Was staying at the Fairmont and wanted to grab something quick to eat. Sonoma eats is across the street (5 min walk), it's very colorful inside and a great menu. Ordered fish tacos (you order at the counter) and the food was delicious.

We'd heard of the place and wanted to check it out. It's located in a restaurant in a small strip mall off Montgomery Ave that used to be a long time established taqueria that closed down. The place was clean and nicely remodeled with a little bar section open at one end. We went to the bar side as it was pretty full in the main restaurant part and loud and we wanted to hear each other talk. Where we say we had this little windows bite into a team of 3 or 4 chefs cooking away. My daughter and i were greeted by a very friendly waitress who sat us and gave us menus and we ordered coffee first as it was Sunday afternoon and we'd missed out coffee earlier. Nice start, but then the coffee was not quite hot enough but tolerable. I figured I'd get another refill soon that would probably be hotter. Meanwhile we ordered food. We were not overly starving so we got a lighter meal of the Burria beef tacos (comes with 3 for $14, so we ordered an extra 1 for $5 so we could have two each). They had several other type tacos that look good but they don't allow mix and match. It does not come with chips, you must order separately, nice quality homemade chips (smallish size) that comes with about1/3 cup serving pico de gallo sauce for $8, then they'll give you a sample of their two hot sauces for free, a creamy habanero, which is spicy, but just ok flavor wise, definitely better than their green mild salsa that tastes like it came out of a can. The pico de gallo is fresh snd very average, not bad at all, just nothing unusual. The tacos were tasty. But the refill of coffee never came till we finished eating and she asked if we acted to top it off. I said yes please and was poured a lukewarm cup o joe that tasted like it had been sitting a while. She forgot the half n half which is how i take my coffee. The first time she only brought a shot size mini pitcher of the precious cream which was barely enough for two cups to use! Anyway the cold coffee put a damper on the whole experience. I'd been looking at the breakfast menu for the future which looks good but you definitely gotta have good coffee. $8 for our two coffees, should have been her tip. Just could not give that big a tip, sorry because we were kind of forgotten. The experience with the coffee just made me think more about our tacos and sauce. While they were good, the whole thing was over priced. We paid $40 before tip for 4 average / small size regular tacos, a side of 1/2 avocado ($3), two regular refillable lukewarm warm old coffees($8), and the small order of chips with salsa($8). It would have been just as good and much less expensive at other places featuring Mexican food and we have some of the best Mexican food around in this town. Note, this is NOT the same or any connection with the other Parkside cafe in town. That place is called Dierk's Parkside cafe and is a whole other incredible culinary experience.

Incredible food, great service, and a cute location with a quaint, cheery interior and a nice amount of parking! You cannot go wrong with anything on their menu, including their delicious and meticulously homemade baked goods - oh and their molé is literally BOMB. GO you won't be disappointed!

Nice touristy restaurant. Jamaica was amazing once watered down so it was a good deal... not eating super highly because my tacos seeming kinda soggy and the carnitas weren't very flavorful. No hot sauce or verde included, just a quarter lime that was dried up pretty restaurant but overall mid. Service was good though.

I really wanted to like this restaurant more, it's in a great location, they have a ton of options, and a nice patio to enjoy your meal. Had the mushroom super burrito and unfortunately it was a little bland. Not sure what it was missing but it left me wanting more. I would go again and try something else to give them another chance. The staff was incredible though, super friendly and helpful!

Mole Enchiladas

I loved the decor of the place! The mole enchiladas are made of mole negro, they had a hint of sweetness and a bit of spice, I would definitely try again! Everything tasted freshly made & the food came out quicker than I expected.

The most unassuming Mexican joint! My boyfriend and I were staying at the Fairmont and wanted a quick and easy bite. We stumbled into this place and got a carne asada burrito, 2 tacos and chips and guacamole. The inside is very clean and quiet. We were pleasantly surprised by the food!! The chips and guacamole were fresh and delicious. The carne asada burrito was also really tasty. Our server was also the best ever!!! If you are in the area looking for a quick bite I would definitely recommend this place!

Delicious lamb tacos!

Best way to start a Sunday! Ordered the Tres Leches French toast, and a side of crispy bacon. Decadent but not too rich, and the perfect amount. Dude had the delish chorizo breakfast tacos. Finished the meal with a champurrado! The place was hoppin' at 9am!

Baja fish tacos. Jicama salad. Quesabirria tacos

Wow this place was really great when we visited. The order was huge, so be mindful you get a lot of food. The service was great. The young man was super sweet, patient, and knowledgeable. I ordered the fish tacos and the batter was great. Pieces were massive but cooked perfectly, not greasy. Also ordered, the jicama salad and it was so refreshing. My favorite My friend ordered the birria tacos and she loved them. Also, packed with meat. Overall, we thought it was a great meal for the price. I would be curious to try other menu options if I am in the area.

Basic Shrimp taco for $6? Dry/ stale tortilla with the 3 little overcooked shrimp lukewarm- no flavor.
Dave L.

