Take yourself to Wickson and be whisked onto their outdoor seating and you will feel as though you are dining in the country in Spain, Portugal, Italy..... feast on the delicious fare and sip the French drip coffee. Served with a smile and kindness, I would definitely recommend!

Thursdays are "family night" - prefix 3 course menu with a theme. Tonight's menu featured a blue cheese garden salad, fried chicken with homemade biscuits and a spicy, honey drizzle, and a smore-inspired dessert. The salad was a surprising delight - creamy without being overpowering - and a nice way to ensure some vedge made its way into the meal! The main course was the fried chicken, homemade biscuits and a side of creamy mashed potatoes and string beans. We enjoyed the gravy that topped the mashed potatoes (a chicken reduction that complimented the fried chicken) and the spicy honey that we drizzled liberally over both the chicken and biscuits. Overall, it was a lovely experience and we left very well fed!

Passed by here on the way back from Mendocino and what a jewel! It's located inside a beautiful Mediterranean style boutique hotel that I believe specializes in marijuana tourism. I didn't know there was such a things as marijuana tourism, but it certainly makes sense to have this restaurant downstairs! The ambiance is cozy, much like a tucked away Italian taverna. The staff seem really happy to work there, laughing and joking with each other. They play a lot of fun 90s and 2000s rock and pop tunes. They specialize in wood fired pizzas, but there are lovely surprises like inventive salads and octopus with a sauce that you soak up with your pizza crust. We especially enjoyed the grilled oysters which are hard to find on menus.

A casual restaurant at The Madrones (a compound of guest rooms, tasting rooms, restaurants, and shops) in Philo, in Anderson Valley wine country. They serve lunch and dinner, inside and outside, and offer a seasonal, locally sourced menu. We enjoyed lunch outside in the their beautiful garden. We split a gorgeous beet salad and a nettle pizza with bacon added. Both were delicious! My dining partner enjoyed a glass of local rosé and I opted for a unique local kombucha. The pricing is reasonable and service friendly and attentive, yet relaxed. It felt like we were on vacation! Make a reservation. And then enjoy a tasty meal before or after wine tasting! Our next stop was Maggy Hawk tasting room directly across the street! I look forward to returning to Wickson when I'm next in the area!

The service was great and the food was just as great. We had a salad, pizza and the panna cotta. This place is a must visit!!

What can I say about Wickson Restaurant that already hasn't been said. Nestled between the delicious wineries, we discovered this amazing dining experience that not only was tastefully decorated and served up tasty dishes! Since it was such a beautiful day, we opted to sit in their patio. Walking past the kitchen and to the shaded patio, I couldn't help but notice the already fired up pizza oven. I didn't even look at the menu and I already knew one of the items we'd be ordering was a wood fired pizza. But stepping through the kitchen felt so familiar, like I was about to enjoy a great meal at a good friends home. Reading the wine & spirit menu, I was happy to see that some of the wineries we visited were available here. I opted for a pinot from a location which we've not yet visited; the Phillips Hill pinot. We started off our meal with oysters and their patatas bravas which we savored. And as anticipated, we dove into a fresh out of the oven sausage pizza. I have to say, the Wickson is located in a cute little hotel. Our next trip to Anderson Valley will land us staying at this hotel, with another wonderful meal at the Wickson.

Dang, this place was insanely good, I honestly can't wait to go back. Everything we ordered had all the best flavors matched together and I wish I could eat here everyday. I don't think you can go wrong ordering anything here.

Wickson Restaurant has become an absolute must visit whenever I have plans to visit the area or am just driving through. Next time I will be making plans to stay at The Madrones which is next door! I had the suckling pig tacos special with a glass of sparkling and a bite off of everyone's else's plate at the table. I loved everything! Not only was the food great, the service was as well. Our server, to whom I'm extremely sorry I don't remember your name, was extremely kind, provided great recommendations, knowledgeable of the menu and where food was sourced from, made sure we were taken care of the whole time. We had a brief moment to speak with the chef on the way out and he was also extremely kind. Between the food, service, location, and everything you can imagine, the ambience is unmatched. I couldn't recommend the place any more! I can't wait to return.

