    Steak au Poivre
    Cecelia P.

This restaurant is very warm and charming . Our waiter made us feel comfortable and relaxed . Excellent food. The Steak au Poivre was so tender and flavorful . The beet salad was flavorful and a great start to the meal . For dessert a had the bread pudding with a very light bourbon sauce . One of the best meals I have ever had . And the prices were a pleasant surprise for the quality of the meal . 5 star rated isn't enough for this restaurant . I would recommend a thousand times over .

Fine value Stopped by for din after a long day of hiking. We couldn't resist the $35 3 course. We were welcomed with complimentary champagne as we were celebrating a special occasion. Started off with a caesar salad which was classic. Went well with their crusty bread. The main was a mushroom lasagne which was done perfectly - the al dente pasta loaded up with savory mushrooms and golden crispy and cheesy on top. Had to get another basket of bread to soak up the sauce. The dessert was a chocolate pomegranate pudding, which was decent. The decour is classy yet cozy with a great view. Overall, a great value for a classier date night.

Was recommended to us and my oh my, oh so delicious! From the minute you walk and in and are warmly greeted, to the ambiance, wait staff and food! A 10! Started off with escargot, then had the Bistro special which carrot salad, pork chops with collard greens and black eyed peas, to my special of salmon, garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. The wine and cocktail amazing and dessert was divine. Our server was Gigi and she was spectacular! Will definitely be back!

This place is great. We've been coming here for a couple of decades and it has always lived up to our memories. We had reservations and got a lovely window seat. We had the best server. She was fun and helpful and always there when we had questions or anything at all. The ambiance here is fantastic. Very classy and top notch in all aspects. See the pictures for our vegetarian soufflé, duck breast with cherry sauce, lavender ice cream, and espresso. All perfect... Highly recommended for a special occasion or just to treat yourself to a great night out. Also, they serve perfect martinis.

What's not to love about THE Ledford house from the pastoral location to the welcoming and laidback atmosphere. This place has a chill vibe. The food is five plus stars no matter what you choose. Ask your waiter for recommendations. The homemade bread and olive oil are scrumptious. Add the roasted garlic clove and you are on the way. We went with the soufflé and lamb and luckily saved room for dessert. Patience dear readers see the photo below. We loved our waitress and if there is one bit of advice I'd offer is not to have the other staff continually asking if our meal is still good. Having a bit more privacy is preferable. Finally, for the quality of the meal - what you'll pay is well worth it. Enjoy!

I discovered what could well be my favorite restaurant along the Mendocino Coast while staying at Point Arena. Forty five minutes north of Point Arena and 15 minutes south of Mendocino in the town of Albion is the Ledford House. I was so impressed with everything that hit our table, that we polished off everything from the bread to the escargot and finally both the halibut and ahi fish specials paired with beautiful views. Everything was top notched that I can't even decide on a favorite.

Came here for Valentine's Day and loved the experience. The restaurant is quaint inside and intimate, but not stuffy. The food value is great - ordered their $35 Bistro special that came with beet/carrot salad, rabbit lasagna, and crème dessert. For a total of $140 we got an order of oysters, escargot, my bistro special, duck, and an added dessert. That's quite a deal coming from Bay Area prices! Moreover, service was great. Highly recommend if you're looking for a French restaurant near Little River.

We came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had a bad experience. First parking lot was not well lit. Entering and Exiting was confusing at night. Second, our server was robotic and was not friendly. I had to wave her down to order while she was more attentive to other non Asian guests. Third, after having really good French food in San Francisco , downtown Saratoga , Carmel, I have to say the food here was bland tasting and lacked flavor. The best dish of the night was the passion fruit sorbet. We should have dinned in at our hotel honestly.

My wife and I now live up in northern Sonoma county and we have had the pleasure of eating at Ledford House in the past so when our anniversary rolled around we booked a dinner reservation and recently grabbed dinner. Delicious as usual and the owner was kind enough to give us a window seat to watch the sunset. That never gets old ! Portions are generous and the starters really were yummy and filling. Snails were soaked in butter and plenty of garlic and the steak tartar was fresh and ample. I had the roasted duck with a cherry reduction which is always delicious here and my wife had the fish stew with saffron. A delicious meal and once again one of our favorite restaurants in the area. These guys do a great job and we would highly recommended you give them a try ! Plus their corkage is fair at $25 and the wine list is fairly priced irrespective, albeit a smallish list. Do yourself a favor and give these folks a try. Plus they have bistro specials nightly for three courses for only $35!!

Returning to the Ledford House after 20 years felt like reuniting with an old friend--one that has aged gracefully, maintained its charm, and still knows how to host a perfect evening. Dining on Sunday, February 17, their last night before vacation, was a reminder of why this Albion gem has remained a beloved destination for so long. The ambiance was a seamless blend of warmth and sophistication. Nestled above the rugged coastline, the immaculate grounds were a serene prelude to the experience, with the sound of the ocean setting the mood. Inside, the dining room was cozy, welcoming, and just lively enough to feel celebratory without drowning out conversation. The staff? Simply fantastic--knowledgeable, courteous, and, most importantly, genuinely enjoying their work, which added an effortless joy to the evening. The meal opened with bread so good it deserved its own standing ovation. A mix of light and dark slices, it struck the perfect balance of crispy crust and pillowy-soft center. Even the green olives--normally not our first choice--disappeared from the table in record time, a testament to their irresistible flavor. But the roasted garlic appetizer stole the early show. Perfectly caramelized and swimming in olive oil and herbs de Provence, it paired flawlessly with crostini and chèvre, each bite a luxurious, finger-licking indulgence. The duck entrée transported me back to my time in France. Tender, succulent, and elevated by a dried cherry cabernet reduction, it was a masterpiece, expertly complemented by garlicky mashed potatoes and crisp, vibrant vegetables. Each bite was a harmonious blend of richness and refinement. Then there was the filet mignon, a showstopper in its own right. The blue cheese port sauce, touched with just the right amount of black pepper, elevated the already perfectly cooked steak to "très magnifique" status. For dessert, we opted for the house-made grapefruit sorbet with a lavender cookie--a brilliantly refreshing finale. The citrusy brightness of the sorbet cleansed the palate, while the delicate floral notes from the cookie tied everything together. Dining at the Ledford House was not just a meal--it was an experience, a reunion with impeccable flavors, exceptional service, and an ambiance that soothes the soul. If this was their last night before vacation, they certainly ended on a high note. Here's to hoping it won't be another 20 years before I return! 5/5 - A Must-Visit Culinary Gem on the Mendocino Coast

