Wow first time at Hazel last night and the Chef and staff did not disappoint. Excellent service and cozy intimate vibes with still the ambiance of chatter of guests and clanks from the kitchen. We ordered the vegan Caesar. Those croutons are heavenly! Toasted to perfection, super buttery and disintegrates in your mouth. To share we went with the pot roast. Duh! Huge portion of food, delicious flavors. The meat was very tender fall off the bone meat on a bed of yummy sustainable potatoes. I loved the potato skin! Gravy in that dish is giving Fall in West County with a hint of fog. The drive into this deep small town is worth it. This windy road will definitely lead you to some outstanding Cal-Mediterranean food!

It's restaurant week in Sonoma County this week and if I'm being honest I didn't see a lot of interesting menus. There were a few exceptions and one was Hazel which we have been to many times before. For $40.00 you received a very tasty little gem Caesar salad, choice of entree and choice of some tasty desserts. Plus, since it was a Thursday evening, free corkage on any Sonoma County wine! Started with that Little Gem salad, very nice and perfectly dressed. For entrees we split and shared two different ones. One was the Pork Schnitzel, a huge crispy Schnitzel over smashed potatoes and red cabbage. DELICIOUS! Other entree was also fantastic, braised Pot Roast over smashed potatoes and caramelized onions. Yum! For dessert DW had the Pot du Cream, a cup of chocolate goodness. I had the Brownie Sundae, deep chocolate brownie, smothered with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream with a cherry on top. All in all a great value and a nice way to order and share. Had a very nice Idlewild Red Wine to go with the meal. Service as always was friendly and helpful Restaurant week will be over soon but no problem, just get out to Hazel and enjoy some wonderful food and service

First: If you love mushrooms, you MUST get their mushroom pizza. It's absolutely covered with a variety of fresh wild mushrooms, accented with a light drizzling of truffle oil. Second: if you are bemoaning the small portions / high price points of quality restaurants... Hazel will blow your mind. Huge portions (two adults could easily be full by splitting one app and one main). And somehow still quality ingredients! How do they do it? Finally: friendly and attentive service and an adorable atmosphere.

It was the perfect place to enjoy a cozy dinner on a cold evening. I wasn't sure what to expect and this place was a pleasant surprise. The caramelized onions and Marcona almond pizza was delicious and the pot roast was the warm hug my stomach needed. The short ribs we ordered were fall off the bone tender and had the slightest kick of spice to balance out the sweetness. Our very attentive server let us know the place has a husband and wife team and while the husband tackled entrees, his wife served perfect desserts. I loved my chocolate pot de crème ending to my meal and I hope to be back again soon.

We went here because it had good reviews and was the closest restaurant that served pizza. We were delighted by our visit and would love to return. The vibes were great, the food was delicious, and the service was friendly and kind. We were so full after our meal we didn't feel like we would be able to eat much of the sundae. But another second later I looked down and it was almost all gone! The candied nuts made it so delicious I couldn't stop taking just one more bite!

What a find! The food, from the warm bread to dessert, was delicious. The toppings on the pizzas were generous, the little gem salad- cool and crisp. Not cheap, but worth the drive. If you're into Farm to Table, check it out.

Our latest visit to Hazel was nothing short of spectacular. After dreaming of their incredible pot roast since our last visit following a trip to Osmosis, we couldn't wait to return. This time, without the post-spa haze, we were thrilled to find that the meal was just as delicious as we remembered--and yes, the pot roast is still our favorite. The food and service were both wonderful and welcoming. The Brussels sprouts with bacon were a standout--every Brussels sprout should be prepared this way! The flatbread was so satisfying it nearly put us over the edge, but thankfully our server suggested we take a slice of key lime pie to go. Having tasted what's claimed to be the "best key lime pie" in Key West, we can confidently say Hazel's version is a top contender. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

This was supposed to be a medium rare ribeye steak. The slightest pink would indicate that it was prepared closer to medium well or well.

3 strikes and you're out. A long romantic weekend was planned for my wife and I. I independently chose this restaurant because of its Yelp rating (4.6 stars at the time of this review). I was also optimistic because 2 separate friends who live in the area also spoke highly of the restaurant. We arrived at 6 pm and we were seated next to the only other customers at that time. We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine to start. The bottle was served in an ice bucket and then placed on the table for 2. There wasn't much real estate on the table and was a distraction to our conversation so I moved in on to the floor. The waitress later explained they didn't have any stands. Okay, not a strike but let's call it a foul. First item of the night was fried brussel sprouts. They did not taste right. My wife and I love brussel sprouts, but these had an alkaline after taste. Strike #1. Second item of the night were the ribs. They were good boiled ribs and hence the meat fell off the bone. No negativity for the boiled ribs. What wasn't pleasant was the ketchup and chilli oil sauce on them. Strike #2. Third item of the night, the ribeye steak. Oh the poor ribeye steak. We asked for a medium rare steak. It came medium well to almost well (see pictures). One could make the argument that spices or seasonings chosen appeal to different people, but I think medium rare steak is less subjective. Big strike #3 and we're out. The waitress could see that we weren't eating the dishes and definitely not packing any of it to go. She inquired and so we let her know what the issues were. She did ask what she could do or bring us that would help. We asked for nothing except the bill. In the end they did comp the steak from the bill. We were looking forward to this meal but maybe our Bay Area preferences and expectations did not align with this particular restaurant's cuisine.

Hazel - New American Cuisine Restaurant This pizza is not currently on the menu (but it should be!). But because they are awesome, they went out of their way to make it for me as a special since they had the necessary ingredients on hand, and I have no shame when it comes to bugging them about it. No "Summertime Sadness" here, more like Summertime splendor: farm-fresh summer corn, cherry tomatoes that properly pop in your mouth, fresh summer zucchini, goat cheese sourced from a local farm, and just a drizzle of ancho Chille sauce (I think) for a bit of heat and depth. I'm not sure what "style" the pizza crust is, but it is crispy, chewy, and delicious, and minus the "char" taste that everyone seems to employ - I much prefer this type. Color this girl summertime happy!

A wonderful dinner on my first visit to Occidental! High end quality with small town vibe. Excellent service and a small but interesting and reasonably diverse menu with vegetarian and gluten free considerations. I had vegan Caesar salad, pizza with caramelized onions, almonds and blue cheese and a blueberry crumble for dessert. Super flavors and enough pizza to enjoy tomorrow, too.

Was waiting to come to Hazel for years! Thanks for such a special dinner during my bachelorette weekend! Everyone loved the pizza and salads. The environment is so cute and everyone at the restaurant was super friendly. Can't wait to come back; worth the wait.

Not a great first impression, but would the pizza save the day? Not even close. If you ever ate cafeteria pizza in public schools in the 90s and 2000s, this was worse. The sauce, proudly made in-house, tasted like canned tomato paste, and was covered in a mixture of shredded "mozzarella" and yellow cheese. The dough, also apparently made from scratch, was so stuck to the bottom after just 15 minutes in the box, that you couldn't even lift a slice without it breaking in half. Maybe it was an off night?
