It was a nice stop after a big meal. We were craving some ice cream and saw this place. We got four flavors. They are all wonderful. I got blueberry yogurt and dark chocolate. My partner got strawberry and coffee. They are all good. The person here is quick. The place has a lot to offer. If you crave something sweet on the road, you should come and give it a try.

Double scoop: Rose Petal and Cajeta

A local favorite for anyone wanting a delicious dessert after a long day or after a meal. The homemade flavor is one to savor. The two girls working behind the counter were in great spirits, making our experience feel special. The sweet scent of freshly made ice cream made me want to try every flavor. I settled on the rose petal and caramel. From my picture, I couldn't wait to try the caramel scoop haha. If you're not looking for ice cream, I also recommend the esquite or chicharrones.

This place is a really cute and colorful ice cream shop, with a lot of variety to choose from. I enjoy their Agua Frescas and recently got a root beer float that really hit the spot. The whipped cream on top was slightly coconut flavored which was a nice surprise. The staff who work there are pleasant and helpful. Overall this is the perfect spot for a sweet treat on a hot day!

I was out to grab a toothbrush since I'd forgotten mine on a recent trip to the area and this provided the perfect opportunity to check out La Michoacana. I'd spotted them on a previous visit and knew I wanted to check them out. My fav dessert in this wine region is the rice pudding at Bistro Jenty in Yountville, so I knew I would try the rice pudding paleta here. It did not disappoint. Perf little summer treat on a warm night. Highly recommend! Service was fast and friendly!

Just moved here and I am so glad I found this place. I'm originally from Southern California and this is the only place that has snacks like from back home. Takis esquite was sooo good, usually Takis con queso is mt favorite but this might be my new favorite

Passion fruit bar that tastes like orange juice
    Lorissa W.

This place is across from a fruit stand. The store inside looks cold and institutional and has a bad smell. There was only one worker there and no other customers. They have a ton of flavors but many of them are too exotic to understand and there were no descriptions of the flavors. The lady behind the counter couldn't articulate the flavors so she allowed us samples. After trying two or three flavors, I felt obligated to buy something so I purchased a passion fruit bar which had nice crunchy seeds but tasted very similar to orange juice. My husband enjoyed their custard ice cream bar that tasted to me like condensed milk. It was too sweet. Most of the items are very sweet for anyone who is trying to control their sugar levels. I was hoping to find something that wasn't too sweet but this place is not shy about adding sugar. The prices are 3.50 each bar which is not cheap for a small bar of juice. The popsicle sticks are too short and we almost dropped one. If you want something cold and sweet and love very sweet treats, then this is a decent place but it does have a bad smell inside the shop. Outside are some wooden benches where you can enjoy your sweets.

Paletas are basically just really amazing popsicles but that's just one of many wonderful things you can get here. Those are what I however come for and one paleta in particular.... Rice pudding! I know, I know, that's so random and strange but the flavor is just absolutely incredible and the texture is amazing. As soon as I eat it I wish I had more but I'm really glad that they are not super close to me otherwise I would be here all the time. Hubby always gets their lime paletas and raves about them, and both of us have tried their ice creams which were delicious as well. Service is always friendly and fast and prices are excellent. Parking is a little iffy in the front but there's a wonderful parking lot on the side that makes access really easy. I love this place!

Best spot in Sonoma for authentic Mexican ice cream. They're also open until 10, which is a big plus for me, I often get late night sweet cravings. My favorite ice cream is the guayaba one, soooo yummy! I was craving some esquites & was excited to see they sold them, my cravings were 100% satisfied. Service is always extremely friendly, love this place!

Passed by this ice cream shop Thursday afternoon on the way back from wine tasting and my friend said Mexican ice cream was good so we had to make a stop. The shop has a plaza of parking so it was super easy to find parking as it was not busy. The outside of place was really colorful and probably what caught our eyes when driving by. Inside the shop there were a few tables for seating and one worker. She was super nice, patient, and served customers very quickly. Samples were allowed and they had many unique flavors!! I tried gansito, cajeta caramel, coffee, strawberry cheesecake, and chongos custard and decided to get a double scoop of the first two! The gansito was like a chocopie and Twinkie mix and caramel was super creamy and rich. Double scoop was $5.50

Maybe I didn't order the right thing, but the ice cream was just okay. My friend told me this place is popular, but she did tell me that she doesn't go here for their ice cream. Instead, she orders one of their other snacks which I probably should've gotten. I got the coffee almond and pistachio ice cream and it was just okay. Maybe I need to make a revisit and try one of their snacks.

The flavor I remember is called Its A Goodie -- french vanilla with peanut butter and fudge chips. Yup, still awesome! Ok sweeter than my adult palette likes now but hella nostalgic. I paired it with coconut. Not a flavor I remember from back in the day but also an excellent taste. Again, adult me would like a little less sugar and perhaps the crunchiness of the coconut but I'm being picky. Mississippi mud pie seemed like something to try and I'm glad I asked for a taste. Coffee ice cream with a fudge swirl and crushed cookies. Both workers seemed happy and offered lots of suggestions. There's one table inside and a few more outside. They also have some tourist items like tshirts. When I got home, I researched Double Rainbow. There are a few stores left and you can order online (min 8 pints). Just ignore the saturated fat...

Love Darling and this one feel like it's for the locals, so I really love that!…read more I mean Sweet Scoops (their og location on the Sonoma plaza) is so fun and the vibe is total retro ice cream shop, which is cool, but if you just want nice ice cream and don't need the sjop experience to impress your visitors, go to Darling! Sonoma resident here, and honestly, tourist fatigue is real during the summer months when it's difficult to find any parking whatsoever within a 2-block radius of Sweet Scoops on the plaza - and when you just want a nice quality homemade ice cream it's such a bummer to have to hard-pass due to inability to easily and quickly access. SO Darling is the perfect alternative (same owners, same ice cream, same quality, slightly different vibe). Ice cream cones are actually ~25% less expensive than Sweet Scoops (with rents in the sometimes in upwards of $10k per lease, I guess this is NO surprise) and there is plenty of seating around the shared space pavilion out front if either of their two bistro table sets out front are occupied. Lines are short (or often non-existent) and they have a lovely selection of little gift items & cards plus their stand-up freezer with pints and celebratory confections, too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED you try Darling when you're craving Sweet Scoops and the Film Festival or some other plaza-centric event has taken over the downtown area - it's a much better option if you're looking for a great ice cream versus the total old-fashioned ice cream shop experience. ***** 5-stars for Darling (Ice Cream)! *****
