Came here for lunch over the 4th weekend and it was lovely! The sausage sandwich was very tasty as was the natural wine. Great vibe!

Killer Wines, Killer Prices, Killer Vibe…read more Mendo Vino is where Mendocino's wine scene really shines. The wine selection is absolutely fire. This place contains all the local gems, thoughtfully picked, and honestly some of the best around. When I stopped by, Michael was so nice and welcoming. He actually took the time to chat with me, listened to what I liked, and helped me find exactly the right wine no pressure, just genuine advice. Seriously, it felt like having a friend guide me through the shelves and I went home with just the right flavor of wine. And now to the prices. Shockingly good. You get amazing quality without having to empty your wallet. The vibe is cool, chill, and totally unpretentious, perfect for kicking back with a glass and soaking in that Mendocino magic. If you want great wine and a friendly, relaxed spot, Mendo Vino is where it's at.

The wine selection is very good and he does not mark up the bottle prices very much, either…read more However, the manager (or owner?) was pretty rude to us. We asked if they did tastings, and he said no, you usually only buy bottles here. We asked if we could try a specific wine by the glass, but was immediately told no, and that specific bottle is too cheap to offer glasses. The experience was not pleasant. We drank our glass of wine and left. He wasn't even inside the bar to tell us about the wine, either. He spent most of the time on his phone outside and smoking a cigarette. Needless to say, we felt uncomfortable and disappointed.

We came on a Saturday evening in off season (highly recommended) and we really appreciated the level of attention we received and how friendly the staff was. Chef Ryan came out for each course to personally deliver his eye popping plates and to give an explanation as to why we were about to experience a mouth-gasm that evening. The food is very easily consumed by your eyes as it will be by your taste buds. Chef Ryan absolutely flexes on every dish and executes on each course almost effortlessly. These are meticulously crafted plates with amazing taste, this is the definition of quality over quantity. The ambiance was semi private, only a handful of other couples during off season but this was the perfect time to go. The service was excellent including the heated plates to maintain the temperature of your food (but TBH it won't be on your plate very long after you take the first bite) I will absolutely come again to treat myself to Chef's food when I spend my next weekend in Elk.

I did not read reviews before hand which do talk about the small portions, we ate at the restaurant spending $400 and went home to eat again. Beautiful restaurant with attention to detail and intentional design. Bathrooms by reception do stand out, makes them a focal point of the room which seemed like an odd decision. Service was timid, thoughtful and engaging. The food was beautiful and well executed. Chef coming to explain all the dishes was appreciated. Pork Belly- my favorite Hamachi Crudo- my second favorite Short rib- 3rd favorite Most of the table skipped dessert because nothing stood out. Hubs ordered the Matcha ice cream which was beautiful and he enjoyed it.

There was no way we were getting the kids out of the pool and into dry clothes before 8 when most restaurants in this town closed. So we decided to try Raven Vegan restaurant to-go eaten poolside. We ordered what I considered safe choices for kids (Flatbread and Ravioli) and they were great! The vegan cheese worked, kids got their fill and I was a happy mom because they were eating their vegetables. My husband got the crabless crab cakes and while the texture was different, I tasted crab in there. The highlight for me was the Pad Thai. Pad Thai is on my list of last meals and I've tried it everywhere. This version did not disappoint. In fact, it was THE tastiest Pad Thai I've ever had. Sweet, tangy, crunchy, slurpy, and umami. I could eat it everyday. Our stay at the Stanford Inn came with breakfast here also. My kiddos split a savory crepe and pancakes. They ate it all up. My husband had the Ranchero which was delicious! Who knew tofu scramble was so tasty?! I had the Portebello Benedict which was equally delicious, though next time I'd skip the tomato. It made things extra soggy. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Also changing the lighting in the restaurant and maybe adding candlelight might help the ambience. It feels cold and not as romantic as it should be. We love the beautiful vegan ethic but it could be so much more.

I noticed a queue outside of Franny's, so I just got into line and waited, not even knowing what I was waiting for! Let me tell you, this review is coming almost 2 years later because the baked good I discovered here was so delightful and so life changing that it has resulted in an insatiable obsession for me. I went up to the counter finally and, feeling overwhelmed by the selection and display case, asked the cashier what they would recommend. I ended up with a croissant, a cookie, and the cashier-recommended canneles. I didn't even eat the cannele until the following day, and it was pure bliss. Cute little pasty about 2in tall with a crispy, caramelized experiour and moist custardy 'cake' on the inside. I had never eaten anything like it. To this day, I search far and wide for canneles and will go to great lengths to secure them. They are a rare delight simply because of the artistry and precision and expensive tools/ingredients required to make them. Franny's has a special spot in my heart for introducing me to the magical little pastry, canneles. For that, Franny gets all the stars!
