    La Tortilla Salad
    Judy L.

My boyfriend and I came on a Monday night to partake in their Bingo night event (every Monday from 7-9 pm). It looks like they also have Trivia night (Tuesday 7:30 pm), Wings Wednesday (50% off wings), and Mon - Fri Happy Hour from 2 pm to 6 pm. We had a really fun time! The bar and its patrons had a very chill and friendly vibe. Staff, bartenders, etc were all so nice and attentive! The bar was also clean without any sticky tables haha. We ordered a few drinks (I forgot exactly which ones but they were tasty)! I did end up ordering a La Tortillo salad with chicken which I kid you not.. is probably one of the best salads I've ever had. Everything in the salad was so yummy and all the fixings worked really well together! I would def checking this place out for a chill evening! P.S. don't forget to bring your own marker/ pen for Bingo night but if not, you can borrow one for 25 cents I believe!

Love the Divisadero area, there is so much to do around here and the vibes are high. This is in a great location and a perfect little pit stop if you are looking for cheap food and a drink! The food was great for how cheap it was. I paid 13$ for a good chicken sandwich on crispy toasted bread and a small side Cesar salad that came with the food. Overall loved the food and would recommend. The service was great, lovely place and the owner was very nice. He was quick to take my order even though it was quite busy!

Really love the convenient location and late hours. Dropped by for some food since most other places were closed! Got a chicken quesadilla and a pizza, both very good. Also got some draft beers, my favorite was the fruity sour (red colored beer) that I don't remember the name of. I loved that even at 11/midnight on a Sunday, there were tons of people and actually a few parties playing pool

Fly dranks, bartenders, and vibes. Laidback but trendy neighborhood bar on diviz. This is a good size bar with plenty of seating, table tops, tvs, and a pool table. I love the local artwork displayed and the lights everywhere. It really livens up the moody space. This is a casual spot to grab a bite and drinks. They have a nice selection of can drinks/seltzers, a fun cocktail menu, and decent food menu (it's a bar). Fly Bar is easily one of my boyfriend and I's favorite bars in the city. One of the main reasons we frequent this spot is for the $6 "add shot to any drink" special. They offer 3 different shot options and espolon tequila is one of them. A freaking steal! Not only do we love the drink special, but the bartenders are soooo nice, another reason we keep coming back. Oh! and our dogs can come here with us. Love that. I've also dabbled into a few food items. They have solid buffalo wings. SF Trivia hosts free bingo on Monday nights. Trivia nights are on Tuesdays. Def check them out if you like an easy goin bar.

This is such an awesome neighborhood bar for food and drinks! They have an outdoor parklet, pool table, and tv's to watch games that aren't so big they ruin the atmosphere. Best of all this is conveniently located near the Alamo Square dog park!

Loved the laid back, casual atmosphere with retro quirky "fly" posters/decor on the walls. Lots of seating available on a Sunday evening, a single pool table inside, friendly helpful service, and the strong cocktails. Of course we came here hungry, and the funky chicken pizza and buffalo wings did not disappoint. Cheesy, flavorful slices with a sweet bbq sauce and a nice balance of toppings (we even added prosciutto to the pizza). It was yummy! The wings had just the right amount of spice, and came with fresh and crispy celery and carrot sticks that I wanted to take home to my bunnies for easter, but we were so hungry, we ate those too! :D

Stumbled into this bar after seeing a show at The Independent, greeted by a pair of very friendly bar tenders and immediately felt at home. There's a ton of cool artwork on the walls and the vibe is very casual. Wish I could pull some details from my fuzzy memory, but I'm sure we had a great time. Beer was cold, I'm sure of that.

Fly Bar had a decent food selection in addition to drinks and cocktails. They had a lot of outdoor seating too that was dog friendly. There were a a couple options for pizza and I loved the veggie one, and it was pretty affordable for the portion size. We also ordered wings and a salad which I thought were ok. Overall thought this was a nice bar with good outdoor seating and food!

