Went here on a Sunday night around 6:30 and was seated very quickly. My wife and I decided to sit inside since it was a bit chilly but looks like they have nice outdoor seating. Got the focaccia bread and for entrees I got bolognese and my wife got the pesto spaghetti with the GF rummo noodles. The bread was tasty and a big portion! My wife enjoyed her pesto spaghetti and I enjoyed my bolognese, however, the bolognese was very spicy. I didn't see any mention of chili flakes on the menu and I never send food back unless it's undercooked or the wrong meal. I ate it but boy it was spicy! A quick look at some other reviews showed me others have complained about the spicy bolognese. Bolognese is not normally spicy so it's definitely a bold choice of this restaurant to throw those in without warning. So, BE AWARE of that!! I'm still giving 5 stars because our server was super friendly, the restaurant was clean, comfy, and great location. And our food was tasty! Really enjoyed Acre Pasta! Super cute casual Italian in The Barlow (which is hopping!), with really attentive service. We started with a Cappelletti Spritz (basically an Aperol spritz but not Aperol, and I kind of liked it better), some olives, meatballs, and the burrata toast. All were delicious! For our mains, we had the Bolognese (one with burrata and one without) and the spaghetti with Sunday Red. They made it a point to mention several times that the Bolognese had nutmeg in the sauce (NOT cinnamon as someone else posted. That would be very different.) and made sure it was okay with us. When the Bolognese came out, we discovered that they had red pepper flakes on them. My son doesn't like spicy, so we had them make another one without (took only a few minutes and we brought the other one home). It was delicious and you can definitely taste the nutmeg. We're happy we have another order! Everything was amazing. The portions were plenty. We didn't even have room for dessert and I kind of wanted that olive oil cake! Can't wait to come back. read more

I was excited to hear Acre was opening a restaurant that focuses on handcrafted pasta. The menu is rather simple with a couple options for salads and sides and then six pastas that you can add protein and veggies. They also have a couple dessert options and a simple drink menu with a couple non-alcoholic options and a couple of wine options. They have a good amount of seating al fresco as well as a quaint dining room with green walls and decorations. The kitchen is in the middle of it all and you can see your food being crafted with care. I ordered the grilled garlic bread, which is a must try! It comes with two slices and is grilled to perfection. For the pasta, I ordered the tagliatelle with pesto, snap peas and asparagus. It was very light and refreshing. I also added burrata to the pasta. The staff was attentive throughout my visit. This is a great addition to the Barlow! I can't wait to come back soon and try more of their menu! read more

I just recently learned about Acre's new Pasta-focussed location in the Barlow in Sebastopol - the aptly named Acre Pasta. Since I was in the neighborhood, I decided to give it a try. The menu is focussed, but features a nice range of dishes, from antipasti, salads, sides, pasta plates. They had just opened at 4p, about a half hour beforehand, so we were there early and enjoyed sitting on the patio in the afternoon. The service was fantastic, we were quickly seated, served water/menus, and offered information on the menu items. We decided to start with the Caesar, and ordered garlic bread and the Baked Alla Norma pasta. The salad came out quickly and was among the best Caesar salads I have had! The anchovies were firm and delightful, and the mix of lettuce and chicory added depth. The dressing was thick, but not overbearing, and it was topped with fresh breadcrumbs rather than croutons - which ended up providing a light crunch to every bite. Fantastic salad! The Baked Alla Norma was also a surprisingly delightful dish. It appeared to be made of handmade pasta, rolled into little tubes, similar to a penne pasta. The sauce was rich, and filled with bite sized pieces of eggplant and fresh Italian sausage, and topped with the same amazing breadcrumbs used on the salad. We loved every bite! This was kind of a late-afternoon snack, so we didn't have desert, but we were both excited to come back and explore the menu - everything we had was delightful - including the attentive and friendly service! A great new addition to the Barlow! The sign on the door said they would be expanding hours and opening for lunch shortly - so keep an eye out for expanded hours! Before walking over to the Sebastopol Community Center we swung into the Barlow for dinner. Acre Pasta has recently opened and we wanted to try it. The sun was setting but we decided to sit on the patio to soak up the last of the warm sun. Our server was nice and gave us a couple of minutes to look at the small menu. The cappelletti spritz was refreshing and very similar to an Aperol spritz. The grilled garlic bread had great flavors of charred bread and the garlic butter and Parmesan cheese. The pasta dishes were both fantastic, the Papperdelle Al Ragu Bolognese was delicious, with a hint of cinnamon in the sauce that gave it more depth. The Lumache Porcini Cream had a lot of mushrooms in it, to my delight. The cream sauce was thick and stuck to the pasta, making it easy to eat and soak up the last bits of sauce with the bread. This is a great addition to Acre Pizza and I hope they will have more dishes to try in the future. read more

