Some basic learning about temps for wine types would be a good start. (2) The owner and her colleague took up 2 of the 3 chairs at the bar, and were drinking. Surely the seats should be left for customers (3) The owner said our server doesn't really know what she's doing because she's new. Didn't feel right to hear that said publicly in front of her - maybe spend time training her vs. drinking at the counter. (4) The menu states prices for a 6 ounce pour, but no pre-measured mini-carafe is used for wines poured directly from the bottle (this is a simple, but profoundly impactful upgrade for the customers of wine bars). A concept is one thing, but better execution and leadership could result in a real gem in downtown Fort Bragg.

This place contains all the local gems, thoughtfully picked, and honestly some of the best around. When I stopped by, Michael was so nice and welcoming. He actually took the time to chat with me, listened to what I liked, and helped me find exactly the right wine no pressure, just genuine advice. Seriously, it felt like having a friend guide me through the shelves and I went home with just the right flavor of wine. And now to the prices. Shockingly good. You get amazing quality without having to empty your wallet. The vibe is cool, chill, and totally unpretentious, perfect for kicking back with a glass and soaking in that Mendocino magic. If you want great wine and a friendly, relaxed spot, Mendo Vino is where it's at.

They had some excellent producers: Waits-Mast, Occhipinti (Sicily), Marcel Lapierre (Beaujolais), etc. Retail prices were really reasonable as well. You can open any bottle for retail + $10 corkage, which is a nice option if you want to share a bottle or two among friends. They have a small selection of bites--marinated olives come with each corkage paid--mainly cheese and charcuterie focused, however when the Cafe is open, it's possible to order a small selection of bites from the Cafe as well, which is a really cool option. I heard if the cafe is a bit slow, they'll even allow ordering off the full menu. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. We'll definitely pop in again on our next trip out to the coast.

A sweet outdoor wine bar near Cafe Aquatica, overlooking the Russian River…read more We stopped in recently on a sunny weekend day after hiking Jenner Headlands Preserve. We bought wine and they let us bring over food from Cafe Aquatica (two doors down in the same building), as long as we removed our food trash. Very cool of them! It was quiet at the wine bar when we were there, but I imagine it's livelier when they have live music going on. Their back patio area connects to Cafe Aquatica's, so we enjoyed the music coming from there. Staff were super friendly and kind, telling us about the smaller production, local wines they offer. I enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon Blanc while soaking in some sunshine and river views. Friendly dogs on leash are welcomed! Cheers Friends!

You get to watch all of the action in the open kitchen from the bar. I loved watching staff shuck fresh oysters and prepare the other tasty dishes here at Trillium. I don't drink, but luckily, Trillium offers a great alcohol menu and a small NA section. The NA Rose I ordered was very tasty. I didn't splurge on any bites, but everything I watched come out of teh kitchen looked fantastic, and the happy hour deals are a steal! The service was great all the way through, and I just had to order a slice of the fresh coconut cake to go. It was creamy and delicious with tons of coconut flavor. My personal favorite is the Anderson Valley Brut. It has a dry, crisp sharp oak-aged taste. The taste comes from the magic of the Anderson Valley. It is a long narrow valley that funnels in the cold fog from the ocean which drops the temperature and slows the ripening of the grapes. It's hard to beat this stuff!
