We have been coming here periodically and still the place remains consistently good with little change in quality. Overall, everything in my original review from 2018 is still true. The coffee is basic and mediocre but not bad or acrid. The corned beef hash is consistently just the same and as great as before and remains a go-to here for us. Recently, we also got waffles with strawberries, etc., and they were good, not outstanding, but good, basic waffles with nothing wrong and quite satisfying. 3.5 stars. Toast is still nicely buttered in our experience. Buttermilk pancakes we got recently, after a long hiatus, were perhaps not quite up to ones I'd had here before but still good. maybe 3.5. Service is fine. Again, we have only ever been here for breakfast. Prices have gone up but are still comparatively low. read more

The food was edible. The service was bad. The older lady serving seemed like she was in a bad mood. I know we all have bad days but we shouldn't bring it to work. Also the saucers for our tea cups were dirty and had hair. Like when you trim your hair not just 1 or 2 hairs and not just on mine also on my son's. I have not been to Luigi's in a while. We went around noon and it was not busy and we received good service but not great. The waitress treated us promptly and took our order without writing anything down. Maybe she should have as I asked for wheat toast but received white and the other member with me as for an English muffin but we had to get her attention after she dropped everything off at our table. She was sitting so obviously had forgotten as she had to get up and go to the toaster and grab an English muffin to toast. The other person had pancakes and bacon and they were good, and I had a potato scramble. It was OK, nothing outstanding although the portion was larger than I expected. The coffee we ordered was just above warm but tasted good. I would eat here again if someone else wanted to but would not go out of my way to come back. Came to Luigi's specifically for their Sunday Brunch all you can eat Buffet. Can't think of another place in Santa Rosa offering a breakfast buffet. I've never been to Luigi's before though I know it's been there for many years. For the brunch buffet they had a variety of eggs, pancakes, French toast, waffles, potatoes, breakfast burritos, rice, beans, bacon, sausage, Mexican meats, fresh fruit, and parfaits. I arrived at the start of the buffet so the line was full and fresh. It was neatly laid out on the front counter bar. If you like options and all you can eat it is satisfactory. It was $22, almost the same cost of a breakfast plate elsewhere. Beverages are not included. It would be great if they had some pastry options (muffins/danish) or a couple sweets to complete the buffet experience. Service was quick and friendly. It doesn't seem that their brunch buffet is widely advertised as it wasn't very busy during my visit. read more

Went to dinner here by myself on a whim. The place has been there half my life and I've only eaten there once. Waitress was less the friendly, I ordered a bacon burger well done and asked for the fries to also be well done. I got a burger that was medium rare and the fries were barely cooked. The yelp description said "large servings and affordable". That was from 9 years ago just like the menu on yelp is. The new description should be small servings, high price, meh service It's always a rub when you don't get what you asked for and when the vibe is one that it's u comfortable to say anything about it. I ate the burger and fries and left the waitress a generous tip, I hope it made her feel like she should treat the next guy like me with a little more courtesy. I haven't been to Luigi's for several years. It was good when I did go several times back then. The restaurant has obviously been sold since I last ate there. I stopped in for breakfast yesterday at 12:00. There were no other customers inside. Should have been a clue. The tired looking elderly waitress was sitting on a stool. She was not smiling. I ordered biscuits and gravy with eggs (only comes with 2 link sausages so I ordered a side of bacon), a glass of milk and a glass of water. The water never arrived. The milk was delivered with the meal and did not have the consistency or flavor of whole milk. I ordered the eggs over medium but they came scrambled. The sausage was passable. The bacon was barely cooked and very fatty. The biscuits and gravy were mediocre. The waitress was busy on her computer so I had to get up and put money in front of her face to get her attention and my change. It used to be a good place to eat. Not any more. read more

I like this place - it's not a place I would recommend for my friend's visiting the area per se, but it's good food. The waitress that's there most often is very courteous, prompt, and has obviously been doing it a long time. I mostly get a scramble or omelet here - it's not over or under cooked, the potatoes are good, it's cheesy the way I like it. The chairs are a little high for the table - and you have to know that this is a DINER folks - not an Italian Restaurant as most would suppose - it's just a neighborhood diner that puts out hot food promptly. read more