Decided to try Acre Pasta as they recently opened. Food was ok. Not super flavorful, but was filling. I wasn't a fan of the garlic bread, as something about it tasted off, and left a chalky like after taste in both mine and my friends mouth. There's are signs both outside and inside that say "please wait to be seated", so we did. It took us a while to get seated. It seemed like staff was talking to one another and laughing (which is fine to do), however there was a line starting to form behind us. We arrived before the dinner rush so it was not packed inside or outside. Someone finally noticed we hadn't been seated and sternly told the person in charge of seating to sit us down. Inside decor and ambiance is very nice. I loved the colors and decor they chose. Service overall definitely need improvement. Likely won't try again for a while until they are more settled in to give them time to work on the kinks and routine of their establishment. read more

I mentioned that to the owner (not to complain but to let him know). He agreed and comped me, and my wife, two glasses of a fancy red wine. What a nice addition to the Barlow and to Sebastopol. A pretty compact menu but all of the pastas looked so appealing. We had the lumache with mushrooms and the tagliatelle with pesto and both were delicious. I love Giornata's wine so was happy to see their red blend by the glass on the list. The garlic bread, which was almost a flatbread, was only ok. Our server was terrific. The tables were nicely spaced. The interior was playful. The prices were reasonable. We'll be back. read more

Being a long-time Sebastapudlian, I was delighted to find out how totally delicious and (dare I say), reasonably priced the new Acre Pasta is. And it's in the Barlow! Small, but perfect menu. Tender, handmade and adorable pasta. I had the vegan pesto Tagliatelle (No, I'm not a vegan), No basil - it was made from fresh peas, crisp asparagus and a cashew cream sauce with a hint of lime zest. Crazy good! In that "I can't believe I haven't eaten here yet" kind of good. My daughter had the Papperdelle al Ragu which was rich and zesty. Both dishes were super fresh and carefully prepared. It was soooo good! I had pesto pasta and it was perfect. My husband had spaghetti and it was tasty and we loved the whole experience!

Nice idea for a place. Simple menu, good prices, great service. A few things were very well executed. They were as follows: 1) The red sauce, even though not actually a "Sunday Sauce" like they advertised it, was a delicious, bright pomodoro with a nearly perfect consistency. 2) The pasta was expertly finished in the sauce and came out perfectly al dente. I only have one real complaint, but it's kind of significant to me. There was a very strong flavor of cumin (not nutmeg) in the bolognese AND in the meatballs. The meatballs themselves were mediocre at best (not intended as a point against them, seeing as there isn't a respectable meatball within a 2000 mile radius of Sonoma County, save for my house) but the addition of cumin really wasn't doing them any favors. Cumin is a taste that, to my pallet, doesn't really jive with Neapolitan flavors. I don't understand its inclusion here. One more small point of contention: the arugula salad was just a pile of undressed arugula with a lemon wedge on the side. I respect a minimalist approach with a quality vegetable dish, but how about at least a little olive oil and some salt flakes on there? I think they'll work these kinks out eventually. I hope so, because I want them to succeed and I want to come back. I liked the place. read more

