The majority of the tasting area is outdoors, you can bring your own food/snacks & have yourself a little picnic. I made reservations for our group of 8 about 2 weeks prior, our table was reserved by the time we got there. Instead of doing tastings, we decided to order 3 bottles of wine for the table & it was very enjoyable. We ordered the Ukiyo Rosé, 2018 Estate Chardonnay & the 2018 Estate Pinot Noir. This was our favorite wine tasting of the day in Petaluma! I came with 2 friends while our husbands coached at the lacrosse tournament. I called earlier in the week and they said they only accept walk-ins, no reservations. We showed up around 11am only to realize they don't open until 12pm! We ended up having time later in the day and came back; I'm so glad we did! The views from the moment you pull up to the vineyard are breathtaking. We came in November, so the rolling hills of the vineyard were all glowing bright yellow in the sunlight. You drive up a winding road to the main tasting room building. Ann was AMAZING! She was so nice, knowledgeable, and fun--she kept saying it was Sunday Funday and certainly made it feel that way for our group! We sat outside past the patio at a picnic table so we could be close to the vineyards. They have a few different tasting menus but Anne said she would pour whatever we were interested in trying. This was the first time I've tried a Rose Pinot! We even got to try 2 Pinots side by side at the same time so we could taste the difference. The MK Pinot was my favorite and is the bottle I ended up purchasing. We had such a fun time here, you can't beat the views and having someone like Ann assisting you! It is such a laidback atmosphere and we could have stayed here all day. I heard about this place because they are on the Priority Wine Pass. When I asked about the wine pass discount, she said it is Sunday Funday and that we could just do the tasting for free! Excellent spot. Beautiful setting on top of a hill. Bob was excellent. We arrived right at opening and it was drizzling outside. He said I could bring my dog inside rather than sit on the patio. Normally, the patio would be beautiful-- great views. But thankfully, we stayed inside. The dog got a bowl of water and we had our tastings. They had two menus. One was pinot noir based and the other was white/red. I had the pinot noir tasting for $20 and it was excellent the bottled wine is very affordable and you can get the tasting price waived if you buy two bottles. The Pinots were $15-30 per bottle, which is a great price for the area. My mother had the white/red tasting and enjoyed it as well. Bob was behind the bar and very knowledgeable about the wines and the property. They have 3 tasting flights available. Bob recommended the red flight and we enjoyed all of the wines, even purchasing a few bottles which were very affordable. I do miss Lynne but the new server, Patricia, is very nice and professional, the vibe there is great, and they continue to support and provide local music. The wine is very good, all from estate grown grapes, and how lucky we are to have such a nice venue with an amazing view so close to us. A few months ago, our family flew in from the East Coast and we drove to Sonoma and as you can imagine, wine tasting was on the top of the list of things to do. We visited Karah Estate and the gentleman there was very informative and friendly. We really enjoyed the Pinot Noir. Of all the tasting places we visited, Karah was our favorite vineyard. Earlier this month, we placed an order online to send to our family in the East Coast as a house warming gift and also to reminisce about the great time we had. Our credit card was charged and we were expecting the wine to be sent on a few days. A couple weeks went by without the wine being sent. I called and spoke with the manager who helped promptly ship the wine. I received an email confirmation with the ship to address in the East Coast. Today, we were very disappointed when the wine arrived at our house as opposed to our family member. We paid $20 for shipping and didn't want to resend the package. I suppose we will need to find another house warming gift. On the positive note, the wine was carefully and securely packaged. I'd recommend going to Karah to enjoy the wine but avoid their online service. read more

Five stars for the view, the staff, and the deck + grassy area to sit and take in the beauty that surrounds! I was driving and responsible for our two small kids, so no real wine drinking for me but my husband enjoyed it and the staff was very friendly and very kind and inclusive of our kids, it's such a "little thing" but just saying "hey bud!" and "cool toy!" was really nice. I'm nonstop monitoring when we are out in public at restaurants/wineries to make sure our kids aren't disruptive so this really helped to ease my stress. They said they are known for their reds and I'm more of a white kind of gal so not sure if I'd go back, but if I were out there with friends who prefer red I'd definitely stop! read more

We live close to the vineyard and these people are very disrespectful with there neighbors in the late summer months. They have air cannons that are not managed very well and we have to listen to them all times of the hours of a day. There are other ways to manage birds. Might possible suggest that the owner might want to take a basic vineyard management class. In the past years there has been some illegal growing of a green substance on this place in the main house. This has been shut down a few times. This is a shady business and do not recommend wasting your time on this shitty wine. Go to dry creek or Alexander to visit real winery's. read more

What a delightful experience! We stopped in on a Sunday and were the only ones there. Our wine guide was so much fun and informative and poured us over 8 or so wines. We loved a lot of the choices and ended up walking away with 3 bottles. We didn't get charged a tasting fee for buying some bottles, which was a lovely surprise. We recently picked up a pair of Priority Wine Passes and we decided to give Karah Estate a try. It was a great deal and close to our house. We called and made an appointment for the afternoon and were seated on a pleasant terrace when we arrived. Situated on a hillside in Cotati, the nice folks at Karah are working hard on making great Pinot Noir. The vibe is relaxed and the tasting is all done outdoors. We really enjoyed the offerings and purchased some very fairly priced Pinot to take with us. The Rose' and sparkling we also unique and quite tasty. Managed to escape the smoke and poor air quality today by driving to Petaluma for wine tasting on the outdoor patio. It's beautiful! There are umbrellas and a wind shield to keep it comfy. Dogs allowed. We did the Estate tasting for $15 and the reserve tasting for $20. We actually liked everything on the Estate menu, and liked it better than the Reserve wines. The Chenin Blanc is tropical and worth stocking up on. The Chardonnay was what you would expect from a nice oaky Chardonnay. The pinots were fun to explore because they ranged in style and vintage, from young and fruit forward due to a carbonic maceration to more aged flavors. This is a great spot to taste and then picnic with a bottle of wine overlooking the hills. read more