The kale and cabbage salad was innovative with a fermented garlic vinaigrette dressing with crispy kale (never had that before) and marcona almonds. It was a substantial salad for two and was delicious - not too much dressing, the dressing wasn't overpowering, the cabbage was crisp - it all worked really well. Because they didn't have gluten free pizza crusts, got the asparagus, green garlic and speck pizza toppings over polenta, which came out sizzling hot in a pan. It probably was great as a pizza, but not great over polenta. The pizza's looked large, so instead of getting a pizza that would only be half eaten, ordered the radiatorre pasta with pork ragu as the second entree. The pasta was fresh, substantial and delicious. The ragu was good, not too saucy, but a little bland. It could have benefited from some fresh basil and a little more... oomph. The local wines - barbera and granache - were not our favorites so we ordered a bottle of sangiovese. Fairly pricey - it all came out to over $200.

We loved the atmosphere which they have live music playing! Our server was very kind and gave us recommendations. We were able to split and share a Cesar salad and they gave two plates to share which was kind instead of one big plate and we appreciated that. I give 4/5 stars for the quality of the food only because I felt the spaghetti noodles were a little salty along with the sauce being salty. I love love love spaghetti and this was the first time I've been to an Italian restaurant and felt something was salty because I'm never one to complain. It could have been an off day but from the time we ordered to the actual dinner entrees to come took more than 20 minutes and it wasn't too crowded. Also, we ordered cannolis and the shell didn't seem crunchy/fresh but the flavor was there and the texture of the ricotta was smooth! For a couple who ordered 2 appetizers , two main entrees, one bottle of red wine , and two cannolis to share, we spent about 200 which was a little bit pricier than we usual experience at a typical Italian restaurant so just a heads up. Otherwise, this is a good place for fine dining in the area with nice staff and good portion food

We were in the mood for pasta/italian. Okay....I wasn't…read moregoing to write a review this time because small towns and local restaurants need to survive so I didn't take any photos. I was just expecting decent. But I think what's unsettling is the price point so here is what we thought so you can make your own decision. I had a starter, the PAN SEARED DAY BOAT SCALLOPS. With this dish you get 3 scallops. I imagined typical-sized scallops but these were super small, about the size of a quarter (coin). The sauce and fennel salad tasted fine but for price I was imagining bigger. I think these were $24. The scallops were not that "fresh off the boat" taste, but edible. For price, I would say $18 at most. To be fair. The pasta with marinara was decent, but for boxed pasta and most likely canned sauce, $30 is a bit much to ask. We Asked for extra Parmesan cheese, instead of freshly shredded at the table, it came in a dish. That's more about being an Italian restaurant than cost. But to far, $20-$22, with fresh Parmesan! Not $30. We also ordered a mixed green salad, which was more like a side salad for 1. Again overpriced. The waiter said it was enough for 2 but it's not that big! Maybe 1 person eats and the 2nd person gets 2 bites. We did like the dressing. So in the end, the food was just okay (not fresh) but what made it all hard to swallow was the price point for quality ratio. Big city prices. $100, for 2. ;a plate of pasta, a starter, 1 salad, & 2 glasses of wine).

I liked that they didn't automatically fall apart when you picked it up. Plus the flavor and tenderness of the fish was spot on perfect. For dinner during a subsequent visit sitting inside at a cozy table was equally enjoyable. Four of us had a tough time choosing entrees as everything on the menu looked appealing. We started and shared the cheese board which was fabulous. Local cheeses were the highlight and ever so good. For my entree I chose the Gnochi with vegetagles. I very much enjoyed the overall dish but the gnochi were somewhat sparse and not that good in texture. Surprisingly that didn't impact the overall impression as everything else in the dish was satisfyingly delicious. It was an adequate portion and the price point good for the quality. We went through two bottles of wine, one suggested by the server. It was spot on. This is a delightful restaurant and if you're in the area definitely make it a stop for either lunch, when available, or especially dinner.