We had a great dinner at Acre Pasta last night. The Caesar Salad is a generously portion with real anchovies and a lemony dressing. The pastas (pesto and limone) were tasty without being too garlicky as pesto can sometimes be. The steak was perfectly done. The service was great with the food nicely paced. Zesty, Tasty, but Could Use a Bit More Hospitality No doubt about it--the spaghetti here is zesty and satisfying. The sauce has a nice tang, the pasta is cooked just right, and overall, it hits the spot. Portion-wise, yes--it leans on the smaller side, but it still manages to feel like a decent meal. But here's where it gets a little less generous: no bread included. Not even a couple of slices when asked. The only option? Garlic bread--for $5. That felt a bit off, especially when a simple piece or two of plain bread would go a long way in rounding out the meal. Then there's the meatball situation. I wanted to add some protein, but at $4 per meatball, that felt steep. Two small meatballs for an $8 upcharge? That's a tough meatball to swallow. A more balanced approach--say, three meatballs for $8--would feel a lot more reasonable and customer-friendly. All that said, I'll probably come back. The flavors are solid, and the food is made with care. But a touch more generosity--both in portion size and hospitality--would make this place go from good to great. read more

My family and I visited Acre Pasta for dinner and it was amazing! We got a table for 6 on their patio which was such a pleasant area with great tables and chairs! Their appetizers and salads were amazing and great portions! Between our family, I think we tried all their pastas on the menus. The portions were perfect and all sauces were so flavorful and tasty! Since the pasta was delicious, we tried both their desserts! Also, our server, Daniela was so friendly, courteous and answered all our questions about the menu! The people that own this are amazing. Very small and quaint vibe, but a lot of seating! It is such a great place and even better food I only have one complaint/note... When you eat in the restaurant the portions are decent! I'd say a perfect ration but for take out the portions seem rather small... for the same price... The new lemon caico e pepe is really lacking from what it once was.. Much less flavor, much less seasoning, overall very disappointed compared with my experience a week ago. Overall I would absolutely eat here again and even with the change of recipe, it was still incredible! This place hits all the marks for us. Service is prompt, friendly, and warm. The food is decadent without being too heavy. The menu is simple, yet well curated, no overwhelming lists or frilly details. The ingredients and techniques speak for themselves. We've tried several things and everything we would order again. The caprese salad, the bolognese pappardelle, and the mushroom pasta stand out in particular. We were also spoiled and got try preview of a menu item featuring clams that had the silkiest sauce and was truly lovely. The pricing is reasonable. The ambiance is casual enough to be comfy but charming enough for a nice date night. Don't miss this spot, there's something special going on. Excited to try since it just opened. The food was really wonderful and fresh. Loved the burrata toast. I wanted to give this place a higher review because of that, but I didn't enjoy my service. Our waitress was nice in the beginning, but then rushed us at the end. She came over to ask us to pay bill really abruptly with no offer have dessert or coffee, interrupting our conversation. I didn't see a line so it is unclear why we were basically being asked to leave. I doubt the restaurant will suffer since it is the Barlow, but I am not going to return. The general restaurant was cute and well put together, but the food was deeply average. My boyfriend and I walked in a few weekends ago, ordered some wine and didn't receive it until we asked a server, 30 minutes later and after 4 other tables had been sat and received their drinks. Our water glasses had a significant amount of food in them, and our food itself was... fine. I know they need to make their money, and it's the Barlow, but $5 for a tablespoon of burrata filling just felt disrespectful. I hope they train their (very nice) staff to be more attentive to customers and detail. It has potential to shake out to be a great spot. read more

The pasta with Sunday gravy is a thing of beauty. I love it. The meatballs are excellent and so is the broccolini. Acre pasta may be the greatest new restaurant in the area for my taste in a while. Sorry for the BUT.... but often there is a BUT, the service is just way too nonchalant and just lacking in discipline. You have to ask way too often for everything, especially "when is my food coming?' I'd eat there way more often if I could just get a little attention to detail with service. Go for ambiance, not the food. The best part of the meal was the appetizers; housemade focaccia & pizza, but hey we All KNOW how incredible Acre pizza is. We tried here because of how good their pizza is but Acre pasta fell way flat. For reference We had a meatball & spaghetti, A spaghetti & red sauce, A mushroom pasta w/salmon add on and a pesto pasta. We all agreed the pesto was the only thing we would order again. It tasted like possibly the water that the pasta is being boiled in, may not be changed frequently enough.(??) The mushroom pasta barely had any cream sauce, but I did see pieces of mushrooms. overall the dishes were bland, no garlic or Parmesan . (very traditional & essential for an Italian meal) We asked the server for Parmesan, which helped, but definitely still missing flavor. Disappointed because Acre pizza is SO yummy & thought they would carry that into another place. read more
