Man, I really wanted this review to be a five star but unfortunately that is not the case. Service was pretty slow, we waited almost 20 mins to even get a drink order in. By the time we put in our food order it was just over a half hour after being seated. 2 out of four dishes were hot but mine and my husband's were cold. The place was hopping with folks and we were trying get our servers attn but she was too busy. We just ate our food cold and toast with no jam. We will not be coming back.

Had brunch at Verano Café in Sonoma on a sunny Saturday morning. It's about ten minutes from the main square, so a bit of a drive. No big views but the patio is nice. The food was pretty basic, kind of like a diner. I had the New York steak and the chicken and waffle. It was alright, not great, not terrible. There are definitely better brunch spots in Sonoma. The best part was the service. The ladies working there were really friendly and welcoming. Overall, an okay spot if you want something casual, just don't go in expecting the best brunch of your life.

Eggs Benedict

Stopped in early on a weekday and snagged the last table; this seems to a busy locals spot. I am no local, so maybe a missed the magic, but I left unimpressed and $100 poorer. The order for two: - Eggs Benedict (3.5/5): not bad, but very small. Hollandaise was yummy, but the ham was cut too small to last for all bites. The side of potatoes was gross, and I am one of potato's biggest fans- to leave a potato behind on my plate is unheard of, and I left all but two. - Pancakes (4/5): the highlight of the meal. Fluffy, served with butter. Can't complain! - Breakfast sandwich (3/5): The eggs were overcooked and a little burnt, the meat was substituted for bacon and only received a few pieces. With tax and tip, I spent over $100 which is in insane cost for two people eating a mediocre breakfast. We left, driving by another breakfast spot down the road, kicking ourselves that we didn't stop there!

The quintessential question: breakfast or lunch? Very hard to choose at this cute cafe. Breakfast burrito? Benedict? Chilaquiles? Everything on the menu looked delicious as it passed us going to other tables. I ended up choosing a BLT and adding avocado because why not. The tarragon mayo really made this! As did the homemade bread. This was a perfect BLT. Oh, and get the Caesar salad side....none of that "I just opened a bag of spring mix" nonsense that most places dump onto your place. My husband was delighted to see a croque madame on the menu. Many happy noises as he ate. Can't wait to come back.

A cute little café, we walked our dogs and found a place to sit down and eat. It was freezing outside. The staff promptly seated us switched on this space heater and got us some piping hot coffee. They were also gracious enough to customize my food to add egg whites all in all great experience would come back again.

Everything was amazing the flavors the food. My only complaint was I had extremely hot plate, but my crêpe was rather lukewarm except for one spot? Tells me that the crate was out for a while and waiting for the rest of the ingredients so that's my own it still has a great flavor. It was just not that hot.

Lemon Pancakes

When we arrived, we were greeted with a smile and shown to the table. We always sit at! We picked out our order and our waiter told us about their lemon pancakes! The food was hot and amazing! Lemon pancakes are worth a trip out in this cold weather! It was very cold when we came in, but as we were sitting there, the staff was busy working on getting the heater going and things warmed up quite quickly! The music was a little loud but not too bad... still one of my favorite places to come for breakfast!

Patio area

Farm fresh delicious eggs Benedict & excellent service! Super cute outdoor patio area as well We are in from Houston, TX and stopped in for breakfast on our way to Tahoe. Worth the stop!

Finally, made it to the Verano Cafe and was beyond pleased. This cute little rustic chic cafe with a nice little outdoor patio was a real delight for this foodie whose favorite dining is an excellent breakfast or brunch and this place didn't disappoint! Every aspect from the welcoming atmosphere to the best eggs Benedict and first-class service and hospitality was excellent! The secret is out so might be best to make reservations. My new favorite spot.

Mango and passion fruit mimosas

First time here and the staff were very welcoming with big smiles. Very cute, small and quaint. Couple parking spots in the back for customers. Mimosas were delicious with a choice of 6 flavors. Food was great! Chicken and waffles are amazing! There was a surprising/refreshing hint of ginger. Would definitely order that over and over again. Breakfast combo was a little greasy and hot link was slightly over done. But the flavors were all there. Nice peaceful brunch spot with lovely service!

