"Feelin' Peachy", a beer, and a couple glasses of champagne later, our table was ready. We were seated near the pond and seriously, between that, the vineyard view, and the perfect NorCal weather, it was a lovely start to our experience at Salt & Stone! Service was excellent - server was efficient and engaging. We started with BBQ oysters and truffle fries. Hubby felt the oysters were filled with too much BBQ sauce which overpowered the taste and flavor. The "truffle" fries were crispy, nice and garlicy, loved the truffle aioli. (Missed the truffle flavor on the fries themselves, but they were still good.) My steak was super tender, the blue cheese demi was stronger than I like so I'd get that on the side next time, loved the wine salt. Mashed potatoes were creamy and those carrots - I swear - I don't know why I don't make those more often. They were perfectly cooked, loved every bite! Every month a group of "supper club" girlfriends and I pick a restaurant to try. I was super excited to try this place since I had heard such great things about it. We sat outside next to the pond so ambiance was excellent. Our waiter Carlos was also excellent...fun & attentive. The food was another story. We ordered 3 appetizers - calamari, truffle fries & brussel sprouts. All were good, not great. My caesar salad was overdressed and soggy. I ordered Petrale Sole since I don't make fish much at home. I was completely underwhelmed. Portion size was good, but the fish came with a thick glop of sauce on top that was flavorless. To try and flavor it up I had to squeeze 4 lemon wedges on top. Still thick & flavorless. Rice pilaf was mid at best. Veggies were the best part of the dish. I left most of my dish untouched. Then we ordered the apple galette, carrot cake & flourless chocolate torte to share. Galette was fabulous, carrot cake a bit dry & torte was cloyingly sweet. Ambiance, location and scenery are all great but..... We dined here last night but arrived 15 minutes early. We were told to go sit at the bar and wait. There was nobody in the dining room so not sure why they couldn't seat us a little early. Everything took way too long. Service was slow, it took about 15 minutes to be served our appetizers and 30 minutes to serve our dinner. Our server came by once to check on us and then again an hour later to ask if we were finished. I paid 48 dollars for a ribeye steak that was 1/2 inch thick. Presentation of our dinner was atrocious. It looked like they just slopped a pile of food on our plate. The mashed potatoes were filled with chunks of potato that didn't get mashed. I don't think I'll be returning. The servers were very nice and there were a lot of them moving about the place so I'm not sure why everything took so long. For the amount I spent, next time I'll just travel a little further for better service and a better steak for the money. read more

Flew into Santa Rosa to head into Mendocino for the weekend and stopped at Salt and stone for breakfast. We chose to sit outside, which was very beautiful and pleasant. There was a pond with beautiful Lilly pads and koi fish. The servers were very kind and attentive, and frequently checked in to see if there was anything they could get us. My boyfriend and I shared 2 plates. The best of both worlds! We shared a mushroom omelette and a French toast. The server mentioned it would be an addition small fee to split the plates, which we mentioned we were ok if they weren't split. We had an outstanding, beautiful night here! We sat right near the Koi pond with beautiful lotus flowers and were greeted by the friendly Koi! We had the salmon, shrimp and scallop, short rib, steak, and a steak with pasta, and every dish was cooked with care and delicious! The steak with pasta was slightly too well-done but still delicious. We had appetizers:liver pate, duck, Brussels sprouts and octopus, and every one was fantastic! The octopus was so tender! I was unfortunately underwhelmed with my dish, the linguini with clams. The sauce was so watery and tasteless except for a generic spicy taste, which just made my noodles and clams feel rubbery. My friends said the prawn/scallop tagliatelle was also not that great - they had to add lots of salt and lemon. Another girl got the chicken dish, which was actually pretty good. We had a wonderful experience at Salt & Stone this weekend. Not only does S&S have one of the most beautiful outdoor patios in Sonoma County it also has amazing food. My first time here was back in 2020, and it was the first restaurant we ate at since the covid pandemic began. We sat by that beautiful pond, ate Surf & Turf, and were so thankful to be dining at a restaurant again. Since then this has been my go-to place for special occasion dinners and when I want a delicious filet mignon. On this visit, we started the burrata appetizer and their delicious bread and butter. The burrata appetizer has changed over the years, but its current form is very good. I do miss the crostini that it used to come with, but the balsamic reduction and the basil infused oil make this a great dish. The heirloom tomatoes were really fresh and the cucumber and arugula were nice and crispy. I always love the bread here along with the lava-salted butter. They also have a special, house made Cabernet salt at the table. The bread is free, which very few places still do that. For entrees, we ordered the filet mignon and the Meatloaf Tagliatelle (a special of the day). The filet mignon is always excellent, tender, and perfectly cooked. The red wine reduction and the blue cheese whipped butter bring the steak to a different level as well. The meatloaf tagliatelle was great. It wasn't necessarily my favorite meatloaf ever, but it had great flavors. The pasta and the sauce were awesome. For dessert, we had the special Toasted Coconut cheesecake. If they happen to have this dish on your