This is a pretty unassuming spot in the TL. You have to go up the stairs and this bar is on the 2nd floor. They have large tables and seating, great if you're playing board games. The cider on tap is all fantastic, from what I've tried. I had a strawberry one that was very sweet and smooth. Also they make lahmacun, which is a Turkish flatbread pizza. I attended an event here recently and everything was great! I loved the space and the decor. The staff was nice and service was quick. They have so many ciders that it was very hard to select 6 of them for my flight. However, the ones I ended up getting were very good! Flavors ranged from pineapple to passionfruit to strawberry (from Sweden, I think... this one ended up being my favorite!). They also had a decent food selection. I ended up ordering their Mac n Cheese, and that was very tasty. The pasta was the right texture and the cheese sauce tasted like they made it fresh with some good cheeses, so it was a very satisfying choice to help balance out the alcohol. I don't usually seek out ciders, but this is a really nice casual spot to hang out, especially in a group. read more

Two sliders tonight, along with the buffalo fries. They were not busy at all, in fact I was the 3rd table. The sliders both had nice flavor, one lamb and one fried chicken, but the fries were terribly cold and served in the weirdest way possible: diced celery and carrots on top of the buffalo sauce on the fries. Additionally, the celery was white and had no green to it at all. I was intrigued, but only in a bad way as it was too much pretending to be a great idea for what could've been a simple win: hot fries with some nice spicy buffalo sauce. For an amateur cider consumer like me, I liked the Fort point super dry (#17), Aspall dry (#14), and Far West (#18). #17- very straightforward and easy to drink for me. #14- similar to 17 but slightly sweeter. #18- i like the cinnamon taste, reminds me of spiced apple cider. on the sweeter side and doesn't taste like alcohol. The bartender is very friendly and gave good recommendations. Ciders are great and if you like cider, you will love this place. We tried a flight of ciders and I really enjoyed the variety, different flavors and options available: it was something new to me and lots of fun! The space is also large so there is lots of place to come in larger groups. They also allow board games so a great place to hang out with friends. If you enjoy cider, this place is a MUST. The variety and sheer quantity of ciders on the menu - both bottle and draft - is jaw dropping. Every cider in our flight rotations was great and unique. We really enjoyed talking about the ones we loved most, especially the pear-based cider from Sweden as well as the cider with maple in it. These were next level. When you arrive, the place may be quieter than you'd expect (I believe this is due to its location). Don't let that fool you. I genuinely think Upcider would be wall-to-wall with people if it were in, say, Marina or North Beach. Very cute spot on Polk street and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that there is a place to get cider in the city! It's a nice change from all the beer, wine and cocktail places. It's self service from the bar and you can find a spot anywhere to take a seat - it wasn't very busy on a Friday night. The music was a weird mix of electronic and I think they could've capitalized on the chill vibes in there with a more mellow playlist. There are few places in SF that is serves Cider only and this place is it. I was exposed to cider in one of my Europe trips and was thoroughly surprised this place existed. So many unique flavors. My fav was the guava cider. Staff also very friendly and lets you try as many as you like! The food is also really good. I tried the lamb burger medium rare and loved it. Absolutely delightful place. It's in a great location upstairs in the corner, so there's lots of windows and seating at a bar that goes around the windows. Those were quite popular. We sat at a table and it was comfortable. The menu is easy to read with just the right amounts of everything. Hubby got the sangria cider, daughter got apple garden farm cider, and I got a wheat beer. To eat, we got a lamb slider, a pulled pork slider, creole shrimp, and the spinach gruyere flatbread. And we got the bread pudding for dessert. Everything was very well done and delicious. We didn't want to eat too much since we were headed to a concert up the street at the Regency. Hubby loved his sangria cider, daughter LOVED her apple garden farm cider, and I just loved everything about it. Service was great. A couple of friends and I stopped here to start off our night while in town for the weekend. I love the concept of this place, a bar dedicated to ciders. There's literally like 2-3 pages full of all different types of ciders. We were easily able to grab a table and then were told to place our order at the bar. I tried the purple monkey cider which was very good. They also let you sample the beers before deciding on one which was awesome. For food we shared the buffalo fries which were topped with little tiny pieces of celery and carrots. The flavor was really good and not too overpowering. (4/5) I also had one of the portobello sliders. This was prob the best portobello sandwich I've ever had in my life, so good! (5/5) I'd highly recommend checking this place out.
