    Campanella restaurant (Sebastopol)
    Karalina H.

We were excited to check out this restaurant because of its good reviews and beautiful ambiance. Unfortunately, we were not very impressed with its food. The service was good and fast. My husband ordered the Chicken Parmesan. The chicken wasn't crispy, it didn't have enough flavor, and it was kind of soggy. It didn't taste good. The Pizza we got was flimsy and nothing special. The garlic knots were tasty but very small. Campanella seems overpriced for the quality of food they offer. Yes, both indoor and outdoor dining areas looked great, with beautiful pictures on the walls and nicely decorated tables, but unfortunately, that's not enough. I don't think we will be back.

Good spot for Italian in downtown Sebastopol! Highly recommend getting a spot in the outdoor patio area because it has such a beautiful ambiance (with heaters too when it gets cold) I ordered the steamed clams with linguini which was very solid--I loved the breadcrumbs and there were plenty of clams! I just wish everything wasn't soaking in a bed of liquid butter My friends got the meatball + ricotta pizza which looked very good. I'll have to try that next time!

Oh gosh. I'm obsessed. Excellent service, quality and flavors on point. Campanella is such a gem in Sebastopol! Their menu has all the Italian classics, and everything I've tried has been delicious. The eggplant parmesan is hands-down my favorite--crispy, cheesy, and so comforting. They also have a nice happy hour! Wednesday to Sunday, 3 PM to 5 PM, with a late-night happy hour on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 PM to 9 PM Yay- love local late night options. The cute outdoor patio is perfect for these long summer evenings even into fall. It's a nice enclosure and really pretty when it rains too. It feels cozy but still has a lively atmosphere. A meal here isn't complete without their fresh salad, warm bread, and pizza--especially with that spicy marinara, which gives everything the perfect kick. And I love that they offer Italian sodas, such a fun and refreshing touch. If you're in Sebastopol and craving classic Italian with a warm, inviting vibe, Campanella should definitely be on your list!

This place is legit, authentic, and tastes phenomenal. We had gone for our anniversary, and we honestly weren't sure what to expect. What we got was a true Sicilian experience from start to finish. Everything, and I mean everything was unbelievable, from the meatballs to the spaghetti, to the pasta of the day. Our server was greatly attentive and knowledgeable on the menu, he also just had some authentic personality which was cool. The restaurant inside is gorgeous, and brings to back to a modern 50's era almost, but not quite. Everything about this place was a 5/5, and we didn't even try the pizza!

Campanella Kitchen is service at its finest! This spot was recommended to us by locals and it did not disappoint! Campanella is not only beautifully designed on the inside but also offers delicious food. We sat on the back patio to enjoy some of their new york style pizza. We happened to run into the owner, Thomas, who went above and beyond to welcome us. We started with the Garlic Knots before ordering the Meatball & Ricotta Pizza. Thomas brought out a serving of the Chilled Asparagus for us to sample as it was new to the menu. Every piece of food we tried felt like an old family recipe. The ingredients were notably fresh and made to order. He also brought out some of the basil ranch and bomba macha sauces to pair with the pizza; WOW! Loved our experience at Campanella and so happy we stopped in!

Super cute Italian spot in the downtown Sebastopol area! Came on a reservation with a large group of 11 and sat in the outdoor patio which was a really nice vibe with all the lights and decor. Had the Broccoli Caesar, which was pretty good but not super filling. Tried some of the clam linguine too which I enjoyed, as well as the burrata and garlic bread for apps. The pizzas and pastas here are around the same price, but the pizzas definitely seem more bang for your buck in terms of the food quantity you receive.

We continue to be impressed with the quality of the food at Campanella. We had a lovely dinner this week and were delighted with our meal. We split the little gems salad with is so fresh. My husband ordered the lasagna special and I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. Both dishes were hearty and delicious. Great dining experience.

Read about this place in the Gazette and had to try it, the Garlic knots are amazing, I had the Penne al Vodka and highly recommend it. Great atmosphere and only one person working the front counter and serving but she was on top of everything and provided great service!!

