They do customized cakes here and I've called so many neighboring bake shops, and they either don't do customized cakes or there were no response. I got a hold of the customized cake person here, Marcela and she is the owner as well as doing the designs for customized cakes! She goes above and beyond as I talked a lot of elements with her about the cake I want as well as cookies. Their cake is also delicious! Usually the customized cakes, look pretty but isn't delicious. This one was both to my delightful surprise. I opted for mixed fruit for my baby's first birthday party Harry Potter themed "The Chosen One" and everyone complimented on the cake's dragon, cake's flavor and overall design. They also went out of their way to help me pack the cake to my car since it was heavy and required care and handling as well as the batch of cookies I ordered. The shop offers other baked goods too, such as eclairs, themed holidays like Mother's Day cookies, Napoleon and etc. I will definitely be back to order more cakes and other baked items from her! read more

I went to pick up a cheesecake for my friend's birthday and while at it wondered if I should also choose my own cake for my upcoming birthday. Tried a sample of the Princess Cake, and I was SOLD! The most delicious cake I've ever eaten! When my friends and I tried the cheesecake, we were all FLOORED. It was the creamiest tastiest cheesecake we ever had as well! Ordered a specially designed St Honore cake 1 week in advance for my daughters 18th birthday. When I showed up on pick up day, there was no cake made. While they scrambled to make one and have it ready 2+ hours later, it didn't have time to set and separated in the car on the way home. No discount was provided for my troubles (drove 30 minutes twice), and so I still paid full price. While the cake was delicious!!!!, the experience was not and made my day stressful. Cute little coffee shop and bakery that my family has been visiting for over 30 years. Every visit to Sonoma I'm so happy to see it's still there and has hardly changed, it's like a little time capsule for me. Great coffee, cider, hot chocolate, and seemingly all the baked goods you can think up. My sister loves their classic Princess cake and always asks for a slice. Maybe a maple donut for my mom. I canNOT believe I have never left a review!!! We have been loving princess cakes, pastries, coffee, and lunch for 25+ YEARS. The princess cake is the best one we've ever had, (sometimes someone will go off book and get it from elsewhere and people turn up their noses!!) everyone in my family wants one for their birthday but one is gluten free so we ordered the flourless chocolate cake and a dozen macaroons. DELICIOUS!!!! Can I just say I am so glad to have a June birthday? Why? Because of fresh strawberry cake with whipped cream. It's seasonal and my favorite cake of all time. And Scandia makes the very best version of this! We ordered my birthday cake from here this year - first time - and it did not let us down! SO light and airy and had the sweetest strawberries. It was just summer in a bite! Also tried some of their sweet little cookies - which were also tasty. It's a classic little bakery - reminds me of old school bakeries from my childhood. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. I ordered a custom cake and when I went to pick it up, their system wasn't currently accepting Apple Pay and I had no other form of payment on me. They were gracious enough to let me leave with the cake and allowed me to call them in order to complete my payment. I am grateful for their level of customer service; I honestly wouldn't expect any establishment to do that for me. Thank you for making my day easier. read more

Tastiest pastries around! They make great cakes, eclairs, muffins, cookies and monkey-bread (oh-my!). They also serve lunch and espresso drinks with home-whipped cream! I love to bring my kids in for some one-on-one time and they have fun picking a treat. They always have a variety of whole cakes and cakes by the slice in the case. read more

I stopped in several times during my stay in Sonoma. It helped that I was five minutes away. My fave are the raisin snails. Big enough for two. The whipped cream eclair was just okay. I wanted some coffee mid-afternoon and the self-service carafes were less than hot. I shoulda known. read more

I hope they realize their Oatmeal cookie is horrible. Its not even a cookie. I asked if they have one and she just put it in a bag for me, she didn't show me anything. My mistake for not telling her to show me the cookie before I bought it. The barista doesnt know how to make drinks. She went to the back to get one of the bakers and forgot to give me the bad cookie that I went back for. Even more disappointing that I went back for it. When I called over the phone to tell her she forgot to give me the cookie she said "okay." I had to initiate the conversation, and the first time I called they picked up the phone but didn't answer. It took a while for anyone to come out from the back to help anyway. I should have walked out. The girl who helped, came out chewing. I asked if she was new because people make these mistakes, but she said no. Just not very attentive with poor communication skills I guess. The cakes are dry here and don't have great flavor. I haven't bought one for years. The French macarons taste okay but they are also pretty horribly made. Dont sell items for the price you do if you can't make them right. This has won the title of worst place in town. Seems like a couple of locals come here because it's quiet. I've never seen more than two customers at a time. Kids wanted an adventure so we chose to come over to Sonoma and found this bakery as one of the higher rated bakeries. The selection was high, even being later in the day. The various cookie choices gave plenty of options & my girls loved both the green dinosaur and pink/purple butterfly. They say the cookie tasted "good!" . We got three cake slices to try, Princess Cake- slight almond flavor with smooth filling & delicate cake, Raspberry Chocolate Ganache- thick ganache with perfect sweetness, subtle raspberry flavor that paired nicely with the soft chocolate cake, Fruit Basket - our favorite that matched the season well. Mixed fruit inside a deliciously delicate whip cream type filling, so much fruit each bite had a minimum of one bite sized piece of either strawberry or peach. We picked up a few of the pink butterflies for the kids, raspberry print cookies and the mocha macaroons for later. Short review incoming! Scandia Bakery opened some time back in Sonoma and I had taken my sweet time making my way over to give it a shot. Is it something revolutionary, not necessarily, but it does serve some delicious sweets and some good local coffee! I know a lot of reviewers talk about their wonderful cakes, but I however cannot comment on it and more so shift my focus to a grab and go scenario versus ordering ahead for a special event. Croissant, cookies, coffee all under 10 dollars...um yes! Not only was it inexpensive, it was delicious! I feel sad now that I waited so long to give it a go to be honest. On top of that their customer service was superb, very personal, which I feel is rare nowadays. As for parking, don't fret, it is located in a strip mall of sorts with plenty of parking. Would happily recommend it for snacks, but still could not give it a review for its beautiful cakes sadly (Maybe in time). read more

Marcela worked magic for our small elopement. She was so responsive when we placed our order and made sure to communicate with us so everything was just the way we wanted. Our cake was not only beautiful but incredibly tasty. I may be biased but I think our wedding cake was the best I've ever had. We ordered vanilla cake with caramel filling for each layer. I was surprising my friend for her birthday and I wasn't at the Airbnb the time they were delivering the cake. They went inside without me being home and hid the cake in the fridge for me. I'm so happy I came across this place! My sister's bachelorette party was in Napa, and she loves princess cakes, so I figured I'd get her that for dinner. I was looking online for princess cakes in Napa, but unfortunately I did not come across a bakery in Napa that made princess cakes (legitimate princess cakes, no hybrid versions). Everything at Scandia Bakery is so delicious! Today I had the egg, ham and cheese sandwich on a croissant, and I had them add avocado. I'm a breakfast sandwich connoisseur, and this was the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The egg was cooked to perfect. The ham so tasty. Quality ingredients. The cheese and then the avocado, fresh and so tasty. Next was an incredible mocha and a cookie. Not just any cookie but a chocolate dipped Alfajores. Heaven! Can you hear me knocking on the door because I'm here, In heaven! So good. Top notch service too! Seating inside and outside.