We came for the trivia night on Tuesdays at 7:30pm. Be warned - it's ridiculously hard trivia. This is not just trivia you can cheat and google on your phone either. Mixed with a couple of drinks, our group got 12th place. But, the drinks are decently priced and we had a great time! We had sake bombs, sangria and a few mixed drinks and the tab was surprisingly low. Heavy pours and fun times overall! They also now have bingo nights on Monday, which requires no obscure knowledge and sounds more down my alley. But, if you know random facts about comedians from the 50s, then make sure to reserve a spot over on their Instagram page (it sells out always!)

The Fly Bar is a great local bar with a pub feel that is great for a casual drink out, week-day trivia night, or impromptu drinks with friends or on a date. This is worth the check-out if you find yourself on Divisadero! This is a great stop for some bar-food and a sports game, or a game of pool!

The 4 of us shared all our dishes. I was disappointed Elena's chopped salad was not on the dinner menu and only served during lunch. Our waitress was Laurel. She was very sweet and accommodating as we were celebrating two wedding anniversaries. We shared Baja fish tacos, steak quesadillas, enchiladas and carnitas. We Should have ordered one less entree and maybe the corn as we had too much food and didn't order a salad. My hubby raved about the steak quesadillas. I think we went more for the ambience. There was a lot of refried beans and rice. I loved the chips and salsa. The chips were so thin and crispy. I had a frozen dole whip margarita which was a little too frothy for me. I think I'll order the frozen margarita next time. I did really enjoy the limon Box cake. It had a limey tart flavor like key lime pie. Laurel was kind enough to put two sparklers on it. A lot of people was celebrating birthdays with sparklers. Elena's is definitely a high end Mexican restaurant.

As much as I love West Portal for its small town main street sort of charm and its collection of…read morehistorically mom and pop businesses, it was pretty exciting when news broke about Elena's opening up here. Not only has West Portal been attracting more and more new eateries and restaurants, but the neighborhood has never really had a legitimately trendy spot like this before either! Owned by the same folks as Original Joe's and Little Original Joe's down the street, the look and feel of Elena's is definitely a lot more upscale than most other places along West Portal. Between the high ceilings, modern decor, and overall cozy vibe, Elena's is equal parts "nice" and approachable. Not so coincidentally, the menu is very much the same with higher end dishes and refined versions of classic staples alongside familiar favorites. So, among their starters, soups, salads, seafood dishes, fajitas, tacos, enchiladas, entrees, and specialties, you'll find the likes of ribeye aguachile, dungeness crab enchiladas, and a whole branzino mixed in with ground beef crispy tacos, steak fajitas, house made tamales, and a burrito. -- MEXICAN MULE - Espolon Reposado Tequila, Fresh Lime, Blood Orange Ginger Beer, Orange...$16 This was pretty good! Love the Mexican twist on a classic mule, but what won me over the most was the orange twist from the blood orange ginger beer and the orange juice. Yum! -- CEVICHE TOSTADA - Halibut, Avocado, Tomato, Cucumber, White Onion, Cilantro, and Mayonnaise...$18 Although this wasn't the ceviche I've had, this was pretty solid. There was a decent amount of halibut, there was a good balance of the accompaniments, and this wasn't overly acidic. -- WHOLE CRISPY BRANZINO with Cucumber Radish Salad, Salsa Morita, and Flour Tortillas...$44 As good as this looked, it was a bit of a miss. On the plus side, I loved that the fish was moist and deboned. However, while the outside was crispy, it also felt chalky/dry and the fish, as a whole, needed more seasoning. -- ESQUITES - Mexican Street Corn with Jalapenos, Arbol Lime Aioli, Cotija, and Cilantro...$15 All in all, this was pretty solid. Part of me wishes this was cheesier, like Korean cheesy corn, but I loved how well the different spices, cojita, and lime aioli mixed together. -- DUNGENESS CRAB TOSTADAS with Avocado and Grapefruit Slices...$21 (+$7 for an extra one) Not bad, but, surprisingly, not as good as the ceviche tostadas. Mostly, I didn't find the crab meat to be as flavorful (nor plentiful) as I thought it would be. -- SHREDDED BEEF ENCHILADA with Guajillo Chili Sauce and Served with Rice and Refried Pinto Beans Topped with Cheese, White Onion, and Cilantro...$31 Ehh...this was fine. Thankfully, the shredded beef was still tender and not nearly as chewy as I feared it'd be. I also thought the enchilada sauce was pretty good, but everything else was no different than what you can find elsewhere. -- QUESABIRRIA TACO - Slow Cooked Beef, Melted Cheese, Consomme...$22 Easily, the best thing I've had here. Although the tortillas felt a little slick (Inherent to quesabirria), the meat was flavorful, the cheese was gooey with crispy edges, and the consomme tasted great and wasn't too thin. In addition to the dishes I've tried, Elena's complimentary chips and salsa is terrific - both are similar in style to what Chevy's offers, but a whole lot better. Plus, the service here is pretty solid as well. The hostesses do a good job of managing the line and every server I've had has been super friendly and helpful. However, as many of my fellow Yelpers have already done so, I'd be remiss not to acknowledge that the prices here are undeniably higher than your average Mexican restaurant. I'm sorry, but $31 for shredded beef enchiladas is hefty, regardless of how much better it is than a typical ground beef one. Based purely on taste alone, I don't think it'd be unreasonable to say Elena's is a four star spot (or close to it). However, when you factor in price and the wait (if you don't have a reservation), I'm not sure the food is "worth" the time and money relative to what you can find elsewhere. While they might be worth the occasional splurge, like for their quesabirria, THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down feels about right.