I was so excited to finally see that the space that used to house Flavor finally housed a restaurant that seemed promising for the limited food scene in Sebastopol. The only downfall with the space was the issue of wondering where we could park conveniently as a party with individuals with mobility issues and needing a spot nearby to be able to get them safely to the restaurant. When we first pulled up, the one handicap spot was taken so we had to do a drop off in the driveway of the restaurant. What I appreciated as we were unloading was that (I believe) the manager came up to me and offered me a spot to make it easier for us to leave when the time came since he saw the struggle we were facing getting our party out of the car. That immediately made me happy and even more excited to try their food. As we were seated, I was floored again by the helpfulness and kindness that the staff exuded when it came to our party and our needs. I normally put requests in my reservation notes which sometimes makes me feel I may be a nuisance to the staff or restaurant. Not only was the hostess kind enough to thank us for giving them details of what works for us, but the rest of the staff including the manager(s) went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of as long as we dined. The food here matched the impressiveness of the service here. Everything tastes like it's made with so much compassion and love and feels incredibly homey/familiar even though we aren't even the tiniest bit Italian. Our favorite thing here would have to be the Palisades pizza. It's excitingly delicious and nothing like what you can find in other pizza establishments. The ribs are braised to perfection and have never been dry. The pickled vegetables that come with it are amazing on their own as well and pair really well with the pizzas! Overall with Campanella, it has a convenient location, great food, and impeccable service and it will keep us coming back for as long as they stay open.

I really wanted to love this cute little spot in Sebastopol, but the food was not as impressive as I had hoped it would be. Perhaps we ordered incorrectly. We started with a classic aperol spritz, followed by a tender and tasty green salad, and we shared their special pizza of the night, which was a chicken marsala. The pizza was your basic thin crust, nothing special, there was hardly any chicken on it, but the mushrooms were tasty. Service was friendly . The space is lively and inviting with a very cute outdoor patio. The menu is interesting with several pasta dishes, and of course, the pizzas and salads.

Gorgeous job on the remodel. I made a reservation for inside. Unfortunately, they could only seat us outside. Good thing I brought a sweater. New restaurant, new employees they are friendly but have some room to grow. The food is 5 star. The little gems salad was not only beautiful in presentation, the amount of dressing was perfect, and the crispy capers and shallots elevated it to a whole new level. The pizza was fantastic. Hiccup at the end of the night.

Yup, yes, absolutely Thank you Campanella, thank you for bringing a new amazing restaurant to Sebastopol because we needed something new and delicious and you have nailed it! The basil ranch was perfection, the gnocchi was perfection the mousse cookie thing with almonds was perfection. You are perfection and I can't wait to come back, bravo. Also our server was an absolute pleasure!

I made a reservation for 6pm on the deck as it had seatbacks and my husband has a bad back and can't sit on a picnic table. It's an elevated section above the beer garden, which that night had a singer with guitar. Service was pleasant though a little slow with drinks but they were pretty busy. We both had margaritas to start, which were $16 plus $3 for call brand so $19 each. Pretty good but not too strong. I then had the Hopmunk hefewisen beer which was only $8, much more reasonable. I had the Biergarten cheeseburger on a pretzel bun, cooked perfectly medium rare. Served with caramelized onions, bacon, smoked Gouda and a beer cheese, it was tasty but pretty messy! Cost was $23 plus I subbed a kale Caesar for $2 which was good but not worth the hype as a little dry. Husband had the grilled mole chicken with mole sauce and Spanish rice for $24. It was a large portion with two pieces of chicken and he enjoyed it. We then saw a show in the stone tavern next to the beer garden. It's an intimate venue with not a bad view in the house. We had seats because my husband is disabled so we're right in the front row. Otherwise it was standing only. Great acoustics and venue. I would go there often if I lived in Sebastopol, as it's right near the Barlow and downtown. Definitely recommend for food, entertainment and atmosphere.