I have a priority wine pass (https://prioritywinepass.com/) and it's one of the winery listed. So out of all other ones in Sonoma, this was slightly closer one. So I decided to visit there. It was my first time visit for this vineyard. There are plenty of patio seating and some inside seating. They are very lay-back team and we enjoyed both pino and white/rose tasting course. At the end, we decided to have a bottle to stay longer because it was REALLY peaceful and take another one to go. So they waived one of our tasting fee. This is such a fun place to go wine tasting. We went on labor day weekend and it just so happened to be an extremely hot weekend but the patio seating had plenty of shade. Service was very friendly and we ended up loving nearly all the wines we tried. You can bring food for picnicking which was a definite highlight. There's plenty of social distancing and staff wear masks. Dog friendly patio and water bowls available. Came here Friday July 12, 2019 around 2:30pm. Let me start by saying that if you're looking for a relaxing and classy tasting this place is not it. My husband and I came here and we knew from the moment we pulled onto the property it was going to be bad. There were weeds around the vineyard, trash on the ground as you drove up, no landscaping whatsoever, and basically the place was not well kept or even barely kept. I could go on about the nonexistent visual appeal but I'd be here all night. PROS: - Patio that looks over the vineyard - somewhat cute tasting room - staff was very nice - $15-$20 tastings CONS: - tasting room was unlike the rest of the place but it was still weird and looked like they threw it together. It didn't reflect the property or your experienced driving in. - there were kids running around barefoot and putting their bare feet on the furniture and coffee table. No one addressed that. YUCK!!!! We didn't sit down - when asked questions about the wine description the tasting server said he didn't know. It was about the process in the tasting description. He has been there a couple years but isn't an expert on the wine. Moving on - the area to park is greeted with an old abandoned car that hasn't moved and tons of stuff and barrels, not in a cute way. Disastrous. Disorganized, not well kept - practically everything here was Pinot noir. That's fine - FLIES, FLIES, FLIES!!! So many flies in the tasting room This is probably one of the worst wineries I've gone to and I would not return nor recommend it to anyone. The views and patio are both extremely lovely. Our host was amazing, she really took care of us and she was the only one on the grounds with multiple other customers sitting on the patio. We never felt neglected or that we were waiting too long in between wines. Loved that we got a paper describing every wine we tasted. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Karah Estate is beautiful, unpretentious, easy to get to, and affordable. It's located right off 101, but the hills and the vineyards line up such that you get the convenience of the highway being right there without it ruining the view. The young man pouring our wine was happy to field all of our questions and gave us quick service without making us feel rushed. We used the Groupon, which included a bottle to take home. I organized a large group tasting here and everyone had a great time! Karah was helpful and accommodating to our groups schedule. We enjoyed the wine tasting on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We appreciated the indoor and outdoor seating available, though with great weather we were mostly outside. Plus they have corn hole to help entertain between tastings. Do not patronize this business! They are unethical and disrespectful! They abuse the use of their propane canons every year with no respect for the neighboring homes. They start the multiple cannons, which are way above safe decibel levels as early as 6:30 am until 9:00 pm at night and sometimes forgetting to turn it off all night! The neighbors have had to call the sheriff to turn them off. There are small children and animals who are being directly affected by this insensitive and inappropriate behavior. They surely don't abide by the Sonoma County Agriculture outlined protocol. Very poor business management and terrible wine to boot! read more

We decided to stop for a tasting on a whim while driving back from Guerneville, met the wine maker (she's amazing, it's great to see a wine maker that's our age - so talented) and ended up leaving with a case. This place is formerly known as Windy Hill. Same vintner, same grapes. You can even get some of the same Windy Hill labeled wines. And the new style under the Karah label. Great Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. My favorite is the 2010 Pinot Noir. I believe the guy who works here is Bill. He is very knowledgable and a hoot. Also this winery has a wonderful view towards west Sonoma county. Tasting fee is only $5. It may be out of the way from the other wineries, but worth a stop. read more

After leaving Graton casino, we decided to check out a winery, it was getting close to 5 pm so most places were going to close, found that this place was on our way home and it had some good reviews so we checked it out. Unfortunately we were disappointed. First is the positives, recently they have decided to give tastings for free and you get 9 different wines to try. But the biggest thing is Bill the tasting room manager. He is very entertaining, knowledgeable, has a lot of great stories, and just makes the entire time very pleasant. Because of him I wish I could give the place a better review, but I can't. Also the setting is pretty nice, you are up on a hill, with not too bad of a view. The entrance to the winery is pretty easy to miss as we did our first time around. My wife, sister in law, and I are not big time wine people, but we know a good wine when we have one, but in our opinions what they had were not that good. I thought over all they were pretty bland, to my sister in law and wife they could hardly stand it. One wine we did like which was a bottle from 2003 that the vineyards thought was bad and wanted to junk it, but through the years it got better and was actually pretty good. Another odd thing about this place was where the stock room was, it was in its own room inside the bathroom, which we did not find out until we were leaving. To me that's just not the most sanitary place to keep stock. The tasting room itself is not really fancy either, kind of feels like your hanging out in someones kitchen. I have a feeling people agree too because from what we are told hardly anybody stops by for tastings, we were the second people to drop in, and we came in just before closing on a Saturday. I would say if your in the area, it can't hurt to try it out for yourself since everyboyd likes different things, and the tasting is free. Bill it such a great guy to chat with as well.
