On a day exploring downtown Sonoma, I walked the square and started feeling hungry. Mexican sounded great and this place popped up nearby. I had a nice experience here; inside was festive and dark. I opted to sit outside on the courtyard deck to enjoy the sunshine. They have a solid menu with lots of delicious options. I chose one of the combo plates with rice and beans. Prices were reasonable, the staff was super attentive, and food tasted great! It was also super quick to receive the food after ordering.

Crispy tacos, queso fundido, and yummy margaritas. All excellent.

We always stop at this restaurant when visiting Sonoma, and highly recommend it! Exceptionally great, authentic Mexican food at reasonable prices. Excellent customer service. Classic and very clean dining area, with a gorgeous small patio in back. And the margaritas are yummy!

Grab quick lunch after wine testing, we came to La casa because I know they have outdoor seating and we have our dogs. Not too busy when we come over, food hot and fresh made, portion not to big I think just right, server so friendly.

Had a leisurely day walking around Sonoma Plaza and stopped here for lunch. It was a REALLY quiet day in Sonoma so the restaurant was almost empty. The friendly staff member greeted us and let us choose we're to sit. We chose a window seat with a view of the mission. We ordered the chicken tortilla soup, ensalada de la casa, beef soft tacos (plain) and a side of rice. Everything was yummy.

La Casa Restaurant and Bar is the perfect place to cool off on a hot day and take a break from wine drinking. We enjoyed their variety of margaritas and chips. I had the stuffed chili relleno full of cheese, spinach, prawns, and topped with chili verde and salsa fresco. The taco salad with steak was huge and full of meat! The shrimp a la Diablo was flavorful but lacking in any spiciness (which it should be spicy). The refried beans and rice are delish! Service was attentive and quick! Highly recommend!

I used yelp to find this place and I was concerned It received mixed reviews and I tried it anyway We really enjoyed it. I think the highlight was their guacamole and chips and let me add: salsa. The food was typical Mexican but done very well and the service was exceptional. I ordered the prickly pear spicy margarita with tajin rim and found it very boozy. Which for me wasn't a good thing, however, I think the majority would agree that they put the extra alcohol in it and you would enjoy it. So 5-stars for that! I had the Chile Relleno and hubby a burrito. Very good.

Crab enchiladas

Underwhelming experience overall. The food was basic and lacked flavor -- the veggie relleno had no salt, and the crab enchilada tasted far from fresh. Chips and salsa weren't complimentary, which would've been fine if the rest of the experience made up for it, but it didn't. Service was extremely slow, and no one checked on us throughout the meal. Staff seemed to be moving around aimlessly with no attention to guests. Unfortunately, it's a miss -- won't be coming back.

Sigh. Yes, it is standard that if your party is 6 or more people, an automatic gratuity of %18 will be included... however, this will ensure that your waitress will put in little to no effort. Food was ok, but disappointed with the box Spanish rice and no heat salsa.

Yum yum yum!!! Girls trip 1st night dinner in Sonoma and it was a great choice! Making an online reservation was quick & easy. The staff seated us instantly even though we were a few minutes early. Quick to take our order, appetizers & drinks came out quickly. Entrees followed right behind. Hot and yummy!!! It's a great place for a few drinks and meal with friends and/or family.

We had a lovely time at La Casa. The four of us started out sitting inside but then decided we wanted to sit outside. The staff was happy to accommodate us. We enjoyed the guacamole and chips to start. I had the Dorado crispy tacos which were delicious. The rest in our party had the shrimp fajitas which they loved. Our server was very attentive.

Would give a solid 3.5 if it were an option. Food is always good, paying for chips and salsa is annoying. Their margaritas are always good. Outdoor seating is small but very nice. Service could be a bit more helpful but all in all a good choice.

Guacamole and salsa

CO has some terrible Mexican food so am always happy to try out new places when out of state. Very friendly and attentive staff provided good recommendations on their margarita menu and provided great drinks. Everything we ordered from the food menu was just OK and did not appear to be using quality or fresh ingredients. Guacamole appeared to be store bought and not made in house and the salsa lacked the vibrancy that you will find in other restaurants. The chicken in their tacos was cubed indicating that it was made in bulk earlier in the week and not fresh. Larger restaurant located near the downtown area with indoor and outdoor seating.

They have such a great patio. My seafood chile relleno was amazing! Our server, Augustine, was really good too!

If they did something to warm up the big room with some plants and art, it would be better. It's pretty dull but the food is good.

