I just had a breakfast burrito from this truck truck, first complaint. I had a chorizo breakfast burrito. Literally, half of the burrito was oil squirting from everywhere. Disgusting never have I ever had a burrito where the oil was just everywhere, Taco Bell and McDonald's is way better than this truck, also they charge a 10.25 on credit cards and debit talk about a racket, whoever's thinking of going there you're better off going to Taco Bell or McDonald's. Yelped "Best Breakfast Burrito" while staying in Sonoma for a weekend getaway and El Coyote appeared. This unassuming food truck was conveniently down the street from our hotel and OMG...the food was phenomenal! I ordered the breakfast burrito and while my photo isn't that awesome, the burrito was fantastic. I live for crispy bacon in my breakfast burritos, nothing is more of a bummer than slimy bacon. I also got an Al pastor taco, which was great, but the true star of our order was the Hot Dog with Bacon my husband ordered on a whim. Damn. It was SO good that I go back to reference the photo just to remember what was in it and try our best to recreate it at home. lol The hot dog was split down the middle was topped with onion, diced tomatoes, cilantro, mustard, sour cream and the most important ingredient chopped up bacon. Service was awesome, the kid behind the counter was friendly, and everything came out hot and fast. Forget wine tasting, that hot dog is absolutely worth another trip back to Sonoma! read more

I have driven on Highway 12 passing through Sonoma, CA, tons of times. Each time I have noticed this particular pale green colored food truck parked at various places along Highway 12 and always seem to have a crowd. That's definitely a good sign. So Iast month, I finally stopped in my tracks to check them out. They were parked in front of the old skate and board shop across from the high school. There was plenty of street parking. The fella that took my order was funny and had a great attitude. I bought a couple of street tacos, one cabeza and the other carne asada. The Hubs also got two, but his was a carnitas and a carne asada. They were $3 each. The meat was piled up on the flour tortillas. The asada was good. It had yummy crisp edges and great flavor. The cabeza was firm while being melt in your mouth tender. But hold up, I tasted some of Hubs carnitas. Ohhh it was delicious. That was definitely my favorite. We ate the tacos right there on the spot at the picnic tables. read more

This food truck has very delicious and big XL shrimp burritos! They were generous with the shrimp and guacamole in the burrito. It tasted super fresh and my toddler son really enjoyed it too (and he can be very critical of restaurants). We just called ahead and the burritos were ready as soon as we got there. After several great trips here and love walking by and supporting a neighborhood business, sad to say this place is not vegetarian safe. I love this business for being local, fast, and reliable-- they'll even stay open when it's raining-- and I sometimes stop by just to grab an ice cold drink bc it's easy to pull up at the curb right outside the truck. I've had some good burritos here over the last couple years but the more recent few times I ordered from them there was meat in my veggie burrito, or chicken mixed into a simple rice bean and cheese burrito. They also said the side of rice and beans is vegetarian but it doesn't taste like it. I won't order food here again but I wouldn't discourage a friend who eats meat from trying it out. read more

What a great stop! We were in the middle of a couple wine tastings and were looking for some quick substance and this hit the spot. The tacos were fresh, authentic, and plentiful - we had both chicken and steak. The nachos did not strike me as anything special, with the chips and cheese being a bit ballpark reminiscent. Have you ever heard of a Mexican Food Truck having yummy burgers?! El Coyote's are actually REALLY good! They are full of flavor and so juicy - definitely grab a couple of napkins to enjoy. You can customize your burger and order with one or two patties. And, their Mexican hot dogs... you know, the hot dogs wrapped in bacon that are topped with salsa, drizzle of crema, condiments - Oh. Sooo. Good!!! Might as well get two of those, when you finish one you'll wish you would have ordered two - trust me. Tacos and Burritos are good too - but, the burgers and hot dogs stand out the most for me. When you pay 15 dollars for a sandwich, you expect something a little more than 2 dollops of dry, room temp chicken, some lettuce and sauce. Taqueria Sonoma has a torta for the same price with twice as much meat, twice as much bread, hot. You made it room temp and somehow small and dry. Do better!!! Or the free market will do it for you! Who sells chicken out of their truck that tastes twice cooked? I feel robbed and you should feel ashamed. read more

Came here during a recent trip wine country! My friends and I did an experience at an animal sanctuary and were rerouting to Sonoma for wine tasting, but decided to stop here for a quick bite beforehand. This is a cute little food truck, with a few picnic tables on the side where you can eat. I decided to order the al pastor taco salad and my fiance got the carnitas burrito, and we all had some chips and guac to split. The portion size for all the dishes (including the guac) was pretty big which was really nice! The salad was chockfull of different ingredients including tomatoes, lettuce, grilled zucchini, beans, rice and came on a really delicious flour tortilla so you could wrap it up if you want to as well. My fiance seemed to really enjoy his burrito as well! The chip and guacs were good and it was nice to have so much, but the guac could've been a little better seasoned. Great Mexican food with asada and al pastor. I tried the al pastor tacos and a steak burrito. Portions are good size and filling. The burrito had rice, beans, avocado, tomato and choice of meat. What a pleasant surprise! We walked down to the truck after checking out as our last stop in Sonoma and we must have gotten lucky because it wasn't busy (yet). We hoped for better. The bean and cheese burritos ordered with LIGHT amount of cheese was more of a cheese burrito with light beans. The beans were also somewhat bland. We ended up eating about a quarter and throwing the rest away. The two beef tacos were quite good, but small. They forgot to give us our chips and salsa, as well as the fork. They are across the street from the high school and something that I like about them is that student that can't leave campus they can place their order and they walk them over to deliver them. Moments later, finding myself inching along in bumper to bumper traffic, I made an executive decision to scrap my intended destination and opt for the destination in immediate reach. Despite being a food truck, El Coyote isn't what I'd call fast food, That's not a complaint but rather, an observation that food is prepared to order and doing so well takes a bit of time. Within about 10 minutes of ordering I was sitting under an umbrella'd picnic table (beside the truck, in front of a surf/skate shop) savoring a uniquely tasty carne asada taco salad ($8.50). What made it unique and what surprised me, was that this was a taco salad with a muted flavor profile as opposed to the flavor profile I normally associate with Mexican fare. I'm generally not one to seek out zucchini on or in anything but this taco salad featured it, gently grilled or sautéed and topped with melting cheese and it was a throwback reminder to the sort of food I once prepared for myself at home, finishing off with a bit of time under a broiler to ensure I'd get melted cheese in each stringy bite. This was a delicious taco salad, well-balanced, even though it didn't feature the zing of hot salsa or the tang of pico de gallo. I went back to the truck hoping for a bit of either but beside the truck there was only Tapatio, which doesn't quite carry the load of what I was seeking. Still, even without the desired kick of spiciness and heat, I thought this taco salad was delicious, falling into the category of "I didn't know that's what I'd like, but I most certainly did". If you're passing by El Coyote and craving a unique rendition of Mexican fare, well-prepared with care, give 'em a try. I stood off to the side and in about 2 minutes the young man was calling me to the truck to tell me I over paids as there were 2 more tens stuck to the one I gave him.