Please don't go here. I hardly ever write reviews, but this place is THAT bad that I felt it necessary to warn others. The food is bland and terrible. I ordered a Greek salad, the lettuce was old, yellow, and wilted and farthest thing from fresh, as was the cheese. The service was non-existent unless you call being pushed to leave service. I came in with my boyfriend and my 2 children. The place was empty aside from one table of patrons in the back. From the time we walked in, the server was unhappy to see us and very unpleasant. Bringing our check practically with the food and asking if we needed boxes to go 3 minutes after the food was delivered. I don't see why we were rushed out from the empty restaurant, maybe because my boyfriend is black? I'm not sure, but I do know the other (white) patrons carried on long conversations well after they finished their plates while we were offered boxes only moments after we received our plates. I would give this place four stars but no more because of the clientele. We had breakfast after a dr. appointment. I had the roast beef sandwich and while it was hard to eat with one hand (I'll be in a sling for awhile) it was tasty, not dried out, and quite good. My husband had a breakfast skillet. The staff were friendly and attentive. Our problem was the Poor White Trash woman and her children that decided to sit in the next booth. The woman held forth on the undesirability of her daughter's boyfriend (who sounded like a very nice young man), her daughter's sex life (??? who does this in public???) and her general thoughts of people. Her kids tried to get her to shut up or at least keep it down, but she proclaimed she had no problems with anyone listening. We DID have a problem listening as it was way too much information about strangers and totally nasty. I wish the staff had tossed her out, but oh, well. And while I agree with much of what Rew C.'s review of 5/13/15 says, Luigi's does their Italian offerings a cut above their other very good offerings, thus meriting their Italian-sounding name. At least this applied to their Chicken Parmigiana and Linguini with Clam Sauce. As I was with a party of seven for dinner, with bites being shared. Those were the only two Italian dishes ordered and took 5 star honors. Other orders were Bacon Lettuce and Tomato sandwich, Bacon Burger, Meatloaf, and two had Chicken Fried Steak. Drove by and did a u-turn to check out this hole in the wall, and so glad we did! The food was fresh and flavorful. We had an order of waffles with eggs and bacon, and an omelette order with hash browns, toast and a side of bacon. Everything was delicious. The waitress was very helpful with recommendations and substitutions in our orders. She was so friendly and always smiling. Food, drinks and a 35% tip was only $30. I don't know how to fairly review my experience - I think most of my issue with my meal is what I ordered.... but at the same time shouldn't everything on the menu be order-worthy? The kids menu is.... weird. I ordered a kids burger with fries for my son, and was expecting a mini sized meal. Nope, it was a full blown burger just without any fixings, including cheese (which we expected since its listed as a hamburger). It and its accompanying fries were really good - but just SO large for a kid. Plus the price was darn near $8. I ordered the chicken fried steak which is (traditionally) cube steak. This wasn't, I'm not sure what kinda steak it was but it was on the medium-rare side with lots of red juices trapped since it was battered and fried. The batter got a little over cooked/burnt so the whole meal had this slightly burnt taste to it. It was covered in a weird light gravy, where traditionally it comes with a country style. It really wasn't something I could eat so I left it. The service was really good, and had I said something I probably could have gotten a new meal but it was late, my kid was cranky and we needed to get home. All in all, I can't fairly say this place sucked - their burger was tasty and most of the sandwiches other patrons ordered looked good. read more

The name suggests Italian food but really this is just a general purpose diner/coffee shop, as far as food quality and pricing it's the mom-and-pop approximate of Denny's. Not sure what the deal is with the 2.99 breakfast in the window, probably a sign that should have been taken down years ago. Instead there's a $5 breakfast special of 2 eggs, 2 pancakes and your choice of bacon/sausage/ham. Again, think Denny's/Costco in terms of quality. The eggs and sausage were passable for the price, though I couldn't make it through much of the pancakes. I remember having a burger for lunch here, to be fair it was like over a year ago, but it was the same deal, inexpensive but meh quality. The other breakfast combos and lunch are generally $6-$8.50 range it seems. Also not sure why anyone priced this place "moderate", most meals with drink and tip are under $10. About the most inexpensive breakfast you'll find in the area short of fast food, the Piner diner down the street is a little more pricey but better quality. The food really only deserves 2 stars but 3 for very nice service and seriously, what do you expect at $5 a plate. read more

Gross! I have been here 2 times now, unfortunately both were disgusting. Don't know how anyone thinks food here is good. I took 2 bites of breakfast and gagged. My son couldn't eat his either. My husband said the food used to be good. Overall people were nice, but service both times has been poor due to lack of staffing. My suggestion to owner is fresh food (seems like all the food is non perishable fake stuff) a decent cook and someone who can run the place better. read more