This is the #1 mentioned spot recommended to me on my post/inquiry for great romantic restaurants in the area on Facebook page "Sonoma county foodies." I have my list from them and was excited to use one of the best excuses ever to go-my mother-in-law's 75th birthday and flying in to town to see us. We got a sitter and reserved a table weeks ahead. Entering in to the restaurant, it has a cool vibe as it's also a hotel. We got there before the dinner rush, so it was relaxed when we arrived. We were seated at a table; the staff knew ahead it was my MILs bday, and they kindly wished her happy birthday several times in our time. We ordered the mushrooms for appetizer; a generous portion, but not too big to ruin dinner. It was an unusual dish we hadn't had before; beautifully plated with arugula and a slightly spicy purée. I would order it again. I got a glass of Walt Chardonnay and my MIL a sparkling wine, which she and my husband really liked. For entrees, I got the Petaluma Chicken-which was crispy outside and tender on the inside. Polenta (very creamy) and broccolini. I would say my dish was light on salt, so I added some to taste, and all was good. My husband got the vegan plate with salmon, and it looked so healthy and fresh. The tofu was crispy too, even for my hubby that doesn't eat tofu. My mother in law got the flat iron steak and frites. The steak was cooked to her liking and looked delicious. The fries were ok--I thought they were a bit under-whelming (like them piping hot) but that can't always be achieved in a busy restaurant. Mid-meal the place started buzzing with activity, and it got a bit loud but not too bad. The staff was very kind and brought us a small fudge brownie (very rich and dense) and all 3 of us had 1-2 bites and satisfied our sweet tooth for end of meal. The waiter was fantastic! I would love to return and try some different dishes and some signature cocktails as they were so tempting.

We recently attended a rehearsal dinner at this restaurant as guests of the wedding party. Overall,…read morethe food quality was quite good; however, we encountered a service issue that significantly impacted our experience. Due to a flight delay beyond our control, we arrived partway through the evening and missed the first course. When we politely requested the opening salad, a dish that had been prepaid by the wedding party as part of a three-course package for all guests, we were informed that the kitchen could not accommodate us given our late arrival. We found this response difficult to understand, as a simple salad should present minimal operational burden to prepare outside of the standard service flow. For a venue that hosts out-of-town guests for milestone events such as rehearsal dinners, we would expect a greater degree of flexibility and hospitality, particularly in circumstances outside a guest's control. Accommodating a straightforward request of this nature would have gone a long way in demonstrating the kind of service that warrants a recommendation. Regrettably, based on this experience, we would not feel comfortable recommending this restaurant to out-of-town guests attending future events.

My goto dinner spot in Sonoma…read more I actually have been here multiple times and I don't know what has taken me so long to post a review but the Girl and the Fig is definitely the truth. When you enter you'll notice a more homey decor to the place. Warm colors all around and even warmer service once you sit down. Every single experience Ive had here is been nothing less of 110%. Theres always this good balance professionalism with lightheartedness that pair so well for the atmosphere. Because at its core this restaurant is high scale. It definitely has that higher scale vibe but if never comes off as pretentious though. This particular I took my wifey here for our 10th year anniversary together. And we were greeting by a nice little card from the "Fig Family." We ended up trying the Seared Halloumi and I was shocked at how much I liked it. Very light flavors but still enough variety with the crispy spigarello and pine nuts to keep things fun. The lemon never feels too overwhelming. For mains my wife got the Mushroom RisottoI think? Or maybe it was Butternut Squash Risotto? I got the Fig Burger and both were amazing. The only reason I didn't get her Risotto was simply because I already had it at lunch time, but that still didn't stop me from taking a bite. Each rice like grain had a perfect chew and flavor to each bite. Even being the picky person that I am with veggies, I appreciated the veggies addition to the dish. I still think though that the sure winner was my Fig Burger. This burger is everything we wish our local breweries burger was. A harmonic balance between salty and sweet. Im down to get a little crazy with burgers but if it's too sweet, it kinda loses the appeal for me. It takes away too much from the burgers roots. So yea. Go here. Make reservations too. I know for myself I made mine about a month in advance so it's hard to say how hard it is to get a table here. But hopefully it's not too bad. Parking by the way is just street parking. Despite that Ive always been able to get a park on W Spain St right before I pull up to the restaurant. OH! And thanks again Girl and the Fig family! You made the end to our anniversary quite magical!
