I paired it with coconut. Not a flavor I remember from back in the day but also an excellent taste. Again, adult me would like a little less sugar and perhaps the crunchiness of the coconut but I'm being picky. Mississippi mud pie seemed like something to try and I'm glad I asked for a taste. Both dishes were very interesting and flavorful - not your average faire. The benedict was unusual, with the tomato-based sauce, but very tasty. The hash was heavy with local mushrooms, which gave it a richness and depth. The accompanying eggs were beautifully prepared (poached for the Benedict, and fried sunny side up for the hash). We loved the atmosphere, the food, and the super friendly and personal service. Thank you Girl and the Fig for making us feel like old friends and serving us such lovely food! We'll be back soon!

Got the banana bread, tuna melt, and chia pudding with granola added. Everything was good. The banana bread was good warmed up, a nice sugary hard top layer. The chia pudding was very good, not sugary at all and tastes healthy like i like it with lots of fresh strawberries and the granola i recommend adding for &1.50. The tuna melt was delicious! Reminds me how my mom would make it growing up, i tasted hints of blu cheese very subtle and nice amount of onions. Def recommend checking out when passing thru area. The staff was also very kind. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. We were the only customers in line, but the staff didn't greet us or even make eye contact, which made us feel unwelcome. My parents were uncomfortable, so we left. I later went back to grab a baguette for a snack, but it was hard and chewy and didn't seem very fresh. Maybe I caught them on an off day, but between the service and the bread, I don't see myself coming back.

An easy 4-minute walk from Vallejo House, Salumeria Ovello is owned by Andrea, who is a Michelin-star chef from the area of Piedmont, Italy. Having been to Italy twice this past year alone, I remember quite well the quality and taste of the classed Italian Sandwiches. The worker who served at the counter was very helpful, and within the restaurant --- there are just a few seats. I'd say, 3 tables with two seats at each table. For my food, I decided to order the Massimo --- which is on "sliced Focaccia, and has sun dried tomatoes, stracciatella di burrata, prosciutto cotto, basil pesto and crumbled taralli (crackers)". Each sandwich is made fresh-to-order, and you can taste the quality. Each ingredient worked together in harmony, and to satisfy the americani in me, I definitely enjoyed the taralli in the sandwich --- reminded me of putting chips in my sandwiches in school. While I waited, Andrea also brought out some slices of salami for me to try --- free of charge, which was very kind of him to do. Didn't look it up, took a chance and went for it. From the moment you enter, such friendly folks greet you and point you to the menu and where to go when you're ready to order. So much to choose from, but I went the easy route and ordered the "Smoked Turkey". Expected a basic turkey sandwich with the usual trimmings, and wow did it ever exceed those expectations. The sliced turkey was melt-in-your mouth moist, tender, and delicious. The tomatoes, the greens, the mild spread added at just the right amount to make the flavors pop. Then with the bread - the way it was lightly grilled to make the cheese melt perfectly...made it warm with a slight crunch on the outside, through the melty cheese to the cooler turkey, tomatoes and other trimmings on the inside. Honestly, one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It filled me up perfectly but I didn't want it to be done. Sat there thinking of my favorite uncle growing up in Texas, who, when he ate something really good, would say "well my belly's full but my taster is still hungry". :) It was that good. Everybody at the baby shower raved about how good the desserts were and loved the way they were decorated. The lemon cupcakes were especially a hit. You can tell that Christina uses quality ingredients in her confections. These are on the pricey side. The whole order was $180 for two dozen cupcakes and a dozen cookies, which comes out to $5/ dessert.

Groom's cakes are a tradition meant to display the groom's interests or hobbies. It's a fun way to put the spotlight on the groom on the big day! The cake turned out even better than any inspiration photos online. She even delivered the cake early in the morning to beat the heat, and get the cake in the venue's refrigerator before the afternoon. When you're planning a wedding, or any event, having dependable vendors is a must. Christina was wonderful to work with and I couldn't recommend her more. Consider yourself lucky if she's available to bake for your event!