visit here then make sure to get it. It was delicious. Unless you don't like coconut. I also want to shout out to the fantastic service here. Valentines lunch at Salt and Stone was a good call. Our travel time from Napa took about 35 minutes along the scenic route of Hwy 12. We were promptly seated as we had made prior reservations and I'm glad we did as the people trickled in and soon enough the place was busy. Our server was polite, nice and attentive. We started off with 6 oysters, crab cakes. The crab cakes were good, the oysters not so much. My Louie salad is good nothing much to rave about. I wish I ordered something more than that. This was my 1st time here and I really enjoyed myself. The venue is very nice both indoors and out. There is a nice pond in the center of the outside seating area. Andrew was my server and he was a joy. Very attentive and helpful. I had the cauliflower soup with bacon, from the specials menu, then the strawberry and mango salad, small oysters, followed by the pork belly appetizer. I came here with three golf buddies for a quick lunch and ordered a burger with extra pickles. The burger arrived with no pickles, and when I asked, our server explained that the restaurant was out and that the chef had told her not to mention it. I realize they're only pickles, but I wouldn't have ordered the burger had I known. Also, it's strange that the chef instructed her not to tell me (like I wouldn't notice)? Customers should be told when something they specifically request isn't available so they can choose something else. I've been spending annual mini -vacays here in this valley for decades and I only stumbled onto this great wine country resto just this year. And so glad I did cuz now I wouldn't mind in including them in each visit from here on out. It rained on this particular trip in the fall months and even for a weeknight dinner, this place was still quite poppin' with mostly locals. That speaks volume. Since it was raining no one was sitting on their heavily landscaped patio with koi pond and vineyard glimpses. I still took a look out there just to get a sense for possible future outs, and it's a major greenlight. Started with a local Pils that I had never ran into: Cuver Bell Road's Pilsner. I had just finished a wine tasting just down the street and after tasting several types of wine, my mouth just gets kinda fatigued from the tannins and bold acid of wines. When I took a sip of this crisp Pils, it was the refreshment break my palate was waiting for, so...damn...perfect. Probably one of the best Pils I've ever had, not brewed on that side of the pond. I'm already searching on how I can get this into my home fridge. Trust. French Onion Soup ($12/5*) Since it was a grey and rainy day, it seemed almost everyone in the bar area had a bowl of this under their face. I haven't had this soup in ages and it just hit so perfectly on this evening. Perfect natural beef broth that wasn't too salty and studded with super tender caramelized juiliennes of onion that each bite so comforting and warming. And a big crouton which softens quickly sitting atop that onion-y broth and a thick layer of ooey gooey gruyere completely melted onto the toast, so as you took a bite of that cheese-y crouton a huge cheese pull ensued. Messy, hearty, satisfying. Probably THE best French Onion Soup I've had, and I've had it from many French bistros. Crisp Skin Salmon ($30/4*) Okay the salmon part was perfectly executed. Interior of the salmon was tender and moist, and the skin was crazy crispy like potato chip crispy. I love when chefs leave the skin on fish dishes and even more impressive when they can elevate it. Very simply seasoned that even though I enjoyed the simplicity, I felt it could have had an extra element to make it pop, like some herbs or a light sauce of some sort. This salmon sat atop some risotto that was heavily mingled with fresh corn. I think they took fresh corn, pureed it until it got all creamy so they basically had creamed corn. Then they used that to enrich the risotto. Great vibrant corn flavor but the rice to me just seemed more like wet rice versus risotto. Also there were just some halved raw grape tomatoes around the dish, which did add a pop of acidity and some color to the dish, but just felt the dish really could have used a significant vegetable component, like chard, broccolini or haricot verts. But still an enjoyable fish dish. Too full for actual dessert so I just had one of their Old Fashioned for a night cap. Theirs has a dab of marmalade to it and does make it fruity sweet. I enjoyed the sips but liked it more after I poured a splash of cold water into the drink, it made it more juicy and not so tight and hot. An awesome find and add to my Sonoma wine country trips. Just good ol fashioned wine country food without getting all tweezerfied and obscure. Fits me well, cheers and see you again! read more

Where do we start, oh that's right. Let talk about the delicious aroma as soon as you enter their parking lot. You can smell top tier food cooking in the air. The place is packed busy with customers, servers, managers, and hostesses. It is live, upbeat atmosphere yet relaxing and serene. Love the outdoor seating near their coifish pond with floating lotus flowers. It's super busy so if this is where you'd like to sit near- be sure to state that in your reservation. We set reservation online and our table was ready upon arrival. The food- easy 10/10, their butter! Don't know what they put in that thing, but the best butter we've had! The scrumptious lobster tail dipped in that butter will have your eyes rolling back. The filet mignon cooked to perfection was another filling prize on the plate. Along side with mash potatoes and grilled veggies- the dish was over the top satisfying. We had some zero proof cocktails as I'm withchild and they were also really