Really can't complain about this tasting room located right in Sonoma Plaza - I'm a fan! We stopped in before our reservation at Girl and the Fig to kill a little time and it was perfect. Jonathan was our wine pourer and was gracious enough to pour out on the patio for us. The patio is decently sized, enclosed, and warm! Win win. Jonathan was a good sport as we were wearing fascinators and sequin jackets. He was such a good sport, he tried on our accessories in between pours. I loved the amount of sweet wines they had and the fact your tasting fee is waived if you buy a bottle of wine. Great tasting room and even better service! Entered with the intention of a wine tasting, but ordered glasses of wine instead as we sat in the very back of the outdoor patio and wasn't sure how service would be. We came because my friend said that the wine was a slightly more reasonable price. When we got there, I saw that there was beautiful outdoor seating. Aside from the service, it was a lovely spot. The woman who attended us was awkward and patronizing towards us. On the plus side, we had a refreshing rosé on one of their tables outside while the sun was shining. However, the woman who attended us never brought us water like she brought other patrons, and it took forever to get her attention for the check. I specifically stopped at this tasting room because it was one of the few dog friendly ones in the middle of downtown. I didn't feel like getting into the car since this was the only place I was hitting before heading back home, but I did want to go somewhere I could bring my Lilo! ​ So here I stopped. And I actually had this place pretty much to myself the entire time I was there on a random Tuesday afternoon. Service was very fast and the guy waiting on me was very friendly, giving me time to peruse the menu to see what I wanted. They also bring you out a whole glass bottle of water, which I super appreciated on the hot summer day. ​ They also had a super lovely outside patio area. Pretty and colorful flowers were everywhere around you. Also a great place to just get some wine by the glass (I got the rosé and it was yummy). I was ready to head home, so not looking for a full tasting or a bottle. Just a glass was good and I was able to get that here! After a day of wine tasting, we decided to end in the city before dinner and this place was a great spot to decompress, have some good wine, a shaded area to chill and have some snacks and just have a good time. The location was great, our waiter was smooth and check in but otherwise let us do our thing and it was awesome. We each got a different flight and we each loved the wines and roses and champs we received and it was a good find. They are open seating, cute setting. However service was slow and the pours were small not worth the $40. Only two options for bites. Cheese board for $28, which came in plastic containers, looked like "Togo" and very cold platter as if they have it in the fridge pre-packed. Not worth it. It is worth a trip to the winery! Get to know where the wine is made or just enjoy a great atmosphere. This is where it happens, and a nice place to relax while you get to know the wine one flight at a time. Located close to The Girl & The Fig, we stopped here before our dinner reservations and ended up LOVING Roche. Staff was super familial, casually introducing us to the owner (who was there wine tasting with friends!) and making us feel so comfy. The have the best wine club rules, so we actually ended up signing up with no requirement to buy quarterly wine. The wine itself is really good. The Tamarix is amazing, and the most perfectly sweet wine I've ever tasted. My husband enjoyed some chardonnay, and we stayed all the way until closing. A definite visit when in Sonoma! read more

This was the perfect spot to start our Sonoma adventure! Our group of 10 rolled up on a Friday afternoon and were greeted by Gene. She was a total gem who reccomended an unoaked chardonnay for us to try. At $24 a bottle we decided to get two and skip the tasting and enjoy the wine outside. While it was hot af outside, they have fans and misters which made it super comfortable. Gene was really friendly, and even offered us towels soaked in ice water to beat the heat. She was the real MVP! The winery itself has a small tasting bar, and a charming little shop with home decor, snacks, and local goodies. A tasting will run you either $20-$30 depending on what you choose - but like we did, you can opt to just grab a bottle and enjoy. read more

We just stumbled on this winery in their new spot! Oh my word were we blown away! They make incredible Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and others. Fell in love with the Tamarix. If you're in the mood for something light and fruity, I would highly suggest the 2018 Tamarix. We managed to sneak in a reservation, so they honored a tasting. Sense of Place - The atmosphere is casual but smart enough to feel like an actual tasting. Wines - We had two "reserve tastings." Pricing is amazing for what they offer; $40/per. We chose the following, given that we had two of them: Sparkling - Rose. Our Airbnb host recommended Roche so we decided to check it out. We weren't disappointed! Prices are reasonable and walk-in availability is plentiful, despite social distancing. Tables are seated well enough apart outdoors, so we didn't feel worried at all. We ordered 2 family flights--your server will bring each selection out one by one, so you're able to enjoy them without distractions. We liked our choices so much that we decided to purchase two bottles, also very reasonably priced. If you buy two bottles, one flight gets comped! They are open during covid, seating is very limited. They do not take reservations for walk in even though it says walk in reservations? You have to wait in front of the tasting room to get seated, they won't take your name down so you can walk around. Not a lot of shade so it kinda sucks to wait. The Chardonnay was one of the better wines I tasted from here, the description given in the menu is accurate. Slightly sweet and very smooth. The merlot and Pinot noir weren't all that. The Pinot noir had a Smokey taste to it, wasn't a fan but I'm sure it was the tobacco in it. Merlot also had Smokey taste, not a fan either. Syrah was good but had a lot of residue at the bottom of my glass so it made me think the wine had been sitting in bottle for a while. Over all, it's an okay place to go if you have nothing better to do. read more

This place is hip! The music was energizing and fun with some top 40 samples the day we went, which worked well for our millennial two top. Laid back vibe right off the plaza but creates its own special feel of being out of place and time-- classy but not pretentious. Our sommelier was the best-- great storyteller and timed between pours with great attention, making recommendations for next ups as we went along-- and offered that (if we felt comfortable doing so since we were such close friends though I recognize this isn't for everyone esp in these crazy times) we could share glasses in order to sample double the menu-- so we ended up with 8 tastes instead of 4 off the reserve menu. We sat on the veranda which caught a breeze and offered shade on a warmer day. I'm only removing a star because the cheese plates and chocolate pairings aren't really pairings; you can grab them self serve from the cooler bar (though maybe I missed something if you reserve and request ahead but this is also just me being overly bougie; I had to walk my slightly buzzed legs over there mid flight to see what was up-- no big deal, seriously, but the chairs are also really comfortable so it felt like a concerted choice. I'm ridiculous I know... that's just the 100 level they were getting me to! :cheering glasses emoji:). And I'm mentioning this because we added the Pinot and Merlot truffles made and packaged by Wine Country Chocolates down the way-- highly recommend you do this!! The chocolates were supreme. Even my friend who said they wouldn't have any ended up dishing on them, though I think one box (which is 2 truffles) is fine for 2 people to share cuz they gave us a knife to cut them with so we each tried both. A couple of our reserve selections were pretty earthy for my taste and the chocolate was a perfect choice to balance. I also want to note we dropped in only an hour+ before our reservation at girl and the fig next door and they were able to accommodate with perfect timing, but we were also just a party of 2 on a weekday afternoon so if you're looking to leisure longer or have a larger party, or on a weekend, it may be who to reserve ahead. I live in Sonoma and walk by here often and this place gets pretty bumpin'! Glad I was finally able to come here to lighten up a long day spent wfh with a lot of blue light in my face and meetings that could have been emails.
