the second tasting because they took so long. We proceeded to have to ask for the rest of the tastings, which was inconvenient since it was hard to get any of the employees' attention. The first wine they served us tasted okay, but the rest of the wine was really warm and I didn't particularly like the taste. We ordered some bread, cheese, and salami and all of it came in the original packaging that it came in. There was nothing wrong with that besides the fact that it was difficult to open and we weren't given a cheese or bread knife to cut the food. We were given plastic knives, but they were insufficient for cutting things. We also were not given enough plates for everyone. By the time they were cleaning up, we still had one more tasting, but they told us that the complimentary sparkling wine we got in the beginning was part of the flight. That was odd considering we hadn't ordered yet when they served us that. We felt that they tried to cheat us out of the last wine tasting. The service was bad, but the staff were friendly. I felt that the woman who served us focused more on the other guests and neglected our table. There was just no reason for the bad service as they seemed adequately staffed and the place was pretty empty. The area was very spread out and cute and I thought it was decorated well. The place has potential since they have corn hole and bocce ball, but the service and quality of their products needs a lot of work. The presentation of everything could use improvement as well, they did not explain and of the wines that were brought out. I do not plan to come back. read more

The Larson Family Winery is a unique wine country experience that you must see for yourself. The land has been in our family since 1899, and was once home to the Sonoma Rodeo. Established in 1987.

Larson Family Winery is located in the Carneros region of Sonoma. The land has been in the family since 1899. Sonoma Creek runs through the property and at one time a steamboat traveled through the creek from San Francisco. The Millerick family started farming and eventually hosted the Sonoma Rodeo here. Tom Larson, the owner, is the son of Helen Millerick and Bob Larson. Grapes were planted here in 1977 and the first vintage of wine was 1987. Today, we have a passion for family, fun and good wine! "We drink what we can and sell the rest"

Winemaker Alex clearly knows what he's doing--his reds are fantastic across the board. The Cabernet, Petit Verdot, and Malbec from that volcanic Lake County fruit are bold, expressive, and incredibly well made. We've been wine club members for years now, which says a lot. When you call and inquire they tell you that non-members can only book on weekdays, so my girls and I made a reservation on a Friday. You pay up front for the total amount of people, which also includes tax and service tip, so when you arrive on the day of your reservation, no payment whatsoever is needed! It was $85, and with tax and service fee it came out to $111 each. When my girls and I arrived, we were greeted by a host named, Justin. She was immensely warm and inviting, basically sunshine in a person, and made us feel so welcome and comfortable!! She poured us a welcome glass of rose, and my girls and I were able to walk around the property (which was truly stunning) with our glasses. When we were seated, we were served rosemary almonds, and our server came up and introduced the history of the venue, as well as the menu, and wine. The menu was set, and it was absolutely incredible. This was the first time I felt as though this experience included an actual MEAL rather than an array of small bites or a small charcuterie platter: 1. fried olives 2. tomatoes and cucumbers with whipped feta (MY FAVORITE) 3. Prosciutto, melon and basil 4. Braised butterbeans with SCRIBE olive oil 5. House-made flatbread (so delicious) The wine was amazing, of course. Buying 2 bottles of wine waives 1 tasting fee. The Dolcetto Nouveau is a chilled red, which I've never had before. Wasn't particularly a fan, but interesting to try nonetheless. We reserved our tasting but they do walk-ins, which we noticed were seated at the bar. So if you'd like your own table, I would make a reservation to be sure. The day we went, we did an indoor tasting because it was so cold, they didn't do any outdoor tastings. The outdoor courtyard is covered, and they have a large event space with some wine barrels that I presume is for wedding receptions. You can walk out to the fountain and vineyards and take pictures.