We ordered the buffalo wings as well as the steak and frites and their chicken Philly sandwich. The steak plate was pretty good and the wings were also relatively good. The steak does have chimichurri on it and the salad is really good as well or the coleslaw. I can't remember what it came with. The wings taste pretty fresh and they do give you blue cheese and ranch with them, as well as vegetables like carrots and celery. However you are paying $17 for eight wings just a heads up. My friend personally did not enjoy the chicken plate. She felt like the chicken did not taste fresh but quite frankly, we were unable to get our waiters attention throughout our whole time seated there so at the end, we decided to just leave it without saying anything. The service is the reason for the lower rating. I think the food was pretty decent, but the service was not up to par. Service here was mediocre. I will add that I do not say that lightly and I normally do not like saying that about restaurants. I normally understand when service is off if the restaurant is full however this restaurant was pretty empty. At first our server came around twice and then we ordered and once after she brought out the waters. My friend had to ask her twice to bring a lemon for her water because it seems that the server forgot, although from what I could tell, she was really only serving our table and maybe two others. When the food came out I asked if she could refill my water. She said she would be back with more water. However, she literally did not come back until 30 minutes later and that was after my friend had to flag her down and ask her if she could bring us more water. I should also say that this was after we had finished the entire meal, which at that point water was really not necessary. What really pushed the experience over the limit was the server mentioning to us when we were paying that she got off the clock early because it was so slow. Meanwhile I sat there wondering if this was the reason that her service was so awful. While sitting there eating, I did notice that in general service was a problem for this restaurant... I noticed another customer walked in and sat for a while and wasn't spoke to. When he asked them if they were still serving food, he was responded to rudely. I also noticed another customer asked in regard to the menu and another server told him that the menu was over there on the other side without giving any direction. Aesthetically speaking, the spot is really cute. There's a lot of lights. They have a lot of plants however, based on the service, I don't think I would come back here. My friend who has been coming here for many years was actually shocked at how bad the service was today and said that this was pretty abnormal. Who knows maybe it was an off day. Either way after being unattended for more than 30 minutes and ignored it didn't really leave any reason to come back here again.

Our server was incredibly friendly, and the entire room shared the same warm, easygoing vibe. The small, speakeasy themed space was already packed at 5 PM, so reservations seem like a must. Everything we ordered was well-prepared and delicious, but the standout dishes were the beet salad and the shrimp & grits. The beet salad had a perfect mix of textures; chopped pistachios, tender beets, and crunchy radishes over a pillowy ricotta. I finished the salad wishing there was more. The shrimp & grits featured a potlikker sauce that absolutely lived up to the hype; it made the dish. I wish the shrimp & grits were served in a bowl rather than a shallow dish. I found myself chasing the sauce and polenta around the plate, trying not to push it over the edge. That said, if it were in a bowl, I might have just drank the sauce, so perhaps this is the restaurant's way of preserving a bit of dignity for its guests. Next time, I'm hoping to visit when oyster po' boys and fried green tomatoes are on the menu.

We hit happy hour, and wow--it's a good one. Tons of interesting bites and a solid drink lineup. I went with a whiskey sour, my friend had the ginger beer on draft (very refreshing), and we shared the prawns, Brussels sprouts, and creamy mac & cheese. Everything was seriously delicious. Shoutout to our server, Melanie--friendly, attentive, and totally on it, even with the place packed. A couple things to note: it does get loud, so maybe not your spot if you're after a quiet, intimate dinner. Also, the happy hour menu listed Brussels sprouts but didn't mention bacon--I'm vegetarian, so that was a bit of a surprise. (It is noted on the regular dinner menu, which I admittedly didn't check.) All in all, such a fun, lively spot. I'll definitely be back for more bites and cocktails.

Unfortunately, what brought my rating down to three stars was the service. For a relatively simple meal - oysters to start and one entrée each - the pacing was surprisingly slow. We waited nearly 20 minutes for our plates to be cleared, another 10 for the dessert menu, and after an additional 15-minute wait we ended up canceling dessert altogether, as the evening had stretched to two hours and we had a long drive ahead. To be fair, the tables around us seemed to have a smoother experience, so perhaps we caught them on an off night. Food is served tapas style and honestly, all the dishes sound appetizing. On this visit, we tried a few dishes. I wish I came with a more empty stomach to try more things. We ordered their crispy maitake mushrooms, steamed local black cod, and grilled house-made lamb sausage. Everything was delicious! The crispy maitake mushrooms came with a fish sauce which gave a nice brightening note to eat with fried food. Lemon was also fried with them to help cut any grease, so overall this dish did not feel oily or heavy. The steamed local black cod's ginger scallion oil surprisingly paired very well with the black truffle pesto. It had an earthy flavor profile that was brightened by the ginger. The cod was perfectly cooked and the mushrooms soaked up all of that saucy goodness. I loved this dish! The grilled house-made lamb sausage was Thai inspired and you could definitely taste the spices in the sausage. I actually would've liked more of the tamarind BBQ sauce and basil salad on this dish to help counter the lamb's spiciness a bit, but I enjoyed the dish. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was excellent and came out quickly. The restaurant is housed in what looks like a historic house, so it was a very cozy environment. We started off with a traditional espresso martini and a pumpkin espresso martini. These were delish!! The pumpkin martini wasn't overly sweet, it had just the right amount of pumpkin flavor.
