Coffee franchises can be a dime a dozen, but when they are as eclectic as they are as this location of Dutch Bros Coffee is, then it's a win-win in wine country. Located along the busy corridor of Broadway, also known as Highway 12, which is a major thoroughfare that leads wine lovers from the outskirts of town back to the main Sonoma Square, on the corner of Andrieux Street, this location of Dutch Bros Coffee was clearly rehabilitated from a former gas station to a drive-thru coffee stop for caffeine lovers everywhere. What was once a Hot Shots is now gone corporate thanks to Dutch Bros continuing their global domination of the franchisee coffee scene in the North Bay. Dutch Bros Coffee was founded over thirty years ago by brothers Dane and Travis Boersma, who were of Dutch descent, hence the name, in their hometown of Grants Pass, Oregon, who began their drive-thru coffee empire when their family's third-generation dairy farm had been struggling due to changes in environmental regulations, and the brothers were looking to start a new business venture and coffee was the best and smartest way to go for them. Three decades later, with over five hundred franchised stores in twelve states and a publicly traded company, Dutch Bros Coffee has reached new heights that so many of their competitors that also try to specialize in drive-thru coffee drinks have failed to reach similar heights. What makes this location in Sonoma wine country stand apart is the overall quaintness of it, from the single lane to the brick exterior of the entire structure that also houses a floral shop. From the chalkboard menu with their items listed in actual chalk, this location is a classic for sure. What brought a friend and I to this location on a recent weekend afternoon was after an afternoon of wine tasting, we had to return to a nearby wine tasting room to retrieve our car, and what better way to conclude our journey than a pit stop at the local Dutch Bros as we both were in need of a pick me up before our long journeys home for the day. Of course, me being the downloader of the Dutch Bros Coffee app certainly didn't hurt as ordering both online and in-person is made all the more easier. Upon our arrival, the drive-thru line was not very long, in fact it was so short that my friend and I really didn't get the chance to even review their menu options before it became our turn to order. With their seasonal menu always being a good option, I decided to order a medium size of their Brownie Batter Freeze, which was a dark chocolate mocha blended freeze which featured a soft top and a small amount of brownie pieces. My friend ordered a medium size of their Strawberry Horchata Chai Latte which was made with chai, caramel, white chocolate, cinnamon, strawberry and 2 percent milk with a soft top featuring cinnamon, what they call, sprinks. Thankfully, I did have the time to make an upload of additional funds to my Dutch Bros App, as I only had five dollars on it at the time and with a ten-dollar option, we actually managed to spend most of the money that I had on the app. Our total bill was almost fifteen dollars, which in and of itself is remarkable as for two medium-size drinks, the cost is quite remarkable. The good news is although the drinks aren't that affordable, their service is still top-notch as they can easily order your drinks on their iPad and then scan and charge your app via QR code and you are literally in and out or driving on your way so to speak. I was already in my own car sipping on my Brownie Batter Freeze, which was a chocolatey mochalicious treat. Were the brownie bites with the soft top a good combination? That's debatable as I have had better in the past. But what was not debatable was the fact that after an afternoon of wine tasting, my friend and I were toast for the day and our detour to Dutch Bros served as a nice pick me up that we didn't even know we so in desperate need of! read more

Excited to see a Dutch Bros Coffee place in CA after years of seeing them in Oregon. The Sonoma version has a walk-up option (most are drive-through in case you aren't familiar with them), which was very convenient in such a walkable town. This one is not too far from the town plaza. Love their hot chocolate - better than Peets and Starbucks by far. Friendly service and good quality drinks. They have a few snack options but this is mainly a drink place. If you know, you know! Is Dutch Bros sugary? Yes, but is it tasty? Hell yes! Dutch Bros. we love you! I've heard so much about Dutch Brothers, and we finally tried it out in Sac while on the way from Tahoe last summer. Over the weekend we were thrilled to see one located in Sonoma! I think this is the closest location to the SF/Peninsula area. Still hoping they'll make their way a little further southwest down 101. ;) If you've never had Dutch Bros, the big deal is that all locations are drive through, and they have an extensive drink menu & allows you the ability to customize your drink - hot, cold, blended, etc. We made the quick pit stop on the way home after Train town, and Lou's Luncheonette. There was barely a wait to place our order, and our drinks were handed to us a couple minutes after. Same friendly service that we received at a location in Sac, but way shorter wait time. He had a golden eagle which was breve with vanilla and caramel (blended) and it was sweeter than I remembered but still hit the spot. I chose to go non-caffeine ordering the strawberry and pineapple lemonade blended. Since it was blended, I still was nursing the drink a few hours later. Next time I'll get iced since blended is sweeter. There's something for everyone at Dutch Bros with their large menu, and ability to customize iced, hot, and blended. If you're looking for a snack, this is where Starbucks has the advantage. Dutch Bros only has a few muffin tops (served cold and packaged). I tried the chocolate chip one last year and it wasn't bad at all. Dutch Bros isn't a place for a diet since they do pack on calories and sugar, but a treat every once in awhile is worth it..So, maybe it's a good thing that the closest one is almost an hour and a half away. read more

Maybe sat there for 3 minutes and we ordered 6 drinks (for the whole car) and we were out in a jiffy. Everyone was so pleasant and welcoming and clearly efficient. Please open in Southern California! Dutch Bros is ubiquitous in Northern California and I can see why! The coffee isn't the highest quality luxury espresso drinks you'll ever get. You won't find pour overs with a market price or $6 lattes here. What you will find are fun coffee drinks at a fraction of the price. The large double Torture is pretty much a smallest bucket of vanilla mocha and had enough caffeine to get me through the 8 hour ride back to LA without any shut-eye. The annihilator and kicker are also really tasty drinks, and as the names imply, laden with caffeinated goodness. Is it the highest quality coffee? No. But, you come to Dutch Bros with the expectation to have your total daily carbohydrate and caffeine intake downed in one foul swoop. The entire menu is built upon the flavored Torani syrups, so if you can imagine a flavor combo - they'll make it! At this particular location, the staff was incredibly friendly and we felt super welcome whether if we came by drive through or walking up. Would recommend trying it out if you are in NorCal for the novelty of Texas sized drinks and drive through coffee. read more