Sure I was interested in some food but it was also a football Sunday and I wanted a cold frosty beer to celebrate my hike and the start of my roadtrip. I don't do strict planning when it comes to eating and drinking. I often find it more intriguing when serendipity plays a hand. I'm walking down this town's main retail square, insured something was within reach. I pass by this unassuming dive bar with no signage but very well laid out inside. It was surprisingly quiet for a weekend afternoon in a touristy spot. Friendly bartender asked me what I wanted. But I ask first if I could get our local football game on and if they served food. Game yes said it would be on within minutes. Food unfortunately no but there were tons of options outside the door. Ordered a cold lager on tap from the east coast. The lager was light cold and refreshing. I think I finished it within minutes. Tender was quick to ask for a refill, love that. I next get a beer refill, and a Jameson on the rocks to quietly sip on, as I was now committed to watching the first half there. Very impressive glass and pour on the Irish whisky. I take a few sips but finish my beer, but this time much longer to down as I wasn't so parched now. I sip the rest of the whisky but now well diluted from the cold ice, which makes it so much more smooth to me. It opens the spirit, takes away the heat and blooms the flavors. My second round took over an hour. Then halftime hits in the game with a close score, even though my team did not look good. I tell the bartender that I'll close out to look for some lunch. By this time the bar was filling up. 3 perfectly timed drinks for well under $10 bucks a pop just sent me on my long weekend on a sweet note. I found food around the corner where they had a tv and I was able to watch the remaining of the game there. If no TVs were found, I would have gone back to the bar to finish the game. I was still pleased with my short experience there. Small town watering hole encapsulated.

Don't laugh but after I wrote this we went back in the morning, yes morning. They open at 6:30am! We made it there more like 9:00am and had Irish Coffee and Lagunitas Willellised Coffee (13.1%!). Watched a bit of the Drew Barrymore Show and chatted with the locals sitting alongside us at the bar.

My goto dinner spot in Sonoma…read more I actually have been here multiple times and I don't know what has taken me so long to post a review but the Girl and the Fig is definitely the truth. When you enter you'll notice a more homey decor to the place. Warm colors all around and even warmer service once you sit down. Every single experience Ive had here is been nothing less of 110%. Theres always this good balance professionalism with lightheartedness that pair so well for the atmosphere. Because at its core this restaurant is high scale. It definitely has that higher scale vibe but if never comes off as pretentious though. This particular I took my wifey here for our 10th year anniversary together. And we were greeting by a nice little card from the "Fig Family." We ended up trying the Seared Halloumi and I was shocked at how much I liked it. Very light flavors but still enough variety with the crispy spigarello and pine nuts to keep things fun. The lemon never feels too overwhelming. For mains my wife got the Mushroom RisottoI think? Or maybe it was Butternut Squash Risotto? I got the Fig Burger and both were amazing. The only reason I didn't get her Risotto was simply because I already had it at lunch time, but that still didn't stop me from taking a bite. Each rice like grain had a perfect chew and flavor to each bite. Even being the picky person that I am with veggies, I appreciated the veggies addition to the dish. I still think though that the sure winner was my Fig Burger. This burger is everything we wish our local breweries burger was. A harmonic balance between salty and sweet. Im down to get a little crazy with burgers but if it's too sweet, it kinda loses the appeal for me. It takes away too much from the burgers roots. So yea. Go here. Make reservations too. I know for myself I made mine about a month in advance so it's hard to say how hard it is to get a table here. But hopefully it's not too bad. Parking by the way is just street parking. Despite that Ive always been able to get a park on W Spain St right before I pull up to the restaurant. OH! And thanks again Girl and the Fig family! You made the end to our anniversary quite magical!

In fact the whole experience was great. There was a short line when I went for lunch. I finally got up to the register and asked the last of she like the brisket or the Philly sandwich better? "Ooooohh that is a tough one - I like them both. Philly is a hit more food but flavorful but the brisket is good and probably one of our most popular sandwiches." Nice!!! And how is the Mac and cheese? "people love it but it is a bit cheesy just so you know". Ok so let me get the brisket sandwich, the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and the Mac and cheese. "You want all of it?" YEP!! So I have to say both sandwiches were good but the brisket was the winner for me. The brisket was very flavorful, juicy, spiced right. I should have listened to her on the Mac and cheese. Way too cheesy for me. What also tipped this over to a 5 star review is Dora (I hope I got the name right). What a sweet kind amazing woman. She gave me my food when the buzzer went off. I told her I didn't need the second silverware set as it wa a just me. "All this for you?" YEP!! Ok fine I will take an advance on a to-go box. She checked on me. She grabbed my plate (wood plank). She was really great. So thank you! I will be back. Check this place out.