Sonoma Eats left a lot to be desired. Not one Latin person eating in the establishment should have been a giveaway. The tortillas were dry and stale, which is a dealbreaker for tacos and set the tone for the rest of the meal. The shrimp tacos felt uninspired, lacking fresh and vibrant components like cabbage, lettuce, pickled onions, or even a generous sprinkle of cilantro leaf's and diced tomato to bring it all together. Everything tasted flat, no salt, no spice, as if no real thought was put into balancing flavors and textures. To make matters worse, the food took a long time to arrive on the table, which only added to the disappointment. Overall, it felt like the experience didn't live up to its potential, leaving it squarely in the "mid" category. Restaurant in general felt a little unclean and unorganized bathroom deft need cleaning.

Sure I was interested in some food but it was also a football Sunday and I wanted a cold frosty beer to celebrate my hike and the start of my roadtrip. I don't do strict planning when it comes to eating and drinking. I often find it more intriguing when serendipity plays a hand. I'm walking down this town's main retail square, insured something was within reach. I pass by this unassuming dive bar with no signage but very well laid out inside. It was surprisingly quiet for a weekend afternoon in a touristy spot. Friendly bartender asked me what I wanted. But I ask first if I could get our local football game on and if they served food. Game yes said it would be on within minutes. Food unfortunately no but there were tons of options outside the door. Ordered a cold lager on tap from the east coast. The lager was light cold and refreshing. I think I finished it within minutes. Tender was quick to ask for a refill, love that. I next get a beer refill, and a Jameson on the rocks to quietly sip on, as I was now committed to watching the first half there. Very impressive glass and pour on the Irish whisky. I take a few sips but finish my beer, but this time much longer to down as I wasn't so parched now. I sip the rest of the whisky but now well diluted from the cold ice, which makes it so much more smooth to me. It opens the spirit, takes away the heat and blooms the flavors. My second round took over an hour. Then halftime hits in the game with a close score, even though my team did not look good. I tell the bartender that I'll close out to look for some lunch. By this time the bar was filling up. 3 perfectly timed drinks for well under $10 bucks a pop just sent me on my long weekend on a sweet note. I found food around the corner where they had a tv and I was able to watch the remaining of the game there. If no TVs were found, I would have gone back to the bar to finish the game. I was still pleased with my short experience there. Small town watering hole encapsulated.

Don't laugh but after I wrote this we went back in the morning, yes morning. They open at 6:30am! We made it there more like 9:00am and had Irish Coffee and Lagunitas Willellised Coffee (13.1%!). Watched a bit of the Drew Barrymore Show and chatted with the locals sitting alongside us at the bar.

What a hidden gem... or maybe everyone else knows about it but us. The parking is limited, but you can park around the back or next door in the McD's lot. Seating outside, but since it was raining, we opted for inside. We walked into a cozy, friendly environment which was packed. The only table that was available, was a table for 1 in the corner. The extremely generous young man sitting by the door, heard what the server had offered us and he immediately turned to us and gave us his table and he moved to the single table. I don't think anyone has ever done this for us. We gladly accepted and in turn we treated him to breakfast. We were curious to see the plates coming out of the small kitchen. The pancakes look amazing, as did everything else we caught a glimpse of. A Vallejo omelette and a basic eggs, bacon and potatoes plate. My husband absolutely loved the omelette comparing it to the ones he used to order at the Cliff House in SF back in the day. My eggs were cooked perfectly and the potatoes were perfect with onion and red peppers added in. Omelette $20 and egg combo $19. Very reasonably priced. The service was great and the food came out piping hot. We will definitely visit again. They were written up in Sonoma magazine for the lemon pancakes and French toast.

My suggestion would be to use a little more ham, and not the store bought thin sandwich slices, but real hand sliced quality and thicker would make a huge difference. My goto dinner spot in Sonoma…read more I actually have been here multiple times and I don't know what has taken me so long to post a review but the Girl and the Fig is definitely the truth. When you enter you'll notice a more homey decor to the place. Warm colors all around and even warmer service once you sit down. Every single experience Ive had here is been nothing less of 110%. Theres always this good balance professionalism with lightheartedness that pair so well for the atmosphere. Because at its core this restaurant is high scale. It definitely has that higher scale vibe but if never comes off as pretentious though. This particular I took my wifey here for our 10th year anniversary together. And we were greeting by a nice little card from the "Fig Family." We ended up trying the Seared Halloumi and I was shocked at how much I liked it. Very light flavors but still enough variety with the crispy spigarello and pine nuts to keep things fun. The lemon never feels too overwhelming. For mains my wife got the Mushroom RisottoI think? Or maybe it was Butternut Squash Risotto? I got the Fig Burger and both were amazing. The only reason I didn't get her Risotto was simply because I already had it at lunch time, but that still didn't stop me from taking a bite. Each rice like grain had a perfect chew and flavor to each bite. Even being the picky person that I am with veggies, I appreciated the veggies addition to the dish. I still think though that the sure winner was my Fig Burger. This burger is everything we wish our local breweries burger was. A harmonic balance between salty and sweet. Im down to get a little crazy with burgers but if it's too sweet, it kinda loses the appeal for me. It takes away too much from the burgers roots. So yea. Go here. Make reservations too. I know for myself I made mine about a month in advance so it's hard to say how hard it is to get a table here. But hopefully it's not too bad. Parking by the way is just street parking. Despite that Ive always been able to get a park on W Spain St right before I pull up to the restaurant. OH! And thanks again Girl and the Fig family! You made the end to our anniversary quite magical!