Everything was delicious and had that hometown BBQ feel. The portions were so generous, we even had leftovers! What made it even better was that we caught happy hour, which runs separately from restaurant week. For $10 you get a pint of beer or cider plus a well shot... hard to argue with that. Reasonably priced drinks on top of an already solid meal made this one of the better value outings I've had in SF. Already thinking about going back outside of restaurant week, and knowing that with its generous portions we can probably share next time.

For those of us who only eat outdoors, there are a few tables outside the bar that are pretty comfortable although it can get windy. From the minute we arrived, we were greeted with friendliness, all of the menus we might need, and an explanation of drinks, beer and wine. We chose to go all out and got a small pizza, their delicious onion dip, meatballs - more on that later - and buffalo wings. I was a bit disappointed that the happy hour wine was a Chardonnay and not the Ferentino that they let me taste, but the replacement house May logger was delicious. My husband had a steam beer, which was also very good. Throughout the service was impeccable, and we actually met the manager, Jon, who had a long conversation with us about the history of the bar and how they were trying to be a neighborhood comfortable place which they certainly have succeeded at. Now for the food - the meatballs were the best I have ever had in San Francisco and I am Italian from New York so that's saying something. We actually let Jon know who told the chef and it turns out the chef is from New Jersey so that makes a lot of sense. The onion dip is something like I've never had before. It's a crème fraîche with scallions I think? And maybe a bit of garlic and housemaid chips. We ate every single bite and actually dipped our pizza crust in the rest of the dip. The margarita pizza was also very good and as I finished it off for lunch today, I can tell you it's just as good the next day. The buffalo wings were what I would call actual buffalo style - I could taste the butter, hot sauce and garlic powder like back in the day on the East Coast. The chicken itself was good, not fatty, and the sauce was just like I want it. They offered ranch and blue cheese dip, which was great. We then had further conversations with almost all the staff who were so welcoming and friendly. We don't live super nearby, but I know we're going to go back to dinner, because I am dying to get their pork chop that looked really good. They also came and helped us put the stuff in boxes and explained the best way to take pizza home, which I never knew before. I can't wait to go back again
