I love this place! I love coming into an ice cream place with bright colors and great decor. It is inviting and very aesthetically appealing. I usually go for their banana split. But choosing different flavors each time. You must try their pistachio ice cream, it's unique and different from any other place. Their service is fast and friendly. I love that they are family friend and tend to our needs. Although some workers don't speak English, we try are best to communicate to get what we need. We were looking for ice cream around are area while staying at the Fairmont and we were so lucky to find this place walking distance! Rice Horchata flavored ice cream bar: So delicious and had small bits of rice in it which gave it a nice texture. I came with my nephews and my fiance who got chocolate ice cream which was really good! Very creamy and fresh with a deep chocolate flavor. Overall, the price was very reasonable! I think for 4 people it was about $15-20. The service was excellent. The only feedback was that the scoop sizes would differentiate greatly depending on which worker scooped it. This place is across from a fruit stand. The store inside looks cold and institutional and has a bad smell. There was only one worker there and no other customers. They have a ton of flavors but many of them are too exotic to understand and there were no descriptions of the flavors. The lady behind the counter couldn't articulate the flavors so she allowed us samples. After trying two or three flavors, I felt obligated to buy something so I purchased a passion fruit bar which had nice crunchy seeds but tasted very similar to orange juice. My husband enjoyed their custard ice cream bar that tasted to me like condensed milk. It was too sweet. Most of the items are very sweet for anyone who is trying to control their sugar levels. I was hoping to find something that wasn't too sweet but this place is not shy about adding sugar. The prices are 3.50 each bar which is not cheap for a small bar of juice. The popsicle sticks are too short and we almost dropped one. If you want something cold and sweet and love very sweet treats, then this is a decent place but it does have a bad smell inside the shop. Paletas are basically just really amazing popsicles but that's just one of many wonderful things you can get here. Those are what I however come for and one paleta in particular.... Rice pudding! I know, I know, that's so random and strange but the flavor is just absolutely incredible and the texture is amazing. As soon as I eat it I wish I had more but I'm really glad that they are not super close to me otherwise I would be here all the time. Hubby always gets their lime paletas and raves about them, and both of us have tried their ice creams which were delicious as well. Service is always friendly and fast and prices are excellent. Passed by this ice cream shop Thursday afternoon on the way back from wine tasting and my friend said Mexican ice cream was good so we had to make a stop. The shop has a plaza of parking so it was super easy to find parking as it was not busy. The outside of place was really colorful and probably what caught our eyes when driving by. Inside the shop there were a few tables for seating and one worker. She was super nice, patient, and served customers very quickly. Samples were allowed and they had many unique flavors!! I tried gansito, cajeta caramel, coffee, strawberry cheesecake, and chongos custard and decided to get a double scoop of the first two! My family and I visited this ice cream parlor last week. The ice cream was FABULOUS! I had a scoop of the mango sorbet and the rose ice cream. The mango was perfect. The rose was a bit on the sweet side, but was very unique and went well with the mango. My husband had cookies and cream and mint-chocolate chip ice cream... they tasted extremely fresh, like they had been freshly churned. The reason I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because when my husband asked about ingredients the woman behind the counter simply told him that there were no ingredients. Either she didn't want to find the ingredients or they really don't carry ingredients, either way that's not okay. I have an allergy and really needed to know about ingredients -- I decided to risk it. The building is painted in very bright colors and it has an extremely welcoming atmosphere. They have tons of delicious Mexican ice cream flavors as well as some traditional favorites. The staff is courteous and quick. I sampled a few of the goodies until my heart finally settled on their scrumptious rum raisin. It's nothing but sweet and creamy things going on in here, folks (and yes, I'm talking about ice cream!). Prices are extremely reasonable and the scoopage game is on POINT! Massive scoops are given. That was one hell of a scoop that they blessed your girl with, and you best believe that I devoured that thang all the way 'til the last drop (STILL talking about ice cream... damnit!!!). They also have fresh fruit bars, ice cream bars , and agua frescas. They even have a specialities menu available! So many choices at La Michoacana. Peter L mentioned La Michoacana, so we headed here on Saturday, March 11th around 5:30pm. *3 Scoops: Mexican Vanilla, Pistachio, Tequila *Mango Fruit Bar *Horchata *Mangonada ($5.50) I got the mango fruit bar. Way too sweet for me. I wanted to taste more fruit than sugar. The ice cream was pretty good. I actually liked the mexican vanilla the best. It was creamy and had great vanilla flavor. I'm a functioning alcohol (at times), but I thought the tequila consistency was too runny. I'm not a big pistachio fan, so I thought that flavor was all right. Peter liked it though as I think that's one of his favorite ice creams. I didn't really try the drinks, but everyone seemed to enjoy them. A fun stop on the way back home. I'd stick to the ice cream and avoid the fruit bars. Especially the mexican vanilla. Great flavor and consistency. read more

OK, looks like Boyes Hot Springs is a hotbed of great Mexican food. After having lunch add El Molino Central, see my review, how could I pass up the chance to try some Mexican ice cream? So I took about a 10 minute walk from the restaurant down to La Michoacana. So glad I did. I had the Mexican caramel ice cream. Very creamy and caramel-y. Flavorful and good. I was still quite full from from lunch, but of course I had to do Quality Control. So I ordered a paleta (popsicle) to go, chongos aka custard. This was also delicious. They'll wrap it for you in foil if you have more self-control than I do and are going a shorter distance than I would be going. I probably wouldn't come all the way here from San Francisco just for this place, but for sure when I come back to El Molino Central, if there is the slightest amount of space left in my stomach I will return here for some more delicious ice cream or paletas or probably both. Service is friendly. There are a couple tables where you can sit and enjoy your ice cream. read more

I got the guava sorbet and I was expecting something tart and refreshing. The guava sorbet was insanely sweet, waaaay too much added sugar than necessary. They also didn't strain out the guava seeds. If you've ever had guava seeds, you know that they are as hard as rocks and are not malleable. So I had to spit out the seeds while eating. After a few more bites, I decided that it wasn't worth forcing myself to finish it, so I threw away the full cup of ice cream. Wouldn't recommend. read more

I have always wanted to visit this place because of how beautifully the outside is painted. Such a well crafted ice cream shop. It's reflection in my opinion represents a Spanish style culture which gives visitors coming into Sonoma a lot of our heritage of Sonoma county and California. I work at the fairmont quite often as a nanny especially during summers! I don't work as often with older kids so when I showed up to a 12, 9 and 4 year old I had to get a little more creative of coming up with a fun activity for them. Fortunately their parents were pretty much up for any form of entertainment for them. I decided to walk to the ice cream shop with them since it's quite close...about less than a half of a mile..so .03 miles. So close and such a great thing to do with a group of kids! The only downfall to this cute little joint is it's right by the highway which makes me a little nervous sitting with kids outside because cars can pass by pretty fast. I had one of the "exotic" flavors and omg it was absolutely delicious. Nutella is one of my favorites and this place has the best Nutella ice cream! I topped mine with caramel and rainbow sprinkles on a waffle cone. It was delicious! The other ice creams (all in waffle cones as well) were coconut and mint chip. They finished every bite!