good. The service was super, the managers also walked from table to table to ensure every guest was enjoying their time and meal. Overall, great experience. Had a chance to retry this restaurant, especially after Stella opened. Food was good, ambience great and service ok. It was a bit breezy outside but what a beautiful setting with the lily pad filled pond and beautiful evening. Service was ok as there were large gaps in service. But they did honor our request for pacing of appetizers, then salads and mains. The baked casino oysters were wonderful and truffle fries good. They even split our salads(which were huge). The seafood pasta was good, filet excellent, blackened snapper good and seafood stew good. We were stuffed and didn't have any room for dessert. Btw the outside chairs are very uncomfortable! This place is a gem! From the service to the location. My boyfriend and I found this randomly on our drive to my work event which was right across the road from Kunde Winery. We had plenty of time before the event so we stopped by to get a glass of wine and a few appetizers to share. We got the calamari, cooked garlic and parsley oysters and raw oysters. My boyfriend and I both agreed that we could have ordered a handful of the cooked oysters, they were that delicious! I don't usually like my oysters to be large but these were just incredibly. Along the beautiful drive between Sonoma and Santa Rosa on Highway 12 is Salt and Stone. It was a warm evening and we wanted to sit outside and enjoy the view of vineyards and mountains. It's been one of our go to places when we host friends from out of town and this was an amazing meal. Our waitress was extremely nice about giving us time to catch up while we ordered drinks, starters and main entrees at separate times. The peppered burrata and oysters were a great start, the freshness of the oysters as it is nearing the end of the season. The green olive tapenade gave a salty and savory texture with the creamy burrata on a crisp crostini. For mains, the short rib was cooked beautifully, melting in my mouth with just the right amount of fat left on the meat to add flavor and not feel too chewy. The polenta was rich in color with a slightly sweet element that paired well. The sole was breaded to perfection and the filet was flaky. The only thing I'd want to add is a touch more salt on the fish itself as it tasted as though the lemon caper beurre blanc was carrying the flavor of the dish. The Calabrian Linguini was rich with the garlic and herb sauce. The clams were cooked well and there was plenty in there to fill one's appetite. We had no room for dessert unfortunately, but we were satisfied with a great meal as always. read more

My girlfriend and I celebrated New Year's Eve with a visit to Salt & Stone. This is one of her favorite fine dining experiences. We were greeted by Niambi, a friendly server who has a sense of humor and is easy to communicate with. She was prompt about helping me navigate my dietary restrictions and my girlfriend described her as "charming." I got the Brussel Sprouts, which were perfectly cooked. There was delicious complimentary bread which we ate three plates of, we are ashamed to admit. My girlfriend got the Lobster Bisque and New York Strip. She called them "muy delicioso." The space was a cozy respite from the rainy day. Our table spacious. The lighting was warm. There is a beautiful bar where I will certainly get a drink from next time I come in. We were heading to Healdsburg for wine tasting and came here and lucked out on happy hour (11-5 pm M-F) and ordered from their happy hour menu which was pretty amazing. One thing I would say with sitting outdoors was there were plenty of flies and gnats that became overwhelming at times and annoying (even with the help of a fly fan). I did ask for water a couple of times and never got and they might've forgotten. I would also recommend that the server be more mindful about clearing empty plates from the table to create more space when bringing out new food. read more

I was hosting a group of 16 people for a day of wine tasting the Sonoma area and we came here for lunch. We did arrange the reservation ahead of time and just had to put a credit card down to hold it. We ended up not doing a private room reservation but actually ended up in their side room all by ourselves. It ended up being a really great meal. Food and service were wonderful. Everyone loved their food. We had all kinds of things - burgers, oysters, onion soup, salads, pastas... you name it, we ate it. I did the Dungeness Crab Louie Salad: Baby Lettuce, Romaine, Avocado, Boiled Egg (I held the egg), Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumber, Broccolini, Olives, Louie Dressing. The crab was very fresh and flavorful. Loved all the toppings. The salad was a good size - not too big, not too small. Overall a really nice salad. We ordered as appetisers, 12 oyster Kumamoto they were delicious, burrata and and heirlooms tomato's, fresh and really well balanced, charcuterie and cheese board, super good well matched cheese, and calamari also very tasty, till here all good, so we had great expectancy for the main! Unfortunately the main were a complete disaster, Risotto seafood special was blandly served, rice were overcooked ( not to be mean but one of the main point of a risotto is the rice texture need to bold and crunchy, what we recived was soft and overcooked rice, so that kind take a lot away from what a risotto should be) , also ordered truffle mac and cheese, we received a Mac and cheese bland fondue that look more like a cheese soup and not truffle flavour at all! Really disappointing tbh but I do want to make a special mention to our server Andrew, he was great and very polite, the 3 star in the reviews is because of his service that was lovely, otherwise for food only will have been easy a 2 star!