    Albion Sunset

We enjoyed an excellent meal with a beautifully streaked sunset which seemed to glow red forever. I opted for the Bistro special which was a thick juicy pork chop and mushroom bread pudding. It was accompanied by very delicious beet salad with goat cheese. So tasty! To finish it off, the special included dark chocolate mousse, which had an almost fudge consistency. There was no way I could finish all that, so I took a good part of my dinner home, while my wife helped polish off the mousse. She had the filet mignon and said it was very good and cooked to perfection without having it cut butterfly style. She usually sends it back for more cooking, so that says a lot! The service was top notch and the maitre de hung up our jackets for us. A superb evening to say the least. We'll definitely go back!

Food very good. Duck was a generous portion, wonderful sauce and very tender. Service and ambiance impeccable. Must see the sunset from here. Loved the French art deco scenes giving you the feel you are in a French cafe.

There was no way we were getting the kids out of the pool and into dry clothes before 8 when most restaurants in this town closed. So we decided to try Raven Vegan restaurant to-go eaten poolside. We ordered what I considered safe choices for kids (Flatbread and Ravioli) and they were great! The vegan cheese worked, kids got their fill and I was a happy mom because they were eating their vegetables. My husband got the crabless crab cakes and while the texture was different, I tasted crab in there. The highlight for me was the Pad Thai. Pad Thai is on my list of last meals and I've tried it everywhere. This version did not disappoint. In fact, it was THE tastiest Pad Thai I've ever had. Sweet, tangy, crunchy, slurpy, and umami. I could eat it everyday. Our stay at the Stanford Inn came with breakfast here also. My kiddos split a savory crepe and pancakes. They ate it all up. My husband had the Ranchero which was delicious! Who knew tofu scramble was so tasty?! I had the Portebello Benedict which was equally delicious, though next time I'd skip the tomato. It made things extra soggy. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

The food is very easily consumed by your eyes as it will be by your taste buds. Chef Ryan absolutely flexes on every dish and executes on each course almost effortlessly. There is a good variety of food with the stars I think being their escargot (the garlic butter being the best). Lots of little touches of snail decor around the restaurant is really cute. I've had their ahi Niçoise salad and it is excellent. The potatoes and ahi were a surprisingly good combo for me. Oysters are a refreshing appetizer but I recommend the frog legs (tastes almost like a very lightly fried thinner chicken wing). I often paired it with a side of mushrooms. My family has gotten a variety of their menu. Onion soup is good and ahi tartare is great to share and munch. Warmed baguette bread and butter are always available. They have such good appetizers I think they even beat out the entrees. But I can say their steak and poulet/chicken frites are not bad too. I'm very glad they can do substitutions for the frites with roasted vegetables and got my poulet with green beans instead which still were a good pairing for the meat. Desserts are great too to share and finish your meal. Creme brûlée is standard in a lot of places and theirs hits the mark but I love Augie's Crepe Suzette more! A tangy orange based crepe topped with vanilla ice cream with bits of crispy orange bits throughout. I hope I come back again to try more dishes. A lovely spot in downtown. Reservations are easily made online too.

Cozy decor and the restaurant is in the middle of all the downtown Santa Rosa action. The bread and butter were so good. And complimentary, which I feel is rare these days. Salade Lyonnaise was surprisingly good for this reluctant veggie eater. The bacon vinaigrette really gave it a meaty flavor. I wanted to try the terrine but the group vetoed me for the pate and I was pleasantly surprised. It came with a little bit of salad, mustard, and pickles, and the whole thing ate really well together. Next came the sweetbreads and I think I was only sad there wasn't more of it. I liked this best of the apps. Got the half dozen raw oysters on half shell. Those were okay, I think I could skip next time. For mains, I got the duck confit. The duck itself was okay. I think I expected it to be more tender; and it was a bit oversalted for my taste. The potatoes and fig jus though... wow I would order this if it was just a side. Also, again, appreciated that there was a salad with this, I thought it was a nice touch that brightened up the dish. I probably wouldn't get this again but there are other mains to try. I tried the dishes ordered by others at our table. I thought the steak was super chewy. Definitely the worst steak I've had from a Stark restaurant. It is the worst steak I've had in recent memory. It also had very little sauce, but maybe I was only looking for the sauce because the steak wasn't any good. I thought the duck sausage dish was a bit salty. The poulet frites was probably objectively the most well-prepared protein out of what we ordered, in terms of seasoning and texture. We were pretty stuffed so we didn't get dessert this time. The service was interesting. Front of house were very welcoming and friendly, what you would likely expect for hospitality. Servers were not very welcoming or friendly, but maybe it's trying for French vibes in that way. (Jk.) It was maybe giving new server. That said, by the end of the meal I couldn't really knock it because the servers were prompt in responding to all our requests. Overall, I think the visit was like 3.5 stars because of the bread and butter, good apps, and prompt service were good, but the mains were all pretty disappointing. I will definitely be back to try more of the apps and maybe a dessert.
